  • Enterprise level Ticketing and inventory system reccomendations [closed]

    My company is sort off at a stand still when it comes to our technician ticketing and inventory system. We currently use Numara TrackIt! - which isn't cutting it to say the least. Dell recommended KACE, but it's web based which is what we would like to avoid. We need a good ticketing and inventory system with the following: Server/Client setup Client supports XP/Windows 7 Ent. Web Based as well as Client is a plus Technician ticketing Active Directory integration Inventory System (Asset tag tracking etc/PO tracking) Exchange integrated - when tickets are made you have an option to send to the requester. Something that will scale well Please, if anyone is a Systems Admin or has knowledge regarding use of a great ticketing system please let me know. We have a large international corporation - price honestly isn't an issue. Keep in mind this will be mainly used for technicians to create tickets, enter inventory(track PCS) and possible even an option to track purchase orders. We want an enterprise level ticketing system with these capabilities please help! Thank you.

  • Copy / Move One SAP Client From One System to another System

    We have one SAP system in the US (lets call it TKIJVPL1), this system has an SAP Client, client 241. We have another SAP system in Germany (lets call it Lockweiler). We need to move this client 241 from our TKIJVPL1 server to this new server. Can I simply use transaction SCC8? It says client export, but when I look at the options it says Source client : 241 (which is good), it says Profile Name SAP_ALL (which is also good as I need all data), but Target System all that is coming up is PL1 / QL1. What is the easiest way to export one client from one system to another system in SAP?

  • High performance text file parsing in .net

    Here is the situation: I am making a small prog to parse server log files. I tested it with a log file with several thousand requests (between 10000 - 20000 don't know exactly) What i have to do is to load the log text files into memory so that i can query them. This is taking the most resources. The methods that take the most cpu time are those (worst culprits first): string.split - splits the line values into a array of values string.contains - checking if the user agent contains a specific agent string. (determine browser ID) string.tolower - various purposes streamreader.readline - to read the log file line by line. string.startswith - determine if line is a column definition line or a line with values there were some others that i was able to replace. For example the dictionary getter was taking lots of resources too. Which i had not expected since its a dictionary and should have its keys indexed. I replaced it with a multidimensional array and saved some cpu time. Now i am running on a fast dual core and the total time it takes to load the file i mentioned is about 1 sec. Now this is really bad. Imagine a site that has tens of thousands of visits a day. It's going to take minutes to load the log file. So what are my alternatives? If any, cause i think this is just a .net limitation and i can't do much about it.

  • Encoding a string as an integer .NET

    I have a string that I would like represented uniquely as an integer. For example: A3FJEI = 34950140 How would I go about writing a EncodeAsInteger(string) method. I understand that the amount of characters in the string will make the integer increase greatly, forcing the value to become a long, not an int. Since I need the value to be an integer, I don't need the numerical representation to be entirely unique to the string. Maybe I can foreach through all the characters of the string and sum the numerical keycode of the character.

  • Obtaining reference to Class instance by string name - VB.NET

    Is it possible using Reflection or some other method to obtain a reference to a specific class instance from the name of that class instance? For example the framework for the applications i develop heavily uses public class instances such as: Public bMyreference as MyReference = new MyReference Then throughout the application bMyReference is used by custom controls and code. One of the properties of the custom controls is the "FieldName" which references a Property in these class instances (bMyReference.MyField) as a string. What i would like to be able to do is analyze this string "bMyReference.MyField" and then refer back to the actual Instance/Property. In VB6 I would use an EVAL or something simular to convert the string to an actual object but this obviously doesn't work in VB.net What I'm picturing is something like this Dim FieldName as String = MyControl.FieldName ' sets FielName to bMyReference.MyField Dim FieldObject() as String = FieldName.Split(".") ' Split into the Object / Property Dim myInstance as Object = ......... ' Obtain a reference to the Instance and set as myInstance Dim myProperty = myInstance.GetType().GetProperty(FieldObject(1))

    i have a string that looks like this - "1AL||9CA||34CO||196WY||..." i want to use a for loop or while loop, in which if i have an integer, it should parse this string and delete the value matching that integer. example for above string string = "1AL||9CA||34CO||196WY||..." integer = 34 for ... loop new string = "1AL||9CA||196WY||..." As you can see the integer matched the integer 34 and deleted from one delimeter "||" to th next one. how can i do this?

    From when I learned that the class java.lang.String is declared as final in Java, I was wondering why is that? I didn't find any answer back then, but this post: How to create a replica of String class in Java? reminded me of my query. Sure, String provides all the functionality I ever needed, and never thought of any operation that would require an extension of class String, but still you'll never know what someone might need!     Let's say I have two char variables, and later on I want to concatenate them into a string. This is how I would do it: char c1, c2; // ... String s = "" + c1 + c2; I've seen people who say that the "" + "trick" is "ugly", etc, and that you should use String.valueOf or Character.toString instead. I prefer this construct because: I prefer using language feature instead of API call if possible In general, isn't the language usually more stable than the API? If language feature only hides API call, then even stronger reason to prefer it! More abstract! Hiding is good! I like that the c1 and c2 are visually on the same level String.valueOf(c1) + c2 suggests something is special about c1 It's shorter. Is there really a good argument why String.valueOf or Character.toString is preferrable to "" +?     I know several (all?) STL implementations implement a "small string" optimization where instead of storing the usual 3 pointers for begin, end and capacity a string will store the actual character data in the memory used for the pointers if sizeof(characters) <= sizeof(pointers). I am in a situation where I have lots of small vectors with an element size <= sizeof(pointer). I cannot use fixed size arrays, since the vectors need to be able to resize dynamically and may potentially grow quite large. However, the median (not mean) size of the vectors will only be 4-12 bytes. So a "small string" optimization adapted to vectors would be quite useful to me. Does such a thing exist? I'm thinking about rolling my own by simply brute force converting a vector to a string, i.e. providing a vector interface to a string. Good idea?

    OK my regex is a bit rusty and I've been struggling with this particular problem... I need to split and process a string containing any number of the following, in any order: Chars (lowercase letters only) Quote delimited strings Ints The strings are pretty weird (I don't have control over them). When there's more than one number in a row in the string they're seperated by a comma. They need to be processed in the same order that they appeared in the original string. For example, a string might look like: abc20a"Hi""OK"100,20b With this particular string the resulting call stack would look a bit like: ProcessLetters( new[] { 'a', 'b', 'c' } ); ProcessInts( 20 ); ProcessLetters( 'a' ); ProcessStrings( new[] { "Hi", "OK" } ); ProcessInts( new[] { 100, 20 } ); ProcessLetters( 'b' ); What I could do is treat it a bit like CSV, where you build tokens by processing the characters one at a time, but I think it could be more easily done with a regex?

For example, Dim Sample AS String Sample = "John Doe New York Test Comment" Public Type Struct1 Name As String * 15 Address As String * 10 Comment As String * 20 End Type Dim dataStruct As Struct1 Set dataStruct = Sample When the dataStruct is set, it will automatically split value into the 3 structure member. Is there a special function to do this in C#. The only way I know how to do this is thru Attributes/Annotation describing the length and start position of string. Any other suggestion?
