  I'm trying to convert a Fortan77 program to C#. I have a subroutine with about 650 lines of code and horrific GOTO statements all over the place. I'm having a lot of trouble even starting to visualise the flow of the subroutine to figure out what it does. Is there anybody with experience in this sort of thing who could give me any advice on how to get an overview of this subroutine?   I installed Ubuntu 12.04 with encrypted Home-directory. When I first booted I was given the option to store a key file to some Flash-drive (USB) or anything and there was a hint how to do it later. I wanted to do it later but now can't find where to find or how to generate the key file in any documentation. So whats the command, where's the file?   Ok, so I upgraded to 12.10 and have been trying out Unity, my screen has become a complete mess of folders and files. "Back in the day" the folders that were on my screen were the ones shown in the .Desktop directory now it seems like all the files in my login directory are there (that is a lot of files) Is there some way to set the files being diplayed to come from a specific directory? if so how? I think I've gone through every panel of the system settings application.

• Toshiba A105 s4244 microphone doesn't work

  I have installed ubuntu on my toshiba laptop and whenever I connect a microphone it doesn't detect any sounds at all. Everything worked well under xp. When I try sound recorder to record sounds it registers no sounds. The only thing that actually gets recorded is a sound when I remove or connect the microphone in its socket(a kind of a "click"). No its NOT muted I checked a million times. Thanks a lot!

  I recently converted an old application that was using XML files as the data store to use SQL instead. To avoid a lot of changes I basically created ActiveRecord style classes that inherited from the original business objects. For example SomeClassRecord :SomeClass //ID Property //Save method I then used this new class in place of the other one, because of polymorphism I didn't need to change any methods that took SomeClass as a parameter. Would this be considered 'Bad'? What would be a better alternative?

  A lot of people seem to have had success in getting hardware acceleration for intel 82852/855GM chipsets with the ppa:glasen/intel-driver. I've tried it on my Motion Computing M1400 but get a "no screens found" error. I've found one person out there with a similar problem who seemed to fix it, but his solution is in German and seems to involve recompiling the kernel (it's at the bottom of the comments).
