  • What is SocketOptionName.ReuseAddress used for?

    - by Hemant
I used to think that using SocketOptionName.ReuseAddress, I can reuse a port that is in TIME_WAIT state. But I tried to experiment with it and it seems it has no effect. If I check sockets using netstat, and it shows the socket is in TIME_WAIT state and I immediately run the client again, I get the exception: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted 172.16.16.16:12345 I cannot make anything out of it. Please can you elaborate what SocketOptionName.ReuseAddress is good for?

  • Boost Jam vs Jam

    - by User1
I recently built the Boost libraries in Linux and noticed the package needed an executable called bjam in order to do the build. Is bjam related to jam? If it is related to jam, did they somehow extend (or even dumb-down) bjam? Is it used only for building Boost libraries or is it a general build tool for anything?

  • How can I select the pixels from an image in opencv?

    - by ajith
This is refined version of my previous question. Actually I want to do following operation... summation for all k|(i,j)?wk [(Ii-µk)*(Ij-µk)], where wk is a 3X3 window, µk is the mean of wk, Ii & Ij are the intensities of the image at i and j. I dont know how to select Ii & Ij separately from an image which is 2 dimensional[Iij]...or does the equation mean anything else?

  • javascript: why to "sign-prefix" a variable?

    - by harald
hello, i'm currently looking at a little 3rd-party javascript library and i see a lot of "sign-prefixed" variables in it: function_call(+value); i know, that you can swap the sign, if you prefix a variable with '-', but why to prefix something with a '+' -- it doesn't do anything to the value, no? thanks in advance!

  • Creating a java library

    - by Albinoswordfish
This may be a silly question, but right now I have a rather large class that I want to use as a library. Where somebody can simply add this jar file to their classpath. And then simply do an import statement at the top, then he or she can start using this class. Is there anything special I need to do or can I simply just use the jar file built?

  • Word 2007 Master Pages

    - by Ryan Riley
I'm using the Open XML SDK to work with Word 2007 templates, and the project continues to progress nicely. Now I would like to add consistent headers and footers to every document, very similar to an ASP.NET MasterPage. In particular, I'd like to compose a template document with a content document, then fill the content using the approach described here. I can't find anything on this topic. Thanks for your help!

  • C# Number of days between two dates problem

    - by Jamie
Hi all, I have a small problem with the code below, the 'days' variable always seems to be 0 no matter how far apart the days are. Can you see anything obviously wrong? System.TimeSpan span = dates[0] - dates[1]; // e.g. 12/04/2010 11:44:08 and 18/05/2010 11:52:19 int days = (int)span.TotalDays; if (days > 10) //days always seems to be 0 { throw new Exception("Over 10 days"); } Thanks

  • How to access Java servlet running on my PC from outside ?

    - by Frank
I used Netbeans6.7 to write a servlet, when it runs, it opens a browser window with this address : http://localhost:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet, I replaced the "localhost" with my IP address, now it looks like this : http://192.???.1.??:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet, but I tried to access it from another computer outside my home, it can't read anything, I wonder if I need to change Windows Fire Wall setting to allow outside traffic, it's a Paypal IPN app, so I call Paypal, they said they can't access : http://192.???.1.??:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet What on my side should I do to allow traffic from "paypal.com" to access "My_App/Test_Servlet" ? • Adobe Color Profiles/Color Spaces, how is it possible that this works?

    - by leeand00
I'm learning about Color Profiles/Color Spaces/Monitor Color Management Profiles and I was just wondering how any of that justified considering the fact that I could throw the entire color anything off by adjusting the brightness and contrast of my monitor? Additionally there are things like lighting in the place where your monitor resides. I don't understand what makes it possible to know that the colors that you are looking at on your monitor are accurate. I really don't have any idea where to start (considering I obviously can't even get the terminology right in the first place...:-p)

  • "Hello World" in less than 20 bytes

    - by xelurg
We have had an interesting competition once, where everyone would write their implementation of hello world program. One requirement was that is should be less than 20 bytes in compiled form. the winner would be the one whose version is the smallest... What would be your solution? :) Platform: 32bit, x86 OS: DOS, Win, GNU/Linux, *BSD Language: Asm, C, or anything else that compiles into binary executable (i.e. no bash scripts and stuff ;)

  • Recommendations for a .NET component to access an email inbox

    - by Ian Nelson
I've been asked to write a Windows service in C# to periodically monitor an email inbox and insert the details of any messages received into a database table. My instinct is to do this via POP3 and sure enough, Googling for ".NET POP3 component" produces countless (ok, 146,000) results. Has anybody done anything similar before and can you recommend a decent component that won't break the bank (a few hundred dollars maximum)? Would there be any benefits to using IMAP rather than POP3?
