  • SQL query to get field value distribution

    I have a table of over 1 million test score records that basically have a unique score_ID, a subject_ID and a score given by a person. The score range for most subjects is 0-3, but some have a range of 0-4. There are about 25 possible subjects. I need to produce a score distribution report which looks like: subject_ID 0 1 2 3 4 ---------- --- --- --- --- --- 1 967 576 856 234 2 576 947 847 987 324 . . So it groups the data by subject_ID, then shows how many times a specific score value was given within that subject. Any SQL pointers to generate this would be greatly appreciated.

    I display elements in a hierarchy, clicking one displays the next set of elements in the hirearchy. Each element has a tag called "level" which has some value which is 1-.... (whatever the number of levels is for that branch of the tree). When an element is clicked I want the next elements to be displayed, but if an element is clicked and it's subelements have already been displayed I want to hide all subelements. More formally: when an element with level = x is clicked if no elements with level x are displayed then display all elements such that level = x+1 but if some elements with level x are displayed then hide all elements where level x How would I create a jQuery selector that captures this.

Where can I find a table of default behavior when the value of a data type is out of range for different data types? Current and Next in table StatusTransition are FK (StatusType.Id).     I have an existing Scala application and it uses case classes which are then persisted in MongoDB. I need to introduce a new field to a case class but the value of it is derived from existing field. For example, there is phone number and I want to add normalised phone number while keeping the original phone number. I'll update the existing records in MongoDB but I would need to add this normalisation feature to existing save and update code. So, is there any nice shortcut in Scala to add a "hook" to a certain field of a case class? For example, in Java one could modify setter of the phone number.

    I want to use an Enum value for the types of VaryByCustom parameters I will support, is it possible to do this? I tried setting it in the page itself <%@ OutputCache Duration="600" VaryByParam="none" VaryByCustom='<%=VaryByCustomType.IsAuthenticated.ToString(); %>' %> But this returned the entire literal string "<%=VaryByCustomType.IsAuthenticated.ToString(); %>" inside my global.asax is there any way to do this either on the page itself or from the codebehind? Or is this just something I have to accept is purely magic strings and nothing I can do to add type safety to it?

  • Insert hex string value to sql server image field is appending extra 0

    Have an image field and want to insert into this from a hex string: insert into imageTable(imageField) values(convert(image, 0x3C3F78...)) however when I run select the value is return with an extra 0 as 0x03C3F78... This extra 0 is causing a problem in another application, I dont want it. How to stop the extra 0 being added? The schema is: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[templates]( [templateId] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [templateName] [nvarchar](50) NOT NULL, [templateBody] [image] NOT NULL, [templateType] [int] NULL) and the query is: insert into templates(templateName, templateBody, templateType) values('I love stackoverflow', convert(image, 0x3C3F786D6C2076657273696F6E3D.......), 2) the actual hex string is quite large to post here.

    I am working on fixing a bug in VB that is giving this error. I am new to VB, so there is some syntax that I am not fully understanding. The code that is throwing the error says: .Row(itemIndex).Item("parentIndex") = CLng(oID) + 1000000 I understand that adding 1000000 is too much for an int16. I can't change that value (not right now anyway). What I don't understand, and can't seem to find, is what .Row is referring too. Any ideas?

    In R, "assign('x',v)" sets the object whose name is 'x' to v. Replace 'x' by the result of applying a text function to a variable x. Then "assign" shows its worth. Unfortunately, "assign(paste('names(','x',')',sep=''),v)" fails. So if 'x' is a variable x, I can set its value, but I can't give it names for its elements. Can one work around this? a parse-eval trick maybe? Thanks.

  • Livevalidation: only validate when default value is changed

    Hello there! I am validating my html form with livevalidation and everything works great except for one feature. I have a input field with a default value age, I only want the livevalidation to validate when it says something other than "age". so maybe the user will type in 20 then the validation will fire checking its things but if left as "age" it won't check it all. But as of now, it just checks everything with a validation script and this is a problem for me as I have lots of fields in my form and some of them are optional so when I hit submit, the livevalidation checks the age field as well even if the user didnt touch it to begin with. Would this be possible with livevalidation ? Thanks for the help.

    My function below calls a partial view after a user enters a filter-by string into the text box '#DocId'. When the user is done typing, the partial view is displayed with filtered data. Since my textbox needs to be in the partial view, when user is done entering a filter-by string and is shown the filtered data, the textbox is reset and the user entered data is lost. How can I set the value of the textbox back to the user entered string after the partial view is displayed?     I have a GridView that is bound to a LINQDataSource control that is returning a collection of customers. Within my DataGrid I need to display the home phone number of a customer, if they have one. The phone numbers of a customer are stored in a separate table with a foreign key pointing to the customer table. The following binding expression gets me the first phone number for a customer: <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="LastName" SortExpression="LastName"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="PhoneLabel" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("Phones[0].PhoneNumber") %>'></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> I need to figure out how to get the home phone number specifically (filter based on phone type) and handle the scenario where the customer does not have a home phone in the database. Right now it's throwing an out of range exception if the customer does not have any phone numbers. I've tried using the Where operator with a lambda expression to filter the phone type but it doesn't work: <%# Eval("Phones.Where(p => p.PhoneTypeId == 2).PhoneNumber") %> Solutions or links to any good articles on the subject would be much appreciated.

  • Gson serialization depending on field value

    I have a POJO that is similar to: public class MyGsonPojo { @Expose @SerializedName("value1") private String valueOne; @Expose @SerializedName("value2") private boolean valueTwo; @Expose @SerializedName("value3") private int valueThree; // Getters and other stuff here } The issue is that this object has to be serialized into a json body for a call to the server. Some fields are optional for the request and if I even send it with default and null values, the API responds differently (Unfortunately changing the api is not an option). So basically I need to exclude fields from serialization if any of them is set to a default value. For example if the field valueOne is null the resulting json should be: { "value2" : true, "value3" : 2 } Any idea how to make this a painless effort? I wouldn't want to build the json body manually. Any help would be great. Thank you in advice.
