• GLUT multiple Windows and OpenGL context

  I would like to use GLUT 3.7 Window Toolkit in a program written in php because i saw that there was a binding in php. I am interesting in having multiple windows ! In order to have a clean code, i was wondering to separate on the one hand the window toolkit and on the other hand the OpenGL implementation. I hope that i can program event with the glut callbacks in php then the application get the events and can interacts ! But i don't know how to draw in each window from php with opengl ? They say in the man page that each glut window has an opengl context. How to get each context ? Can i render offscreen with each context ?

• CRUD operations; do you notify whether the insert,update etc. went well ?

  Hi guys. I have a simple question for you (i hope) :) I have pretty much always used void as a "return" type when doing CRUD operations on data. Eg. Consider this code: public void Insert(IAuctionItem item) { if (item == null) { AuctionLogger.LogException(new ArgumentNullException("item is null")); } _dataStore.DataContext.AuctionItems.InsertOnSubmit((AuctionItem)item); _dataStore.DataContext.SubmitChanges(); } and then considen this code: public bool Insert(IAuctionItem item) { if (item == null) { AuctionLogger.LogException(new ArgumentNullException("item is null")); } _dataStore.DataContext.AuctionItems.InsertOnSubmit((AuctionItem)item); _dataStore.DataContext.SubmitChanges(); return true; } It actually just comes down to whether you should notify that something was inserted (and went well) or not ?

  today my problem is this i have 2 column and i wish check if the sum of that columns isn't Higher then a value(485 for example) and if is do a query...i though to do SELECT * FROM table WHERE ColumnA+ColumnB<485 But isn't working... i've already tried with SELECT Sum(ColumnA)+Sum(ColumnB) AS Total FROM table but it gives me 1 column with the sum of all rows, i instead want a row for every sum. so how can i do..? xD i hope you understood if not just ask that i try to explain it better! and thanks in advice for who want to help me! EDIT: I Found out XD the problem was that the columns was Smallint and the result of 1 or more rows was more than 32k so it wasn't working! Thanks At all!!

  Hi people, Is there a friendlier way to get an instance of FontMetrics than FontMetrics fm = Graphics.getFontMetrics(Font); I hate this way because of the following example: If you want to create in a game a menu and you want all the menuitems in the center of the screen you need fontmetrics. But, mostly, menuitems are clickable. So I create an array of Rectangles and all the rectangles fits around the items, so when the mouse is pressed, I can simply use for (int i = 0; i < rects.length; i++) if (rects[i].contains(mouseX, mouseY)) { ... } But to create the rects I also need FontMetrics for their coordinates. So this mean that I have to construct all my rectangles in the paint-method of my menu. So I want a way to get the FontMetrics so I can construct the Rectangles in a method called by the constructor.   Hi there guys! Hope your all enjoying your hollydays. Ive run into a pretty funny problem when trying to insert rows into a really really simple database table. The basic idea is pretty simple. The user selects one/multiple users in a multiselect which are supposed to be added to a group. This piece of code will insert a row into the user_group_relationships table, but the users id always @group = Group.find(params[:group_id]) params[:newMember][:users].each do |uid| # For debugging purposes. puts 'Uid:'+uid @rel = @group.user_group_relationships.build( :user_id => uid.to_i ) @rel.save end The user id always gets inserted as null even though it is clearly there. You can see the uid in this example is 5, so it should work. Uid:5 ... SQL (0.3ms) INSERT INTO "user_group_relationships" ("created_at", "group_id", "updated_at", "user_id") VALUES ('2010-12-27 14:03:24.331303', 2, '2010-12-27 14:03:24.331303', NULL) Any ideas why this fails?

  hi, right now, i code custom wordpress theme and testing it in xampp windows XP on apache server. But as long as i concern, there's no wp build-in function to identify the code environment. Is there's any PHP build-in function to identify such thing ? for the record, what i want to code need to read a directory. in my apache (in windows), the path will be c:/xampp/htdocs where apache on linux will be \somepath\somepath\ so, is there any code solution to know what is the OS environment without i have to compare the path ? i hope it will also work on other OS with other webserver then APACHE such as IIS

• Jquery Hover Flickering issue

  Hi, Hope u people will be fine. Here is my basic code: http://jsfiddle.net/kr9pY/7/ in this demo you can see when we hover on div with id="container", a div with class="nav" fades in. But the problem is that after doing this if i hover on div with class="nav" the div fades out and in again, and if i mover cursor slightly within .nav div, it repeats this behavior repeatedly. I don't want to this behaviour when we hover on .nav div or mover cursor within this div. Thank, and sorry for my bad english.

• conditional while loop in php?

  I'm pretty sure there's an obvious answer for this-- hoping someone can help me-- I need to do a PHP while loop, but only if a variable is true. And I can't really put the while loop in an "if" statement, which seems like the obvious thing to do, since the code block is huge and it would be ugly and confusing. Do I need to break out the code in the loop into a function, or is there an easier way to deal with this? Here's the basic idea: if(condition){ while(another_condition){ //huge block of code loops many times } } else { // huge block of code runs once } I want the huge block of code to execute regardless of the state of the condition variable-- but only to execute once if condition is false, and execute for as long as another_condition is true if condition is true. Hope that's clear! The following code doesn't work, but gives an idea of what I want to accomplish: if(condition){ while(another_condition){ } // huge block of code if (condition){ } } // closes the while loop-- obviously throws an error though! thanks in advance.

• Using a JSON web service from a Java client application

  I am developing a client-side Java application that has a bit of functionality that requires getting data from some web services that transmit in JSON (some RESTful, some not). No JavaScript, no web browser, just a plain JAR file that will run locally with Swing for the GUI. This is not a new or unique problem; surely there must be some open source libraries out there that will handle the JSON data transmission over HTTP. I've already found some that will parse JSON, but I'm having trouble finding any that will handle the HTTP communication to consume the JSON web service. So far I've found Apache Axis2 apparently which might have at least part of the solution, but I don't see enough documentation for it to know if it will do what I need, or how to use it. Maybe part of the problem is that I don't have experience with web services so I'm not able to know a solution when I see it. I hope some of you can point me in the right direction. Examples would be helpful.

So i'm thinking to buy a new notebook. For your experience, which type of processor i can buy ? I found, here in italy, acer notebook between 350-500 euros with t4400 and 2-3 gb ram. Is it enough to have a good "working experience" with vs (with good i intend not to wait 10-20 seconds when i switch from asp.net design to asp.net source code) ? Any answer is appreciated

My job and personal experience covers many project-specific Swing client frameworks as well as the Eclipse RCP, and every one of them had some original and clever concepts, but also drawbacks and rigid realizations. My plan is to incorporate the best of those concepts and features into a new framework whose core is very open and extendable. For my must-have-features list, I'm counting on your input and hope you can share some concept pearls & diamonds you've encountered in other frameworks, or features you always wanted to have or have in a better way. • Can review changes in Acrobat Reader (Pro, or not) be 'applied' to a PDF?

  Hi there, As part of an enhancement to my workplace processes, we're trying to streamline review of various documents. Yeah, there's way better alternatives to what I'm about to suggest, but the reality is that I have no time allocated to investigate things like DAV, repo setups and such. What I do have time allocated for is improving workflow around tools we already use. So I tried to work through the Adobe PDF collaborative review cycle. I have to say it was pretty amazing, from the notify toolbar icon to doc merging, to user access control. They offer it all, EXCEPT the ability to actually apply review changes to a PDF!?! To clarify, after sending a PDF through the collab review cycle (involving a bunch for external editors and internal staff) the end result was a PDF full of rich feedback - but I can see no way to finalised and apply those 'accepted' review points to the PDF in question. I hope this is clear enough, feel free to ask questions to clarify - perhaps I'm just missing something obvious, but perhaps applying changes to an already existing PDF is not possible? -d

I have an executable (PE) file that load a dll file as represented in the Import table... let say: PEFile.exe Modules.dll my question is how can i remove Modules.dll's import_descriptor from the imports and do its work by loadLibrary without the rely on the import table and without destroy the file???... My bigger problem his i could not understand exactly how the Import thing works... after the loader read the information he needs to do the import's thing, i believe he use the LoadLibrary, GetProcAddress APIs... but i couldn't understated what he doing with the pointers he get... he putting them somewhere in memory... and then what just call them?!? all the papers i found in the net explain the structure of the import table, but i didn't found a paper that explain how it is really work and get used... i hope you cold understand my Gibberish English...   Hello, I am looking for a way to get words out of a sentence. I am pretty far with the following expression: \b([a-zA-Z]+?)\b but there are some occurrences that it counts a word when I want it not to. E.g a word followed by more than one period like "text..". So, in my regex I want to have the period to be at the end of a word zero or one time. Inserting .? did not do the trick, and variations on this have not yielded anything fruitful either. Hope someone can help!

Notice that the first and second objects in the array are complete duplicates. Aside from the obvious solution of switching to PostgresSQL, what MongoDB query can I run to remove duplicate entries from foo_list? Similar answers that do not quite cut it: http://stackoverflow.com/a/16907596/432 http://stackoverflow.com/a/18804460/432 These questions answer the question if the array had bare strings in it. However in my situation the array is filled with objects. I hope it is clear that I am not interested in a query; I want the duplicates to be gone from the database forever.

  Hi, I started a new project and created a local git repo with "git init" and now I have a few branches and everything works great.   I've missed the memo somewhere, and I hope you'll explain this to me. Why is the eigenclass of an object different from self.class? class Foo def initialize(symbol) eigenclass = class << self self end eigenclass.class_eval do attr_accessor symbol end end end My train of logic that equates the eigenclass with class.self is rather simple: class << self is a way of declaring class methods, rather than instance methods. It's a shortcut to def Foo.bar. So within the reference to the class object, returning self should be identical to self.class. This is because class << self would set self to Foo.class for definition of class methods/attributes. Am I just confused? Or, is this a sneaky trick of Ruby meta-programming?
