  • Are there any easy ways to create a YouTube playlist or download queue from a text file?

    In other words, if I have a list with entries formatted "[Artist Name] - [Track Name]" without advanced knowledge of their corresponding YouTube URLs (if any exist), how might I script things so that YouTube searches for each entry, and generates the URLs for the first n number of identical or similar entries per a YouTube query? Do any simple solutions come to mind that might lever wget, PowerShell, or Python? Thanks!

My CEO has asked me to create a technology standards document, explaining things like the technology we use, our policy on adapting to new technology, and design standards like percent of code covered by unit tests. I've never had to do something like this, and I've spent a significant amount of time searching the web for examples, but I haven't found any at all. The closest I've found are documents describing technical specifications for an individual product. However, I'm trying to define this for the entire company. Can someone provide examples of how this document could be formatted/organized, and what the typical content would be? Thanks!

  • Create and manage child name servers (glue records) within my domain?

    Preface I use a top level domain provider that only allows me to add "normal" third-party name servers (a list where i can add "ns1.hostingcompany.com" type entries... nothing else) AND "child name servers" which i can later attach to my parent account ( ns1.myowndomain.com and an ip address). They do not provide other means of linking up. I want to host my own server and dns, even with just one name server (at first). My setup: Airport Extreme - get's a static ip address from my ISP Mac Mini Server - sits behind the Airport and get's a 10.0.1.2 My problem is that i can't seem to configure DNS correctly. I added a "child nameserver" with my airport's external static ip address at the top level provider, so to my understanding i should have all DNS traffic redirected to my Airport. I've opened port 53 UDP to let the traffic in. Now, what i don't get is this. My Mini Server is sitting on a 10.0.1.2 address and i have setup dns correctly, with an A record to point and resolve my server AND a reverse lookup to that 10.0.1.2. So it's ok for "internal stuff". Here is the clicker... How, when a request comes from the exterior for a reverse lookup, does the server "know" ... well look i have everything in 10.0.1.2 but the guy outside needs something from my real address. I can't begin to describe the MX record bonanza... How do i set this "right"? Do i "need" my Mini Server to sit on the external address directly (i can see how this could be the preferred solution, being close to a "real" server i have in my mind). If not... do i need a PTR record on the 10.0.1.2 server but with the external address in there? My dream: I will extend this "setup" with multiple Mini's in different cities where i work. I want a distributed something (Xgrid comes to mind). PS. Be gentle, i've read 2 books and the subject, and bought both the Lynda Essentials and DNS and Networking to boot, still i'm far from being on top of things.

    I'm writing VBA codes for multiple Excel spreadsheets, which will be shared with others from time to time. At some point I find there are lots of duplications in my works. So I want to find a way to share codes in a sort of Excel add-in, like the .xla file. But when I tried to save the Excel file containing shared codes as .xla file, I got some problems: The file cannot be edit anymore after I save it in the default add-in folder If I move the .xls file to a folder other than the add-in folder, and open it directly - I cannot use its classes - which creates problems for sharing the codes Any ideas to create add-ins in a flexible and powerful way please?     I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm struggling to get a table of contents going in a Word doc that's already been created. I know enough to understand that the TOC is based on the type of the header/style and indentation. My approach so far has been to auto-generate the TOC and then try (unsuccessfully) to fix the problems; perhaps this isn't the best approach in this situation. What's happening is that the TOC is missing half my sections and for others it's adding way too much detail. Again my sense is I have to "fix" individual section headings but I haven't been successful so far.

  • How do I create ruled lines in Word 2007?

    My aim is to set up Word to use the 'Cornell Notetaking method', and I would like to be able to have 'ruled lines' as part of my page in word. Currently, I have a split textbox, however obviously this does not allow the text to flow between lines. The underlining method does not work well enough, and I had read something about a college ruled template, however I was not able to find that. So is there any solution at all - by either creating lines in the textbox, or making the text flow between textbox rows?

    In the Google Maps application, when you open the menu and click on "Directions", it pops up a dialog that is unique to Google Maps. It keeps the MapView in the background, but displays the search dialog from the top (or bottom, if you're on an old version of Android). I was curious if anyone knew how they achieved this effect. I'm willing to create a custom Dialog, but it seems that Dialogs are designed to pop into the middle of the screen (any other types of dialogs are denied permission as system dialogs). What trick is Google Maps using?

Now I want to build "User" controller. what I want: if people goes to url: example.com/signup, I want use default route to "Signup" Controller if people goes to url: example.com/bobby.ariffin, I want to reroute this to "User" Controller because the url not handled by any Controller in my apps. I had create this in my config/routes.php: $route['(:any)'] = "user/$1"; but it's override all the route in my apps to "User" Controller. Is there any simple route for Codeigniter that doesn't override the other controller routes?

    Hello, I'm pretty new to the iPhone developing scene, and I am designing an app for a high school band program. Part of the app needs to be an image gallery that retrieves photos from a directory on the band's website and lists them in the thumbnail view. I can't figure out how to create a thumsview that isn't directly linked to specific pictures. I currently have this setup to work with a UIWebView that points to a PHP photo album designed to look like the iPhone Photo Album. This method works, but it is not ideal, and the navigation is obviously a bit less than what would be expected. Is Three20 the right tool for this job? If not, what should I be using? Thanks!

    I would like an exact duplicate of the following procedure on a Windows computer using mouse clicks: Right Click in a directory and choose New and then Text Document. When one does this, the text file is created with a default name of New Text Document AND it is also highlighted so that I can type in my own file name. I would like to do this in DOS. I don't care what file name is originally created. What I want is for the name of the file to automatically be highlighted / able to be renamed, so that I can rename it. How can DOS execute / simulate a rename command / an F2 being pressed on the keyboard to a file that it has just created?

    I'm building a question and answer application on top of twitter and I'm hitting some snags because I'm inevitably dealing with two classes of users: authenticated and non-authenticated. The site enable users to give points to other users, who may or may not be authenticated, and I want to create a site-wide point system where the application stores and displays this information on their profile. I want to save this point data to the user because that would be faster and more efficient but non-authenticated users aren't in our system, we only have the twitter handle. So instead we display the points in our system like this: @points = point.all( :select => "tag, count(*) AS count", # Return tag and count :group => 'tag', # Group by the tag :order => "2 desc", :conditions => {:twitter_handle => params[:username]}) Is there a better way to do this? Is there a better way to associate data with non-authenticated users?

    As the question asks, how do I generate an ssh key for the user apache on Redhat? My use case, is that we have a mercurial server running under the apache user. We also have several web servers clustered that we need to log on to manually and do pulls from. Ideally, what we'd like to do is have the mercurial server push all changes to all the webservers in the cluster. To do this, we want to use ssh, as setting up http mercurial servers on each of the web servers seems like too much work, and far too heavy. What I've tried to do is the following: > sudo mkdir /var/www/.ssh > sudo chown -R apache:nobody /var/www/.ssh > su - apache -c "ssh-keygen -t rsa" This account is currently not available. I found the above commands elsewhere, but I can only assume that Redhat has differences to whatever distro was used for the above. Is there a way I can generate an ssh-key for the apache user?

    Hello, I'd like to get the value of the id column for an object just after I've created it. But I don't want to run another query for that. My book for beginner (SQL Server 2008 for Dummies) says that there are 2 tables (inserted and deleted) that hold the last row(s) that have been inserted, updated, or deleted. Unfortunately, only Triggers (says the book) can access those tables. But, if I use triggers, they will go off each time I "insert" a row even when I don't need them that functionality. Can I obtain the same effect with a Store Procedure (without having to run a separate query?)     I have a Linux Ubuntu machine which has an X GB hard disk. There is folder, say, /opt/software/data. The disk /dev/sda1 is almost full and I have attached another disk at /dev/sda2 which is mounted at /hdd2. Is it possible for me to link the folders /opt/software/data with /hdd2/software/data so, that every file get stored in the /hdd2/software/data but may be referred from the /opt/software/data? I can't do a reinstall of the software that creates this data, to change the default location of storage.
