  • Does Apache 2.2 (windows) have any default bandwidth limit?

    I'm running Apache on a server in cloud (Windows server 2008 R2 on VMware, 1 Gbps of BW, http://95.110.164.61 ). I'm streaming many live DVB MPEG Transport Stream, precompressed in loop, (not flash) generated by VLC on port 640xx and then reverse proxied by Apache on port 80. The server's firewall is open for VLC and Apache on all ports. Above 1.5 Mbps the reproduction is affected by continous stop & go. Please note that if you request a stream generated by VLC directly at http://95.110.164.61:64087/mpg2_6.4 you see a correct stream, while if you request http://95.110.164.61/mpg2_6.4 you do not. I know that Flash streaming Server uses Apache to stream on port 80 (and it works). I'm not an expert with Apache, can anyone tell me if any "special" module is required to increase the bandwidth?

  • How do I get these permissions working right so Apache can work with the files?

    I am having a go at setting up my own Apache and can't seem to get my head around the permissions. Lets say I grab a file from somewhere off the web and it has permission of 600. I then upload this file via ftp to a user directory, which is also an apache virtual site, and so this file retains this permission of 600. This means that the user can read this file, but Apache can't: it will be forbidden. What is the most simple solution so that apache can read + write whatever files end up in the users directory? Can apache be granted some sort of root power over files in a directory?

  • How to configure Apache to act as an SSL proxy to an application server?

    I have one physical server that runs: an Apache (httpd) server another web server (let's say Tomcat for sake of argument) on port 1234 Can I configure the Apache server to act as a proxy for SSL traffic, while keeping the application server blissfully unaware of SSL? What I imagine is: Traffic to http://myserevr.com/app is redirected to https://myserver.com/app Traffic to https://myserver.com/app is proxied to the application server. My SSL certificate is only installed on the Apache server, not on the Application server Other traffic to the Apache server (http://myserver.com/anotherapp) is served directly from the Apache server What's the best setup to achieve this? (On Ubuntu, if that matters)

  • Problem with GWT behind a reverse proxy - either nginx or apache

    I'm having this problem with GWT when it's behind a reverse proxy. The backend app is deployed within a context - let's call it /context. The GWT app works fine when I hit it directly: http://host:8080/context/ I can configure a reverse proxy in front it it. A workaround is to add the context to the url for the web site: location /context/ { proxy_pass http://backend/context/; } but that means the context is now part of the url that the user sees, and that's ugly. Anybody know how to make GWT happy in this case? Software versions: GWT - 1.7.0 (same problem with 1.7.1) Jetty - 6.1.21 (but the same problem existed under tomcat) nginx - 0.7.62 (same problem under apache 2.x) I've looked at the traffic between the proxy and the backend using DonsProxy, but there's nothing noteworthy there.

    I used HTTPComponents to implement a custom web server that access SQLite database. Requests are sent via TCP/IP and I am using REST concepts. By the way my frontend is HTML/jQuery. I know it will be a lot easier if I'll just create a servlet but I am restricted to just using apache http server. I really don't get good performance in using HTTP Components.     Everything works as supposed to on the Django development server. In Apache, the django app also works except when matplotlib is used. Here's the error I get: No module named multiarray. Exception Type: ImportError Exception Value: No module named multiarray Exception Location: /usr/share/pyshared/numpy/core/numerictypes.py in <module>, line 81 Python Executable: /usr/bin/python Python Version: 2.6.4 From the python shell, both statements work: import numpy.core.multiarray and import multiarray. Any ideas? Thanks As I'm looking over the numpy files, I found the multiarray module, which has an extension of 'so'. My guess, is that mod_python is not reading these files.

    while testing Apache Cassandra, I inserted 1000 rows of data. I allow it to propagate to the other machine on LAN. This is a 2 machine cluster. I monitor the network connection between the two machine. The total data I expected to flow between the two servers should be around 25Mb including all column names, column values and timestamps). But the actual data sent and received between them was an whopping 362Mb!! Anybody knows why is there such an overwhelming overhead? Thank you

    I am trying to generate Excel reports using Apache POI 3.6 (latest). Since POI has limited support for header and footer generation (text only), I decided to start from a blank excel file with the header already prepared and fill the Excel cells using POI (cf. question 714172). Unfortunately, when opening the workbook with POI and writing it immediately to disk (without any cell manpulation), the header seems to be lost.     Yes/no-question: Is there a Groovy GDK function to capitalize the first character of a string? I'm looking for a Groovy equivalent of Perl's ucfirst(..) or Apache Commons StringUtils.capitalize(str) (the latter capitalizes the first letter of all words in the input string). I'm currently coding this by hand using .. str = str[0].toUpperCase() + str[1 .. str.size() - 1] .. which works, but I assume there is a more Groovy way to do it. I'd imagine ucfirst(..) being a more common operation than say center(..) which is a standard method in the Groovy GDK (see http://groovy.codehaus.org/groovy-jdk/java/lang/String.html).

  • Rewriting URL for tomcat through an apache AJP connector.

    I've tried several attempts to resolve this, but all have come up naught. Currently I have apache setup to forward all urls at and past the /portal/ tag to tomcat. Unfortunately, tomcat receives these requests through /portal/appName, a subdirectory in webapps rather than the webapps root directory where my wars are deployed. Is there a simple solution to this that I'm not seeing? I've been trying to use mod_rewrite to ^/portal/ $ / but that doesn't yield the expected results (perhaps I'm doing this wrong?).

    Hi all. We are generating pdf using apache's xsl fo engine, namely fop 0.95. We have been successful in displaying arabic text from xml to pdf. But there is some problem in the direction of the displayed words. If we have 'sangam' (please assume that 'sangam' is in arabic) in xml, it gets displayed as 'magnas'. Has anyone encountered this before? What could be the solution? For example, I have one node in xml file like this: <empltmoblab>??????</empltmoblab> Now when displayed in pdf, this is displayed like this: ?????? This means I am getting just the reverse. I want it as it is in xml node. Thank you.

    Hi, i'm deploying a ror application and now i have to rewrite the url (in apache) to add a prefix www to the url add / to the end of the url So i took the following approach: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/[^\.]+[^/]$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1/ [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^foo\.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.foo.com/$1 [R=301,L] The problem is that it is appending two trailing slash to my url So for example a resource /question/ask are becoming: http://foo.com//question/ask I tried to add the following Rule before all my Rewrite rules to try to remove the double //: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^// RewriteRule ([^/]*)/+(.*) http://www.foo.com/$1/$2 [R=301,L] but it didnt work.. any idea to rip off all extras "//" added to the url?

    I've been searching and reading through documents all morning and understand that I need to use some combination of chown and probably 'jailing' to securely give programmers access to directories on my centos webserver. Here's the situation: I have an apache web server that has any number of virtual sites located in /var/www/site1 /var/www/site2 etc.. I have different developers that need full access both ssh and vsFTP to only the site they are working on. What is the best way to create and maintain security in this scenario. My thought would be to create a new user for each coder, jail that user to the website directory they are allowed to work in, add their user to a group and set the webroot's owner to that group. Any thoughts? Good, bad, ugly? Thanks!

    I've setup Virtual PC and XP Mode on my Windows 7 Pro. Using Apache 2.0.52 I have no problems having my website up and running on the Windows 7 machine. But Under VPC/XP Mode the best I can do is Localhost mode. What do I need to do to enable http connections? I need the XP Mode as besides the website I also run a Web BBS and a Dos based (via telnet) BBS. Some of the apps in the Dos BBS just won't work under 64 bit, no matter what setting (capability) are used. Thanks in advance...
