• How can I secure my $_GETs in PHP?

  My profile.php displays all the user's postings,comments,pictures. If the user wants to delete, it sends the posting's id to the remove.php so it's like remove.php?action=removeposting&posting_id=2. If they want to remove a picture, it's remove.php?action=removepicture&picture_id=1. Using the get data, I do a query to the database to display the info they want to delete and if they want to delete it, they click "yes". So the data is deleted via $POST NOT $GET to prevent cross-site request forgery. • dm_exec_query_stats returning stale data?

  I've been testing my app on a SQL Server 2005 database, and am trying to establish a preliminary picture of the query performance using sys.dm_exec_query_stats. Problem: there's a particular query that I'm interested in, because total_elapsed_time and last_elapsed_time are both large numbers. When I tickle my app to invoke that query (this runs successfully), then refresh my view of the stats, I find that 1) execution_count has incremented (expected) 2) last_execution_time has updated to now (expected) 3) last_elapsed_time is still a large value (not expected - I anticipated a new value) 4) total_elapsed_time is unchanged (contradiction?) If last_elapsed_time refers to the execution that happened @ last_execution_time, then the total_elapsed_time should have increased? This documentation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189741(SQL.90).aspx tells me that last_execution_time is the last time the plan was executed, and last_elapsed_time comes from the "most recently executed plan", but doesn't tell me why those might be different. The query itself is uncomplicated (SELECT/WHERE/ORDER BY - parameters appearing in the where clause, but no clever operations), the table has maybe 25 rows in it right now. Questions: 1) What's the real relationship between execution_count, last_execution_time, and last_elapsed_time? 2) Where is the documentation of this relationship (manual, third party book, blog, bug ticket, stone tablets...) ?

• Zoom in Java Swing application

  Hi there, I am looking for ways to zoom in a Java Swing application. That means that I would like to resize all components in a given JPanel by a given factor as if I would take an screenshot of the UI and just applied an "Image scale" operation. The font size as well as the size of checkboxes, textboxes, cursors etc. has to be adjusted. It is possible to scale a component by applying transforms to a graphics object: protected Graphics getComponentGraphics(Graphics g) { Graphics2D g2d=(Graphics2D)g; g2d.scale(2, 2); return super.getComponentGraphics(g2d); } That works as long as you don't care about self-updating components. If you have a textbox in your application this approach ceases to work since the textbox updates itself every second to show the (blinking) cursor. And since it doesn't use the modified graphics object this time the component appears at the old location. Is there a possibility to change a components graphics object permanently? There is also a problem with the mouse click event handlers. The other possibility would be to resize all child components of the JPanel (setPreferredSize) to a new size. That doesn't work for checkboxes since the displayed picture of the checkbox doesn't change its size. I also thought of programming my own layout manager but I don't think that this will work since layout managers only change the position (and size) of objects but are not able to zoom into checkboxes (see previous paragraph). Or am I wrong with this hypothesis? Do you have any ideas how one could achieve a zoomable Swing GUI without programming custom components? I looked for rotatable user interfaces because the problem seems familiar but I also didn't find any satisfying solution to this problem. Thanks for your help, Chris

• Using large transparent pictures as texture atlases

  i'm new to android programming and i'm trying to create a relatively big 2D game. I have to use lots of images and objects in my game so I decided to use OpenGL ES. I have several texture atlases, all of them saved as png's because of the transparency. I also know, but i'm not sure why, that I have to use images, which height and width is multiple of two. I test my game on an old HTC Hero running Android 2.3.3. When my picture atlases are 512x512 each, my game has a frame rate of between 50 to 60 fps. When I use 1024x1024 non transparent png, there is no problem - the FPS is again between 50 to 60 fps. But when i decide to use a 1024x1024 transperent PNG's my frame rate drops to 4,5 fps. Could this be a problem related to the age of the device i'm using for testing? • Multiple PictureBoxs' C#

  I'm having a hard time figuring this out. I know pictureBox only lets you display one image a time. I'm trying to create a pictureBox for each image in my collection. For instance if I have ten images in my List, then the method should create ten pictureBox for those respective images so each one is displayes in a pictureBox. I'm not sure which would be better a for loop or a foreach loop instead. every time the loop increments both the varaiables XCoordinate and YCoordinate which are the location of the PictireBox shoulld increase so that the PictureBox won't overlap one another in the Form. The reason for the method is that the number of images in the collection can change everytime the application will run. That's why I'm not creating them manually. So after its done all the pictures in the list should appear in a picture.Box. The box should be all the same size the only difference is the location on the form and the images inside them. Please any help and I will be grateful

• Projecting an object into a scene based on world coordinates only

  I want to place a 3D image into a scene base on world/global coordinates. I have an image of a scene. The image was captures at some global coordinate (x1, y1, z1). I am given an object that needs to be placed into this scene based on its global coordinate (x2, y2, y3). This object needs to be projected into the scene accurately similarly to perspective projection. An example may help to make this clear. Imagine there is a parking lot with some set of global coordinates. A picture is taken of a portion of the parking lot. The coordinates from the spot where the image was taken is recorded. The goal is to place a virtual vehicle into this image using the global coordinates for that vehicle. Because the global cooridnates for the vehicle may not be in the fov of the global coordinates for the image I am assuming that I will need the image coordinates, angle and possibly fov. 3D graphics is not my area so I have been looking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspective_projection#Perspective_projection. I have also been looking at Matrix3DProjection which seems to possibly be what I am looking for but it only works in Silverlight and I am trying to do this in WPF. In my mind it appears I need to determine the (X,Y,Z) coordinates that are in the fov of the image, determine the world coordinate to pixel conversion and then accurately project the vehicle into the image giving it the correct perspective such that is looks 3D i.e smaller the further away bigger closer Is there a function within WPF that can help with this or will I need to re-learn matrices and do this by hand?

• Issue creating side-by-side slideshows with jQuery

  I'm trying to create a site with 2 slideshows. I've tweaked and re-tweaked the JS and Jquery numerous times. Sometimes one slideshow works perfectly and the other cycles between one picture, other times both work but are out of sync, or the fadeIn doesn't seem to be applied to the second slideshow, or in some variations one slideshow stays frozen on the initial image and just remains static. Anyway, I created a JS Fiddle (link at bottom) and apparently my code is at least free of typos. JS is below, the rest is on the JS Fiddle. • jQuery: Sustain a hover over two elements

  I have an <img> that, once hovered over, animates and fades in the <div> of a larger version of the picture, along with text and a hyperlink. When mousing out, the <div> animates and fades away. This works fine, only my hover function only pertains to the <img> itself. As soon as either a) the <div> appears over the <img>, or b) one mouses off the <img> to get to the <div>, jQuery reads a mouseout and animates the <div> away. How do I re-write my jQuery to allow me to fix this? Thanks in advance ... • Dealing with large directories in a checkout

  I am trying to come up with a version control process for a web app that I work on. Currently, my major stumbling blocks are two directories that are huge (both over 4GB). Only a few people need to work on things within the huge directories; most people don't even need to see what's in them. Our directory structure looks something like: / --file.aspx --anotherFile.aspx --/coolThings ----coolThing.aspx --/bigFolder ----someHugeMovie.mov ----someHugeSound.mp3 --/anotherBigFolder ----... I'm sure you get the picture. It's hard to justify a checkout that has to pull down 8GB of data that's likely useless to a developer. I know, it's only once, but even once could be really frustrating for someone (and will make it harder for me to convince everyone to use source control). (Plus, clean checkouts will be painfully slow.) These folders do have to be available in the web application. What can I do? I've thought about separate repositories for the big folders. That way, you only download if you need it; but then how do I manage checking these out onto our development server? I've also thought about not trying to version control those folders: just update them directly on the web server... but I am not enamored of this idea. Is there some magic way to simply exclude directories from a checkout that I haven't found? (Pretty sure there is not.) Of course, there's always the option to just give up, bite the bullet, and accept downloading 8 useless GB. What say you? Have you encountered this problem before? How did you solve it?

• Manage the scrolling of just one element in a ScrollView

  So, I have a ScrollView which has cards on it. ScrollView must be paging enabled. The goal is that the user must be able to scroll it, even if it has only one card. Since i am having the frame of ScrollView of exactly the same width and height as a picture of a card, i decided to increase the width of a ScrollView.contentSize and add one point to it. It turns out to be working fine, but it glitches a bit - when i drag the card to the left, and then grab it again it moves to right a little bit (i guess, for the value of that one point). If i increase the contentSize, the shift increases too (for example, if the content size is increased by ten, the shift value is ten points too). It really irritates me a lot and I want to get rid of it. Any advice on how to do that? Help is much appreciated. UPD: I tried to manually re-center the card in the scrollViewDidEndDecelerating but that didn't help. My guess for now is that the problem can be solved by setting the content offset to the right value (because now it's (0,0)), but I can't figure out how to do it.

• How can I center a CSS background image as if the image had a different width (without cutting the bgimg off)?

  I'm attempting to add a bookmarklet to my wop website. The issue is that I would like to have the bookmarklet (highlighted in red in the picture below) centered as if it did not have the arrow sticking out the side. If I change the width of the bgimage in the css, to be the same as the below indented box thingies, it centers how I would like it to. But, it cuts off a bit of the arrow. • way to change value of h2 on div hover

  So basically making some concept logic for a project I am working on. Basically it's a portfolio and each box will be a picture and I want to be able to change the value of a h2 to some type of description. Right now it's just a black box so 'square1, square2, square3...etc' will work for now. I looked up some stuff on jquery and found this link from an SO answer. Basically what I need but he is only shifting through one piece of information instead of many in my case. Wondering how I can achieve that via jquery. I imagine I would need to make an array with all the descriptions I need, and (this is where I am lost) somehow attach the value of array to the square and then from there change text of h2 to the array value. • Injection of banners in my webbrowsers possible malware

  Recently I have started to suspect that I have some kind of virus on my computer. There are 3 symptoms: Banners are being displayed on pages that doesn't use commercials, for instance when viewing screen-shots on Steam. It is only displayed after the rest of the page has been loaded and seems to be injected into it. The whole page is replaced with a commercial with the option to skip the commercial. The page is replaced with a search window claiming that the page could not be found. I have tried to scan my computer with Antivir and Adaware but only found a couple of tracking cookies. I have run HijackThis but since this isn't really my area I haven't been able to discern what shouldn't be there except the line about zonealarm since I have uninstalled it. Is there anyone out there who is able to see if there is anything suspicious in the log-file at the end or has suggestions regarding programs that might be better to find the virus than Antivir and Adaware? Error: The error is visible in Event Viewer under Applications and is as follows: .NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3607 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A09795E) (80131506) The computer running it is Windows XP Professional SP 3. (Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4GHz w/ 2.0 GB of RAM) Other .NET-based projects that lack multi-threaded downloading (see below) seem to run just fine. Application: The application is written in C#/.NET 3.5 using VS2008, and installed via a setup project. The app is multi-threaded and downloads data from multiple web servers using System.Net.HttpWebRequest and its methods. I've determined that the .NET error has something to do with either threading or HttpWebRequest but I haven't been able to get any closer as this particular error seems impossible to debug. I've tried handling errors on many levels, including the following in Program.cs: // handle UI thread exceptions Application.ThreadException += new ThreadExceptionEventHandler(Application_ThreadException); // handle non-UI thread exceptions AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(CurrentDomain_UnhandledException); Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); // force all windows forms errors to go through our handler Application.SetUnhandledExceptionMode(UnhandledExceptionMode.CatchException); More Notes and What I've Tried... Installed Visual Studio 2008 on the target machine and tried running in debug mode, but the error still occurs, with no hint as to where in source code it occurred. When running the program from its installed version (Release) the error occurs more frequently, usually within minutes of launching the application. When running the program in debug mode inside of VS2008, it can run for hours or days before generating the error. Reinstalled .NET 3.5 and made sure all updates are applied. Broke random cubicle objects in frustration. Rewritten parts of code that deal with threading and downloading in attempts to catch and log exceptions, though logging seemed to aggravate the problem (and never provided any data). Question: What steps can I take to troubleshoot or debug this kind of error? Memory dumps and the like seem to be the next step, but I'm not experienced at interpreting them. Perhaps there's something more I can do in the code to try and catch errors... It would be nice if the "Fatal Execution Engine Error" was more informative, but internet searches have only told me that it's a common error for a lot of .NET-related items.

• sharepoint search is not working

  Hi all, I have an issue with SharePoint search. The situation The server is installed with SharePoint on a farm with 2 servers. A new app pool is created and that app pool is using a domain account called moss_service. moss_service is set to be in the administrator group in both server. moss_service is also set to be the db_creator in the content database. When I checked it initially, the search's default content access account is using another different account, I changed that to be using moss_service account. I didn't do IIS reset because this is a production server, they dont want frequent iis reset. Strangely, checking the services.msc under "office sharepoint server search" the account is still using an old one. (and apparently it's only running on 1 server, the other server is not running) I then change that to the following: domain\moss_service with the password. and then I rerun the crawl. How do I diagnose the issue Basically everytime I change something I restart the crawl and then check the event viewer. Multiple things come out but the following is the major ones: The start address cannot be crawled. The password for the content access account cannot be decrypted because it was stored with different credentials. Re-type the password for the account used to crawl this content. (0x80042406) Performance monitoring cannot be initialized for the gatherer object, because the counters are not loaded or the shared memory object cannot be opened. This only affects availability of the perfmon counters. Restart the computer. Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (0x80041205) Crawl Logs Result The crawl log is showing this: The password for the content access account cannot be decrypted because it was stored with different credentials. Re-type the password for the account used to crawl this content. I tried changing it again at service.mstsc and the rerun the full crawl again but then it doesn't work. I have tried entering it using the following way: [email protected] and domain\moss_service My Questions are: How do I fix this? Is this the right way to setup the search? Does the search account has to be using a different domain account? Seemed like one fix complicates the other, how do I set this right? Is it worth it to upgrade to sp2?

  hey everyone. hope you could help me out am working on this website and i've finished all the hover effects i like - they're exactly how i want them to be: http://s5ent.brinkster.net/beta3.asp - try hovering over the four links and you'll see a very simple fade effect at work, which degrades into a regular css hover without javascript. what i plan to do is to make the page look like it had a fancy slideshow going on upon loading and while idle, and i wanted to achieve that by capitalizing on the existing hover styling/behavior of the main page links instead of using another script to create the effect from scratch. to do this i imagined i'll need a script that emulates a hover action on each link at regular time intervals once the page has loaded, starting from left to right (footcare, lawn & equipment, about us, contact us), looping through all 4 links indefinitely (footcare, lawn & equipment, about us, contact us, footcare, lawn& equipment, etc.) but pauses when any of them have been actually hovered over by a viewer and resumes from wherever the user left off upon mouseout. hope you get my drift... i also want to achieve this without unnecessarily disrupting the current html. so i guess everything will have to be done by scripting as much as possible.. i'm very new to javascript and jquery. as you can see at s5ent.brinkster.net/beta3.1-autohover.asp, the following script i made works wrong: it hovers-on all of them at the same time and doesn't hover-out anymore. when you try to actually hover into and out of each link the link just comes back on: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { var speed = 5000; var run = setInterval('rotate()', speed); }); function rotate() { $('.lilevel1 a').each(function(i) { $(this).mouseover(); }); } </script> it's just gross. aside from the fact that this last bit of script isn't even working in ie. could you please help me make this thing happen? that'd be really sweet, guys. i know there are tonsa geniuses out there who could whip this up in no time. or if you have a better way to go about it by all means kindly lemme know. thanks guys, hope you're all havin a blast.

• realtime logging

  I have an application which has a loop, part of a "Scheduler", which runs at all time and is the heart of the application. Pretty much like a game loop, just that my application is a WPF application and it's not a game. Naturally the application does logging at many points, but the Scheduler does some sensitive monitoring, and sometimes it's impossible just from the logs to tell what may have gotten wrong (and by wrong I don't mean exceptions) or the current status. Because Scheduler's inner loop runs at short intervals, you can't do file I/O-based logging (or using the Event Viewer) in there. First, you need to watch it in real-time, and secondly the log file would grow in size very fast. So I was thinking of ways to show this data to the user in the realtime, some things I considered: Display the data in realtime in the UI Use AllocConsole/WriteConsole to display this information in a console Use a different console application which would display this information, communicate between the Scheduler and the console app using pipes or other IPC techniques Use Windows' Performance Monitor and somehow feed it with this information ETW Displaying in the UI would have its issues. First it doesn't integrate with the UI I had in mind for my application, and I don't want to complicate the UI just for this. This diagnostics would only happen rarely. Secondly, there is going to be some non-trivial data protection, as the Scheduler has it's own thread. A separate console window would work probably, but I'm still worried if it's not too much threshold. Allocating my own console, as this is a windows app, would probably be better than a different console application (3), as I don't need to worry about IPC communication, and non-blocking communication. However a user could close the console I allocated, and it would be problematic in that case. With a separate process you don't have to worry about it. Assuming there is an API for Performance Monitor, it wouldn't be integrated too well with my app or apparent to the users. Using ETW also doesn't solve anything, just a random idea, I still need to display this information somehow. What others think, would there be other ways I missed?

• Please help with 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the name...

  My application works just fine until, in some unidentified conditions, it begins throwing this errors: When these errors start appearing, they appear in all over the application, no matter the code is built using ObjectDataSource or SqlDataSource. However, apparently, if the code uses some "classic", code-behind data-binding, that code does not throw errors (they do not show in the application event log), the page is displayed but it does not contain any data.... • log4net not logging with a mixture of .net 1.1 and .net 3.5

  Hi All, I have an iis server on a windows 2003 production machine that will not log using log4net in the .net3.5 web application. Log4net works fine in the 1.1 apps using log4net version 1.2.9.0 and but not the 3.5 web app. The logging works fine in a development and staging environment but not in production. It does not error and I receive no events logged in the event viewer and don't know where to look next. I have tried both versions of log4net (1.2.9.0 and 1.2.10.0) and both work in development and staging but not in production. For testing purposes I have created just a single page application that just echos back the time when the page is hit and also is supposed to log to my logfile using log4net.
