  • Django FileField not saving to upload_to location

    - by Erik
I have an Attachment model that has a FileField in a Django 1.4.1 app. This FileField has a callable upload_to parameter which, per the Django docs should be called when the form (and therefore the model) is saved. When I run FormTest below, the upload_to callable is never called and the file therefore does not appear in the location provided by the upload_to method. What am I doing wrong? Notice that in the passing tests in ModelTest (also below), the upload_to method works as expected. Test: from core.forms.attachments import AttachmentForm from django.test import TestCase import unittest from django.core.files.uploadedfile import SimpleUploadedFile from django.core.files.storage import default_storage def suite(): return unittest.TestSuite( [ unittest.TestLoader().loadTestsFromTestCase(FormTest), ] ) class FormTest(TestCase): def test_form_1(self): filename = 'filename' f = file(filename) data = {'name':'name',} file_data = {'attachment_file':SimpleUploadedFile(f.name,f.read()),} form = AttachmentForm(data=data,files=file_data) self.assertTrue(form.is_valid()) attachment = form.save() root_directory = 'attachments' upload_location = root_directory + '/' + attachment.directory + '/' + filename self.assertTrue(attachment.attachment_file) # • Embedded Prolog Interpreter/Compiler for Java

    - by Sami
I'm working on an application in Java, that needs to do some complex logic rule deductions as part of its functionality. I'd like to code my logic deductions in Prolog or some other logic/constraint programming language, instead of Java, as I believe the resulting code will be significantly simpler and more maintainable. I Googled for embedded Java implementations on Prolog, and found number of them, each with very little documentation. My (modest) selection criteria are: should be embeddable in Java (e.g. can be bundled up with my java package instead of requiring any native installations on external programs) simple interface to use from Java (for initiating deductions, inspecting results, and adding rules) come with at least a few examples on how to use it doesn't necessarely have to be Prolog, but other logic/constraint programming languages with the above criteria would suit my needs, too. What choices do I have and what are their advantages and disadvantages?

  • Self-type mismatch in Scala

    - by Alexey Romanov
Given this: abstract class ViewPresenterPair { type V <: View type P <: Presenter trait View {self: V => val presenter: P } trait Presenter {self: P => var view: V } } I am trying to define an implementation in this way: case class SensorViewPresenter[T] extends ViewPresenterPair { type V = SensorView[T] type P = SensorPresenter[T] trait SensorView[T] extends View { } class SensorViewImpl[T](val presenter: P) extends SensorView[T] { presenter.view = this } class SensorPresenter[T] extends Presenter { var view: V } } Which gives me the following errors: error: illegal inheritance; self-type SensorViewPresenter.this.SensorView[T] does not conform to SensorViewPresenter.this.View's selftype SensorViewPresenter.this.V trait SensorView[T] extends View { ^ <console>:13: error: type mismatch; found : SensorViewPresenter.this.SensorViewImpl[T] required: SensorViewPresenter.this.V presenter.view = this ^ <console>:16: error: illegal inheritance; self-type SensorViewPresenter.this.SensorPresenter[T] does not conform to SensorViewPresenter.this.Presenter's selftype SensorViewPresenter.this.P class SensorPresenter[T] extends Presenter { ^ I don't understand why. After all, V is just an alias for SensorView[T], and the paths are the same, so how can it not conform?

  • SOLVED: Lisp: macro calling a function works in interpreter, fails in compiler (SBCL + CMUCL)

    - by ttsiodras
As suggested in a macro-related question I recently posted to SO, I coded a macro called "fast" via a call to a function (here is the standalone code in pastebin): (defun main () (progn (format t "~A~%" (+ 1 2 (* 3 4) (+ 5 (- 8 6)))) (format t "~A~%" (fast (+ 1 2 (* 3 4) (+ 5 (- 8 6))))))) This works in the REPL, under both SBCL and CMUCL: $ sbcl This is SBCL 1.0.52, an implementation of ANSI Common Lisp. ... * (load "bug.cl") 22 22 $ Unfortunately, however, the code no longer compiles: $ sbcl This is SBCL 1.0.52, an implementation of ANSI Common Lisp. ... * (compile-file "bug.cl") ... ; during macroexpansion of (FAST (+ 1 2 ...)). Use *BREAK-ON-SIGNALS* to ; intercept: ; ; The function COMMON-LISP-USER::CLONE is undefined. So it seems that by having my macro "fast" call functions ("clone","operation-p") at compile-time, I trigger issues in Lisp compilers (verified in both CMUCL and SBCL). Any ideas on what I am doing wrong and/or how to fix this?

  • Do comments slow down an interpreted language?

    - by mvid
I am asking this because I use Python, but it could apply to other interpreted languages as well (ruby, php). Whenever I leave a comment in my code, is it slowing down the interpreter? My limited understanding of an interpreter is that it reads program expressions in as strings and converts those strings into code. It seems that every time it parses a comment, that is wasted time. Is this the case? Is there some convention for comments in interpreted languages, or is the effect negligible?

  • Why are the interpreters of all popular scripting languages written in C (if not in C at least not i

    - by wndsr
I recently asked a question on switching from C++ to C for writing an interpreter for speed and I got a comment from someone asking why on earth I would switch to C for that. So I found out that I actually don't know why - except that C++ object oriented system has a much higher abstraction and therefore is slower. Why are the interpreters of all popular scripting languages written in C and not in C++? If you want to tell me about some other language where the interpreter for it isn't in C, please replace all occurences of popular scripting languages in this question with Ruby, Python, Perl and PHP.

  • How do Ruby and Python implement their interactive consoles?

    - by sxa
When implementing the interpreter for my programming language I first thought of a simple console window which allows the user to enter some code which is then executed as a standalone program as a shell. But there are severe problems: If every line of code the user enters is handled as a standalone program, it has to go through the tokenizer and parser and is then just executed by the interpreter - what about functions then? How can the Python/Ruby interactive consoles (IDLE, irb) "share" the code? How is the code entered handled? Example: >> def x: >> print("Blah") >> >> x() Where is the function stored so it can be called at any time again? How can the interactive console take everything entered as obviously one program without executing everything over and over again?

  • How can I link axes of imshow plots for zooming and panning?

    - by Adam Fraser
Suppose I have a figure canvas with 3 plots... 2 are images of the same dimensions plotted with imshow, and the other is some other kind of subplot. I'd like to be able to link the x and y axes of the imshow plots so that when I zoom in one (using the zoom tool provided by the NavigationToolbar), the other zooms to the same coordinates, and when I pan in one, the other pans as well. Subplot methods such as scatter and histogram can be passed kwargs specifying an axes for sharex and sharey, but imshow has no such configuration. I started hacking my way around this by subclassing NavigationToolbar2WxAgg (shown below)... but there are several problems here. 1) This will link the axes of all plots in a canvas since all I've done is get rid of the checks for a.in_axes() 2) This worked well for panning, but zooming caused all subplots to zoom from the same global point, rather than from the same point in each of their respective axes. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Much thanks! -Adam from matplotlib.backends.backend_wxagg import NavigationToolbar2WxAgg class MyNavToolbar(NavigationToolbar2WxAgg): def __init__(self, canvas, cpfig): NavigationToolbar2WxAgg.__init__(self, canvas) # overrided # As mentioned in the code below, the only difference here from overridden # method is that this one doesn't check a.in_axes(event) when deciding which # axes to start the pan in... def press_pan(self, event): 'the press mouse button in pan/zoom mode callback' if event.button == 1: self._button_pressed=1 elif event.button == 3: self._button_pressed=3 else: self._button_pressed=None return x, y = event.x, event.y # push the current view to define home if stack is empty if self._views.empty(): self.push_current() self._xypress=[] for i, a in enumerate(self.canvas.figure.get_axes()): # only difference from overridden method is that this one doesn't # check a.in_axes(event) if x is not None and y is not None and a.get_navigate(): a.start_pan(x, y, event.button) self._xypress.append((a, i)) self.canvas.mpl_disconnect(self._idDrag) self._idDrag=self.canvas.mpl_connect('motion_notify_event', self.drag_pan) # overrided def press_zoom(self, event): 'the press mouse button in zoom to rect mode callback' if event.button == 1: self._button_pressed=1 elif event.button == 3: self._button_pressed=3 else: self._button_pressed=None return x, y = event.x, event.y # push the current view to define home if stack is empty if self._views.empty(): self.push_current() self._xypress=[] for i, a in enumerate(self.canvas.figure.get_axes()): # only difference from overridden method is that this one doesn't # check a.in_axes(event) if x is not None and y is not None and a.get_navigate() and a.can_zoom(): self._xypress.append(( x, y, a, i, a.viewLim.frozen(), a.transData.frozen())) self.press(event)

  • C++ Interpreter: How to emit error messages?

    - by Rawr
I want to emit dynamic error messages like all interpreters do nowadays, for example: Name error: Undefined variable would be constant, however what I want to reach is: Name error: Undefined variable 'X', in line 1 Okay. The line number was really no problem: Every error message must have a line number, so I added it to the error emitter function: Error( ErrType type, string msg, int line ); So where is my problem? How do I get the 'X' into Undefined variable *? I can't use sprintf as it doesn't support strings yet I use them everywhere I can't simply use cout and connect everything as I want error messages to be supressable I'd like to get everything into one function like above, Error() How do I put together dynamic error messages? For example: Error( Name, sprintf("Undefined variable %s", myVariableName ), lineNum ); (But myVariableName is a string and sprintf will mess things up)

  • python interpreter waits for child process to die

Contents of check.py: from multiprocessing import Process import time import sys def slp(): time.sleep(30) f=open("yeah.txt","w") f.close() if __name__=="__main__" : x=Process(target=slp) x.start() sys.exit() In windows 7, from cmd, if I call python check.py, it doesn't immediately exit, but instead waits for 30 seconds. And if I kill cmd, the child dies too- no "yeah.txt" is created. How do I make ensure the child continues to run even if parent is killed and also that the parent doesn't wait for child process to end?

I mean I could force myself to use 1 hour during working hours, but this will last for 2 days then someone will ask me to do more "high priority things". One option can be reading at night, but also this has limits, even because I prefer to spend time with kids. Could you please share your experiences? A long term plan is needed of course, it makes no sense to read 5 books in a week, but to continuously read something. For this reason it must not be a stressful thing. It should be easy. It must not be a struggle to find time to read, but it should be done on a continuous regular basis. Somehow this question can be similar to THIS ONE but I want to ask about books. How many if you read books at work for self improvement, not to tackle a specific task?
