  I set up a test in Google Website Optimizer that has a 3 variations - original (A), B, and C. In order to further validate the results of the test, I added a variation C that is exactly the same as the original. And thats where the results get weird. 6 days into the test, the best performing variation is C. It outperforms the original by 18.4%! How is that possible? Do I now discount the results of this test entirely?

• On-line Based Conferencing For Admin Panel

  Working on my admin panels work station section which will allow the admin to use simple office tools such as word editors, calculators and whatnot. Under this section of the admin panel, I would like to add a conferencing feature which will allow any administrator to connect with another administrator 1-2-1 under the 1-2-1 Conferencing section, or to join a meeting under 'live meeting' section. Upon my search for on-line based, I found there are all these, what seem to be great applications out there, however not all of them are on-line based, and come with a price! I would like to a purely on-line based conferencing/meeting/1-2-1 feature which will allow administrators to communicate via text or sound, stream their video, share their screen and sending of files. I know this sounds like a big feature, and I am not asking for someone to answer by programming one for my website!   I have a static mockup page, which I want to "customize" by switching a variable used in image-src and link-href attributes. Paths will look like this: <img src="/some/where/VARIABLE/img/1.jpg" alt="" /> <link rel="some" href="/some/where/VARIABLE/stuff/foo.bar" /> I'm setting a cookie with the VARIABLE value on the preceding page and now want to modfiy the paths accordingly by replacing VARIABLE with the cookie value. I'm a htaccess newbie. • Redirecting 2 or more domains to same hosting server

  I have domains A.com, A.co.in and A.in Purchased from site X. I have a hosting space/account purchased from site Y, which has provided me with 2 DNS entries that is to be replaced in the account at the site from where I purchase the domains. I have successfully changed the DNS entries of A.com to these 2 DNS entries and I am able to see my index.html page when I hit A.com. Problem On similar lines, I have changed the DNS entries to the same entries for A.co.in and A.in, but on hitting those sites in browser gives me no response and browser specific page of 'Site not found' is been seen. Please let me know, how to set this, so that when I hit any of the domain, the web-site is rendered from the hosting server? What am I doing wrong here? Note It has been more than 3 days after changing the DNS entries, so I don't think so this is a problem of DNS propagation, which I heard from some people. Please provide some detail explanation, as I am very very new to this. This is my first hosting ;) -Thanks

  Does anyone know if its possible in any ways to do this? Transfer a private domain (via domainsbyproxy) registered at godaddy to another registrar. While I know moving a domain from godaddy requires the privacy to be disabled, what we were thinking of doing is the following: a) Update the whois info inside domains by proxy to a 3rd party. Most likely a law firm who would in essnece become our 'custodian'. b) Wait 60 days (?) c) Disable domain privacy. Now the law firms details would become public. d) Conduct the domain transfer. e) Take ownership of the domain at the new registrar. Does something like this sound possible? Does anyone know any other way to handle this? Thanks.

  I'm really new to this SEO world and I've been reading a lot to try and figure it out. We have a site moodbond.com that allows users to browse/create events anywhere. And we fill it with content from the main cities in the US. We would like it to show for searches for things like "events in san francisco" or "what to do in new york", however, since the site is not really location-specific, I'm not really sure where to begin. I've been thinking a couple of things, maybe you can help me decide if these would be a good way to start or if I should try something different. 1- Allow something like location-specific urls (e.g. moodbond.com/browse/san-francisco) could just show the main page centered in San Francisco. 2- Change the headers/title of the page so it adapts automatically to the city being browsed (and change this dynamically as the user changes the location of the map). 3- Add internal links to different locations (e.g. add a link at the footer of the page that says "Events in Seattle" that makes the site load events in that city. (this would probably depend on implementing #1). What do you guys think? will any of these really help or should I look for a different approach? any advice is welcome. Thanks

Also do sub-domains have a different PR? 3) When entering a hugely over saturated niche such as web-design, is it even possible to compete with the big sites that have been ranked on google #1 page for years? 4) Lastly, I have read about how important titles, link anchors, and headings are for SEO and how content is the most important. So left's say we are building a standard header, body, sidebar, footer page. In the the actual markup, would it be better to make sure the main content comes before the sidebar on the page or does this probably not make a difference? 5) I seen mentioned in another answer here that microformats can help with SEO, is there any fact behind this?   I'm using GoDdady for site hosting, and I'm currently using MySQL, because there are less limits on size,etc. My question is what is the difference between using a hosted GoDaddy Db such as MySQL vs. creating a SQL Server database in the the App_Data folder? My guess is security? Would it be a bad idea to use a SQL ServerDB that's located in the App_Data folder? Additional Well I am able to create a .mdf (SQL Server DB file) in the App_Data folder, but I'm really unsure if should use that or not, If I did use it it would simplify using some of the Microsoft tools. Like I said my guess is that it would be less secure, but I don't really know. I know I have a 10gb, file system limit, so I'm assuming my db would have to share that space.

• For an inexperienced VPS administrator, is Nginx a suitable alternative to Apache?

  I couldn't think of the best way to set the title, so if somebody wants to edit it to something more appropriate, I'd be grateful ;) I'm what I would consider to be an inexperienced user/ administrator when it comes to running my VPS. I can get by with a few CLI commands, I can set up Webmin and I can set up Yum repos, but beyond the very basic stuff, I'm out of my depth. So far, I'm running Apache. I don't know it particularly well, but I can get by with editing httpd.conf if I'm told what to edit. I've heard good things about Nginx and that it's not as resource-hungry as Apache. I'd like to give it a go, but I can't find any information about its suitability for administrators like me, with little experience of sysadmin or web server config. Webmin now has support for Nginx, so getting it installed and running probably won't be too much of a problem. What I'm wondering is, from a site adminstrator perspective, is running Nginx as transparent as running Apache? IE, at the moment, I can just throw up Wordpress and Drupal sites without having much to worry about or having to make any config changes to Apache. Would Nginx be as transparent?

What is my best option to leverage those names so that they appear near top of searches so that I can get traffic to my money site? Do I just have them redirect 301 to inkywink.com or should I create small original content on each with links to my main site? 2. If I just have them redirected to inkywink.com, am I able to use keywords in metatag and headers for each site separately or do they all automatically obtain the same headers and tags as the site to which theyre redirected ? If anybody is creating a site for small company (expecting some 10-15 static pages), what kinda things would it need to have?
