• JQuery plugin: catch events for clicking/tabbing into and out of an input box

  I'm creating a Javascript JQuery Timepicker control plugin (which I hope to open source soon) and I would like some advice on how to best register the events in the cleanest way. The control will attach to an <input> box and provide a graphical way to enter times of day ( 14:25, 2:45 AM, etc...). It does this by adding a <div> after the input box. What I want is to bind an openControl() function that fires when the input is clicked or tabbed to, and a closeControl() function that fires when the input box is tabbed away from or deselected but not if the control itself is clicked. That is, I don't want to close the control if you're clicking inside of the control's <input> or the <div>. If I dived into this, I encountered the following: try { ... } catch (XYException e){} If the Exception would have been propagated (a change I did), I would have found the reason for the bugs in a few minutes, as the stacktrace had pointed me to the problem. So how can I convince other developers to never catch and ignore exceptions in this way?

  Why won't Java let me assign a value to a final variable in a catch block after setting the value in the try block, even if it is not possible for the final value to be written in case of an exception. To determine when the current record was to provide values (next and previous) or the value would be blank (new button) pass a boolean argument into the method. If data from the current record was to be used as fill values, pass true for both previous and next button code after moving the record pointer. If the new button was pressed and want to fill with blank values, pass false to the method. Inside the method, use a conditional expression to evaluate the boolean variable. If true, The appropriate get----() resultset method is used to fill the JTextFields. If false, fill them with "". The .setText() method of the JTextField is used to fill each JTextField. Make sure the fillTextFields method throws the appropriate exception. I understand and have the previous and next button methods passing true, while the new button method is passing false, but I don't quite understand how to set up the fillTextFields() method correctly or how to "throw the appropriate exception"... Any help would really be appreciated, thank you!

• Exim and receiving email with large recipient lists

  I have Exim4 running on Debian configured to receive mail on multiple domains. Exim is set to forward all email that is received to one of the domains to another box. This box is configured with a catchall mailbox that everything goes in. My issue is that when an email is sent to the domain, which contains a large amount of addresses (all to the same domain, but different users), Exim will receive the single email over multiple connections. This means that the catchall mailbox receives multiple copies of the single email all containing the full recipient list. For example, I was able to reproduce it by sending an email from my gmail account that contained 500 recipients (eg [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; etc. for a total of 500). Exim received the message as 20 messages (25 recipients per; appears to be a gmail server setting). So the catchall mailbox received 20 messages, each containing all 500 addresses. I'm pretty sure I understand why this is happening but is there any way I can configure Exim to only receive it once, or to combine it into one? Is there anything that can be done on my end, or am I at the mercy of the sending email server? This is causing havoc with a process that polls the catchall mailbox and parses each recipient in each email.

So I got the recommendation to add the following to my /etc/alias: postmaster:root root:[email protected] restarted postfix, and tried emailing [email protected] or [email protected] but it still won't send. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong here? I'd appreciate any help.

• Someone used my postfix smtp (port 25) to send spam mails to me

  This week, someone started to send spam-mails through my postfix-smtp access (I verified by logging in through telnet from an arbitrary pc and sending mails with any ids myself) on my server, with recipient and target being [email protected]. Since I have a catchall and mail-fowarding to my google account, I received all those (many) mails. After a lot of configuration (I lost track of what change did what, going through dozends of topics here and over the net) that hole seems fixed. Still, what hapened? Does port 25 need to be open and accepting for my catchall to work? What configuration did I do wrong? I remember the first thing I changed (that had an effect) was the inet_interface setting in main.cf, only later to find out that if this does not say "all", my mail to mydomain.com does not get forwarded any more.

• Try and catch error trapping. why is it so significant

  sorry if it sounds dumb ' as i am i a process of learnning java i try to understand , why on earth i should "try" a method to catch errors. it looks to me like the concept is:- ' letting a process run assuming its not properly developed. should i always assume that a program based on classes and inheritance is bound for unexpected errors, which i should handle with such a heavy tools like try catch throw throws ? should all java programs be included withing try catch framework?
