    I want to install and use the famed LargeFile plugin to help make opening large files quicker and easier. I've installed other plugins for gVim successfully, by simply placing the '.vim' file in the /plugins folder. But this plugin is a little different, in that it comes as a gzipped '.vba' file. After I unzip it, what do I do next? As I understand it, the same author created vimballPlugin.vim, which is supposed to execute it?

My registed domain is: anunta-anunturi.ro I searched for a tutorial and I've read that I have to configure /etc/named.conf and the file sources for the new zone that I create.   • Lightning strike causes fast download?

    Ok, REALLY strange question. My friend says he was downloading a 14 GB file at about 1 mb/s when suddenly there was a lightning strike outside and momentarily the download speed jumped to 10,000,000 GB/s. The file finnished downloading. He even has the screenshot to prove it. I also trust him and don't believe that he would be lying. So my question is: how is this even possible?? Is there just the possibility that the file was about to finish downloading anyway and the lightning strike coincided with a freak download speed calculation error?

  • VGA cable causing resolution issue

    I recently bought a new VGA cable. When connected, Windows 7 detects my monitor as a generic plug and play monitor. The resolution goes bad with the screen blurred. This problem disappears when I connect my original VGA cable. Also Windows 7 detects my LG monitor correctly in this case. I am pretty sure it is something to do with the VGA cable but have no idea what could be the possible issue. Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

  • Pidgin to pidgin, what protocol to chose?

    Hi I and a friend need to start to use some instant messaging and it seem like pidgin is a nice program to use. However it supports quite a lot of different protocols. So my question is witch to choose? Since both parties can use the same program we don't have to use the same protocol as "all the rest", but can focus on what is best to use. I deleted the existing partition on the laptop and wanted to created a new one were to install the OS but cant because everything in the partition tab for the drive is grayed out. Basically, I can't do anything until I unlock the partition So the question is: how to unlock a partition from disk utility or the command line.

  • pfSense 2.1 OpenVPN client not using tunnelled interface

    I'm having some trouble getting OpenVPN working on my pfSense box. The issue is quite strange to me. When I have the OpenVPN turned on, only my router is able to connect to the Internet. From the router I can use ping, links, etc., and connections work exactly as expected - through the VPN, with the IP address assigned by my VPN provider (Proxy.sh, incidentally). However, none of the clients on the local network can connect to the Internet. I get timeouts when using ping or a web browser. I can ping my router, and the IP address of the gateway. When I switch the default gateway from the VPN to my ISP's gateway, all works exactly as expected. Also figuring it could possibly be some client networking issue, I restarted the clients on the LAN. This did not help. I also ran route flush and reset the routes manually. So I am a bit stumped, and would be very grateful for any thoughts on what the problem might be.

  • How do I usb tether my Cyanogen modded G1's internet connection to my Toshiba Tecra 8000 running Xub

    I have usb-tethering enabled in my phone. It works fine with Vista. When I plug my phone into my Tecra 8000 laptop running Xubuntu, dmesg shows: "usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 8". I see that the OS has detected it as a storage device, but I can't get it to function correctly as a network device. /dev/us* shows no usb0, but it does show /dev/usbdev1.1_ep00 /dev/usbdev1.1_ep81 /dev/usbdev1.8_ep00 ... usbdev1.8_ep83. I could just use the wireless tether app for android, but I can't get my Netgear wg511 v2 (made in China) wireless card to work in this laptop either. But that's another post for later.

    Specifically, I am looking to rate-limit an scp or sftp session (or other arbitrary network call) in the call itself. For example, let's say I want to copy 100MB to one server, and 1GB to another. I'd like to be able to run both of these at the same time, but maintain a QoS for "normal" computer usage - somewhat similar to how you can rate-limit bittorrent. Is there a way to do this without touching the networking hardware? I'm envisioning something akin to: magic-qos-tool 'scp file user@host:/path/to/file' Or.. scp -rate 40kbps file user@host:/path/to/file

  • How to bypass firewall to connect to a proxy server?

    I am conducting a small experiment on my office network. I have setup a proxy server on my desktop machine (connected to my LAN) and I have volunteers access the internet via my proxy server. Everything is working well. The problem is people cannot connect to the proxy server through their laptops. I asked my network admin and he said the wireless network has a firewall which prevents users from connecting to my proxy. He said I could tunnel the traffic or use SSH though. I am afraid I do not understand fully what is going on. Is there a way by which users connected on the wireless network can connect to my desktop? I am using FreeProxy on Windows as my proxy server: http://www.handcraftedsoftware.org/index.php?page=download FreeProxy allows me to create a SOCKS 4/4a/5 proxy. Is that what I need? Part of the experiment involves logging the URL requests of the users. I am doing a measurement study. So, any solution must allow me to log the URL requests of users. Also, what changes do I need to make in the browser configuration.

  • Realtek audio AC 97 5.1 on Windows 7: Terrible subwoofer quality

    I have a media center PC with on-board Realtek AC97 Audio. I have been using Windows XP for a couple of years with great audio quality. I just upgraded this PC with Windows 7 and installed the latest Realtek drivers from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ At the testing screen, all the speakers works correctly (including subwoofer). Despite that, while playing any movie or music, the subwoofer quality is terrible. From it it just comes noises, in the correct rhythm but quite low and quite out of tone. I compensated the loudness by putting the other speakers lower but the sound of the subwoofer is really terrible. Is there anyone facing the same problem? Does anyone have a workaround for that? PS.: I had gone past the steps given in Terrible noises from subwoofer of ACER Aspire 6930 with Realtek sound chip but still I have a bad quality of sound.   • Using ethernet cables?

    I have an HDTV which supports internet connectivity through an ethernet port or wirelessly (but this requires an additional wireless USB adapter, which I don't have). I also have a blue ray player than supports internet connectivity through an ethernet port or wirelessly (natively - no other devices are needed). I want to connect my TV to the internet but my router is too far away. My blueray player however is already connected wirelessly. If I connected my TV to my Blueray player via ethernet, would my TV be able to connect to the internet? To clarify: Wireless Signal - Blue Ray Player - Ethernet Cable - TV Would this work?
