• How can I bind an Enum to a DbType of bit or int?

  Hi I am using Linq2Sql and want to bind an objects field (which is enum) to either a bit or a int type in the database. For example I want have a gender field in my model. I have already edited the DBML and changed the Type to point to my enum. I want to create Radio buttons (which I think I have figured out) for gender and dropdown lists for other areas using the same idea. My enum looks like this public enum Gender { Male, Female } Mapping between DbType 'int' and Type 'Project.Models.Gender' in Column 'Gender' of Type 'Candidate' is not supported. Any ideas on how to do this mapping. Am I missing something on the enums.

  I have a database that has the following records in a DateTime field: 2012-04-13 08:31:00.000 2012-04-12 07:53:00.000 2012-04-11 07:59:00.000 2012-04-10 08:16:00.000 2012-04-09 15:11:00.000 2012-04-08 08:28:00.000 2012-04-06 08:26:00.000 I want to run a linq to sql query to get the average time from the records above. I tried the following: (From o In MYDATA Select o.SleepTo).Average() Since "SleepTo" is a datetime field I get an error on Average(). If I was trying to get the average of say an integer, the above linq query works. What do I need to do to get it to work for datetimes?

• How can I use EF in windows forms to insert new data ?

  Hi Maybe it's simple question, but it's my first time with EF + win app so ... I'm building win app with EF by adding edmx as data source then drag and drop the tables to get navigator and binding source .. when I press the add button in the navigator it allows me to enter new data but when I save the context I get NULL data for all fields except the auto increment field ( the ID field ).... What should I do to save many entries ...? DO I have to loop over all the entities in the binding source and add them to the context ?? Thanx in advance Update: I forgot to say that when i use data grid view it adds the items correctly but with "Details" it didn't ..

• Trying to perform a series of actions on page unload, but the pages unloads too fast to finish them.

  I have a series of actions I want to perform on page unload. Namely if a user is editing an input field, and they refresh or close browser or leave page, I want to save the contents of the field. The actions don't include an AJAX call, so I can't just make it synchronous. It's actually saving to local storage, but the page unloads before the storage can take place. The code is correct, if I add an alert to the actions, the delay allows the rest of the code to finish before it even displays. Any ideas? Thanks!

  Hi all, When I was doing some JQuery and PHP, I noticed the If-else patterns were treated differently and varied from one language to another. Say I got a simple input text field in a HTML and I was using some Ifs and Elses to check the value input into the text field. Text: <input type="text" name="testing"/> In JQuery, I got some codes as follows: if($("#testing").val()==1){ //do something } if($("#testing").val()=="add"){ //do something } else{ //do something } if($("#testing").val()=="hello"){ //do something } How come JQuery and PHP treated the Else statement differently? I mean in JQuery, the third If statement was still proceeded even if it had gone to the Else statement, but it stopped after the Else statement when I repeated the code in PHP script.

The first name is the commonly known CGI variable name while the second is the appropriate counterpart of REQUEST_URI (which contains the value of the uri field of request_rec).   I have a mySQL database with a tad under 2 million rows. The database is non-interactive, so efficiency isn't key. The (simplified) structure I have is: `id` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment `category` varchar(64) NOT NULL `productListing` varchar(256) NOT NULL Now the problem I would like to solve is, I want to find duplicates on productListing field, merge the data on the category field into a single result - deleting the duplicates. • Not compile code blocks when publishing?

  I have many lines i just use for debugging and helpers. Is there a way i can mark these so they do not compile when publishing a project but still can use when running/debugging my program within Eclipse? Even better would be to mark a certain field as debug only and discard everything that has to do with that field completely when publishing. I understand this might get one in trouble when using fields like that and using that in critical parts of the code. But i often find myself initializing a lot of debug fields then comment them out which results in errors down the line if i do not comment those out as well. So is there some way to handle this in a better and more efficient way?

I would like to duplicate a record in a table, but of course, the unique primary key needs to be updated. I have this query: INSERT INTO invoices SELECT * FROM invoices AS iv WHERE iv.ID=XXXXX ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE ID = (SELECT MAX(ID)+1 FROM invoices) the proble mis that this just changes the ID of the row instead of copying the row.   If i takes larger datatype where i know i should have taken datatype that was sufficient for possible values that i will insert into a table will affect any performance in sql server in terms of speed or any other way. eg. IsActive (0,1,2,3) not more than 3 in any case. I know i must take tinyint but due to some reasons consider it as compulsion, i am taking every numeric field as bigint and every character field as nVarchar(Max) Please give statistics if possible, to let me try to overcoming that compulsion. I need some solid analysis that can really make someone rethink before taking any datatype.

  I have an InfoPath form that requires workflow. The form is build from a cXML schema in BizTalk,then dropped into a forms library for workflow. The user opens the infopath form, reviews and picks one of several options: re-submit, archive, escalate, etc. My question is how best to workflow this? Do you have the buttons on the form update a status/action field, and have the workflow listen for an onChange event? Can you update a property on the library, that is not a field on the form? for example, if status is not part of the form schema, but is a column on the document library. I tried to manage it from the Google Appengine Data Viewer with "SELECT * FROM MyEntity Where id = 382005" or via a query in a servlet. I get no results returned. But i know for sure that the object with the id exists (i made a jsp which queries all objects in the db and displays them in the db). So what is wrong in my query? Am I querying the wrong field? The Google Appengine Data Viewer names the field "ID/name" and it has the value "id=382005". Do I have to query with this names? I've tried but it didn't work out :(

My question is: how can I detect ANY value changes of this particular field, like e. g. <input onvaluechange="//do following..." /> The JavaScritp attribute onchange does not fire on change of value, only on changes like blur, focus, etc...   I am populating a "Dictionary" with the results of an sp call. The key is the field name and the value is whatever value the sp returns for the field. This is all well and good but I'd like developers to have a predefined list of keys to access this list, for safety and documentation reasons. What I'd like to do is have something like an enum as a key for the dictionary so developers can safely access the list, but still have the ability to access the dictionary with a string key value. I am hoping to have a list of string values that I can access with an enum key AND a string key. Please make sure any suggestions are simple to implement, this is not the kind of thing I'm willing to build a lot of overhead to implement.

  Hello, I have an attribute which is annotated with @Id. The ID is going to be generated automatically when persisting the object. That means that the ID-value is not defined before I persist the object. After persisting it, it has an ID (in the database), but unfortunately the field still remains null as long as I don't reload it from the DB. is there any easy way to find out the generated id? • Simple iPhone tally method question

  Just trying to create a simple method that counts up 1 on the tally when the button is pressed. My knowledge is extremely limited and I am pretty sure that my problem is somewhere in the method implementation: -(IBAction) updateTally:(id) sender { NSString *text; int total = 0; total = total + 1; text=[[NSString alloc] initWithFormat: @"%i", total]; lblTally.text = text; } I have done the necessary interface declarations for the lblTally UILabel and the updateTally method. I suspect that there is some sort of an NSString/int/%i/%@ mixup that I am making but I'm not sure how to fix it. When I run the program as it currently is it displays a 0 in the lblTally label field on the iphone. When I press the button it then displays a 1 in that field. However, if I continue to press the button - nothing happens.
