• Adobe Flash not working anymore with Browsers

  Hi guys, I have a really annoying problem: essentially, Adobe Flash is not working anymore. For instance, I cant watch any clip on youtube and I always get a black screen saying: Movie not loaded ... I have the newest Flash version (10.0.45.2), and the problem is the same with IE, Firefox or Chrome. I am using WIN XP and I turned of Antivirus software as well as Firewall, still I cant watch any flash stuff. Anyone an idea what could have happened in the last week? Never had a problem before that! Thanks!

• Windows 7 client can't connect to CentOS PPTP VPN

  Have a Macintosh (10.8.2) that connects just fine to a CentOS 6.0 virtual private server (OpenVZ, with PPP added by the host) via PPTP. A Windows 7 Home Premium client (virtualized in Sun's Virtual Box), on the same computer, using the same Ethernet connection, cannot connect to the Linux VPN server. I have iptables disabled (for testing) on the Linux box. • How to jump through an IP ad in firefox?

  I use firefox with a lot of anti-ad extension, like adblock, NoScript, Ghosty etc. I found this IP 220.191.158.69 always in the list of NoScript, I want to ban this IP. I have checked it, searched it. It is from China telecom damn Ad. I guess NoScript can ban this IP already, but When I do not allow that IP, sometimes a webpage can not be loaded at first time, I need to refresh two or more times. I hate it... So I hope there are some way or browser extensions or script can jump through this damn IP.

• BackTrack5 R2 video driver works, but presents disturbing error message

  I've installed backtrack 5 R2 on my computer and everything works fine but the video driver. The solution described here does work, but whenever I start the graphics mode, a message saying that the graphics card doesn't support the configuration that is loaded. I don't know why this is happening. It doesn't change the performance of my computer, but I'd like to know why the message is arising, and what I can do to stop it. Alternatively, where can I find the configuration file that would help me understand what's going on?

  I was wondering how you could get apache2 to redirect http://server.com:8080 to https://server.com:8080 - I have an ISPConfig 3 setup and the http://server.com:8080 virtual host currently prints a 400 back request error given that I've tried adding RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !^on$ [NC] RewriteRule . https://%{HTTP_HOST}:8080%{REQUEST_URI} [L] to the ispconfig.vhost file (and reloading the conf) with no success --edit!-- I've been playing around with it and adding an 'always redirect to google' into the ispconfig vhost and it works once you've already started talking ssl to it. this means the non-ssl connections are getting 'bad request errors' before the vhost is loaded... but where...? --edit 2!-- nope, the ssl is handled exclusively by the virtual host - if I turn off the ssl engine then the rewriting works perfectly (but obviously there is no ssl at https://) thanks!

• How can I tell which config file Apache is using?

  I'm trying to set up virtual hosts on Mac OS X. I've been modifying httpd.conf and restarting the server, but haven't had any luck in getting it to work. Furthermore, I notice that it's not serving files in the DocumentRoot mentioned in httpd.conf (Libraries/WebServer/Documents), but in a different directory (/usr/local/apache2/htdocs). I don't see this folder mentioned anywhere in httpd.conf. Furthermore, PHP works, but the "LoadModule php5_module" line is commented out. This makes me think it's using another .conf file. How can I figure out which config is actually being loaded? Update: I just deleted that httpd.conf and apache behaves the same after restart, so it definitely wasn't using it!

• System and active partitions, and "System Reserved"

  Upon trying a 3rd party bootloader (loaded from a disc), and trying to boot into my partition "Windows 7", I get "BOOTMGR is missing, Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". But ordinary booting works fine. So I'm thinking, that perhaps it's because of my partitions. Upon opening "Disk Management", I notice out of my partitions, "System Reserved", "Windows 7" and "Documents", "Documents" is marked as both System and Active. I've looked into what an active partition is, and what "System Reserved" is for, so I'm thinking - should I mark "System Reserved" as active? The problem is, all images of Disk Management depicting "System Reserved" have it with both System and Active attributes, and so I am unsure on what to do, and also on why my "Documents" partition even is marked with System and Active.

• I install Ubuntu 13.10 and reboot and im on KDE desktop?

  Hi I'm Jacob and I have no idea what's going on. I installed Ubuntu 13.10 today and was playing around with it for a while and dl'd a bunch of apps from software center and stuff. Eventually I installed steam and (finally) got it working. I downloaded TF2 and had some weird issue where the screen got so distorted to the point I could not play. So I dl'd a driver for my graphics card from the additional drivers app (or whatever it's called) and when it was done I restarted my computer (because it said to.) When the PC booted up it loaded the KDE desktop and I have no idea why. I had unity before I rebooted. Ubuntu 13.10 is the only OS installed on my PC, and I still have all the apps that I downloaded, but I kinda like unity (I started using Ubuntu after they switched to unity) and want it back. • Auto-Attach EBS-volume to a New Spot Instance?

  I am experimenting with EC2 spot instances, and am needing some data to be retained between terminations. Now as I understand it, when the current price goes above my max. bid, it will be automatically terminated. I assume any init scripts I have will be run on shutdown so I can push data off to the EBS before unmounting. My question is, how can I automatically mount the same EBS volume on the new spot instance once the price goes down, since it won't have any of my init scripts that I would've loaded onto the root volume the first time? Do I have to create a custom AMI, or is there some other way to achieve this?

  I'm not really clear with my question here, let me rephrase it : I've setup a launch_workspace.sh to launch directly tmux with 5 different commands loaded. Is there a way to have said behavior, to launch zsh with a command and return to a zsh prompt when the command fails ? Cheers

• Can't type into some text fields in any browser on Windows 7

  I can't type into e.g. facebook's log in form with my computer. I hit my keys, but nothing happens. Special characters like c, c, š, etc. work. Backspace doesn't, delete does. This goes for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. This also happens with some other sites, sometimes even with gmail (or any google's log in form). I read somewhere that the solution is to reregister some dlls: regsvr32 mshtmled.dll regsvr32 jscript.dll regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll The first two work, the third one says The module "mshtml.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer.dll was not found. And of course, running just the first two didn't help. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Server is running: Win Server 2008 w/ SP2 (64 bit) Backup Exec 2010 I am backing up to a Tandberg T24 tape library.

• SSH is not working .. Password promt is not coming

  I am not able to SSH into my ubuntu server since yesterday. I am not using any keyless or public key method.. Its simple SSH with username and password everytime.. However I can do a VNC session running on my ubuntu server.. But I am afraid that if the vnc session goes out, I wont be having any way to login to the server.. • Windows 8 Radeon update broke some games

  I've been using Windows 8 Consumer Preview 32-bit on my desktop for months, and recently did a software update through Windows Update. An update for my Radeon HD 5450 driver (Catalyst) to WDDM 1.2 was in the list of updates, and installed. When I went to play CS:GO and discovered that when loaded, it would not display the GUI (menus, sometimes even the background) after a few seconds of flickering GUI. I can still navigate the menus 'by feel' and connect to and play on servers, but have no GUI, no buy menu, no map, no cross-hairs, no health indicator, etc. I have tried CS:S, which works, and Borderlands, which doesn't even load the intro videos before the first menu screen. I've tried re-installing Catalyst from the AMD website, and the beta, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling CS:GO. The problem with it (and Borderlands) still happen. What broke, and how can I fix it? I'll be reinstalling soon anyway to dump Windows 8 back to 7, but would like to be able to game until then.

  I am having a bit of a hard time providing localized strings for the UI in a small Silverlight 4 application. Upon further inspection I took apart the XAP resulted file, taken the resulted DLL file to Reflector and inspected the embedded resources. It only contains the default resource!! Going back to the two resource files I am now inspecting their properties : Build action : Embedded Resource Copy to output directory : Do not copy Custom tool : ResXFileCodeGenerator Custom tool namespace : [empty] Both resource (.resx) files have these settings. • pecl_http extension not loading

  For some reason pecl_http extension is not showing up in my test.php file with contains: <?php phpinfo(); ?> I just installed pecl_http using: pecl install pecl_http The install was successful and I verified it by running: pecl list Installed packages, channel pecl.php.net: ========================================= Package Version State mongo 1.2.10 stable pecl_http 1.7.4 stable I then located my php.ini file using: php -i | grep 'Configuration File' Configuration File (php.ini) Path => /etc/php5/cli Loaded Configuration File => /etc/php5/cli/php.ini I edited it in vim and added: extension=http.so Finally I restarted Nginx and PHP-FastCGI: /etc/init.d/nginx restart /etc/init.d/php-fastcgi stop /etc/init.d/php-fastcgi start My PHP extension_dir is : /usr/lib/php5/20090626 I verified that "http.so" is located in that directory. Any ideas why it's not loading? My machine is running a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit Profile on Linode. The only other extensions I have installed are New Relic and Mongo. Thanks!

  I am setting up a domain = mydomain.com with 2 nameservers ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com in Webmin - BIND. For this, I have registered 2 child nameservers at my domain registrar, and in Webmin-Bind I have set up a new zone for this domain. In this zone, i have specified 2 nameserver records- one each for ns1 and ns2. Also, I have defined 2 address records- one each for ns1.mydomain.com -> IP Address #1 and for ns2.mydomain.com -> IP Address #2 However when I try to start BIND in Webmin, I get the following error-- Failed to start BIND : Starting named: Error in named configuration: zone mydomain.com/IN: has no NS records zone mydomain.com/IN: not loaded due to errors. _default/mydomain.com/IN: bad zone [FAILED]

• Printing perforated business cards

  I have a Brother MFC 440CN printer with the paper loaded underneath it. The problem with my stack of perforated business cards is that I can't print double-sided. The printer pulls the paper out from under its paper tray below and rolls it through the top for printing. With perforated business cards, they paper breaks at the perforations. Is there a method to preventing the slicing? Also, my printer also has some trouble pulling up the paper in general but I don't seem to understand why other than that the perforations break before the paper is grabbed for printing.

• Win 2008 R2 Server Not Recognizing Second Hard Drive

  Hello, I just purchased a Dell server, which has two hard drives and no RAID setup. I can only currently see one hard drive... not sure how to get it to recognize the other, as I thought being a new machine that wouldn't be an issue. It has Windows Server 2008 R2 that I loaded on.   I'm using 64bit Centos Dom0 with: 2.6.18-164.15.1.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Mar 17 12:04:23 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux recently i migrated some 32bit Centos domUs on this node. As by specs 32bit domUs should work with 64bit dom0. DomUs are paravirtualized, and everything works, except iptables limit. • XP Computer won't start (Missing/Corrupt 'System' file) - recently added new hard drive

  Hi all, Pulling my hair out here. I recently replaced my D: 1TB drive (not a system drive) with a new 1.5TB drive. I loaded Windows XP, formatted the new drive and it was showing as working fine, alongside my C: windows system drive. I restart my machine and all of a sudden, Windows doesn't load and instead I get: "Windows could not start beause the following file is missing or corrupt" \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM I don't have the original XP installation CD, although I do have another copy of XP, when I try and boot to it, I get the blue 'STOP' screen after it attempts to load the setup utlity for about a minute. Can someone please help? When I set up my new hard drive as a primary partition did this someone screw up my C: hard drive? Did it perhaps unmount it somehow? Any help would be fantastic. Thanks
