• Fedora 12 How to Force a Display to Load on Boot even when no Monitor is Attached

  When booting Fedora 12 with no monitor connected, if I connect a monitor later it gives a no signal error. I think it is set to auto-detect if a monitor is connected or not and load a display based of that. Since it initially detects no monitor no display is loaded. What I would like to do is have it act as if a monitor was always connected and provide the display signal always. I don't know if this is the issue or not but if you know how I might be able to fix this issue so that I can connect a monitor whenever I feel like it without having to restart that would be best. Thanks for the help! :D

• How do I send traffic from my Mac's wifi to my VPN client?

  I need to connect my Android to a Juniper VPN. Unfortunately, Juniper doesn't support Android on our VPN version. We've already put in a feature request for it, but we have no idea how long it will take to be complete. Right now, I connect to the Juniper VPN with a Juniper Mac OSX VPN client that uses Java to install kernel extensions to start and stop the VPN. Thus, I can't use the Network panel in System Preferences to create a VPN device, which means it won't show up in the 'Sharing' panel's Internet Sharing Share your connection from: menu, as suggested here. • Why did my Cisco router hang?

  We have a Cisco 1841 in our storage IDF that was originally running a 12.4(1) IP-BASE image; I wanted to upgrade to an advancedservicesk9-mz image, but the flash did not have enough space, so I deleted the running image. Later I tried inserting a larger CF from a Catalyst4500, which crashed the 1841 router (now without a bootable image). Using another 1800 series router, I loaded the 12.4(25g) advancedservicesk9 image and verified the image checksums. I set the confreg to 0x2102 from rommon and booted the new image; however the 1841 now hangs indefinitely after printing the IOS export control banner. I have tried four other images, all with the same results. What is wrong with this router? UPDATE 1: I tried loading images from a FAT16-formatted USB, but this didn't work either. I also tried tftpdnld from rommon, but got a get_mac_address(): Search T_IDPROM_MACADDR (0xc3) failed Illegal MAC address. error and the file would not load.

• Flex Error: Repeater is not executing.

  Hello Everyone, I have been trying to get a Repeater to work since yesterday. It works the first time it has been loaded with data but the second time, it is loaded, the following error results with the debugger higlighting a row with the statement isHandlingEvent = false; in the watcherFired method of the Binding class. This happens whether the Repeater is updated by setting its dataProvider or if a bound variable is changed. • Why would the 'show processlist' command speed up normally slow requests to my remote DB? (connected via VPN)

  I am running a local Django development server that connects to a remote MySQL server via a VPN (IPSec). Request times are awfully slow and I consistently see timeouts. Attempting to diagnose the problem, I logged in to the remote database and ran: show full processlist Immediately, the local server went from idle to working. The page had not yet completely loaded, but progress had been made (debug logs confirm this). When I ran 'show full processlist' several times more in succession, the request completed quickly. I can currently reproduce this - unless I run 'show full processlist' over and over on the remote server, my local request usually times out. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen? I'm running Django 1.3 and OS X 10.7. Note: I realize this may be entirely not be a question with a clear-cut answer and is probably my fault, but it is odd and reproducable, so I hope someone can at least point me the right direction. • Settings on php.ini ignored

  I can't get my server to obey the settings from php.ini (I'm trying to change memory_limit and upload_max_filesize). As far as I can tell, I'm editing the correct file. phpinfo() gives: Loaded Configuration File /etc/php.ini The file permission is 644. There are also some extra .ini files on /etc/php.d, but none include any of the keys I'm trying to change. No matter what I do, phpinfo reports the default values on both "Local" and "Master" columns. I also scanned my Apache config files, but found nothing related to PHP (besides loading the PHP module). The only way I was able to change those settings was by adding some php_value lines to my .htaccess. Is there something obvious I'm missing? This is a virtual server, and I can perform root commands with sudo. I'm running Apache 2.1.3 and PHP 5.3.3. System info (from uname -a) is: Linux sesctbapp01 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Mar 7 04:16:51 EST 2012 x86_64

  We have a specific accounting and production software, called 1C, which uses single user connection to the MS SQL 2008 R2 database. And there are about 500 users connecting to 1C server to perform their tasks. 1C and SQL 2008 are on separate servers. How to configure MS SQL 2008 R2 to effectively use parallelization in this configuration? We have 24 cores, and only one is loaded at 100% at MS SQL 2008 R2 server. The problem I am having as stated in the title is for some reason Ubuntu is playing audio through my headphone coming out from the computer and it is also playing the audio at the exact same time through the HDMI connection coming out of the graphics card, it has a plug to allow this. What is going on, I have never seen this before. Most importantly of all can it be fixed so that I can sepertate the 2 interfaces, the one is a standard PC audio IO and the HDMI one is connected through the mobo's internal SPDIF. • How to correctly add daemon in MacOS 10.6.6 via launchd?

  Hello. I have a very simple task to accomplish: to start tomcat application server on latest MacOS as a daemon. I have performed following steps: Installed Tomcat in /Library/Tomcat/Home Validated that it runs fine by executed /Library/Tomcat/Home/bin/startup.sh Added org.apache.tomcat.plist file to /Library/LaunchDaemons as found on internet (http://blog.i18n.ro/complete-guide-for-installing-hudson-ci-on-os-x-10-6/) Instructed MacOS to load a daemon description via sudo launchctl load org.apache.tomcat.plist. It succeeded (issuing this command second time outputs "already loaded"). Instructed MacOS to start a daeon via sudo launchctl start org.apache.tomcat.plist At this point MacOS shows an error "launchctl start error: No such process". I have checked the logfile for launchd - it have no record for this error. Google says nothing. And from error text i can't figure out what is the "process" and why it is "wrong" :(. Any hints what i'm doing wrong?

  For no apparent reason all my Swing GUI forms using components linked to org.jdesktop.beansbinding.Converter started generating errors when trying to open the Design View: Error Error in loading component property: [JPanel]-filterTextField-converter. But still i get this, PHP Fatal error: Class 'mysqli' not found i tried enabling dynamic loading and initialize php scripts with dl("mysqli.so"); i also tried recompiling the php source: ./configure --with-mysql=/usr/lib64/mysql --with- mysqli=/usr/lib64/mysql/mysql_config even this didn't work. Can anybody help me solve my problem? Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5 (Tikanga). x86_64 GNU/Linux. No access to RHN. Thanks.

• PHP5 module makes Apache 1.3 segfault

  I am trying to get PHP4 and 5 to work with Apache 1.3. PHP4 is compiled as a module and currently works fine, although Apache does display the following warning upon starting: Loaded DSO libphp4.so uses plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI! (please recompile it with -DEAPI) So I compiled PHP5 using the latest source. I get the same warning, twice now for each PHP module, but then Apache gets a segmentation fault when loading the PHP4 + PHP5 modules. I have tried compiling PHP5 with apxs and without. It does appear to be using the -DEAPI flag. Maybe this isn't related to the segfault. The flags I am using to configure PHP5: ./configure --with-mysql --with-zlib --disable-cgi --with-apxs=/www/bin/apxs

• IIS 7 URL rewrite rule

  Hello, guys! We have here to web servers behind a router - one IIS and one Tomcat (on different machines / IP addresses). The domain is pointing to out external IP, which is forwarded to IIS (internal IP 192.168.1.10 for example). I'm trying to do the following: when [www.]ourdomain.com is entered the default web site on IIS have to be loaded (this part is ok), but when test.ourdomain.com is entered I want to redirect this request to another web server (192.168.1.11 for example). I created a site "test" on IIS and it is displayed when test.ourdomain.com is entered. Then I tried to redirect it with following rule: Requested URL matches the pattern: * (using wildcards) Condition: {HTTP_HOST} matches test.ourdomain.com Action type: Rewrite Rewrite URL: http://192.168.1.11/{R:0} but when I try to load test.ourdomain.com now I get IIS's error 404 page. Obviously I'm wrong :-) How can I do such a redirect?

  on win 64, I installed apache, php etc. Everything works fine, except the oracle part. I can connect to oracle from sql developer which means my tnsnames.ora file is correct. When apache starts, there are no errors in the logs. But when I try to connect to oracle from my database, oracle module php_oci8.dll is not loaded. What am I doing wrong?   I've just compiled a web stack on Solaris 10. This is a fairly standard Apache 2 / MySQL 5 / PHP 5 stack with all the most recent stable versions. I dropped phpMyAdmin on the server and set up httpd.conf to get that online. When I browse to the page, login fails, and a persistent message appears beneath the login form: The mcrypt extension is missing. Please check your PHP configuration. However, I compiled PHP with the --with-mcrypt flag. A file, info.php: <?php phpinfo(); ?> shows that mcrypt support is enabled. Running: php -m on the command line shows that mcrypt is loaded. Google hasn't been much help, and I was hoping someone around these parts could throw some help my way. If I need to provide any further detail, please let me know what you need to know.

  I have a Windows box loaded with Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.2. It runs great if only a few users are on it at a time, but under load testing (50 users for test #1), the CPU climbs up to 100%. Nearly all of this CPU usage comes from httpd.exe. I currently have PHP set up via php5_module, but one of the first things I plan to try next is to use FastCGI instead. Is FastCGI better at handling multiple connections? Any other ideas on what might be causing Apache to run so high?

  I am using DBAN to erase HDD. DBAN is loaded from a CD and BIOS Boot order has been set to favour CD drive. On starting laptop, system boots from CD and DBAN interface can be seen. DBAN detects two storage devices, HDD and the SD Card. My HDD IS 320GB but DBAN says 298GB. It erases the SD card but when i try to erase HDD, it gives following error.   hello, i'm currently thinking of a clean way of how to bring an ftp server down for maintenance. i wonder, if anybody out there could give me some hints of how to solve this: i don't want to interrupt any current uploads, but want to block any new connects / uploads and wait, till uploads have finished, before taking down the ftp server is there a way of dynamically prevent user-logins and show a message eg.: "ftp currently down for maintenance" when a user tries to log in? are my thoughts on this very uncommon or how do others handle this -- i feel, that just halting ftp server and killing any current uploads is not the right way for this ... i use proftpd (with SQL backend) btw, maybe there are some specific solutions for this -- or are there any generic tools to achieve this? many thanks!

  hi, just got a macbook pro 15" so i'm unfamiliar with how the filesystem is laid out. i noticed when in my filesystem that i've got a few paths specifying httpd.conf /etc/apache2/httpd.conf /opt/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf the confs are different in lots of ways-- e.g. user, group, server_root, modules that are loaded, etc. the apache2 folders themselves also greatly differ. it seems that the one getting used is either /etc/apache2/httpd.conf or /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf i'm wondering if i might have messed up my system after installing some packages (php5, django, etc) via macports and maybe ended up with 2 apache2 instances. my questions are hence: - which httpd.conf is the one being used ? - what are the other files for? thanks

• Microsoft word slow switching and safe mode

  I don't know what I did, but recently when I opened Microsoft Word document, I experienced very slow app switch between it and other applications. When I start Word in Word's safe mode (as described here http://wordprocessing.about.com/od/troubleshootin1/qt/safemode.htm ), the issue disappears. Now I don't know where to find out which plugins were loaded that's causing the problem. Or where the normal.dot is if that's the problem. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit. Thanks.
