• High CPU usage with Team Speak 3.0.0-rc2

  The CPU usage is always around 40 percent. I use push-to-talk and I had uninstalled pulseaudio. Now I use Alsa. I don't even have to connect to a Server. By simply starting TS the cpu usage goes up 40 percent and stays there. The CPU usage of 3.0.0-rc1 [Build: 14468] is constantly 14 percent. UPDATE: Thanks to nickguletskii's link I googled for "alsa cpu usage" (without quotes) and it brought me to a forum. A user wrote that by directly selecting the hardware with "plughw:x.x" won't impact the performance of the system. I have selected it in the TS 3 configuration and it worked. But this solution is not optimal because now no other program can access the sound output. If you need any further information or my question is unclear than please tell me.

But the new tag does not show up in the list of selectable tags. In order to fix this, I close and reopen emacs. But I'm sure that isn't necessary, How do I refresh this list without restarting emacs?

  I'm looking for an algorithm to infer a hierarchy from a set of tagged items. E.g. if the following items have the tags: 1 a 2 a,b 3 a,c 4 a,c,e 5 a,b 6 a,c 7 d 8 d,f Then I can construct an undirected graph (or graphs) by tallying the node weights and edge weights: node weights edge weights a 6 a-b 2 b 2 a-c 3 c 3 c-e 1 d 2 a-e 1 <-- this edge is parallel to a-c and c-e and not wanted e 1 d-f 1 f 1 The first problem is how to drop any redundant edges to get to the simplified graph? Note that it's only appropriate to remove that redundant a-e edge in this case because something is tagged as a-c-e, if that wasn't the case and the tag was a-e, that edge would have to remain. I suspect that means the removal of edges can only happen during the construction of the graph, not after everything has been tallied up. What I'd then like to do is identify the direction of the edges to create a directed graph (or graphs) and pick out root nodes to hopefully create a tree (or trees): trees a d // \\ | b c f \ e It seems like it could be a string algorithm - longest common subsequences/prefixes - or a tree/graph algorithm, but I am a little stuck since I don't know the correct terminology to search for it.

  Hi all, I have to make a project to run successfully on a Linux machine. Right now my project works very well on windows machine. On Windows machine it is compiling and working fine. My project is using one ".lib" and one ".dll" file to do the tasks successfully on Windows. Can i use the same .lib file and .dll file on linux machine to build the project successfully? I am compiling the project with G++ and using GNU Makefile to do the task. What should i do in the case that i can not use the .LIB and .DLL file on Linux machine.   Hello, I'm working on a C++ project that produces a lib that other teams use. It's being produced in a few different flavours: Win32 Debug Win32 Debug Static Win32 Release Win32 Release Static x64 Debug x64 Debug Static x64 Release x64 Release Static I'm wondering what the best wisdom is on how to name the dlls and what arguments are for different naming conventions. Do I output the libs into different directories, or do I append some letters on the end of the lib to differentiate them, or something else? One concern is that if I use directories, but don't give all the libs different names, users of the library will have problems where they accidentally use the wrong lib. Are these concerns valid? • Tagging in Subversion - how do I make the decision about continuing to work on my trunk vs. the new

  I'm running Tortoise SVN to manage a project. Obviously the principles around tagging apply to any implementation of SVN but in this question I'll be referring to some TortoiseSVN-specific dialog boxes and messages. My working directory and the subversion repository structure both have a Source root directory and the Trunk, Tags and Branches directories underneath. (I couldn't figure out how to do a multilevel indented hierarchy in markdown without using bullets, so if someone could edit and fix this I'd appreciate it.) I'm working out of the Trunk directory in my working copy and it's pointing at the Trunk directory in the repo. I want to apply a Tag "Release1" so I click the "Branch/tag..." menu option and set the repo path as my [repo_path/bla/Source/Tags/Release1" tag. This dialog box gives me the option to "Switch my working copy to new branch/tag". I understand that if this option is left unchecked, the new "Release1" branch under /Tags" will be created but my working copy will remain on the previous "Trunk" path. If I do check this option (or use the Switch command) I understand that my working copy will switch to the new "Release1" branch under "/Tags". Where I'm missing a concept is how to make this decision. It doesn't seem like I want to switch my working directory to the recently created tag since by definition (?) I want that tag to be a snapshot of my code as of a point in time. If I don't switch the working directory, I'll continue working off Trunk and when I'm ready to take another snapshot I'll make another tag. And so on... Am I understanding this right or am I stating something incorrectly in the previous paragraph (e.g. the statement about not wanting to switch to the tag since the tag should represent a point in time snapshot) or otherwise missing something regarding how to make this decision?

How does compiler know what class names are there in that library. • Boost: Although compiled, missing lib

  I've compiled Boost and am using it in a Visual C++ project. At some point, I started getting the following error: 1>LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'libboost_filesystem-vc100-mt-sgd-1_45.lib' AFAIK I have the linker configuration set correctly. I've searched for the lib and the closest I found was: libboost_filesystem-vc100-mt-gd-1_45.lib (Notice the missing 's') What does the missing 's' represent? What do these similar yet different libs stand for? How come I'm missing it although I've compiled all of Boost?

• /lib/udev/net.agent causing high CPU usage

  We have a number of Soekris boxes running Debian Squeeze. They were installed through an automated process consisting of using deboostrap and copying it unto a Compact Flash card. We use puppet to manage the configuration of all these boxes. Before Debian Squeeze, they were running Voyage Linux which is just a "lighter" version of Debian. Since we have switched, we're seeing the /lib/udev/net.agent process take up an aweful lot of CPU. We have so far been unable to find any clue as to what this really does and why it's taking up some much CPU time. In htop we see the following : We are seeing absolutly no syslog messages related to this process so we're a bit lost... So, I am looking for pointers as to what this process does in general and what could be the potential cause of such CPU usage.

  I've installed ruby 1.9 from source, and tried installing gem 'bundler': < gem install bundler > /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.9.1/yaml.rb:56:in `<top (required)>': > It seems your ruby installation is missing psych (for YAML output). > To eliminate this warning, please install libyaml and reinstall your ruby. > .... I've not been able to cleanly uninstall ruby (wtf?!), and installing libyaml at this point didn't help either. So it seems I've ended up with a fk-ed up server since I can't rollback nor fix the issue. Of course, I do have backups, but this situation is ridiculous nonetheless. Surely there must be a real fix?

• memcached install issues with lib event on server

  I've installed libevent on my server in the directory root/data/ and have i'm about to install memcached with ./configure –with-lib-event=/data/; make; make install However, after running a bit I get this error saying i'm pointing to the wrong directory for libevent. checking for libevent directory... configure: error: libevent is required. You can get it from http://www.monkey.org/~provos/libevent/ If it's already installed, specify its path using --with-libevent=/dir/ make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. • Why would autoconf/automake project link against installed library instead of local development libr

  I'm creating a library libgdata that has some tests and non-installed programs. I am running into the problem that once I've installed the library once, the programs seem to be linking to the installed version and not the local version in ../src/libgdata.la any longer. What could cause this? Am I doing something horribly wrong? Here is what my test/Makefile.am looks like: INCLUDES = -I$(top_srcdir)/src/ -I$(top_srcdir)/test/ # libapiutil contains all of our dependencies! UPDATE 2 I did two tests. First, I did this after blowing away my dev-install directory (--prefix) and in that case, it creates test/.libs/lt-gdatacalendar. Once I have installed the library, though, it creates test/.libs/gdatacalendar instead. The output of ldd is the same for both with one exception: # before install # ldd test/.libs/lt-gdatacalendar libgdata.so.0 => /home/altern8/workspaces/4355/libgdata/src/.libs/libgdata.so.0 (0xb7c32000) # after install # ldd test/.libs/gdatacalendar libgdata.so.0 => /home/altern8/workspaces/4355/dev-install/lib/libgdata.so.0 (0xb7c87000) What would cause this to create lt-gdatacalendar in one case but gdatacalendar in another?   i just introduced a bug into my code because i seem to have misunderstood the jsp tag lifecycle. The tag worked like this before the bug: i pass the tag some collection as an attribute, and it displays it as a table. The collection was passed into the JSP from the controller. after the bug: a removed the attribute which set the collection. instead, in the tag i check if the collection is null, and then grab it by name from the request (using a naming convention). the thing that i didnt expect: after the collection was initially set in the tag, it would never become null on subsequent executions! it was still defined as an non-requred attribute in the TLD. I expected the tag to not hold on to previous values between executions.
