• Using GWT to output XML, JSON and regular HTML

  Sorry, this is a very basic question, as we are just getting started with exploring GWT. We would like to know if it's easy and possible to get GWT to "output" XML, JSON and regular HTML. I would like to know this because ideally we would port parts of our backends over slowly, and it would be nice to drop in GWT in place of AJAX wherever we need it during the transition period. Places that we would like to be able to use: 1) We have a pure XML page that we return to our client (mobile) app and right now this is handled through Spring MVC with a nice template. What's the best replacement for this? 2) We have a regular AJAX page that makes async requests and expects replies in JSON. Can we easily replace this backend? 3) We have some regular webpages where we use templates to output them, and we would like to first switch them over in the simplest possible way, without converting them to the regular GWT UI framework.   I have two entities A and B. They are related with many to many relation. Entity A can be related up to 100 B entities. Entity B can be related up to 10000 A entities. I need quick way to select for example 30 A entities, that have relation with specified B entities, filtered and sorted by different attributes. Here how I see ideal solution: I put all information I know about A entities, including their relations with B entities into single row (Special table with SET field) then add all necessary indexes. The problem is that you can't use index while querying by SET field. What should I do? I can replace database with something different, if that'll help.

  I need a generalized method to get list of runtime parameters (values) when I call a procedure. I need something similar to the $$PLSQL_UNIT that returns the name of the running procedure. Have a command with an arbitrary number of parameters, need to build ?,?,? • Why can't I save CSS changes in FireBug?

  FireBug is the most convenient tool I've found for editing CSS - so why isn't there a simple "Save" option? I am always finding myself making tweaks in FireBug, then going back to my original .css file and replicating the tweaks. Has anyone come up with a better solution? EDIT: I'm aware the code is stored on a server (in most cases not my own), but I use it when building my own websites. Firebug's just using the .css file FireFox downloaded from the server, it knows precisely what lines in which files its editing, I can't see why there's not an "Export" or "Save" option which allows you to store the new .css file. (Which I could then replace the remote one with). I have tried looking in temporary locations, and choosing file-save and experimenting with the output options on FireFox, but I still haven't found a way. Here's hoping someone has a nice solution... EDIT 2: The Official Group has a lot of questions, but no answers.

• automatic push to CDN deployment strategy

  Does anyone have ideas for a strategy to push content to a CDN upon deployment? The key issue I'm facing is that we have a site that is available in various contexts: local development, development server, staging, then finally live. The liver version of the site needs to load assets from a domain, which will be pointed to a CDN: assets.domain.com. However, we will have numerous references to the assets pointing to a relative folder, e.g. /images/ in css, possibly in js, and in HTML & source. Our new site will use capistrano for deployment and it may be that we can hook in another build tool (apache ant?) or some custom script to search / replace paths. I am wondering if anyone has had to deal with this issue before and what solutions you put in place to automate managing the CDN in terms of pushing content up to the CDN and managing html & css references to assets in the CDN. • Concatenating NSString inside of UITextView

  I'm some trouble adding strings together for a UITextView in my app. The method I've been using is this (header) #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface calculatorViewController : UIViewController { IBOutlet UITextView *output; } -(IBAction)b1; @property(nonatomic, copy) NSString *output; @end (main) #import "calculatorViewController.h" @implementation calculatorViewController -(void)b1 { [output stringByAppendingString:@"hi"]; } The problem I've been having with this method is when I use the button the app crashes. The warning it gives me is 'UITextView' may not respond to '-stringByAppendingString:' When I replace output with at string it works though and that confused me. Any suggestions?   We have a site which is accessed entirely over HTTPS, but sometimes display external content which is HTTP (images from RSS feeds, mainly). The vast majority of our users are also stuck on IE6. I would both of the following Prevent the IE warning message about insecure content Present something useful to users in place of the images that they can't otherwise see; if there was some JS I could run to figure out which images haven't been loaded and replace them with an image of ours instead that would be great. I suspect that the first aim is simply not possible, but the second may be sufficient. A worst case scenario is that I parse the RSS feeds when we import them, grab the images store them locally so that the users can access them that way, but it seems like a lot of pain for reasonably little gain.

  I'm trying to view the text of HTML files in a reasonable way. After I remove all of the markup and retain only the visible text, I obtain a String that looks something like this: \n\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n \n Title here \n\n\n \n\n \n\n Menu Item 1 \n\n \n\n Menu Item 2 \n\n\n \n\n you get the point. I would like to use String.replaceAll(String regex, String regex) to replace any whitespace substring that contains more than two occurances of \n with "\n\n". Any ideas?

  I am using an AXObserver to monitor when a window is closed. In the callback, I am just raising an NSNotification. All working well. What is the correct syntax for attaching some user data as refcon? The working call looks like this: err6 = AXObserverAddNotification(observerTable, tableRef, kAXUIElementDestroyedNotification, nil); and the callback specified when I create the observer has the signature: static void cbTableClosed (AXObserverRef observer, AXUIElementRef element, CFStringRef notification, void *refcon) I want to replace refcon with an object of my own, but don't know how to change either line. The obvious objective-c type changes through up warnings.

  Hi, I have to develop a program at work in which a consultant can enter a specification which is developed 2 years ago here in house. So i can't really tell what it is about. But the editor should support some standard functionality such as syntax highlighting, auto completion and maybe search & replace. I've searched for Java components but didn't find a good solution which matches my requirements. Anybody knows a good component? It doesn't matter in which language it is written but I prefer Java.

  Hi all: I'm getting exceptions when copying content type from one web to another: foreach (SPContentType destinationWebCt in destinationWeb.ContentTypes) { destinationWeb.ContentTypes.Add(existingWebCt); destinationWeb.Update(); } existingWebCt is the content type from another web e.g. /Site/Web. destinationWeb is the web that I wish to copy the content type to e.g. /Site/DestinationWeb. I got the SPException that says something like content type can not be added outside of its scope. Then I decided to replace all "ContentTypes" to "AvailableContentTypes", but then I got the SPException saying this collcetion could not be modified. So how can I copy a content type to another web? Pretty much, I have 8 sound files laid out in an array.xml file and I need to play a randomly chosen file ONCE per or onClick or onShake. First off, what technique should I use to achieve this? • Noob Droid Question regarding random number

  Brand new to droid programming, but would love to learn as much as possible, so I finally got my emulator working correctly, I even got a hello world button to work, I'm attempting to make this button display a random number, I've googled this and came up with this code: Random generator = new Random(); int n = generator.nextInt(n); I fixed the Random function by including some Random java utility. I'm assuming this code above goes in the .java file of the project, so my button code looks as follows (tested and works): PopUpText.makeText(v.getContext(), "Hello World", PopUpText.LENGTH_LONG).show(); I figured I could replace "Hello World" with n to display the number in the box, however the following error is stopping the compile: The local variable n may not have been initialized Any ideas why this is happening? Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

It works fine, But when i run it, it always shows the message from Microsoft Excel: A file named ''' already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it?   As you would expect from a DSL aimed at data analysts, R handles missing/incomplete data very well, for instance: Many R functions have an 'na.rm' flag that you can set to 'T' to remove the NAs, but if you want to deal with this before the function call, then: to replace each 'NA' w/ 0: ifelse(is.na(vx), 0, vx) to remove each 'NA': vx = vx[!is.na(a)] to remove entire each row that contains 'NA' from a data frame: dfx = dfx[complete.cases(dfx),] All of these functions remove 'NA' or rows with an 'NA' in them. Sometimes this isn't quite what you want though--making an 'NA'-excised copy of the data frame might be necessary for the next step in the workflow but in subsequent steps you often want those rows back (e.g., to calculate a column-wise statistic for a column that has missing rows caused by a prior call to 'complete cases' yet that column has no 'NA' values in it). to be as clear as possible about what i'm looking for: python/numpy has a class, 'masked array', with a 'mask' method, which lets you conceal--but not remove--NAs during a function call. Is there an analogous function in R?
