• UPnP with ushare to an xbox 360 arcade

  I am looking for sharing things like a folder with ushare. I got the program running with xbox to play the music but it crashes through a song. Does anyone know how to fix it? My router is echolife (it came with the talktalk broadband). It looks like a picture frame you find it if you live in the UK. Just want to ask if it can be fixed or if it is a router problem. Do I need to configure anything in ushare?

• How to test the render speed of my solution in a web browser?

  Ok, I need to test the speed of my solution in a web browser, but I have some problems, there are 2 versions of the web solution, the original one that is on server A and the "fixed" version that is on server B. I have VS2010 Ultimate, so I can make a web and load test on solution B, but I can't load the A solution on my IDE. I was trying to use fiddle2 and jmeter, but they only gave me the times of the request and response of the browsers with the server, I also want the time it takes to the browser to render the whole page. Maybe I'm misusing some of this tools... I don't know if this could be usefull but: Solution A is on VB 6.0 Solution B is on VB.Net Thanks in advance!

• distance between two points across land using sql server

  I am looking to calculate the shortest distance between two points inside SQL Server 2008 taking into account land mass only. I have used the geography data type along with STDistance() to work out point x distance to point y as the crow flies, however this sometimes crosses the sea which i am trying to avoid. I have also created a polygon around the land mass boundary I am interested in. I believe that I need to combine these two methods to ensure that STDistance always remains within polygon - unless there is a simpler solution. Thanks for any advice

  I'm trying to create a way of deploying a set of tools (which are add-ins to 3rd party software) to my users. I would like to do the following: User Enters Serial Dlls in their directory structure is extracted to program files a file is copied to a location in ProgramData (this registers my add-ins to the 3rd party application) Online activation for software is performed Can anyone point me into the right direction for this? I had a look at deployment projects in Visual Studio but I'm not sure if they are what I'm after. Main problem is they are ugly, I would like to have a nice WPF installer, and have a more custom experience. But I guess that can be traded off if its going to make things easier. I was thinking, I could just make my own C# project that extracts the files, but I have no idea how to package them up and extract them all as part of one download (like the MSI files that the deployment projects create). Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  When I worked in Microsoft on MSE antivirus, we had several stages of pre-release: Alpha, Beta, RC. The biggest difference between these stages were bug fixes. Each time we fixed more bugs, and usually updated some minor features. Apple works in the same way. Why do these big companies work like this? Isn't it better to release a beta version that was tested very thoroughly but one that just doesn't provide all the features that the final version will provide?

• How many cron jobs are too many?

  I have a couple of cron jobs for basic maintenance which aren't very resource-intensive. I also have custom task scheduling (which is just calling a .php file and passing information via GET, ie: cronjob.php?param1=param ...). These can add up pretty quickly. These just call system commands and run external programs (Nmap is one of them). They usually don't take long either. Anyway, can anyone tell me, roughly what point is too many? I know it's hard to say since it depends on what job is being run and how often, but at what point does the crontab program start "struggling"? Anyone have any idea? Thanks.

  I was recommended by someone in Stack Overflow to use Core Data Editor http://christian-kienle.de/CoreDataEditor/ to manage the sqlite persistent store. However the latest version (3.0) crashes on launch everytime. Older versions load but I see nothing when i point the config to the persistent store and the object model directories. There is no documentation either. can someone point me to the right place to sort this problem? I am trying to find a more manageable way to coordinate core data development than sqlite consoles. thank you

• How to Add a File from my source tree to Maven Site

  I have a Maven 2 RESTful application using Jersey/JAXB. I generate the JAXB beans from a schema file, where the schema file is in my resources directory, e.g., src/main/resources/foo.xsd. I want to include foo.xsd file in the generated Maven site for my project, so that clients can see the XML schema when writing RESTful calls. How can I include foo.xsd in the site? I could have a copy of the file in src/main/site/..., and then update my site.xml to point to it (or have a .apt whose contents point to it), but I don't like that because I'm still tweaking foo.xsd, and don't want to have to remember to copy it each time I update it. And that's just bad practice. I also tried having a .apt file that has a link to the foo.xsd which gets copied to the target/classes directory. That works until I do a site:deploy, because that only copies the target/site directory. Thanks, Charles

  Hello! My task is to make a control, that behaves itself like RichTextBox, but contains a graphical net. The only task, this net is solving, is to be visible. It should be solution in overriding OnPaint method, but it doesn't. • Resetting network adapter?

  I'm running Ubuntu 12.04. I get a strong wireless signal throughout my house, and the wireless symbol in the upper-right-hand corner shows that it's connected. The problem is, occasionally I am unable to access the internet (still having a strong symbol). This happened with Windows 7, too, but running the network troubleshooter fixed it each time. It claimed to be "resetting the network adapter". So, what I need to know is: How do I replicate that process on Ubuntu? Thanks for your help!

  How to convert from Euler's coordinates E1 = (x1, y1, z1, yaw1, pitch1, roll1) to E2 = (x2, y2, z2, yaw2, pitch2, roll2) where x, y, z are the coordinates of a point and yaw, pitch, roll the direction/orientation of a vector which origin is the point. yaw is around y, pitch around x, roll around z. They are performed in that order. Yaw 0 is normal to the plan xy (opposite to z in E1 and equal to z in E2). E1 uses a right handed space and E2 a left handed space. Both have the same origin, the same direction for y (top) and z (into the screen). They differ by x which is to the left on E1 and to the right on E2. They also differ by their direction of positive rotations. I've a custom type to hold the scalar representation and to convert from and to the equivalent WPF Matrix3d representation.

  I want to add autorandr before kdm starts. Autorandr works well within KDE, however, in kdm I still have ugly 1024x768 resolution when my external monitor is connected. I tried adding autorandr --change to /etc/kde4/kdm/Xsetup: #! /bin/sh # Xsetup - run as root before the login dialog appears #xconsole -geometry 480x130-0-0 -notify -verbose -fn fixed -exitOnFail -file /dev/xconsole & /sbin/initctl -q emit login-session-start DISPLAY_MANAGER=kdm /usr/local/bin/autorandr --change >> /tmp/autorandr echo "Xsetup finished" >> /tmp/xsetup-finished A debug message in /tmp/xsetup-finished appears correctly. /tmp/autorandr is empty (so it seems autorandr runs without errors). I also tried to move autorandr --change line before /sbin/initctl -q emit login-session-start DISPLAY_MANAGER=kdm with no effect. P.S. Of course, autorandr profiles I created under KDE session, are in my home folder, but Xsetup script runs under root, so I created a symlink from my ~/.autorandr to /root/.autorandr.

• Using OnNcHItTest for a CWnd not CDialog

  I have a CWnd Derived object used in a dialog. I need to be able to drag it anywhere in the dialog. I have a code overriding OnNCHitTest for moving a dialog dragging it from a place other than the title bar. Is there any equivalent code to do the same to move this CWnd. The following code isnt working.   Hello all I am using google maps in my application. I have to show 100 markers on map. First I prepared a markers array from these markers. When markers are added using addOverlay from markers array, it takes some time and they are being added in some animated way (in sequence). I want all of them to get added to map in a single shot, so no flickering effect. I tried MarkerClusterer but it shows a cluster of markers where the need be. Instead I want all the markers to appear, not a cluster. The problem is i don't know how to make the marker point match the coordinates.   I've been a software developer for 20 years. i've been involved in language development and large data warehouse development. I've worked for start-ups that have gone public, and for government contractors, and I've written a published programming book. My knowledge is either self-taught or on-the-job. I've worked with some of the best and brightest, and they taught me well. I'm back in school now, and am weighing my options, deciding between a Computer Science and a business degree. My question is this. What do I gain, at this point in my career, by earning a Computer Science degree? I just don't know if a Computer Science degree, at this point, is a value-add on my resume. Edit: I'm working on completing an undergraduate degree.

• How can the Ubuntu font be used with LyX or LaTeX?

  I use LyX for creating documents and would like to be able to format the output of my documents so that they use the Ubuntu font. In the LyX document settings, it appears that there are only a fixed number of fonts available. Is it possible to add the Ubuntu font to this list? If not, is there a way to use the Ubuntu font in LaTeX? I can export the LyX document to LaTeX, make my changes and then use pdflatex & co. to create a formatted document.

• My presentation layer does not match my model layer even though I have no animations

  On iPhone I have a CALayer that I animate via Core Animation. Then at some point I change view controllers. I then return to the view controller with the CALayer and in viewWillAppear: I set the frame and position properties on my layer to move it back to its starting point. Setting these properties changes the model layer but the presentation layer still has the old values and its presentation layer does not update until the next animation I play. In the CA Programming guide it says "You can query an instance of CALayer for its corresponding presentation layer while an animation transaction is in process." Which, to me, implies that the presentation layer should only be different from the model layer during an animation. But there are no animations currently running. I even used kCATransactionDisableActions to ensure that when I set the position property an implicit animation is not started. Does anyone know why my presentation and model layers are out of sync? • Sequence Diagram Reverse Engineering Tool?

  It's essential for me to find a tool that will reverse engineer sequence diagrams by integrating with the debugger. I suppose using the profiler could work also but less desirable. It's a key requirement that the tool in question will record all threads of execution since the app, TickZoom, is heavily parallelized. We just evaluated a most awesome tool from Sparx called Enterprise Architect which integrates with the debugger. It allows you to set a break point, start recording method traces from that break point. It's a lovely design and GUI. Hope it works for you but it only records a single thread of execution so that makes it unusable for us. I will put in a feature request to Sparx. But hope to find a similar tool that already does this since that's the only feature we need--not all the other amazing features that Sparx Enterprise Architect appears to do rather well.
