• How to unlock and remove a protected partition from Prestigio USB stick?

  Ok, so, I have one of those fancy schmancy devices, which is given to me by a frustrated friend of mine. Windows sees it also as two identical usb devices, and mounts two separate drives to system, whereas first one presents itself as a CDROM device, holding a write-protected content, and second is a regular flash-disk partition, that "can" be written to. However, it seems like it's broken in some weird way, since it won't let me write anything to it, format it, nothing, but that's not the issue right now. Question: How can I unlock entire USB stick so it appears to system as a single, 8GB device which can be partitioned and used normally, without restrictions? Since it appeared to be an U3 device, I have tried standard utilities: both U3 Uninstaller by u3.com (found on SoftPedia), and opensource u3_tool from sourceforge (on both Windows and Linux). First utility failed to even detect USB stick as U3 device (simply stood idle while I re-plugged stick several times), while second tool failed with some obscure error about SCSI command unable to do something (I might be able to provide exact errors when I switch back to windows). u3_tool -i /dev/sg3 (Display device info) fails with u3_partition_info() failed: Device reported command failed: status 1 ...and every other option fails with same error, minus first part which states which command precisely has failed. So, apparently, this isn't a U3 device. Or, if it is, it doesn't behave like one. I read on a few occasions that this device protection is done by special command sent to device which tells it to lock itself, and so there should be an unlock command, that would set drive straight. Does anyone have any idea about what could I do to this device to fix it? P.S. I also mentioned a problem with being unable to use second "drive", but I'll tackle that problem when (and if) I manage to merge those two devices into one...

• TightVNC (or any VNC) viewer windows scaling

  Hi, I am currently using TightVNC to connect to multiple remote hosts in LAN. I start 16 VNC viewers, set Scaling by: Auto (in connection options display), and then select all viewer windows and use Tile Horizontally, which covers my entire screen with VNC viewers. It all works sort of nice, except that desktop interaction is really slow when there are more then 4 VNC viewers. My question is, does VNC client (not just TightVNC, but any compatible client) support some kind of smart scaling option, so that client tells server something along the lines of: "Okay, I'm displaying your entire screen in a window size 300x225 px, so can you please start sending encoded images on that resolution?", at which point interactiveness of open connections dramatically increase, and when I decide to go full screen on some connection, client and server re-negotiate and server starts sending full resolution images again? • Should I upgrade my VPS to a dedicated host?

  I've been running a website for 4 months now and in that time, it has grown from a few hundred unique visits/day to about 30,000 unique visits/day. I have been on Linode the whole time and have steadily upgraded to a 4GB node. Unfortunately, my app is very MySQL heavy and even with caching, the server is frequently ceasing to respond in peak times. During these times, all 4 cores are maxed on the machine (though Linode 4GB only provides a 1/5 share of the CPU). The only way to get it running again is to restart MySQL. I don't really know what to do. I have tried optimising the InnoDB settings and it seems to not be helping. Would moving to a Dedicated host be a good solution? I can get 4-5x the power of my node for a similar price - and with decent providers too.

  I have one strange thing which is happening to my outlook. It tries to synchronize something (seems it do this every time send/recieve triggers). Does anybody know how to switch this manager off? • Crawling a Content Folio

  Content Folios in WebCenter Content allow you to assemble, track, and access a logical group of documents and/or links.  It allows you to manage them as just a list of items (simple folio) or organized as a hierarchy (advanced folio).  The built-in UI in content server allows you to work with these folios, but publishing them or consuming them externally can be a bit of a challenge.   The folios themselves are actually XML files that contain the structure, attributes, and pointers to the content items.  So to publish this somewhere, such as a Site Studio page, you could perhaps use an XML parser to traverse the structure and create your output.  But XML parsers are not always the easiest or most efficient to use.  In order to more easily crawl and consume a Content Folio, Ed Bryant - Principal Sales Consultant, wrote a component to do just that.  His component adds a service which does all the work for you and returns the folio structure as a simple resultset.  So consuming and publishing that folio on a Site Studio page or in your portal using RIDC is a breeze!  For example, let's take an advanced Content Folio example like this: If we look at the native file, the XML looks like this: But if we access the folio using the new service - http://server/cs/idcplg?IdcService=FOLIO_CRAWL&dDocName=ecm008003&IsPageDebug=1 - this is what the result set looks like (using the IsPageDebug parameter). Given this as the result set, it makes it very easy to consume and repurpose that folio. You can download a copy of the sample component here. • Can I bridge two wired networks with a Netgear WG602 (v4)

  I have two networks and I want to join them. Only one has a router. The other is currently just a bunch of computers joined via a switch. So it looks a little like this: 1. Router + comp1 + comp2 + wireless ap 2. comp3 + comp4 + Netgear WG602 Is it possible to use the WG602 to connect to the WIFI of the main network (the one with the router) and connect via wire to the 2nd network - therefore allowing the computers on network 2 to use the router on network 1?

• SSL Returning Blank Page, No Catalina Errors

  This is my second, maybe third, time configuring SSL with Tomcat. Earlier I had created a self signed, which worked, and now using my signed is proving fruitless. I am using Tomcat, operating from the Amazon Linux API. When using the signed cert/keystore, my server is starting normally without errors. However, when trying to navigate to the domain it is giving me an "ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH" error. My server.xml file looks as follows: <Connector port="8443" maxHttpHeaderSize="8192" maxThreads="150" minSpareThreads="25" maxSpareThreads="75" enableLookups="false" disableUploadTimeout="true" acceptCount="100" scheme="https" secure="true" SSLEnabled="true" clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS" keystoreFile="/home/ec2-user/.keystore/starchild.jks" keystorePass="d6b5385812252f180b961aa3630df504" /> It couldn't hurt to also mention that I'm using a wildcard certificate. Please let me know if anything looks amiss! EDIT: After looking more into this, I've determined there may be nothing is wrong with the Server.xml, or the listening ports. This is becoming more of an actual certificate error, as the curl request is giving me this error: curl: (35) Unknown SSL protocol error in connection to jira.mywebsite.com:-9824 Though, I can't seem to figure out what the "-9824" is. When comparing this curl to another similar setup (using the same Wildcard Certificate) it's turning up the full handshake, which is to be expected. I believe this is now between the protocol/cypher set default on JIRA servers.

Ideally, I'm hoping for something that could be used like: nosleep myscript.sh Background Sometimes I start up long-running jobs like a manual backup or large file transfers and I've found that Windows often goes to sleep before these finish. • RHEL 5.2 installing on ProLiant BL460c - hangs at 'now booting the kernel'

  As the title states, I have a problem. This server and the installation disc are also on the other side of the world to me so... So far, I have tried to start the install with the parameters: linux text noapic noacpi no=apic no=acpi which results in the same hang. I have also disabled a PCI ethernet adapter, I am uneasy about disabling the onboard ethernet adapter I do not know if ILO uses this. Anyone have any advice? Much appreciated. EDIT: full output after trying to begin the installation. boot: linux text Loading initrd.img.................. Loading vmlinuz....... Uncompressing Linux...done. • Why does sharepoint claim not enougth disk space for backup when there is lots availalbe?

  I'm trying to run the following command: Backup-SPFarm -Directory E:\Backups -BackupMethod full -Verbose However it errors saying there isn't enough disk space... the backup will be about 1.8Gb in size, I have 27.52GB free, so why does it think I need 30Gb?
