• How can I create a shortcut to uninstall MyApplication using the Visual Studio Installer?

  I have created an installer for MyApplication using the Visual Studio Installer (VSI) Setup Project. I would like to create a shortcut in the user's Start Menu to uninstall MyApplication (instead of having to go through the Add/Remove Programs control panel). I cannot simply create a batch/script file to run the command "msiexec /uninstall {MyGUID}" because, although it does succeed in running the uninstaller, when the uninstall completes the program folder (wherever the user has chosen to install the app) does not get deleted. It stays empty. How can I create a shortcut that can uninstall the program but not leave behind an empty program folder?

  I'm experiencing the problem outlined in this kb article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927917 . Sorry I can't hyperlink cos i don't have enough points! "This problem occurs because a child container HTML element contains script that tries to modify the parent container element of the child container. The script tries to modify the parent container element by using either the innerHTML method or the appendChild method." The problem I'm having diagnosing the source of my problem is 2 fold: 1) This is only happening on some client machines (All are running IE8) and not others. How/Why only some? 2) I don't have any scripts which modify the innerHTML or call appendChild on any dom elements. I do have server side code which modify properties on asp .net server controls. (Essentially all thats happening is a panel control with some more controls is being made visbile or invisible on a button click), would these in turn then set the innerHTML property of the client rendered control(?)

  Hi, I have deployed my application on subdomain.domain.com (it works only on that one subdomain). Everything works fine except the fact that from time to time users cannot log in to application (the message "Looks like your browser isn't configured to accept cookies. Please enable cookies, reload this page, and try again" is shown when trying to log into admin panel). I've noticed that restarting the web server eliminates this problem for some time. Does anyone have experience with setting up django project on subdomain and can guide me how to configure my application to make it work correctly without need to ocasionally make reset?

• Code igniter authentication code in controller security question

  I have a main controller to handle the very front-end of my authentication system, it handles login, logout, update user info, etc. functions that I anticipate calling by POST'ing from views/forms. What about something like a "delete_user" function though? My thoughts are a button in someones admin panel would say "Delete Account" and it would post to "/auth/delete", and the function would delete the user based on their session username or id. This seems a bit open ended, you could send out a link to someone and when they opened it while in that application it would delete their account.. Whats the best way to handle this?

• How do I layout a form in WPF using grid or other controls for maintainability

  I have a WPF form, I want to lay out a standard form onto it. Each form element will have a label, and then a control. Pretty standard stuff. If I use a wrap panel, it can cause the label and the control to be separated, but I want them to stay together. is there some WPF equivalent of nobr? Grid works, and allows for column spanning etc, however I really really hate that you specify the column and row on each control. This makes it extremely inconvenient to reorder or insert things into the list. Is there a way to get the grid to use more HTML style column/rows where the items are a child of the row they are in, so that I can re-order easily? Is there some other control that will let me layout a form easily?

I have deployed the application in the server.I am using windows service 2003 as the server.I am able to read the excel file only if i set the set the security settings to "network service" for the microsoft excel application in the control panel -- administrative tools -- componetn service -- computer -- My computer -- DCOM config -- microsoft excel application . Why is it so . There are also other applications running in the server. 1) Doing like this will create any issue ? 2) Why do we need to do it ? 3) Is there any alternative way to do it ? 4) What are we doing actually by providing network service access ?   Hi everyone , I'm racking my brain in order to solve a knotty problem (at least for me) While playing an audio file (using java) I want the signal amplitude to be displayed against time. I mean I'd like to implement a small panel showing a sort of oscilloscope .(SPECTRUM ANALYZER) The audio signal should be viewed in the time domain (vertical axis is amplitude and the horizontal axis is time) Does anyone know how to do it? Is there a good tutorial I can rely on? Since I know vwry little about java , I wish someone could help me . Thanks in advance.

  I have a webcam that I want to do some image processing on using Python. It's coming through as a Motion-JPEG. I want to try to process the stuff "live," but really what I want to do is this: Open the URL, start data streaming to some buffer... Read x bytes (where x is image size) to an image Process that image Display in result panel Return to number 2 The problem is that, while I do have the resolution, I have no idea how many bytes to read. I've tried googling the M-JPEG specification but can't find anything on if the images are separated by some header or what. Anybody have any ideas?

• CheckBox gets converted to Button in Flex

  Hi, I am new to Flex, so please bear with me. I have encountered a strange problem. There's a ActionScript class which dynamically creates basic UI element. So I create RadioButton as var rBtn:RadioButton = new RadioButton(); and then put it in a Panel Container. The problem is that it appears to be a Button. However it behaves like RadioButton. I have found this problem with one more guy who has posted it here. CheckBoxes and RadioButton looks like Push Buttons. Please help me out with this. Thanks.

• getting the Contact's Birthday of a HTC Sense phone

  I am not sure, but probably HTC Sense does the following, syncs my Facebook contacts to my phone along with their mobile number and their birthday. This shows well in the agenda and the user panel. But as it turns out it doesn't use the standard SDK way to store the birthdays. • XAMPP mail not working with PHP mail() function.

  Hi gusy, I just installed XAMPP, Apache is running, so is MySQL and Mercury. In Dreamweaver I created a php file with a mail($to,$subject,$msg,'From:'.$email); function, but when I ran the file from localhost it showed an error. After playing around with xampp control panel, turning mercury on and off, it's not showing any errors, yet is not send the email either... any ideas? the 'admin' button on the cp for mercury does nothing. • How do I use global resources in WPF?

  I have a WPF application which I would like to use some static resources in. I have created a Resource Library XAML file which contains a resource. I have also added a string into the Resources of the project through the Properties panel. I assumed I could just use these resources with the binding expression: {StaticResource ResourceName} But visual studio is telling me the resources are not found. Do I have to include some form of reference in my XAML? The examples I have seen only include resources locally such as: <Window.Resources>, <Page.Resources> etc I don't want to include the resources locally because I want them to be available to multiple parts of the application.

  I have several custom controls (some kind of frames for content and layout management, like wrap panel), and would like to write unit tests for them. It's hard to find any good examples except Silverlight control toolkit, which has some helper classes to do unit tests and it's quite complicated. For MVVM classes it's easy to write tests because they don't use SL dependency system and infrastructure. Questions: how to unit test DepedenyProperty, what do I need to test how to test attached property do I test bindings with theme or UserControl, like simple textblock content binding, or command/event binding in MVVM with UserControl what else do I test in my custom controls, beside my business logic any good tutorial to achieve tests like those in control toolkit How do I start? Is SL controls toolkit only option for learning? For testing framework i'm using one from control toolkit, and for continuus integration on TFS build server I planned to use Statlight (from codeplex). Any advice on that?

However.. when I run an app on Eclipse, it still insists on opening it up in an emulator rather than my phone. How can I fix that?

I have done this and my computer now says that IIS is running. However when I visit http://localhost in my browser I get a 'Page Cannot be Displayed' error.   I get the same culture i.e. "en-US" while running the website from both IIS and Visual Studio's web server. If I change the date format there in "Regional and Language Options", I see no effect in my application.

• jquery - lose click() event after ajax call???

  At the following webpage liamharding.com/pgi.php I have an option panel on the left side of the page which opens and closes upon clicking the panels 'arrow', this works fine until you select a market (for testing use one of the 'Random Walk' markets and click 'Show/Refesh Graphs'), this then makes an ajax call using get_graph(forexName, myCount, divIsNew) function. Once this call is completed a graph(s) is displayed and then my options panels click() event does not work? The ajax call returns the data in a variable ajax_data, the problem happens when I perform the following code var jq_ajax_data = $("<div/>").html(ajax_data); . I need to wrap it in a so I can extract data from it using jQuery. If this line of code is commented out the click() event works fine ?? Hope somebody can help, I have spent a lot of time but cant find what the problem is.

• CUDA driver installation on a laptop with nVidia NVS140M card

  I'm trying to first figure out if my computer contains a CUDA-enabled card. It has an nVidia NVS 140M card, but I can't seem to figure out if it is the 128 MB version or 256 MB version. On the laptop purchase receipt, I found out that I ordered the 128 MB version, but the control panel description of the card said otherwise as shown below: When I ran the CUDA driver from nVidia's site, it cannot find a hardware compatible with CUDA (even though the product series is CUDA-enabled, the card does not have 256 MB minimum of memory to do so). What would be your recommendations in this case with trying to use CUDA on this computer (I'm not sure if nothing can be done at this point)? Thanks in advance.

  hi! in my website when session gets timed out nd after that we click on any button or perform action it gives random error as input string not in correct format.. how do i resolve problem?? i've 500 pages in whole website...and 20 master pages...so can't check for session on each page... i wrote code in global.asax application_error method...tht if error occur and session is null than redirect to default page..it worked....but when page is in frame..it does not refresh the whole pahe..only frame redirects the page...so the panel of master page remains same..

• Netbeans GUI editor problems

  Hey guys. Im making a portion of my app using the netbeans gui editor. Great so far. However ive added a new checkbox - and when i load the panel in my app the text attribute isnt shown...its just blank as if i have no caption on it... all the other ones display - so this is very annoying. It kind of seems that I have hit the limit on gui items or something, becasue any new items I add I cannot seem then, If i add new labels they dont show either :S! The other problems Im having are that the size of the window im editting appears to be fixed - every time i change it, it jumps back to the same size - how do i stop this from happening? Cheers Andy

  Does anybody know how I can get multiple instances of the same grid to display on one frame? Whenever I create more than 1 instance of the same object, the display of the original grid widget completely collapses and I'm left unable to do anything with it. • How to keep the popup menu of a JComboBox open on populating it ?

  I have a JComboBox on my Panel. One of the popup menu items is 'More' and when I click that I fetch more menu items and add them to the existing list. After this, I wish to keep the popup menu open so that the user realizes that more items have been fetched however, the popup closes.
