  Hello, I am trying to replace a variable stored in another file using regular expression. The code I have tried is: r = re.compile(r"self\.uid\s*=\s*('\w{12})'") for line in fileinput.input(['file.py'], inplace=True): print line.replace(r.match(line), sys.argv[1]), The format of the variable in the file is: self.uid = '027FC8EBC2D1' I am trying to pass in a parameter in this format and use regular expression to verify that the sys.argv[1] is correct format and to find the variable stored in this file and replace it with the new variable. • Problem creating gui from xml -> Strange CPButton behaviour

  Hallo, I'm new to objective-j and cappuccino and just have tried to create a small application, that creates the gui dynamically from a xml file. Unfortunately it works only partially. It seems that the button regions are disorder. This means, that the buttons also response if I click besides the button.... Please help me.   Although I'm coding in Objective C, this is more of a general programming question. What is the best way to convert a constantly changing scalar value to a changing interval or frequency? Right now every time the scalar value changes I am destroying the NSInterval ie [self.myTimer invalidate]; self.myTimer = nil; and creating a new one, but this seems like a VERY expensive way to achieve my goal, since the changing scalar value in my case represents the horizontal velocity of a swipe. For a rough analogy, think of the speed of a swipe being reflected in a visual metronome, the faster you swipe, the higher(shorter interval) the frequency of the metronome.

  Hi, I have a system for the users to be able to post comments. The comments are grasped into a textarea. My problem is to format the comments with br tag to replace \n In fact, i could do something like that s.gsub(/\n/, '<br />') But the xss protection including in rails escapes br tags. So i could do this s.gsub(/\n/, '<br />').html_safe But then, all the tags are accepted even script.... causing a big security problem So my question is : how to format text with br safely ? • Django: order by count of a ForeignKey field?

  This is almost certainly a duplicate question, in which case apologies, but I've been searching for around half an hour on SO and can't find the answer here. I'm probably using the wrong search terms, sorry. I have a User model and a Submission model. Each Submission has a ForeignKey field called user_submitted for the User who uploaded it. class Submission(models.Model): uploaded_by = models.ForeignKey('User') class User(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=250 ) My question is pretty simple: how can I get a list of the three users with the most Submissions? I trued creating a num_submissions method on the User model: def num_submissions(self): num_submissions = Submission.objects.filter(uploaded_by=self).count() return num_submissions and then doing: top_users = User.objects.filter(problem_user=False).order_by('num_submissions')[:3] but this fails, as do all the other things I've tried. Can I actually do it using a smart database query? Or should I just do something more hacky in the views file?

  Hey guys, I declared a NSMutableArray in the header-file with: NSMutableArray *myMuArr; and @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *myMuArr; In the .m file I've got a delegate from an other class: -(void)didGrabData:(NSArray*)theArray { self.myMuArr = [[[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:myMuArr]retain]; } If I want to access the self.myMuArr in cellForRowAtIndexPath it's empty (I checked the retain count of the array and it's 0) What am I doing wrong? Of course it's released in the dealloc, no where else. I would be very thankfull for any help :0)

  I’ve just started developing for iPhone and am trying to get my head around memory management. I made a small program that shows a map and an annotation on the map. For the annotation I made a simple class that implements the MKAnnotation protocol. To create and add the annotation I wrote this: [self.myMapView addAnnotation:[[MyAnnotation alloc] init]]; It worked fine until I tried to release the object. Nothing to release. This is what I would have done in C#, I guess it doesn’t work without garbage collection? So is this the only way to do it? • Ruby class variable is reset after rails app initialized

  I tried to assign a class static variable like this class QueryLogger < Logger @@query_logger_default_instance = nil def self.default_instance # Use global variable because static variable doesn't work @@query_logger_default_instance ||= self.new(STDOUT) end end In initializers folder of my rails app, I added a file with this code block ActiveRecord::Base.logger = QueryLogger.default_instance In a request (action of controller), I make a call to this: QueryLogger.default_instance. My assumption is that the call to default_instance will always report the same. However, it does not. Now I try to watch stuff in NetBeans by setting breakpoint inside default_instance. Thing happen as expected, the default_instance get called twice, one due to the initializer block and one due to the call to my action. Surprising thing is, in both times, @@query_logger_default_instance report nil inside NetBeans inspector. The first nil report is correct, but the second shocked me. It's look like static variable gets reset after rails app initialized. Is there some magic there?

• iOS 5 - Coredata Sqlite DB losing data after killing app

  I'm using coredata with a sqlite DB to persist data in my app. However, each time I kill my app I lose any data that was saved in the DB. I'm pretty sure its because the .sqlite file for my DB is just being replaced by a fresh one each time my app starts, but I can't seem to find any code that will just use the existing one thats there. It would be great if anyone could point me towards some code that could handle this for me. • Ads in whole app iPhone problem

  I am using mobclix together with admob. The code is to big to add it in all classes. So i created a new class: Ads Everytime i want an ad in a view, i have to send the view to the ad class: - (void)initAd:(UIView *) pView { NSLog(@"ads init"); self.loadedView = pView; ..... To create an ad in a class: Ad* ad = [Ads new]; [ad initAd:self.view]; I dont know if thats the right way. I have to create a new Ads object everytime i change a view (or class). Is there a way to always have an Ads instance running, or is there another better way? Thanks alot!!

  I'm trying to setup a migration file for a habtm relationship, however when I run the migration I'm getting the following error: Primary key is not allowed in a has_and_belongs_to_many join table (parts_vehicles). • How to set a __str__ method for all ctype Structure classes?

  [Since asking this question, I've found: http://www.cs.unc.edu/~gb/blog/2007/02/11/ctypes-tricks/ which gives a good answer.] I just wrote a __str__ method for a ctype-generated Structure class 'foo' thus: def foo_to_str(self): s = [] for i in foo._fields_: s.append('{}: {}'.format(i[0], foo.\_\_getattribute__(self, i[0]))) return '\n'.join(s) foo.\_\_str__ = foo_to_str But this is a fairly natural way to produce a __str__ method for any Structure class. How can I add this method directly to the Structure class, so that all Structure classes generated by ctypes get it? (I am using the h2xml and xml2py scripts to auto-generate ctypes code, and this offers no obvious way to change the names of the classes output, so simply subclassing Structure, Union &c. and adding my __str__ method there would involve post-processing the output of xml2py.)

  I've implemented my servers in the following way: def makeServer(application, port): factory = protocol.ServerFactory() factory.protocol = MyChat factory.clients = [] internet.TCPServer(port, factory).setServiceParent(application) application = service.Application("chatserver") server1 = makeServer(application, port=1025) server2 = makeServer(application, port=1026) server3 = makeServer(application, port=1027) Note that MyChat is an event handling class that has a "receiveMessage" action: def lineReceived(self, line): print "received", repr(line) for c in self.factory.clients: c.transport.write(message + '\n') I want server1 to be able to pass messages to server2. Rather, I want server1 to be treated as a client of server2. If server1 receives the message "hi" then I want it to send that same exact message to server2. How can I accomplish this?

• Optimizing BeautifulSoup (Python) code

  I have code that uses the BeautifulSoup library for parsing, but it is very slow. The code is written in such a way that threads cannot be used. Can anyone help me with this? I am using BeautifulSoup for parsing and than save into a DB. If I comment out the save statement, it still takes a long time, so there is no problem with the database. def parse(self,text): soup = BeautifulSoup(text) arr = soup.findAll('tbody') for i in range(0,len(arr)-1): data=Data() soup2 = BeautifulSoup(str(arr[i])) arr2 = soup2.findAll('td') c=0 for j in arr2: if str(j).find("<a href=") > 0: data.sourceURL = self.getAttributeValue(str(j),'<a href="') else: if c == 2: data.Hits=j.renderContents() #and few others... c = c+1 data.save() Any suggestions?
