  I have a list of data in a JList component in my GUI. I would like to know if there is a method that i can call on the list element(s) to strike through a particular element in the list. I would like to draw a line through the element to appear as if that element is canceled.   I have an Appwidget displaying days until an event like: eventname (-231 days) If possible I want to display this String in one line. If the eventname is too long I want to display the full term in braces into a new line. So that it is like: longeventname (-231 days) instead of: longeventname (-231 days) (or anything similar) Is there a way to archive this? Can I make (-231 days) "atomic"? string.getLength won't work since the size of the widget will vary by device.

  I find myself doing the following or similar quite often: Request::instance()->redirect(Route::get('route')->uri(array('action' => 'action'))); Or: Request::instance()->redirect(Route::get(Route::name(Request::instance()->route))->uri(array('action' => 'action'))); I'm wondering if there's any short, easier, simpler way of doing this. I love the Route functionality, but it makes for some long lines of PHP.

  I know generics are in C# to fulfill a role similar to C++ templates but I really need a way to generate some code at compile time - in this particular situation it would be very easy to solve the problem with C++ templates. Does anyone know of any alternatives? Perhaps a VS plug-in that preprocesses the code or something like that? It doesn't need to be very sophisticated, I just need to generate some methods at compile time.

  I want to achieve something similar to what these guys do here: - (NSUInteger)countForFetchRequest:(NSFetchRequest *)request error:(NSError **)error like you can see, you pass an NSError pointer and that nice method will assign a real NSError object to your pointer in case there is an error. So the cool thing about this is, that the method returns an NSUInteger but can ALSO return an NSError, without having to mess around with ugly and fat arrays or dictionaries. So how could I assign an object to the passed-in error pointer?
