  • Java calendar day_of_week not working

    - by Raptrex
    I have a for loop starting at startTime going up to endTime and I would like it to print out the date if it is either a monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, or friday. Currently, it is only printing out the endTime date. The other stuff splits the string, which you can ignore. Since 5/16/2010 is a sunday, it should print out 17,18,19,20,21, 24 and 25. However it only prints 25 import java.util.*; public class test { public static void main(String[] args) { String startTime = "5/16/2010 11:44 AM"; String endTime = "5/25/2010 12:00 PM"; GregorianCalendar startCal = new GregorianCalendar(); startCal.setLenient(true); String[] start = splitString(startTime); //this sets year, month day startCal.set(Integer.parseInt(start[2]),Integer.parseInt(start[0])-1,Integer.parseInt(start[1])); startCal.set(GregorianCalendar.HOUR, Integer.parseInt(start[3])); startCal.set(GregorianCalendar.MINUTE, Integer.parseInt(start[4])); if (start[5].equalsIgnoreCase("AM")) { startCal.set(GregorianCalendar.AM_PM, 0); } else { startCal.set(GregorianCalendar.AM_PM, 1); } GregorianCalendar endCal = new GregorianCalendar(); endCal.setLenient(true); String[] end = splitString(endTime); endCal.set(Integer.parseInt(end[2]),Integer.parseInt(end[0])-1,Integer.parseInt(end[1])); endCal.set(GregorianCalendar.HOUR, Integer.parseInt(end[3])); endCal.set(GregorianCalendar.MINUTE, Integer.parseInt(end[4])); if (end[5].equalsIgnoreCase("AM")) { endCal.set(GregorianCalendar.AM_PM, 0); } else { endCal.set(GregorianCalendar.AM_PM, 1); } for (int i = startCal.get(Calendar.DATE); i < endCal.get(Calendar.DATE); i++) { if (startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.MONDAY || startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.TUESDAY || startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.WEDNESDAY || startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.THURSDAY || startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.FRIDAY) { startCal.set(Calendar.DATE, i); System.out.println(startCal.get(Calendar.DATE)); } } } private static String[] splitDate(String date) { String[] temp1 = date.split(" "); // split by space String[] temp2 = temp1[0].split("/"); // split by / //5/21/2010 10:00 AM return temp2; // return 5 21 2010 in one array } private static String[] splitTime(String date) { String[] temp1 = date.split(" "); // split by space String[] temp2 = temp1[1].split(":"); // split by : //5/21/2010 10:00 AM String[] temp3 = {temp2[0], temp2[1], temp1[2]}; return temp3; // return 10 00 AM in one array } private static String[] splitString(String date) { String[] temp1 = splitDate(date); String[] temp2 = splitTime(date); String[] temp3 = new String[6]; return dateFill(temp3, temp2[0], temp2[1], temp2[2], temp1[0], temp1[1], temp1[2]); } private static String[] dateFill(String[] date, String hours, String minutes, String ampm, String month, String day, String year) { date[0] = month; date[1] = day; date[2] = year; date[3] = hours; date[4] = minutes; date[5] = ampm; return date; } private String dateString(String[] date) { //return month+" "+day+", "+year+" "+hours+":"+minutes+" "+ampm //5/21/2010 10:00 AM return date[3]+"/"+date[4]+"/ "+date[5]+" "+date[0]+":"+date[1]+" "+date[2]; } }

  • LXC Container Networking

    - by digitaladdictions
    I just started to experiment with LXC containers. I was able to create a container and start it up but I cannot get dhcp to assign the container an IP address. If I assign a static address the container can ping the host IP but not outside the host IP. The host is CentOS 6.5 and the guest is Ubuntu 14.04LTS. I used the template downloaded by lxc-create -t download -n cn-01 command. If I am trying to get an IP address on the same subnet as the host I don't believe I should need the IP tables rule for masquerading but I added it anyways. Same with IP forwarding. I compiled LXC by hand from the following source https://linuxcontainers.org/downloads/lxc-1.0.4.tar.gz Host Operating System Version #> cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS release 6.5 (Final) #> uname -a Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.32-431.20.3.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Jun 19 21:14:45 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Container Config #> cat /usr/local/var/lib/lxc/cn-01/config # Template used to create this container: /usr/local/share/lxc/templates/lxc-download # Parameters passed to the template: # For additional config options, please look at lxc.container.conf(5) # Distribution configuration lxc.include = /usr/local/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf lxc.arch = x86_64 # Container specific configuration lxc.rootfs = /usr/local/var/lib/lxc/cn-01/rootfs lxc.utsname = cn-01 # Network configuration lxc.network.type = veth lxc.network.flags = up lxc.network.link = br0 LXC default.confu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP qlen 1000 link/ether 00:0c:29:12:30:f2 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:f #> cat /usr/local/etc/lxc/default.conf lxc.network.type = veth lxc.network.link = br0 lxc.network.flags = up #> lxc-checkconfig Kernel configuration not found at /proc/config.gz; searching... • Unable to list contents/remove directory (linux ext3)

    - by RedKrieg
    System is CentOS5 x86_64, completely up to date. I've got a folder that can't be listed (ls just hangs, eating memory until it is killed). The directory size is nearly 500k: root@server [/home/user/public_html/domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03]# stat . File: `.' Size: 458752 Blocks: 904 IO Block: 4096 directory Device: 812h/2066d Inode: 44499071 Links: 2 Access: (0755/drwxr-xr-x) Uid: ( 3292/ user) Gid: ( 3287/ user) Access: 2012-06-29 17:31:47.000000000 -0400 Modify: 2012-10-23 14:41:58.000000000 -0400 Change: 2012-10-23 14:41:58.000000000 -0400 I can see the file names if I use ls -1f, but it just repeats the same 48 files ad infinitum, all of which have non-ascii characters somewhere in the file name: La-critic\363-al-servicio-la-privacidad-300x160.jpg When I try to access the files (say to copy them or remove them) I get messages like the following: lstat("/home/user/public_html/domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Sebast\355an-Pi\361era-el-balc\363n-150x120.jpg", 0x7fff364c52c0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) I tried altering the code found on this man page and modified the code to call unlink for each file. I get the same ENOENT error from the unlink call: unlink("/home/user/public_html/domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Marca-naci\363n-Madrid-150x120.jpg") = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) I also straced a "touch", grabbed the syscalls it makes and replicated them, then tried to unlink the resulting file by name. This works fine, but the folder still contains an entry by the same name after the operation completes and the program runs for an arbitrarily long time (strace output ended up at 20GB after 5 minutes and I stopped the process). I'm stumped on this one, I'd really prefer not to have to take this production machine (hundreds of customers) offline to fsck the filesystem, but I'm leaning toward that being the only option at this point. If anyone's had success using other methods for removing files (by inode number, I can get those with the getdents code) I'd love to hear them. (Yes, I've tried find . -inum <inode> -exec rm -fv {} \; and it still has the problem with unlink returning ENOENT) For those interested, here's the diff between that man page's code and mine. I didn't bother with error checking on mallocs, etc because I'm lazy and this is a one-off: root@server [~]# diff -u listdir-orig.c listdir.c --- listdir-orig.c 2012-10-23 15:10:02.000000000 -0400 +++ listdir.c 2012-10-23 14:59:47.000000000 -0400 @@ -6,6 +6,7 @@ #include <stdlib.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <sys/syscall.h> +#include <string.h> #define handle_error(msg) \ do { perror(msg); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } while (0) @@ -17,7 +18,7 @@ char d_name[]; }; -#define BUF_SIZE 1024 +#define BUF_SIZE 1024*1024*5 int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { @@ -26,11 +27,16 @@ struct linux_dirent *d; int bpos; char d_type; + int deleted; + int file_descriptor; fd = open(argc > 1 ? argv[1] : ".", O_RDONLY | O_DIRECTORY); if (fd == -1) handle_error("open"); + char* full_path; + char* fd_path; + for ( ; ; ) { nread = syscall(SYS_getdents, fd, buf, BUF_SIZE); if (nread == -1) @@ -55,7 +61,24 @@ printf("%4d %10lld %s\n", d->d_reclen, (long long) d->d_off, (char *) d->d_name); bpos += d->d_reclen; + if ( d_type == DT_REG ) + { + full_path = malloc(strlen((char *) d->d_name) + strlen(argv[1]) + 2); //One for the /, one for the \0 + strcpy(full_path, argv[1]); + strcat(full_path, (char *) d->d_name); + + //We're going to try to "touch" the file. + //file_descriptor = open(full_path, O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_NOCTTY|O_NONBLOCK, 0666); + //fd_path = malloc(32); //Lazy, only really needs 16 + //sprintf(fd_path, "/proc/self/fd/%d", file_descriptor); + //utimes(fd_path, NULL); + //close(file_descriptor); + deleted = unlink(full_path); + if ( deleted == -1 ) printf("Error unlinking file\n"); + break; //Break on first try + } } + break; //Break on first try } exit(EXIT_SUCCESS);

  • Can't get Jacobi algorithm to work in Objective-C

    - by Chris Long
    Hi, For some reason, I can't get this program to work. I've had other CS majors look at it and they can't figure it out either. This program performs the Jacobi algorithm (you can see step-by-step instructions and a MATLAB implementation here). BTW, it's different from the Wikipedia article of the same name. Since NSArray is one-dimensional, I added a method that makes it act like a two-dimensional C array. After running the Jacobi algorithm many times, the diagonal entries in the NSArray (i[0][0], i[1][1], etc.) are supposed to get bigger and the others approach 0. For some reason though, they all increase exponentially. For instance, i[2][4] should equal 0.0000009, not 9999999, while i[2][2] should be big. Thanks in advance, Chris NSArray+Matrix.m @implementation NSArray (Matrix) @dynamic offValue, transposed; - (double)offValue { double sum = 0.0; for ( MatrixItem *item in self ) if ( item.nonDiagonal ) sum += pow( item.value, 2.0 ); return sum; } - (NSMutableArray *)transposed { NSMutableArray *transpose = [[[NSMutableArray alloc] init] autorelease]; int i, j; for ( i = 0; i < 5; i++ ) { for ( j = 0; j < 5; j++ ) { [transpose addObject:[self objectAtRow:j andColumn:i]]; } } return transpose; } - (id)objectAtRow:(NSUInteger)row andColumn:(NSUInteger)column { NSUInteger index = 5 * row + column; return [self objectAtIndex:index]; } - (NSMutableArray *)multiplyWithMatrix:(NSArray *)array { NSMutableArray *result = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; int i = 0, j = 0, k = 0; double value; for ( i = 0; i < 5; i++ ) { value = 0.0; for ( j = 0; j < 5; j++ ) { for ( k = 0; k < 5; k++ ) { MatrixItem *firstItem = [self objectAtRow:i andColumn:k]; MatrixItem *secondItem = [array objectAtRow:k andColumn:j]; value += firstItem.value * secondItem.value; } MatrixItem *item = [[MatrixItem alloc] initWithValue:value]; item.row = i; item.column = j; [result addObject:item]; } } return result; } @end Jacobi_AlgorithmAppDelegate.m // ... - (void)jacobiAlgorithmWithEntry:(MatrixItem *)entry { MatrixItem *b11 = [matrix objectAtRow:entry.row andColumn:entry.row]; MatrixItem *b22 = [matrix objectAtRow:entry.column andColumn:entry.column]; double muPlus = ( b22.value + b11.value ) / 2.0; muPlus += sqrt( pow((b22.value - b11.value), 2.0) + 4.0 * pow(entry.value, 2.0) ); Vector *u1 = [[[Vector alloc] initWithX:(-1.0 * entry.value) andY:(b11.value - muPlus)] autorelease]; [u1 normalize]; Vector *u2 = [[[Vector alloc] initWithX:-u1.y andY:u1.x] autorelease]; NSMutableArray *g = [[[NSMutableArray alloc] init] autorelease]; for ( int i = 0; i <= 24; i++ ) { MatrixItem *item = [[[MatrixItem alloc] init] autorelease]; if ( i == 6*entry.row ) item.value = u1.x; else if ( i == 6*entry.column ) item.value = u2.y; else if ( i == ( 5*entry.row + entry.column ) || i == ( 5*entry.column + entry.row ) ) item.value = u1.y; else if ( i % 6 == 0 ) item.value = 1.0; else item.value = 0.0; [g addObject:item]; } NSMutableArray *firstResult = [[g.transposed multiplyWithMatrix:matrix] autorelease]; matrix = [firstResult multiplyWithMatrix:g]; } // ...

  • Accessing mySQL from two ports: Problems with iptables

    - by marekventur
    Hi! I'm trying to make my mySQL-server (running on Ubuntu) listen on port 3306 and 110, because I would like to access it from a network with very few open ports. So far I've found this answer telling me to do iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 110 -j REDIRECT --to-port 3306 but all I got is: # mysql -h mydomain.com -P 3306 -u username --password=xyz Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. Your MySQL connection id is 68863 Server version: 5.0.75-0ubuntu10.5 (Ubuntu) Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. • ASA 5540 v8.4(3) vpn to ASA 5505 v8.2(5), tunnel up but I cant ping from 5505 to IP on other side

    - by user223833
    I am having problems pinging from a 5505(remote) to IP 10.160.70.10 in the network behind the 5540(HQ side). 5505 inside IP: 10.56.0.1 Out: 71.43.109.226 5540 Inside: 10.1.0.8 out: 64.129.214.27 I Can ping from 5540 to 5505 inside 10.56.0.1. I also ran ASDM packet tracer in both directions, it is ok from 5540 to 5505, but drops the packet from 5505 to 5540. It gets through the ACL and dies at the NAT. Here is the 5505 config, I am sure it is something simple I am missing. • Why is there a Null Pointer Exception in this Java Code?

    - by algorithmicCoder
    This code takes in users and movies from two separate files and computes a user score for a movie. When i run the code I get the following error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at RecommenderSystem.makeRecommendation(RecommenderSystem.java:75) at RecommenderSystem.main(RecommenderSystem.java:24) I believe the null pointer exception is due to an error in this particular class but I can't spot it....any thoughts? import java.io.*; import java.lang.Math; public class RecommenderSystem { private Movie[] m_movies; private User[] m_users; /** Parse the movies and users files, and then run queries against them. */ public static void main(String[] argv) throws FileNotFoundException, ParseError, RecommendationError { FileReader movies_fr = new FileReader("C:\\workspace\\Recommender\\src\\IMDBTop10.txt"); FileReader users_fr = new FileReader("C:\\workspace\\Recommender\\src\\IMDBTop10-users.txt"); MovieParser mp = new MovieParser(movies_fr); UserParser up = new UserParser(users_fr); Movie[] movies = mp.getMovies(); User[] users = up.getUsers(); RecommenderSystem rs = new RecommenderSystem(movies, users); System.out.println("Alice would rate \"The Shawshank Redemption\" with at least a " + rs.makeRecommendation("The Shawshank Redemption", "asmith")); System.out.println("Carol would rate \"The Dark Knight\" with at least a " + rs.makeRecommendation("The Dark Knight", "cd0")); } /** Instantiate a recommender system. * * @param movies An array of Movie that will be copied into m_movies. * @param users An array of User that will be copied into m_users. */ public RecommenderSystem(Movie[] movies, User[] users) throws RecommendationError { m_movies = movies; m_users = users; } /** Suggest what the user with "username" would rate "movieTitle". * * @param movieTitle The movie for which a recommendation is made. * @param username The user for whom the recommendation is made. */ public double makeRecommendation(String movieTitle, String username) throws RecommendationError { int userNumber; int movieNumber; int j=0; double weightAvNum =0; double weightAvDen=0; for (userNumber = 0; userNumber < m_users.length; ++userNumber) { if (m_users[userNumber].getUsername().equals(username)) { break; } } for (movieNumber = 0; movieNumber < m_movies.length; ++movieNumber) { if (m_movies[movieNumber].getTitle().equals(movieTitle)) { break; } } // Use the weighted average algorithm here (don't forget to check for // errors). while(j<m_users.length){ if(j!=userNumber){ weightAvNum = weightAvNum + (m_users[j].getRating(movieNumber)- m_users[j].getAverageRating())*(m_users[userNumber].similarityTo(m_users[j])); weightAvDen = weightAvDen + (m_users[userNumber].similarityTo(m_users[j])); } j++; } return (m_users[userNumber].getAverageRating()+ (weightAvNum/weightAvDen)); } } class RecommendationError extends Exception { /** An error for when something goes wrong in the recommendation process. * * @param s A string describing the error. */ public RecommendationError(String s) { super(s); } }

  • CRM 2011 Plugin for CREATE (post-operational): Why is the value of "baseamount" zero in post entity image and target?

    - by Olli
    REFORMULATED QUESTION (Apr 24): I am using the CRM Developer Toolkit for VS2012 to create a CRM2011 plugin. The plugin is registered for the CREATE message of the "Invoice Product" entity. Pipeline-Stage is post-operational, execution is synchronous. I register for a post image that contains baseamount. The toolkit creates an execute function that looks like this: protected void ExecutePostInvoiceProductCreate(LocalPluginContext localContext) { if (localContext == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("localContext"); } IPluginExecutionContext context = localContext.PluginExecutionContext; Entity postImageEntity = (context.PostEntityImages != null && context.PostEntityImages.Contains(this.postImageAlias)) ? context.PostEntityImages[this.postImageAlias] : null; } Since we are in post operational stage, the value of baseamount in postImageEntity should already be calculated from the user input, right? However, the value of baseamountin the postImageEntity is zero. The same holds true for the value of baseamount in the target entity that I get using the following code: Entity targetEntity = (context.InputParameters != null && context.InputParameters.Contains("Target")) ? (Entity)context.InputParameters["Target"] : null; Using a retrieve request like the one below, I am getting the correct value of baseamount: Entity newlyCreated = service.Retrieve("invoicedetail", targetEntity.Id, new ColumnSet(true)); decimal baseAmount = newlyCreated.GetAttributeValue<Money>("baseamount").Value; The issue does not appear in post operational stage of an update event. I'd be glad to hear your ideas/explanations/suggestions on why this is the case... (Further information: Remote debugging, no isolation mode, plugin stored in database) Original Question: I am working on a plugin for CRM 2011 that is supposed to calculate the amount of tax to be paid when an invoice detail is created. To this end I am trying to get the baseamount of the newly created invoicedetail entity from the post entity image in post operational stage. As far as I understood it, the post entity image is a snapshot of the entity in the database after the new invoice detail has been created. Thus it should contain all properties of the newly created invoice detail. I am getting a "postentityimages" property of the IPluginExecutionContext that contains an entity with the alias I registered ("postImage"). This "postImage" entity contains a key for "baseamount" but its value is 0. Can anybody help me understand why this is the case and what I can do about it? (I also noticed that the postImage does not contain all but only a subset of the entities I registered for.) Here is what the code looks like: protected void ExecutePostInvoiceProductCreate(LocalPluginContext localContext) { if (localContext == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("localContext"); } // Get PluginExecutionContext to obtain PostEntityImages IPluginExecutionContext context = localContext.PluginExecutionContext; // This works: I get a postImage that is not null. Entity postImage = (context.PostEntityImages != null && context.PostEntityImages.Contains(this.postImageAlias)) ? context.PostEntityImages[this.postImageAlias] : null; // Here is the problem: There is a "baseamount" key in the postImage // but its value is zero! decimal baseAmount = ((Money)postImage["baseamount"]).Value; } ADDITION: Pre and post images for post operational update contain non-zero values for baseamount.

  • output image is not displayed

    - by gerry chocolatos
    so, im doing an image detection which i have to process on each red, green, n blue element to get the edge map and combine them become one to show the output. but it doesnt show my output image would anyone pls be kind enough to help me? here is my code so far. //get the red element process_red = new int[width * height]; counter = 0; for(int i = 0; i < 256; i++) { for(int j = 0; j < 256; j++) { int clr = buff_red.getRGB(j, i); int red = (clr & 0x00ff0000) >> 16; red = (0xFF<<24)|(red<<16)|(red<<8)|red; process_red[counter] = red; counter++; } } //set threshold value for red element int threshold = 100; for (int x = 0; x < width; x++) { for (int y = 0; y < height; y++) { int bin = (buff_red.getRGB(x, y) & 0x000000ff); if (bin < threshold) bin = 0; else bin = 255; buff_red.setRGB(x,y, 0xff000000 | bin << 16 | bin << 8 | bin); } } and i do the same way for my green n blue elements. and then i wanted to get to combination of the three by doing it this way: //combine the three elements process_combine = new int[width * height]; counter = 0; for(int i = 0; i < 256; i++) { for(int j = 0; j < 256; j++) { int clr_a = buff_red.getRGB(j, i); int ar = clr_a & 0x000000ff; int clr_b = buff_green.getRGB(j, i); int bg = clr_b & 0x000000ff; int clr_c = buff_blue.getRGB(j, i); int cb = clr_b & 0x000000ff; int alpha = 0xff000000; int combine = alpha|(ar<<16)|(bg<<8)|cb; process_combine[counter] = combine; counter++; } } buff_rgb = new BufferedImage(width,height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB); Graphics rgb; rgb = buff_rgb.getGraphics(); rgb.drawImage(output_rgb, 0, 0, null); rgb.dispose(); repaint(); and to show the output whic is from the combining process, i use a draw method: g.drawImage(buff_rgb,800,100,this); but still it doesnt show the image. can anyone pls help me? ur help is really appreciated. thanks.

  • Delphi: EReadError with message ‘Property PageNr does Not Exist’.

    - by lyborko
    Hi, I get SOMETIMES error message: EReadError with message 'Property PageNr does Not exist', when I try to run my own project. I am really desperate, because I see simply nothing what is the cause. The devilish is that it comes up sometimes but often. It concerns of my own component TPage. Here is declaration TPage = class(TCustomControl) // private FPaperHeight, FPaperWidth:Integer; FPaperBrush:TBrush; FPaperSize:TPaperSize; FPaperOrientation:TPaperOrientation; FPDFDocument: TPDFDocument; FPageNr:integer; procedure PaintBasicLayout; procedure PaintInterior; procedure SetPapersize(Value: TPapersize); procedure SetPaperHeight(Value: Integer); procedure SetPaperWidth(Value: Integer); procedure SetPaperOrientation(value:TPaperOrientation); procedure SetPaperBrush(Value:TBrush); procedure SetPageNr(Value:Integer); protected procedure CreateParams(var Params:TCreateParams); override; procedure AdjustClientRect(var Rect: TRect); override; public constructor Create(AOwner: TComponent);override; destructor Destroy;override; // function GetChildOwner:TComponent; override; procedure DrawControl(X,Y :integer; Dx,Dy:Double; Ctrl:TControl;NewCanvas:TCanvas); // procedure GetChildren(Proc:TGetChildProc; Root:TComponent); override; procedure Loaded; override; procedure MouseDown(Button: TMouseButton; Shift: TShiftState; X, Y: Integer); override; procedure Paint; override; procedure PrintOnCanvas(X,Y:integer; rX,rY:Double; ACanvas:TCanvas); procedure PrintOnPDFCanvas(X,Y:integer); procedure PrintOnPrinterCanvas(X,Y:integer); procedure Resize; override; procedure SetPrintKind(APrintKind:TPrintKind; APrintGroupindex:Integer); published property PageNr:integer read FPageNr write SetPageNr; property PaperBrush: TBrush read FPaperBrush write SetPaperBrush; property PaperHeight: integer read FPaperHeight write SetPaperHeight; property PaperWidth: integer read FPaperWidth write SetPaperWidth; property PaperSize: TPaperSize read FPaperSize write SetPaperSize; property PaperOrientation:TPaperOrientation read FPaperOrientation write SetPaperOrientation; property PDFDocument:TPDFDocument read FPDFDocument write FPDFDocument; property TabOrder; end; I thoroughly read the similar topic depicted here: Delphi: EReadError with message 'Property Persistence does Not exist' But here it is my own source code. No third party. Interesting: when I delete PageNr property in my dfm file (unit1.dfm), then pops up : EReadError with message 'Property PaperHeight does Not exist'. when I delete PaperHeight then it will claim PaperWidth and so on... Here is piece of dfm file: object pg1: TPage Left = 128 Top = 144 Width = 798 Height = 1127 PageNr = 0 PaperHeight = 1123 PaperWidth = 794 PaperSize = psA4 PaperOrientation = poPortrait TabOrder = 0 object bscshp4: TBasicShape Left = 112 Top = 64 Width = 105 Height = 105 PrintKind = pkNormal PrintGroupIndex = 0 Zooming = 100 Transparent = False Repeating = False PageRepeatOffset = 1 ShapeStyle = ssVertical LinePosition = 2 end object bscshp5: TBasicShape Left = 288 Top = 24 Width = 105 Height = 105 PrintKind = pkNormal PrintGroupIndex = 0 Zooming = 100 Transparent = False What the hell happens ??????? I have never seen that. I compiled the unit several times... Encoutered no problem. Maybe the cause is beyond this. I feel completely powerless.

  • Having different database sorting order (default_scope) for two different views

    - by Juniper747
    In my model (pins.rb), I have two sorting orders: default_scope order: 'pins.featured DESC' #for adding featured posts to the top of a list default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' #for adding the remaining posts beneath the featured posts This sorting order (above) is how I want my 'pins view' (index.html.erb) to look. Which is just a list of ALL user posts. In my 'users view' (show.html.erb) I am using the same model (pins.rb) to list only current_user pins. HOWEVER, I want to sorting order to ignore the "featured" default scope and only use the second scope: default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' How can I accomplish this? I tried doing something like this: default_scope order: 'pins.featured DESC', only: :index default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' But that didn't fly... UPDATE I updated my model to define a scope: scope :featy, order: 'pins.featured DESC' default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' And updated my pins view to: <%= render @pins.featy %> However, now when I open my pins view, I get the error: undefined method `featy' for #<Array:0x00000100ddbc78> UPDATE 2 User.rb class User < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :name, :email, :username, :password, :password_confirmation, :avatar, :password_reset_token, :password_reset_sent_at has_secure_password has_many :pins, dependent: :destroy #destroys user posts when user is destroyed # has_many :featured_pins, order: 'featured DESC', class_name: "Pin", source: :pin has_attached_file :avatar, :styles => { :medium => "300x300#", :thumb => "120x120#" } before_save { |user| user.email = user.email.downcase } before_save { |user| user.username = user.username.downcase } before_save :create_remember_token before_save :capitalize_name validates :name, presence: true, length: { maximum: 50 } VALID_EMAIL_REGEX = /\A[\w+\-.]+@[a-z\d\-.]+\.[a-z]+\z/i VALID_USERNAME_REGEX = /^[A-Za-z0-9]+(?:[_][A-Za-z0-9]+)*$/ validates :email, presence: true, format: { with: VALID_EMAIL_REGEX }, uniqueness: { case_sensitive: false } validates :username, presence: true, format: { with: VALID_USERNAME_REGEX }, uniqueness: { case_sensitive: false } validates :password, length: { minimum: 6 }, on: :create #on create, because was causing erros on pw_reset Pin.rb class Pin < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :content, :title, :privacy, :date, :dark, :bright, :fragmented, :hashtag, :emotion, :user_id, :imagesource, :imageowner, :featured belongs_to :user before_save :capitalize_title before_validation :generate_slug validates :content, presence: true, length: { maximum: 8000 } validates :title, presence: true, length: { maximum: 24 } validates :imagesource, presence: { message: "Please search and choose an image" }, length: { maximum: 255 } validates_inclusion_of :privacy, :in => [true, false] validates :slug, uniqueness: true, presence: true, exclusion: {in: %w[signup signin signout home info privacy]} # for sorting featured and newest posts first default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' scope :featured_order, order: 'pins.featured DESC' def to_param slug # or "#{id}-#{name}".parameterize end def generate_slug # makes the url slug address bar freindly self.slug ||= loop do random_token = Digest::MD5.hexdigest(Time.zone.now.to_s + title)[0..9]+"-"+"#{title}".parameterize break random_token unless Pin.where(slug: random_token).exists? end end protected def capitalize_title self.title = title.split.map(&:capitalize).join(' ') end end users_controller.rb class UsersController < ApplicationController before_filter :signed_in_user, only: [:edit, :update, :show] before_filter :correct_user, only: [:edit, :update, :show] before_filter :admin_user, only: :destroy def index if !current_user.admin? redirect_to root_path end end def menu @user = current_user end def show @user = User.find(params[:id]) @pins = @user.pins current_user.touch(:last_log_in) #sets the last log in time if [email protected]? render 'pages/info/' end end def new @user = User.new end pins_controller.rb class PinsController < ApplicationController before_filter :signed_in_user, except: [:show] # GET /pins, GET /pins.json def index #Live Feed @pins = Pin.all @featured_pins = Pin.featured_order respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.json { render json: @pins } end end # GET /pins, GET /pins.json def show #single Pin View @pin = Pin.find_by_slug!(params[:id]) require 'uri' #this gets the photo's id from the stored uri @image_id = URI(@pin.imagesource).path.split('/').second if @pin.privacy == true #check for private pins if signed_in? if @pin.user_id == current_user.id respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.json { render json: @pin } end else redirect_to home_path, notice: "Prohibited 1" end else redirect_to home_path, notice: "Prohibited 2" end else respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.json { render json: @pin } end end end # GET /pins, GET /pins.json def new @pin = current_user.pins.new respond_to do |format| format.html # new.html.erb format.json { render json: @pin } end end # GET /pins/1/edit def edit @pin = current_user.pins.find_by_slug!(params[:id]) end Finally, on my index.html.erb I have: <%= render @featured_pins %>

  • Why does my ping command (Windows) results alternate between "timeout" and "network is not reachable"?

    - by Sopalajo de Arrierez
    My Windows is in Spanish, so I will have to paste console outputs in that language (I think that translating without knowing the exact terms used in english versions could give worse results than leaving it as it appears on screen). This is the issue: when pinging a non-existent IP from a WinXP-SP3 machine (clean Windows install, just formatted), I get sometimes a "Timeout" result, and sometimes a "network is not reachable" message. This is the result of: ping 192.168.210.1 Haciendo ping a 192.168.210.1 con 32 bytes de datos: Tiempo de espera agotado para esta solicitud. Respuesta desde 80.58.67.86: Red de destino inaccesible. I have some Linux (Debian/Kali) machine in my network, so I tested things on it: ping 192.168.210.1 PING 192.168.210.1 (192.168.210.1) 56(84) bytes of data. I am posing this question mainly for learning purposes, but there is another reason: when all pings are returning "timeout", it creates an %ERRORLEVEL% value of 1, but if there is someone of "Network is not reachable" type, %ERRORLEVEL% goes to 0 (no error), and this could be inappropriate for a shell script (we can not use ping to detect, for example, if the network is down due to loss of contact with the gateway).

  • Override `drop` for a custom sequence

    - by Bruno Reis
    In short: in Clojure, is there a way to redefine a function from the standard sequence API (which is not defined on any interface like ISeq, IndexedSeq, etc) on a custom sequence type I wrote? 1. Huge data files I have big files in the following format: A long (8 bytes) containing the number n of entries n entries, each one being composed of 3 longs (ie, 24 bytes) 2. Custom sequence I want to have a sequence on these entries. Since I cannot usually hold all the data in memory at once, and I want fast sequential access on it, I wrote a class similar to the following: (deftype DataSeq [id ^long cnt ^long i cached-seq] clojure.lang.IndexedSeq (index [_] i) (count [_] (- cnt i)) (seq [this] this) (first [_] (first cached-seq)) (more [this] (if-let [s (next this)] s '())) (next [_] (if (not= (inc i) cnt) (if (next cached-seq) (DataSeq. id cnt (inc i) (next cached-seq)) (DataSeq. id cnt (inc i) (with-open [f (open-data-file id)] ; open a memory mapped byte array on the file ; seek to the exact position to begin reading ; decide on an optimal amount of data to read ; eagerly read and return that amount of data )))))) The main idea is to read ahead a bunch of entries in a list and then consume from that list. Whenever the cache is completely consumed, if there are remaining entries, they are read from the file in a new cache list. Simple as that. To create an instance of such a sequence, I use a very simple function like: (defn ^DataSeq load-data [id] (next (DataSeq. id (count-entries id) -1 []))) ; count-entries is a trivial "open file and read a long" memoized As you can see, the format of the data allowed me to implement count in very simply and efficiently. 3. drop could be O(1) In the same spirit, I'd like to reimplement drop. The format of these data files allows me to reimplement drop in O(1) (instead of the standard O(n)), as follows: if dropping less then the remaining cached items, just drop the same amount from the cache and done; if dropping more than cnt, then just return the empty list. otherwise, just figure out the position in the data file, jump right into that position, and read data from there. My difficulty is that drop is not implemented in the same way as count, first, seq, etc. The latter functions call a similarly named static method in RT which, in turn, calls my implementation above, while the former, drop, does not check if the instance of the sequence it is being called on provides a custom implementation. Obviously, I could provide a function named anything but drop that does exactly what I want, but that would force other people (including my future self) to remember to use it instead of drop every single time, which sucks. So, the question is: is it possible to override the default behaviour of drop? 4. A workaround (I dislike) While writing this question, I've just figured out a possible workaround: make the reading even lazier. The custom sequence would just keep an index and postpone the reading operation, that would happen only when first was called. The problem is that I'd need some mutable state: the first call to first would cause some data to be read into a cache, all the subsequent calls would return data from this cache. There would be a similar logic on next: if there's a cache, just next it; otherwise, don't bother populating it -- it will be done when first is called again. This would avoid unnecessary disk reads. However, this is still less than optimal -- it is still O(n), and it could easily be O(1). Anyways, I don't like this workaround, and my question is still open. Any thoughts? Thanks.

  • Generating 2-dimensional vla ends in segmentation fault

    - by Framester
    Hi, further developing the code from yesterday (seg fault caused by malloc and sscanf in a function), I tried with the help of some tutorials I found on the net to generate a 2-dim vla. But I get a segmentation fault at (*data)[i][j]=atof(p);. The program is supposed to read a matrix out of a text file and load it into a 2d array (cols 1-9) and a 1D array (col 10) [Example code] #include<stdio.h> #include<stdlib.h> #include<math.h> #include<string.h> const int LENGTH = 1024; void read_data(float ***data, int **classes, int *nrow,int *ncol, char *filename){ FILE *pfile = NULL; char line[LENGTH]; if(!( pfile=fopen(filename,"r"))){ printf("Error opening %s.", filename); exit(1); } int numlines=0; int numcols=0; char *p; fgets(line,LENGTH,pfile); p = strtok (line," "); while (p != NULL){ p = strtok (NULL, ", "); numcols++; } while(fgets(line,LENGTH,pfile)){ numlines++; } rewind(pfile); int numfeats=numcols-1; *data=(float**) malloc(numlines*sizeof(float*)); *classes=(int *)malloc(numlines*sizeof(int)); if(*classes == NULL){ printf("\nOut of memory."); exit(1); } int i=0; while(fgets(line,LENGTH,pfile)){ p = strtok (line," "); for(int j=0;j<numfeats;j++) { (data)[i]=malloc(numfeats*sizeof(float)); printf("%i ",i); (*data)[i][j]=atof(p); p = strtok (NULL, ", "); } (*classes)[i]=atoi(p); i++; } fclose(pfile); *nrow=numlines; *ncol=numfeats; } int main() { char *filename="somedatafile.txt"; float **data2; int *classes2; int r,c; read_data(&data2,&classes2, &r, &c,filename) ; for(int i=0;i<r;i++){ printf("\n"); for(int j=0;j<c;j++){ printf("%f",data2[i][j]); } } return 1; } [Content of somedatafile.txt] 50 21 77 0 28 0 27 48 22 2 55 0 92 0 0 26 36 92 56 4 53 0 82 0 52 -5 29 30 2 1 37 0 76 0 28 18 40 48 8 1 37 0 79 0 34 -26 43 46 2 1 85 0 88 -4 6 1 3 83 80 5 56 0 81 0 -4 11 25 86 62 4 55 -1 95 -3 54 -4 40 41 2 1 53 8 77 0 28 0 23 48 24 4 37 0 101 -7 28 0 64 73 8 1 ...

  • the size of apt-get update lists is too big

    - by dumb906
    I ran a clean install to Ubuntu 12.04 and so far everything has been working well. I especially commend the Ubuntu team for this release. I only noticed that the size of repository update is now about ~13MB. Normally, it is about this size for the first time you run apt-get update after a clean install and then ~ 23kb - 1300kb for subsequent updates. The output from apt-get update is the same I get for previous versions of Ubuntu (its pretty normal). Its a bit too long but look at an example output I got from running apt-get update. • Processing Email in Outlook

    - by Daniel Moth
    A. Why Goal 1 = Help others: Have at most a 24-hour response turnaround to internal (from colleague) emails, typically achieving same day response. Goal 2 = Help projects: Not to implicitly pass/miss an opportunity to have impact on electronic discussions around any project on the radar. Not achieving goals 1 & 2 = Colleagues stop relying on you, drop you off conversations, don't see you as a contributing resource or someone that cares, you are perceived as someone with no peripheral vision. Note this is perfect if all you are doing is cruising at your job, trying to fly under the radar, with no ambitions of having impact beyond your absolute minimum 'day job'. B. DON'T: Leave unread email lurking around Don't: Receive or process all incoming emails in a single folder ('inbox' or 'unread mail'). This is actually possible if you receive a small number of emails (e.g. new to the job, not working at a company like Microsoft). Even so, with (your future) success at any level (company, community) comes large incoming email, so learn to deal with it. With large volumes, it is best to let the system help you by doing some categorization and filtering on your behalf (instead of trying to do that in your head as you process the single folder). See later section on how to achieve this. Don't: Leave emails as 'unread' (or worse: read them, then mark them as unread). Often done by individuals who think they possess super powers ("I can mentally cache and distinguish between the emails I chose not to read, the ones that are actually new, and the ones I decided to revisit in the future; the fact that they all show up the same (bold = unread) does not confuse me"). Interactions with this super-powered individuals typically end up with them saying stuff like "I must have missed that email you are talking about (from 2 weeks ago)" or "I am a bit behind, so I haven't read your email, can you remind me". TIP: The only place where you are "allowed" unread email is in your Deleted Items folder. Don't: Interpret a read email as an email that has been processed. Doing that, means you will always end up with fake unread email (that you have actually read, but haven't dealt with completely so you then marked it as unread) lurking between actual unread email. Another side effect is reading the email and making a 'mental' note to action it, then leaving the email as read, so the only thing left to remind you to carry out the action is… you. You are not super human, you will forget. This is a key distinction. Reading (or even scanning) a new email, means you now know what needs to be done with it, in order for it to be truly considered processed. Truly processing an email is to, for example, write an email of your own (e.g. to reply or forward), or take a non-email related action (e.g. create calendar entry, do something on some website), or read it carefully to gain some knowledge (e.g. it had a spec as an attachment), or keep it around as reference etc. 'Reading' means that you know what to do, not that you have done it. An email that is read is an email that is triaged, not an email that is resolved. Sometimes the thing that needs to be done based on receiving the email, you can (and want) to do immediately after reading the email. That is fine, you read the email and you processed it (typically when it takes no longer than X minutes, where X is your personal tolerance – mine is roughly 2 minutes). Other times, you decide that you don't want to spend X minutes at that moment, so after reading the email you need a quick system for "marking" the email as to be processed later (and you still leave it as 'read' in outlook). See later section for how. C. DO: Use Outlook rules and have multiple folders where incoming email is automatically moved to Outlook email rules are very powerful and easy to configure. Use them to automatically file email into folders. Here are mine (note that if a rule catches an email message then no further rules get processed): "personal" Email is either personal or business related. Almost all personal email goes to my gmail account. The personal emails that end up on my work email account, go to a dedicated folder – that is achieved via a rule that looks at the email's 'From' field. For those that slip through, I use the new Outlook 2010  quick step of "Conversation To Folder" feature to let the slippage only occur once per conversation, and then update my rules. "External" and "ViaBlog" The remaining external emails either come from my blog (rule on the subject line) or are unsolicited (rule on the domain name not being microsoft) and they are filed accordingly. "invites" I may do a separate blog post on calendar management, but suffice to say it should be kept up to date. All invite requests end up in this folder, so that even if mail gets out of control, the calendar can stay under control (only 1 folder to check). I.e. so I can let the organizer know why I won't be attending their meeting (or that I will be). Note: This folder is the only one that shows the total number of items in it, instead of the total unread. "Inbox" The only email that ends up here is email sent TO me and me only. Note that this is also the only email that shows up above the systray icon in the notification toast – all other emails cannot interrupt. "ToMe++" Email where I am on the TO line, but there are other recipients as well (on the TO or CC line). "CC" Email where I am on the CC line. I need to read these, but nobody is expecting a response or action from me so they are not as urgent (and if they are and follow up with me, they'll receive a link to this). "@ XYZ" Emails to aliases that are about projects that I directly work on (and I wasn't on the TO or CC line, of course). Test: these projects are in my commitments that I get measured on at the end of the year. "Z Mass" and subfolders under it per distribution list (DL) Emails to aliases that are about topics that I am interested in, but not that I formally own/contribute to. Test: if I unsubscribed from these aliases, nobody could rightfully complain. "Admin" folder, which resides under "Z Mass" folder Emails to aliases that I was added typically by an admin, e.g. broad emails to the floor/group/org/building/division/company that I am a member of. "BCC" folder, which resides under "Z Mass" Emails where I was not on the TO or the CC line explicitly and the alias it was sent to is not one I explicitly subscribed to (or I have been added to the BCC line, which I briefly touched on in another post). When there are only a few quick minutes to catch up on email, read as much as possible from these folders, in this order: Invites, Inbox, ToMe++. Only when these folders are all read (remember that doesn't mean that each email in them has been fully dealt with), we can move on to the @XYZ and then the CC folders. Only when those are read we can go on to the remaining folders. Note that the typical flow in the "Z Mass" subfolders is to scan subject lines and use the new Ctrl+Delete Outlook 2010 feature to ignore conversations. D. DO: Use Outlook Search folders in combination with categories As you process each folder, when you open a new email (i.e. click on it and read it in the preview pane) the email becomes read and stays read and you have to decide whether: It can take 2 minutes to deal with for good, right now, or It will take longer than 2 minutes, so it needs to be postponed with a clear next step, which is one of ToReply – there may be intermediate action steps, but ultimately someone else needs to receive email about this Action – no email is required, but I need to do something ReadLater – no email is required from the quick scan, but this is too long to fully read now, so it needs to be read it later WaitingFor – the email is informing of an intermediate status and 'promising' a future email update. Need to track. SomedayMaybe – interesting but not important, non-urgent, non-time-bound information. I may want to spend part of one of my weekends reading it. For all these 'next steps' use Outlook categories (right click on the email and assign category, or use shortcut key). Note that I also use category 'WaitingFor' for email that I send where I am expecting a response and need to track it. Create a new search folder for each category (I dragged the search folders into my favorites at the top left of Outlook, above my inboxes). So after the activity of reading/triaging email in the normal folders (where the email arrived) is done, the result is a bunch of emails appearing in the search folders (configure them to show the total items, not the total unread items). To actually process email (that takes more than 2 minutes to deal with) process the search folders, starting with ToReply and Action. E. DO: Get into a Routine Now you have a system in place, get into a routine of using it. Here is how I personally use mine, but this part I keep tweaking: Spend short bursts of time (between meetings, during boring but mandatory meetings and, in general, 2-4 times a day) aiming to have no unread emails (and in the process deal with some emails that take less than 2 minutes). Spend around 30 minutes at the end of each day processing most urgent items in search folders. Spend as long as it takes each Friday (or even the weekend) ensuring there is no unnecessary email baggage carried forward to the following week. F. Other resources Official Outlook help on: Create custom actions rules, Manage e-mail messages with rules, creating a search folder. Video on ignoring conversations (Ctrl+Del). Official blog post on Quick Steps and in particular the Move Conversation to folder. If you've read "Getting Things Done" it is very obvious that my approach to email management is driven by GTD. A very similar approach was described previously by ScottHa (also influenced by GTD), worth reading here. He also described how he sets up 2 outlook rules ('invites' and 'external') which I also use – worth reading that too. Comments about this post welcome at the original blog.

  • SignalR Auto Disconnect when Page Changed in AngularJS

    - by Shaun
    Originally posted on: http://geekswithblogs.net/shaunxu/archive/2014/05/30/signalr-auto-disconnect-when-page-changed-in-angularjs.aspxIf we are using SignalR, the connection lifecycle was handled by itself very well. For example when we connect to SignalR service from browser through SignalR JavaScript Client the connection will be established. And if we refresh the page, close the tab or browser, or navigate to another URL then the connection will be closed automatically. This information had been well documented here. In a browser, SignalR client code that maintains a SignalR connection runs in the JavaScript context of a web page. That's why the SignalR connection has to end when you navigate from one page to another, and that's why you have multiple connections with multiple connection IDs if you connect from multiple browser windows or tabs. When the user closes a browser window or tab, or navigates to a new page or refreshes the page, the SignalR connection immediately ends because SignalR client code handles that browser event for you and calls the "Stop" method. But unfortunately this behavior doesn't work if we are using SignalR with AngularJS. AngularJS is a single page application (SPA) framework created by Google. It hijacks browser's address change event, based on the route table user defined, launch proper view and controller. Hence in AngularJS we address was changed but the web page still there. All changes of the page content are triggered by Ajax. So there's no page unload and load events. This is the reason why SignalR cannot handle disconnect correctly when works with AngularJS. If we dig into the source code of SignalR JavaScript Client source code we will find something below. It monitors the browser page "unload" and "beforeunload" event and send the "stop" message to server to terminate connection. But in AngularJS page change events were hijacked, so SignalR will not receive them and will not stop the connection. 1: // wire the stop handler for when the user leaves the page 2: _pageWindow.bind("unload", function () { 3: connection.log("Window unloading, stopping the connection."); 4:  5: connection.stop(asyncAbort); 6: }); 7:  8: if (isFirefox11OrGreater) { 9: // Firefox does not fire cross-domain XHRs in the normal unload handler on tab close. 10: // #2400 11: _pageWindow.bind("beforeunload", function () { 12: // If connection.stop() runs runs in beforeunload and fails, it will also fail 13: // in unload unless connection.stop() runs after a timeout. 14: window.setTimeout(function () { 15: connection.stop(asyncAbort); 16: }, 0); 17: }); 18: }   Problem Reproduce In the codes below I created a very simple example to demonstrate this issue. Here is the SignalR server side code. 1: public class GreetingHub : Hub 2: { 3: public override Task OnConnected() 4: { 5: Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("Connected: {0}", Context.ConnectionId)); 6: return base.OnConnected(); 7: } 8:  9: public override Task OnDisconnected() 10: { 11: Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("Disconnected: {0}", Context.ConnectionId)); 12: return base.OnDisconnected(); 13: } 14:  15: public void Hello(string user) 16: { 17: Clients.All.hello(string.Format("Hello, {0}!", user)); 18: } 19: } Below is the configuration code which hosts SignalR hub in an ASP.NET WebAPI project with IIS Express. 1: public class Startup 2: { 3: public void Configuration(IAppBuilder app) 4: { 5: app.Map("/signalr", map => 6: { 7: map.UseCors(CorsOptions.AllowAll); 8: map.RunSignalR(new HubConfiguration() 9: { 10: EnableJavaScriptProxies = false 11: }); 12: }); 13: } 14: } Since we will host AngularJS application in Node.js in another process and port, the SignalR connection will be cross domain. So I need to enable CORS above. In client side I have a Node.js file to host AngularJS application as a web server. You can use any web server you like such as IIS, Apache, etc.. Below is the "index.html" page which contains a navigation bar so that I can change the page/state. As you can see I added jQuery, AngularJS, SignalR JavaScript Client Library as well as my AngularJS entry source file "app.js". 1: <html data-ng-app="demo"> 2: <head> 3: <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-2.1.0.js"></script> 1:  2: <script type="text/javascript" src="angular.js"> 1: </script> 2: <script type="text/javascript" src="angular-ui-router.js"> 1: </script> 2: <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.signalR-2.0.3.js"> 1: </script> 2: <script type="text/javascript" src="app.js"></script> 4: </head> 5: <body> 6: <h1>SignalR Auto Disconnect with AngularJS by Shaun</h1> 7: <div> 8: <a href="javascript:void(0)" data-ui-sref="view1">View 1</a> | 9: <a href="javascript:void(0)" data-ui-sref="view2">View 2</a> 10: </div> 11: <div data-ui-view></div> 12: </body> 13: </html> Below is the "app.js". My SignalR logic was in the "View1" page and it will connect to server once the controller was executed. User can specify a user name and send to server, all clients that located in this page will receive the server side greeting message through SignalR. 1: 'use strict'; 2:  3: var app = angular.module('demo', ['ui.router']); 4:  5: app.config(['$stateProvider', '$locationProvider', function ($stateProvider, $locationProvider) { 6: $stateProvider.state('view1', { 7: url: '/view1', 8: templateUrl: 'view1.html', 9: controller: 'View1Ctrl' }); 10:  11: $stateProvider.state('view2', { 12: url: '/view2', 13: templateUrl: 'view2.html', 14: controller: 'View2Ctrl' }); 15:  16: $locationProvider.html5Mode(true); 17: }]); 18:  19: app.value('$', $); 20: app.value('endpoint', 'http://localhost:60448'); 21: app.value('hub', 'GreetingHub'); 22:  23: app.controller('View1Ctrl', function ($scope, $, endpoint, hub) { 24: $scope.user = ''; 25: $scope.response = ''; 26:  27: $scope.greeting = function () { 28: proxy.invoke('Hello', $scope.user) 29: .done(function () {}) 30: .fail(function (error) { 31: console.log(error); 32: }); 33: }; 34:  35: var connection = $.hubConnection(endpoint); 36: var proxy = connection.createHubProxy(hub); 37: proxy.on('hello', function (response) { 38: $scope.$apply(function () { 39: $scope.response = response; 40: }); 41: }); 42: connection.start() 43: .done(function () { 44: console.log('signlar connection established'); 45: }) 46: .fail(function (error) { 47: console.log(error); 48: }); 49: }); 50:  51: app.controller('View2Ctrl', function ($scope, $) { 52: }); When we went to View1 the server side "OnConnect" method will be invoked as below. And in any page we send the message to server, all clients will got the response. If we close one of the client, the server side "OnDisconnect" method will be invoked which is correct. But is we click "View 2" link in the page "OnDisconnect" method will not be invoked even though the content and browser address had been changed. This might cause many SignalR connections remain between the client and server. Below is what happened after I clicked "View 1" and "View 2" links four times. As you can see there are 4 live connections.   Solution Since the reason of this issue is because, AngularJS hijacks the page event that SignalR need to stop the connection, we can handle AngularJS route or state change event and stop SignalR connect manually. In the code below I moved the "connection" variant to global scope, added a handler to "$stateChangeStart" and invoked "stop" method of "connection" if its state was not "disconnected". 1: var connection; 2: app.run(['$rootScope', function ($rootScope) { 3: $rootScope.$on('$stateChangeStart', function () { 4: if (connection && connection.state && connection.state !== 4 /* disconnected */) { 5: console.log('signlar connection abort'); 6: connection.stop(); 7: } 8: }); 9: }]); Now if we refresh the page and navigated to View 1, the connection will be opened. At this state if we clicked "View 2" link the content will be changed and the SignalR connection will be closed automatically.   Summary In this post I demonstrated an issue when we are using SignalR with AngularJS. The connection cannot be closed automatically when we navigate to other page/state in AngularJS. And the solution I mentioned below is to move the SignalR connection as a global variant and close it manually when AngularJS route/state changed. You can download the full sample code here. Moving the SignalR connection as a global variant might not be a best solution. It's just for easy to demo here. In production code I suggest wrapping all SignalR operations into an AngularJS factory. Since AngularJS factory is a singleton object, we can safely put the connection variant in the factory function scope.   Hope this helps, Shaun All documents and related graphics, codes are provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind. • Java Logger API

    - by Koppar
    This is a more like a tip rather than technical write up and serves as a quick intro for newbies. The logger API helps to diagnose application level or JDK level issues at runtime. There are 7 levels which decide the detailing in logging (SEVERE, WARNING, INFO, CONFIG, FINE, FINER, FINEST). Its best to start with highest level and as we narrow down, use more detailed logging for a specific area. SEVERE is the highest and FINEST is the lowest. This may not make sense until we understand some jargon. The Logger class provides the ability to stream messages to an output stream in a format that can be controlled by the user. What this translates to is, I can create a logger with this simple invocation and use it add debug messages in my class: import java.util.logging.*; private static final Logger focusLog = Logger.getLogger("java.awt.focus.KeyboardFocusManager"); if (focusLog.isLoggable(Level.FINEST)) { focusLog.log(Level.FINEST, "Calling peer setCurrentFocusOwner}); LogManager acts like a book keeper and all the getLogger calls are forwarded to LogManager. The LogManager itself is a singleton class object which gets statically initialized on JVM start up. More on this later. If there is no existing logger with the given name, a new one is created. If there is one (and not yet GC’ed), then the existing Logger object is returned. By default, a root logger is created on JVM start up. All anonymous loggers are made as the children of the root logger. Named loggers have the hierarchy as per their name resolutions. Eg: java.awt.focus is the parent logger for java.awt.focus.KeyboardFocusManager etc. Before logging any message, the logger checks for the log level specified. If null is specified, the log level of the parent logger will be set. However, if the log level is off, no log messages would be written, irrespective of the parent’s log level. All the messages that are posted to the Logger are handled as a LogRecord object.i.e. FocusLog.log would create a new LogRecord object with the log level and message as its data members). The level of logging and thread number are also tracked. LogRecord is passed on to all the registered Handlers. Handler is basically a means to output the messages. The output may be redirected to either a log file or console or a network logging service. The Handler classes use the LogManager properties to set filters and formatters. During initialization or JVM start up, LogManager looks for logging.properties file in jre/lib and sets the properties if the file is provided. An alternate location for properties file can also be specified by setting java.util.logging.config.file system property. This can be set in Java Control Panel ? Java ? Runtime parameters as -Djava.util.logging.config.file = <mylogfile> or passed as a command line parameter java -Djava.util.logging.config.file = C:/Sunita/myLog The redirection of logging depends on what is specified rather registered as a handler with JVM in the properties file. java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler sends the output to system.err and java.util.logging.FileHandler sends the output to file. File name of the log file can also be specified. If you prefer XML format output, in the configuration file, set java.util.logging.FileHandler.formatter = java.util.logging.XMLFormatter and if you prefer simple text, set set java.util.logging.FileHandler.formatter =java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter Below is the default logging Configuration file: ############################################################ # Default Logging Configuration File # You can use a different file by specifying a filename # with the java.util.logging.config.file system property. # For example java -Djava.util.logging.config.file=myfile ############################################################ ############################################################ # Global properties ############################################################ # "handlers" specifies a comma separated list of log Handler # classes. These handlers will be installed during VM startup. # Note that these classes must be on the system classpath. # By default we only configure a ConsoleHandler, which will only # show messages at the INFO and above levels. handlers= java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler # To also add the FileHandler, use the following line instead. #handlers= java.util.logging.FileHandler, java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler # Default global logging level. # This specifies which kinds of events are logged across # all loggers. For any given facility this global level # can be overriden by a facility specific level # Note that the ConsoleHandler also has a separate level # setting to limit messages printed to the console. .level= INFO ############################################################ # Handler specific properties. # Describes specific configuration info for Handlers. ############################################################ # default file output is in user's home directory. java.util.logging.FileHandler.pattern = %h/java%u.log java.util.logging.FileHandler.limit = 50000 java.util.logging.FileHandler.count = 1 java.util.logging.FileHandler.formatter = java.util.logging.XMLFormatter # Limit the message that are printed on the console to INFO and above. java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = INFO java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.formatter = java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter ############################################################ # Facility specific properties. # Provides extra control for each logger. ############################################################ # For example, set the com.xyz.foo logger to only log SEVERE # messages: com.xyz.foo.level = SEVERE Since I primarily use this method to track focus issues, here is how I get detailed awt focus related logging. Just set the logger name to java.awt.focus.level=FINEST and change the default log level to FINEST. Below is a basic sample program. The sample programs are from http://www2.cs.uic.edu/~sloan/CLASSES/java/ and have been modified to illustrate the logging API. By changing the .level property in the logging.properties file, one can control the output written to the logs. To play around with the example, try changing the levels in the logging.properties file and notice the difference in messages going to the log file. • Building and Deploying Windows Azure Web Sites using Git and GitHub for Windows

    - by shiju
    Microsoft Windows Azure team has released a new version of Windows Azure which is providing many excellent features. The new Windows Azure provides Web Sites which allows you to deploy up to 10 web sites  for free in a multitenant shared environment and you can easily upgrade this web site to a private, dedicated virtual server when the traffic is grows. The Meet Windows Azure Fact Sheet provides the following information about a Windows Azure Web Site: Windows Azure Web Sites enable developers to easily build and deploy websites with support for multiple frameworks and popular open source applications, including ASP.NET, PHP and Node.js. With just a few clicks, developers can take advantage of Windows Azure’s global scale without having to worry about operations, servers or infrastructure. It is easy to deploy existing sites, if they run on Internet Information Services (IIS) 7, or to build new sites, with a free offer of 10 websites upon signup, with the ability to scale up as needed with reserved instances. Windows Azure Web Sites includes support for the following: Multiple frameworks including ASP.NET, PHP and Node.js Popular open source software apps including WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, Umbraco and DotNetNuke Windows Azure SQL Database and MySQL databases Multiple types of developer tools and protocols including Visual Studio, Git, FTP, Visual Studio Team Foundation Services and Microsoft WebMatrix Signup to Windows and Enable Azure Web Sites You can signup for a 90 days free trial account in Windows Azure from here. After creating an account in Windows Azure, go to https://account.windowsazure.com/ , and select to preview features to view the available previews. In the Web Sites section of the preview features, click “try it now” which will enables the web sites feature Create Web Site in Windows Azure To create a web sites, login to the Windows Azure portal, and select Web Sites from and click New icon from the left corner  Click WEB SITE, QUICK CREATE and put values for URL and REGION dropdown. You can see the all web sites from the dashboard of the Windows Azure portal Set up Git Publishing Select your web site from the dashboard, and select Set up Git publishing To enable Git publishing , you must give user name and password which will initialize a Git repository Clone Git Repository We can use GitHub for Windows to publish apps to non-GitHub repositories which is well explained by Phil Haack on his blog post. Here we are going to deploy the web site using GitHub for Windows. Let’s clone a Git repository using the Git Url which will be getting from the Windows Azure portal. Let’s copy the Git url and execute the “git clone” with the git url. You can use the Git Shell provided by GitHub for Windows. To get it, right on the GitHub for Windows, and select open shell here as shown in the below picture. When executing the Git Clone command, it will ask for a password where you have to give password which specified in the Windows Azure portal. After cloning the GIT repository, you can drag and drop the local Git repository folder to GitHub for Windows GUI. This will automatically add the Windows Azure Web Site repository onto GitHub for Windows where you can commit your changes and publish your web sites to Windows Azure. Publish the Web Site using GitHub for Windows We can add multiple framework level files including ASP.NET, PHP and Node.js, to the local repository folder can easily publish to Windows Azure from GitHub for Windows GUI. For this demo, let me just add a simple Node.js file named Server.js which handles few request handlers. 1: var http = require('http'); 2: var port=process.env.PORT; 3: var querystring = require('querystring'); 4: var utils = require('util'); 5: var url = require("url"); 6:   7: var server = http.createServer(function(req, res) { 8: switch (req.url) { //checking the request url 9: case '/': 10: homePageHandler (req, res); //handler for home page 11: break; 12: case '/register': 13: registerFormHandler (req, res);//hamdler for register 14: break; 15: default: 16: nofoundHandler (req, res);// handler for 404 not found 17: break; 18: } 19: }); 20: server.listen(port); 21: //function to display the html form 22: function homePageHandler (req, res) { 23: console.log('Request handler home was called.'); 24: res.writeHead(200, {'Content-Type': 'text/html'}); 25: var body = '<html>'+ 26: '<head>'+ 27: '<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; '+ 28: 'charset=UTF-8" />'+ 29: '</head>'+ 30: '<body>'+ 31: '<form action="/register" method="post">'+ 32: 'Name:<input type=text value="" name="name" size=15></br>'+ 33: 'Email:<input type=text value="" name="email" size=15></br>'+ 34: '<input type="submit" value="Submit" />'+ 35: '</form>'+ 36: '</body>'+ 37: '</html>'; 38: //response content 39: res.end(body); 40: } 41: //handler for Post request 42: function registerFormHandler (req, res) { 43: console.log('Request handler register was called.'); 44: var pathname = url.parse(req.url).pathname; 45: console.log("Request for " + pathname + " received."); 46: var postData = ""; 47: req.on('data', function(chunk) { 48: // append the current chunk of data to the postData variable 49: postData += chunk.toString(); 50: }); 51: req.on('end', function() { 52: // doing something with the posted data 53: res.writeHead(200, "OK", {'Content-Type': 'text/html'}); 54: // parse the posted data 55: var decodedBody = querystring.parse(postData); 56: // output the decoded data to the HTTP response 57: res.write('<html><head><title>Post data</title></head><body><pre>'); 58: res.write(utils.inspect(decodedBody)); 59: res.write('</pre></body></html>'); 60: res.end(); 61: }); 62: } 63: //Error handler for 404 no found 64: function nofoundHandler(req, res) { 65: console.log('Request handler nofound was called.'); 66: res.writeHead(404, {'Content-Type': 'text/plain'}); 67: res.end('404 Error - Request handler not found'); 68: } .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } If there is any change in the local repository folder, GitHub for Windows will automatically detect the changes. In the above step, we have just added a Server.js file so that GitHub for Windows will detect the changes. Let’s commit the changes to the local repository before publishing the web site to Windows Azure. After committed the all changes, you can click publish button which will publish the all changes to Windows Azure repository. The following screen shot shows deployment history from the Windows Azure portal.   GitHub for Windows is providing a sync button which can use for synchronizing between local repository and Windows Azure repository after making any commit on the local repository after any changes. Our web site is running after the deployment using Git Summary Windows Azure Web Sites lets the developers to easily build and deploy websites with support for multiple framework including ASP.NET, PHP and Node.js and can easily deploy the Web Sites using Visual Studio, Git, FTP, Visual Studio Team Foundation Services and Microsoft WebMatrix. In this demo, we have deployed a Node.js Web Site to Windows Azure using Git. We can use GitHub for Windows to publish apps to non-GitHub repositories and can use to publish Web SItes to Windows Azure.
