  • Cannot run Android "Camera Preview" sample

    - by noisesolo
    The sample I'm referring to is: CameraPreview. The program simply force closes upon start up. I've also tried other camera demos that have the same problem. I'm trying to run the samples on my Nexus One and the emulator with the same problem on both. I'm not even sure if the emulator should be able to run them or not. Based on LogCat, the error is: 06-08 16:39:10.483: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): java.lang.RuntimeException: Fail to connect to camera service 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.hardware.Camera.native_setup(Native Method) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.hardware.Camera.<init>(Camera.java:110) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.hardware.Camera.open(Camera.java:90) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at com.example.android.apis.graphics.Preview.surfaceCreated(CameraPreview.java:69) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.SurfaceView.updateWindow(SurfaceView.java:454) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.SurfaceView.dispatchDraw(SurfaceView.java:287) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1529) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1258) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.View.draw(View.java:6557) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.widget.FrameLayout.draw(FrameLayout.java:352) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewGroup.drawChild(ViewGroup.java:1531) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchDraw(ViewGroup.java:1258) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.View.draw(View.java:6557) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.widget.FrameLayout.draw(FrameLayout.java:352) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.draw(PhoneWindow.java:1830) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewRoot.draw(ViewRoot.java:1349) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewRoot.performTraversals(ViewRoot.java:1114) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1633) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4363) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) 06-08 16:39:10.494: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(6726): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) All I did to try out the sample was create a new Android 2.1update1 Project, named everything according to the supplied Java file, copied the Java file from the URL to the CameraPreview.java file, then run it. Am I supposed to do anything else? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The application have a good internet connection and there is no problem reaching the app server-side api. I see in analytics that lots of startups and click-events the past few days are lost, even I know the traffic is normal since i can see statistics from the the server api. In the analytics reports I see a day by day under-reporting. So the problems seems to be spreading/growing to all the devices using this application. Im wondering why google does not answer this in their mail-groups - several people have complained about this...well, well... I found this thread relevant: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/682560/java-net-socketexception-broken-pipe But, I'm still not sure if there is anything I can do to fix it or not. If there is nothing I can do to fix it, I guess its not my fault that it got broken. But i got a feeling it is, since the problem got dramatically worse on the last deploy to Android market. Anyone else with experience on Google Analytics for android ?

  • Android 2.1 GoogleMaps ItemizedOverlay ConcurrentModificationException

    - by Soumya Simanta
    Hi, I cannot figure out the origin of the ConcurrentModificationException. In my activity I'm calling updateMapOverlay(). I'm also calling updateMapOverlay() inside another Thread (a TimerTask) that is invoked on regular intervals. I'm taking the appropriate locks when invoking updateMapOverlay() from both the threads. Is this problem being caused because I'm invoking updateMapOverlay from inside a non-UI thread (i.e., TimerTask). Has anyone else faced a similar issue ? private void updateMapOverlay() { this.itemizedOverlay.refreshItems(createOverlayItemsList()); List<Overlay> overlays = mapView.getOverlays(); overlays.clear(); overlays.add(cotItemizedOverlay); this.mapview.invalidate(); } Thanks. • Android -- autoLink

    - by Ryan
    Is there any way to Linkify a specific TextView that is contained within a ListView? I tried using android:autoLink="all" but that didn't work. I was getting an out of context error. Important also to note: the ListView is my second view in the ViewFlipper. I have also tried: View mItemView = mAdapter.getView(2, null, null); TextView infoText = (TextView) mItemView.findViewById(R.id.rowText2); Linkify.addLinks(infoText, Linkify.ALL); Right after the adapter was bound to the ListView and the View was switched. No luck. Here is the stack trace: 06-03 21:19:25.180: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1214): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 06-03 21:19:25.219: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1214): android.util.AndroidRuntimeException: Calling startActivity() from outside of an Activity context requires the FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK flag. • IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 during zoomOut in Google MapView

    - by Janusz
    I'm trying to zoom in on a Google MapView on step in the oncreateMethod of my Activity. Everytime I try to zoom the map via the mapController I get an IllegalArgumentException: 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.innomos.couponimo.android.client/com.innomos.couponimo.android.client.ui.showstores.StoreMap}: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 This Exception is thrown if I call the zoomOut or zoomIn function of MapController. Sadly the zoomIn function I'm using does not take any arguments. The onCreateMethod where I'm calling the zoom functions looks like this: mapView = (MapView) findViewById(R.id.map); mapView.setBuiltInZoomControls(true); MapController mapController = mapView.getController(); mapController.zoomIn(); I'm a little bit at loss here because I'm doing nothing special. The whole stacktrace is: 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.innomos.couponimo.android.client/com.innomos.couponimo.android.client.ui.showstores.StoreMap}: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2401) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2417) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2100(ActivityThread.java:116) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1794) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4203) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:791) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:549) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: width and height must be > 0 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.graphics.Bitmap.nativeCreate(Native Method) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.graphics.Bitmap.createBitmap(Bitmap.java:468) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.ZoomHelper.createSnapshot(ZoomHelper.java:305) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.ZoomHelper.doZoom(ZoomHelper.java:137) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.ZoomHelper.doZoom(ZoomHelper.java:126) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.MapView.doZoom(MapView.java:1459) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.MapView.doZoom(MapView.java:1468) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.google.android.maps.MapController.zoomIn(MapController.java:427) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at com.innomos.couponimo.android.client.ui.showstores.StoreMap.onCreate(StoreMap.java:58) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1123) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2364) 04-15 10:16:51.012: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(528): ... 11 more

  • CherryPy sessions for same domain, different port

    - by detly
    Consider the script below. It will launch two subprocesses, each one a CherryPy app (hit Ctrl+C or whatever the KeyboardInterrupt combo is on your system to end them both). If you run it with CP 3.0 (taking care to change the 3.0/3.1 specific lines in "StartServer"), then visit: http://localhost:15002/ ...you see an empty dict. Then visit: http://localhost:15002/set?val=10 http://localhost:15002/ ...and you see the newly populated dict. Then visit: http://localhost:15012/ ...and go back to http://localhost:15002/ ...and nothing has changed. If you try the same thing with CP 3.1 (remember the lines in "StartServer"!), when you get to the last step, the dict is now empty. This happens in Windows and Debian, Python 2.5 and 2.6. You can try all sorts of things: changing to file storage, separating the storage paths... the only difference it makes is that the sessions might get merged instead of erased. I've read another post about this as well, and there's a suggestion there to put the session tools config keys in the app config rather than the global config, but I don't think that's relevant to this usage where the apps run independently. What do I do to get independent CherryPy applications to NOT interfere with each other? Note: I originally asked this on the CherryPy mailing list but haven't had a response yet so I'm trying here. I hope that's okay. import os, os.path, socket, sys import subprocess import cgi import cherrypy HTTP_PORT = 15002 HTTP_HOST = "127.0.0.1" site1conf = { 'global' : { 'server.socket_host' : HTTP_HOST, 'server.socket_port' : HTTP_PORT, 'tools.sessions.on' : True, # 'tools.sessions.storage_type': 'file', # 'tools.sessions.storage_path': '1', # 'tools.sessions.storage_path': '.', 'tools.sessions.timeout' : 1440}} site2conf = { 'global' : { 'server.socket_host' : HTTP_HOST, 'server.socket_port' : HTTP_PORT + 10, 'tools.sessions.on' : True, # 'tools.sessions.storage_type': 'file', # 'tools.sessions.storage_path': '2', # 'tools.sessions.storage_path': '.', 'tools.sessions.timeout' : 1440}} class Home(object) : def __init__(self, key): self.key = key @cherrypy.expose def index(self): return """\ <html> <body>Session: <br>%s </body> </html> """ % cgi.escape(str(dict(cherrypy.session))) @cherrypy.expose def set(self, val): cherrypy.session[self.key.upper()] = val return """\ <html> <body>Set %s to %s</body> </html>""" % (cgi.escape(self.key), cgi.escape(val)) def StartServer(conf, key): cherrypy.config.update(conf) print 'Starting server (%s)' % key cherrypy.tree.mount(Home(key), '/', {}) # Start the web server. #### 3.0 # cherrypy.server.quickstart() # cherrypy.engine.start() #### #### 3.1 cherrypy.engine.start() cherrypy.engine.block() #### def Main(): # Start first webserver proc1 = subprocess.Popen( [sys.executable, os.path.abspath(__file__), "1"]) proc2 = subprocess.Popen( [sys.executable, os.path.abspath(__file__), "2"]) proc1.wait() proc2.wait() if __name__ == "__main__": print sys.argv if len(sys.argv) == 1: # Master process Main() elif(int(sys.argv[1]) == 1): StartServer(site1conf, 'magic') elif(int(sys.argv[1]) == 2): StartServer(site2conf, 'science') else: sys.exit(1)

  • Haars Cascade for Actionscript development

    - by Andre
    Hi guys, I have an object that I want to be able to recognize in AS3. There's a port of OpenCV for AS3 already, that works with Haars cascades, so now I need to create a cascade of my object. From what I've read, I'll have to create an XML of several images (positive and negative), but I can't find a program that'll do that for Mac OS X. Is there anything I can use that'll generate that XML on Mac OS X? Cheers, Andre

  • ClassCastException when casting custom View subclass

    - by Jens Jacob
    Hi I've run into an early problem with developing for android. I've made my own custom View (which works well). In the beginning i just added it to the layout programmatically, but i figured i could try putting it into the XML layout instead (for consistency). So what i got is this: main.xml: [...] <sailmeter.gui.CompassView android:id="@+id/compassview1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_below="@id/widget55" android:background="@color/white" /> [...] CompassView.java: public class CompassView extends View { } SailMeter.java (activity class): public class SailMeter extends Activity implements PropertyChangeListener { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); compassview = (CompassView) findViewById(R.id.compassview1); [...] } } (Theres obviously more, but you get the point) Now, this is the stacktrace: 05-23 16:32:01.991: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{sailmeter.gui/sailmeter.gui.SailMeter}: java.lang.ClassCastException: android.view.View 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2596) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2621) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2200(ActivityThread.java:126) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1932) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4595) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: android.view.View 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at sailmeter.gui.SailMeter.onCreate(SailMeter.java:51) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1047) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2544) 05-23 16:32:02.051: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10742): ... 11 more Why cant i cast my custom view?   • svn merge from trunk to branch conflict for a file deleted in the trunk

    - by Riccardo Galli
    After a subversion merge from trunk to branch, I got a conflict because a file has been deleted in the trunk and modified in the branch. I would like to keep the trunk choice, but using "svn resolve --accept theirs-full" from the branch directory tells me svn: warning: Tree conflicts can only be resolved to 'working' state; '/path/to/file' not resolved What should I do to have the file correctly deleted in the branch ?

  • iphone - double tap fail safe way

    - by mike
    I am trying to detect double taps on a view, but when the double tap comes, the first tap triggers an action on TouchesBegan, so, before detecting a double tap a single tap is always detected first. How can I make this in a way that just detects the double tap? I cannot use OS 3.x gestures, because I have to make it compatible with old OS versions. thanks

  • App starts in 1.5 emulator but doesn't in 1.6

    - by DixieFlatline
    My app works on 1.5 emulator and 1.5 device. When i try to start it on 1.6 emulator, it produces strange exceptions (doesn't even start). I don't have any 1.6 device to try this app if it works on a real device. I get some warnings in Eclipse ( warning: Ignoring InnerClasses attribute for an anonymous inner class that doesn't come with an associated EnclosingMethod attribute. This class was probably produced by a broken compiler.) and get cant rid of them (i think they come from some apache jars that i need to make http multipart posts). Is it possible that this jars are cause for my exceptions in 1.6 or is it something else? • Ksoap2 Error after Updating Android SDK and ADT

    - by user1291644
    I have a problem. When I updated Android SDK tool to version 17 and the ADT to 17 I can't use ksoap2 any more. I start the app and get this error: 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapObject 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.alcad.pernat.praksa.SplashScreen.pridobiDanasnjo(SplashScreen.java:124) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.alcad.pernat.praksa.SplashScreen.onCreate(SplashScreen.java:73) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1047) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2627) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2679) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2300(ActivityThread.java:125) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:2033) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4627) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:868) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:626) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) I should get String with some numbers but instead I get this error. I was using ksoap2-2.5.4.jar and tried the new ksoap2-android-assembly-2.6.2-jar-with-dependencies.jar. I'm using Eclipse indigo, Ubuntu 11.04. The code looks like this: SoapObject Request =new SoapObject(NAMESPACE,METHOD_NAME); // Here I get the error SoapSerializationEnvelope soapEnvelope=new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER11); soapEnvelope.dotNet=false; String tmp=odstejDatum(datum); Request.addProperty("datumod",tmp); Request.addProperty("datumdo",datum); Request.addProperty("tip_lme",1); @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") HttpTransportSE aht=new HttpTransportSE(URL,5000); soapEnvelope.setOutputSoapObject(Request); // aht.call(SOAP_ACTION_DANASNJI,soapEnvelope); Object response= soapEnvelope.getResponse(); Thanks for the help.
