  • Is there any difference between Spring and Spring.net?

    Hello, I've been using Spring with Java and I've seen that there is a version called Spring.NET. I wonder if there is any significant difference between them (apart from that one is for Java and the other is for .NET). Is it just a "language translation" of the framework or are they different project with just a similar purpose? Thanks.

  • Faster way to dump mysql

    This may be a dumb question, but I was just watching a screencast on MySQL replication, and I learned that a master database doesn't send SQL over to a slave for replication, it actually sends data over in binary, which makes importing extremely fast. I started wondering, "if a database can export and import binary, why do mysqldumps / imports take so long?" Is there a way to get mysql to dump a database in binary in a similar fashion to speed up that process as well?

  • Replace text in XSL using wildcards

    This is similar to an earlier problem I was having which you guys solved in less than a day. I am working with XML files that are generated by a digital video camera. The camera allows the user to save all of the camera's settngs to an SD card so that the settings can be recalled or loaded into another camera. The XSL stylesheet I am writing will allow users to view the camera's settings, as saved to the SD card in a web browser. While most of the values in the XML file -- as formatted by my stylesheet -- make sense to humans, some do not. What I would like to do is have the stylesheet display text that is based on the value in the XML file but more easily understood by humans. A typical value that can be written to the XML file is "_23_970" which represents the camera's frame rate. This would be better displayed as 23.970 (or 023.970). The first underscore is a sort of place holder to make a space for values over 099.999. The second underscore, obviously represents the decimal. My previous (similar) question involved replacing predictable text, and the solution was matching templates. In this case, however, the camera can be set at any one of 119,999 frame rates (I think I did that math correctly). The approach, I would guess, is to pass a value to the displayed webpage that keeps the numeric values (each digit), replaces the second underscore with a decimal, and replaces the first underscore with either an nbsp or a zero (whichever is easier). If the first character in the string is a "1" (the camera can run at frame rates up to 120.000) then the one should be passed on to the page displayed by the stylesheet. I have read other posts here regarding wildcards, but couldn't find one that answered this question. EDIT: Sorry for leaving out important info. I fared better on my first try at asking a question! I guess I got complacent. Anyhow . . .     while the application is running i'm using FileSystemWatcher to monitor the folder. But what if there are changes to the folder when the application is not running, how can I check for these changes when the application starts. (similar to how windows media player, for example, monitors your music folder. Even when you add songs to that folder when it is not running, it does discover them when it runs next time) Thanks

  • iPhone OS 3.2 (iPad) Modal View question

    I am presenting a UIViewController as a modal viewcontroller with modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet. I have few UITextFields on its view. My issue is that when I try to dismiss the keyboard ([textfieldname resignFirstResponder]), it doesn't do anything. However when I change the modalPresentationStyle to UIModalPresentationPageSheet, it works. This seems to be a bug. Has any one faced similar problems and found a work around? Could I be doing anything dumb and silly?

    I'm writing a multi-threaded application in Delphi and need to use something to protect shared resources. In C# I'd use the "lock" keyword: private someMethod() { lock(mySharedObj) { //...do something with mySharedObj } } In Delphi I couldn't find anything similar, I found just TThread.Synchronize(someMethod) method, which prevents potential conflicts by calling someMethod in main VCL thread, but it isn't exactly what I want to do....   • Why is "int + string" possible in statically-typed C# but not in dynamically-typed Python?

    While studying C# I found it really strange, that dynamically typed Python will rise an error in the following code: i = 5 print i + " " whereas statically typed C# will normally proceed the similar code: int i = 5; Console.Write(i + " "); I would expect other way around (in python I would be able to do this without any casting, but C# would require me to cast int to string or string to int). Just to highlight, I am not asking what language is better, I am curious what was the reason behind implementing the language this way.
