  I set up a local server without MAMP, for various reasons. Right now the IP resolves to a Virtual Host I set up and the localhost resolves to the DocumentRoot established by httpd.conf

  I have installed XAMPP installed in my linux machine and phpmyadmin is working fine. But when I tried to start mysql using console using mysql command, I am getting the following error.   I've configured xampp and firewall so I can access desktop pc's localhost over my local network through desktop pc's IP. But I'm not able to access auctual projects: I can access: http://192.168.x.x/xampp or http://192.168.x.x/phpMyAdmin But I cannot access: http://192.168.x.x/myWebsite/ I get an error: Server error We're sorry! • MySQL not respond when overheaded

  I have few Drupal 6 websites on webhosting, which causes this strange problem: some tables, especially Cache and Watchdog, tend to overhead, when overhead is bigger than some amount of kB, MySQL server is refusing connection to given Drupal database or connection is broken during query execution, Optimizing table (just overheaded rows) in phpMyAdmin is putting all back to normal. But - until database is optimized, site is showing just MySQL errors, which is ugly... Where is a problem? Thank you for any hints I could pass back to the hosting admins!

• Site down, SSH and FTP work fine

  I cannot access my site through my web browser, using either the domain name or IP address (which also pings fine). My site was working last night when I went to bed, so I can't think what might have done it. I have tried restarting apache to no avail. update: I've noticed that http://[IP Address]/phpymyadmin works but [domain name]/phpmyadmin does not, and the same happens for webmin (https://[IP]:1000). Could this be a problem with BIND?

  First of all: I am quite new to Ubuntu (and Linux and servers in all). When I am trying to install ex phpmyadmin from apt-get, I get the Error: E: Couldn't configure pre-depend upstart-job for hostname, probably a dependency cycle. Can anyone tell me why this happens, and what I can do to fix it? I am running Ubuntu Server 7.10 . /Christoffer ---EDIT--- I found the problem - and the solution! • How do I set up FTP on localhost?

  On my old machine (back on Lucid!) I used XAMPP for local dev work. XAMPP installed everything for you, including setting up FTP to your localhost (/var/www) directory, since permissions don't allow you to write directly to it. I have a new machine running Precise, and decided to do things the grown-up way. I installed everything using tasksel, and got apache, php, mysql, and phpmyadmin up and running. But it's kind of a pain to have to create and edit all my files via gksudo gedit on the command line, and sooner or later I'm going to have to upload images. How can I set up FTP so that I can "upload" files to my localhost server?

• Apache 2.4 PHP 5.4 mysql not found?

  Just tried setting up the latest Apache (2.4.1 x86 VC10 from apachelounge) and PHP (5.4 VC9 TS X86, with the php5apache2_4.dll) on my PC and ran into this weird problem; in my php.ini I have enabled all of the following: extension=php_mysql.dll extension=php_mysqli.dll extension=php_pdo_mysql.dll but when I try to print the available PDO's using this: print_r(PDO::getAvailableDrivers()); It gives me an empty array. PhpMyAdmin and MantisBT also refuse to work, saying that the mysql extension is missing. phpinfo() gives this: PDO PDO support enabled PDO drivers no value and when searching for mysql, only the mysqlnd section pops up... The DLLs are there in the D:/php/ext folder and no errors pop up when starting up Apache, as well as no errors in the Windows Event Log, and PHP itself has no error log anyway. What could possibly be the problem with this? Before this I had Apache 2.2.22 from apachelounge and PHP 5.3.9 and I had no problems. Now nothing works...

• Error 1130 connecting to MySQL on Ubuntu Server 12.04

  I hope this is the right place for this...I currently am running Ubuntu Server 12.04 through VirtualBox on a Windows 7 host. I am trying to connect to the VM's MySQL engine using MyDB Studio for MySQL, and when I enter my MySQL login credentials, it gives me the following error back: Error 1130: Host '192.168.56.1' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server I am running the VM with Adapter 1 enabled for NAT, and Adapter 2 enabled for Host-only Adapter. eth0 10.0.2.15 and eth1 192.168.56.21. I can connect to Apache at 192.168.56.21, and through PhpMyAdmin, everything works as it should. I did edit the /etc/mysql/my.cnf file and commented out the line bind-address = 127.0.0.1 by adding a # in front of it - I thought that this should have allowed remote connections. Any ideas on how I can solve this? What could be wrong? EDIT: I am trying to connect as 'root'. EDIT: SOLVED!!

• Firefox ignore GTK theme for localhost stuff

  I know this is pretty much a duplicate of How can one make firefox ignore my GTK theme entirely?, but the answers on that one are no permanent solution. It works by launching firefox from the terminal. I would like to know a solution that works for every instance of firefox no matter how it was created. There is the possibility to edit the userContent.css file, but the settings you make randomly do not apply to some sites or in some situations, strangely, even with the !important added... I have a dark GTK theme and this results in some textboxes having a black background with black text with a userContent.css that has input, textarea { color: black !important; background-color: white !important; } Update I changed a setting in about:config from true to false, namely browser.display.use_system_colors. Everything appears normal and well now, for one exception: everything that runs on localhost. This includes PHPMyAdmin and a website I am making. I would like to know if there is a solution to this.

• PHPPgAdmin not working in Ubuntu 14.04

  After a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04, I've installed postgresql and phppgadmin from the Ubuntu repos. I am using the Apache2 webserver. PHP is working fine in the webserver, as is PHPMyAdmin, but PHPPgAdmin is not working. When I try to access it at localhost/phppgadmin, I get a 404 message. I've tried creating a symlink in /var/www to the phppgadmin content, but that doesn't seem to work. How do I fix this? EDIT: note that I am using a local proxy server (squid) through which I funnel all my online traffic. While this may be part of the problem, I would be surprised if it was, because I am still on the same machine as phppgadmin and the requests logged in the apache access log indicate that incoming requests for the page are coming from the local machine (which is allowed in the policies for phppgadmin, if I understand things correctly).

I tried to navigate through cPanel and I find nothing to check or monitor the amount of SQL queries per hour. I tried to ask my host and they said it is not possible to do manually. I was wondering what other languages I would need to learn and also what kinda development tools I should use. Also, what would be the best type of language to write a website like this. • cPanel email doesn't seem to work - error 550?

  I am fairly new to the web hosting game, so bear with me :) Recently set up a VPS with cPanel and WHM. Everything is going well so far, I've created a user domain and transferred my website there, managed a couple of databases with phpmyadmin, everything was going great until I started messing around with email. I made an email account [email protected] through cPanel, although when I try and email this address I get the following error: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Unknown user (state 13) Quite unsure of what to do next, in all honesty.

  I have recently installed Ubuntu server with LAMP,OpenSSH and mail on Oracle's VM, it's incoming networking was recently working, apache's default message could be seen when opening 127.0.0.1:8080. But now it's not! :( Could you give me any tips? I couldn't google anything that helped me. :( I'm running windows 7 with such settings http://www.bildites.lv/images/3d91ikwtraw0ld7lhv.png I recently used apt-get --purge remove phpmyadmin.   I have no experience with Foxbase whatsoever and I'm used to working with MySQL via phpmyadmin or interfaces like that. My company has a third party database we're trying to move away from, but we have no support from the company. The database is on our servers, but in a foxbase format. What kind tools do I need to convert these into other formats, or is there any type of admin UI I can tell them to use to export to csv or anything like that? • Recent Ubuntu update prevents MySQL root access

  I recently updated my Ubuntu (10.04 LTS) server (apt-get update, apt-get upgrade), and everything works fine, apart from the root access to my MySQL database. phpMyAdmin, CakePHP, and essentially all connections return similar access errors. For example, PMA returns 'Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.' I have tried to find similar examples of this instance, but cannot find assistance in what configuration I should be changing to restore root log in access. The same issue has occurred on two servers. One has additional users so I could get around it, but the other is a new development server with only root MySQL access, so I am stuck on how to resolve this.

• How can I give my client "full access" to their PHP application's MySQL database?

  I am building a PHP application for a client and I'm seriously considering WordPress or a simple framework that will allow me to quickly build out features like forums, etc. However, the client is adamant about having "full access" to the database and the ability to "mine the data." Unfortunately, I'm almost certain they will be disappointed when they realize they won't be able to easily glean meaningful insight by looking at serialized fields in wp_usermeta, etc. One thought I had was to replicate a variation on the live database where I flatten out all of those ambiguous and/or serialized fields into something that is then parsable by a mere mortal using a tool as simple as phpMyAdmin. Unfortunately, the client is not going to settle for a simple backend dashboard where I create the custom reports for them even though I know that would be the easiest and most sane approach.
