  • Fresh Ubuntu Install - Grub not loading

First of all, I'll explain how I got to my predicament. I finally got my new SSD. I firstly installed Windows, which completed without a hitch. Afterwards, I tried to install Ubuntu, which failed several times due to problems irrelevant to this question, but I mention this to explain my frustrations, sorry. Anyway, I finally installed Ubuntu. However, I chose the 'bootloader' to be installed on the same partition as where I was installing the Ubuntu Root partition, as that was what I believed to be the best choice. It was of my thinking that it was supposed to go on the same partition and on the SSD, which is my OS drive, though with my problem, it apparently was wrong. So I tried to fix it by checking guides and following their directions, but seemed to have messed it up even more.   • Existing open source software for wireless mesh networking?

    Hello! My goal: Build a wireless mesh network with some ALIX 2D2 (500 MHz AMD Geode LX800 x86 CPU, 256MB RAM, Atheros wireless card) Aside from working like a normal wireless mesh network users should be able to read/write data from/to the ALIX Boxes and the ALIX boxes should be able to process data. Questions: Should I try to flash dd-wrt x86, voyage linux (linux.voyage.hk) or something else? What (open source) software should I look into before I start? Should I use a 'server' for data storage and processing instead of the ALIX boxes? Is it even possible to use the ALIX boxes for routing AND data storage and processing? Final notes: Data can be anything, for example, I want to setup a wireless mesh using the OLSRD protocol so my whole town gets wifi and can access songs on the network. It's not for that, but that's the idea. I'm not afraid of programing, compiling or working with *nix. This is mostly 'for fun' rather than for practicality. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

In short, the Windows Security dialog has no place to put credentials, rendering pretty much useless. This happens to apply for a whole bunch of our intranet websites, and only a select number of users with a few laptops have this problem. It ends up looking like this. Things I have tried so far: Disabling local Group Policy (not domain connected) Disabling local Security Policy Resetting IE settings A few system restores Re-registering a bunch of IE DLL's and all other steps here Reinstalling IE8 (dism /online /disable-feature /featurename:"internet-explorer-optional-x86, reboot, dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:"internet-explorer-optional-x86, and reboot) And SFC scan, which found nothing Still, nothing. Not only am I fed up, but I have begun to really work with APIExplorer and Procmon as mentioned in the Technet original because I want to know WHAT is happening, not just fix it. Any thoughts?

    I'm following this tutorial to set up a personal Git server on Apache on my Windows 7 box. However, when I add the following to my httpd.conf, Apache throws an error when I try to start it. Can anyone assist in fixing whatever is wrong?   • Looking for updated BIOS for '99 Gateway in order to format/recognize >127 GB HD

    I have a '99 Gateway that's apparently too old for even Gateway to acknowledge it exists. Want to use it as a media hub and put in a 320GB HD, but it will not format above 127GB even running Win XP SP3. Read somewhere that upgrading the BIOS may do the trick, but I can't find the correct BIOS, and GW has been no help. Hoping I can just upgrade the BIOS, which is 11 years old. Any help would be much appreciated! I don't know where to look, and searches have been fruitless.
