  Hello, I have a mysql table. It has auto increment on the id. but I regularly delete rows so the numbers are all over the place. I need to get the last n rows out, but because of deletions, the common way of using the max of the autoincremented id column doesn't work well... 1 - Is their another way to get the bottom 50? 2 - Is their a way to get rows by actual row number? so if I have 4 rows labelled 1,2,3,4 delete row 2 then it will become 1,2,3 rather than 1,3,4?

• LINQ to SQL - Get only substring from a field

  I'm studying ASP.NET MVC and I use LINQ to SQL for model. I have a table named "Note" with the fields "Title" and "Content". The "Content" field can contain thousand characters. What I want to do is to display the LIST of notes in a page. I use table with two columns, for "Title" and SUBSTRING of the "Content" (50 characters). My problem is, I don't know how to edit the model so that it will display only the substring of the "Content". Thanks in advance!

• Enable vertical scrolling on textarea

  I have a textarea that I want to enable vertical scrolling. When I exceed the height of the textarea, it increases in size. The scroll bar does not appear. I want that a vertical scroll bar appears and the users are not able to resize the text area as well. I searched online and tried solutions posted, but none seem to work.   My file contains a series of numbers (integer, float, integer, float ....), each written on a separate line. The numbers of columns are different from one line to another i.e. 1 2.45 3 1.75 5 3.45 7 2.55 9 3.25 6 1.75 4 3.55 6 2.55 9 2.45 The program should read the contents of the entire file and place the data into an array of type float with an entry for each line. • How to split a View in several pages when a number of elements is reached?

  I am using Views to display a gallery. Right now I have set up the View so it onlys shows 50 elements, but I want it to display a "Next" button that takes you to the next batch of elements. Preferably using AJAX / without reloading, but its not necessary. How can I do this? I have looked at all the options and searched for a module that does that with no success, but I am sure its a standard funcionality and you people can help me. Thank you for reading.

  Basically, I am trying to put a semi-transparent div over an image to serve as a background for text for a slideshow. Unfortunately, the browser seems intent on always rendering the img over the background-image. Is there any way to fix this? Here is my current CSS for the semi-transparent div: #slideshow .info { height: 80px; margin-top: -80px; background: url(../../images/slideshow-info-pixel.png) repeat; } ... with slideshow-info-pixel.png being a single pixel, 50% opacity, PNG 24. I have so far tried z-index and the CSS must be compatible with IE6.

Though the first cell resizes, it seems to mess up the cell below it.   I am trying to proccess a queue of tasks from a database table as fast as possible while also limiting the number of threads to process the tasks. I am using a fixed sized thread pool with Executors.newFixedThreadPool(N); I want to know if there is a way of knowing if the thread pool is full, by that I mean are there currently 50 threads running, if so then I'll wait for a thread to be available before starting a new one instead of sleeping the main thread. For example I have rule for rating value X: 1 post in 3 days 10 comments in 1 day 20 votes in 2 days for rating value Y, rule may be following: 3 post in 1 day 50 comments in 1 day 30 votes in 1 day Each night I recalculate users' ratings, so I know what each user is able to do. Possibilities don't sum or reset on each rating's recalculation. One more important thing is that admin can fill concrete user's possibilities at any time. What is optimal database (MySQL) structure for desired? • VS2008 is very slow on a specific large C++ solution

  I have a solution with 21 C++ projects and 1 VB.NET project. The IDE responds very slowly when I simply move the carret in a file or try to open the menu. The process seems to take 50% of CPU for each movement. It only happens with this solution and only on my machine. The solution has total of 2380 source and header files, of which 1280 are header files. I tried to remove all connection to the source control (Perforce) but it didn't help. Also, I have Visual Assist installed but even after removing it (uninstall), the same behavior continued. Any idea?

  Here's the scenario, I want to create a set of random, small jpg's - anywhere between 50 bytes and 8k in size - the actual visual content of the jpeg is irrelevant as long as they're valid. I need to generate a thousand or so, and they all have to be unique - even if they're only different by a single pixel. Can I just write a jpeg header/footer and some random bytes in there? I'm not able to use existing photos or sets of photos from the web. The second issue is that the set of images has to be different for each run of the program. I'd prefer to do this in python, as the wrapping scripts are in Python. I've looked for python code to generate jpg's from scratch, and didn't find anything, so pointers to libraries are just as good.

  I have been searching around and I cannot figure out how to sumarise the data I have in my data frame (subject to some ranges). I know that it can be done when applying some combination of daaply/taaply or table but I haven't been able to get the exact result I was expecting. Basically I want to turn this: part_no val1 val2 val3 2 1 2 3 45.3 2 1 3 4 -12.3 3 1 3 4 99.3 3 1 5 2 -3.2 3 1 4 3 -55.3 Into this: part_no val3_between0_50 val3_bw50_100 val3_bw-50_0 val3_bw-100_-50 2 1 0 0 1 0 3 0 1 0 1 1 This is dummy data, I got a lot more rows, but the idea is the same. I just want to count the number of values for a participant that meet certain condition. If anyone could explain it sort of step by step, I would really appreciate it. I saw lots of different little posts around, but none do exactly this and my attempts only got me half way there. Like using table, etc. Thanks!

  Hi, I have an image which is 80px X 50 px, and I need to place that in one of the child of a FrameLayout, how can I specific the layout_width and layout_height of a Framelayout which fits an image without scaling it? I know there is a layout_height="wrap_content" layout_wight="wrap_content" for FrameLayout, but I can't use it, since that FrameLayout has other children. So I would like to hard code the FrameLayout width/height to match the dimension of the image? Should I use layout_width="80px" or layout_width="80dip"? Thank you.

• Wierd characters in exported csv files when converting

  Hey guys, I came across a problem I cannot solve on my own concerning the downloadable csv formatted trends data files from Google Insights for Search. I'm to lazy to reformat the files I4S gives me manually what means: Extracting the section with the actual trends data and reformatting the columns so that I can use it with a modelling program I do for school. So I wrote a tiny script the should do the work for me: Taking a file, do some magic and give me a new file in proper format. What it's supposed to do is reading the file contents, extracting the trends section, splitting it by newlines, splitting each line and then reorder the columns and maybe reformat them. When looking at a untouched I4S csv file it looks normal containing CR LF caracters at line breaks (maybe thats only because I'm using Windows). When just reading the contents and then writing them to a new file using the script wierd asian characters appear between CR and LF. I tried the script with a manually written similar looking file and even tried a csv file from Google Trends and it works fine.   As a programmer of data-entry forms of all kinds, I often find myself making fields for things like Country: <choose from list>, State: <choose from list>, Race/Ethnicity: <choose from list>. Consider: Perhaps a list the 50 United States names is an easy thing to find (does one include DC?) , but the countries are not. Nearly every site you find has a differing list with all of the political goings on over the years, and they become outdated quickly. What's the best/common practice regarding population of these kinds of lists? Where does this data come from if it's not given in the specs?

• Corona SDK - Make a character pass through a platform

  I'm building a game that has a character which should jump up on multiple platforms. The jumping functionality is done, but I would like if the character is just below a platform (static body), when I press the "jump" button, the character should pass through that platform and then sit on it. Right now it collides with the platform, and character cannot jump on it. Do you have any idea how this can be achieved? Right now the platforms are represented by rectangles with "static" body type: local platform = display.newRect( 50, 280, 150, 10 ) platform:setFillColor ( 55, 55, 55) physics.addBody ( platform, "static", {density=1.0, friction=1.0, bounce=0 }) And I was thinking if I could change, or remove the body type of platform when the character collids with it, so he can pass trough platform, but I don't know how to do this, or in general if this will work... maybe there are some built in techniques on how to achieve the effect I want?
