For example, could I broadcast a video file from my hard disk to a website that allows video conferencing using a Flash applet? • after ubuntu upgrade to 9.10: video playback is all green/blue tinted

  I just upgraded from ubutnu 9.04 to 9.10, and everything was working fine before the upgrade but now when ever I play a file in a video player everything has a blue/green tint. Its like my video went into Smurf mode! for some reason flash based video is still fine, ex. hulu/youtube both play just fine.

• Boot Toshiba Portege M200 with no CD drive

  This has not CD drive and I would like to boot to Acronis to reload from an image that I created. I don't know how else to get the OS and all the drivers loaded. It doesn't seem to have Toshiba hidden boot partion on the HD. It doesn't seem to recognize my USB external CD drive or my USB flash drive. Any ideas? Paul

I know my processor is capable of it (from knowing it's an AMD Athlon 64 x2 & via something coming out when I type egrep '(vmx|svm)' --color=always /proc/cpuinfo), but I can't tell if I need to flash my bios to enable it.

• Need a redistributable edition of Free AVG

  So, I'm trying to install AVG on someone else's computer (with permission, I promise!) but their internet connection is spotty. The d/l is stopped and sent back to square one when the line goes down, so I need to download it from a good terminal, and then shove it on a flash drive or something and give it to them. • Windows 7 disables ReadyBoost after reboot

  I have a USB flash drive that I dedicated to ReadyBoost on my Windows 7 PC. Whenever I reboot my machine, it "forgets" that the USB drive is configured for ReadyBoost. What could be the reason for this? Google reveals that there are several people with the same issue, but I have not found a conclusive answer so far.

  Is there such a thing as a H.323 to RTSP gateway? Am I searching for the wrong terms? This site seems to imply that such a thing should already exists, but I cannot find anything at all. My end goal is to connect a Flash applet (via RTMP) on one end to a video conference (which uses H.323) on the other end. I have a RTMP<--RTSP/RTP gateway, so a RTSP<--H.323 gateway would allow this solution to work.

  Do web proxies really provide anonymity? I mean, without someone asking for logs in a web proxy server for who/when connected, is it impossible to know who was behind that IP address? I'm asking this because I heard somewhere that some technologies (like "flash") bypass personal IP information for requests or something like that. • Why won't my Western Digital My Book Home 500GB drive mount on my Macbook Pro via Firewire?

  I can connect the drive via USB and it mounts correctly. However, when I connect via FireWire, the drive powers down. The drive realizes that it is plugged in. When I plug in via FireWire, the lights on the front of the drive flash the same as when it it mounting via USB, but then the drive powers down. I've upgraded the firmware on the drive, but it still won't mount via FireWire.

• kerio add-in for outlook disabled after every adobe update

  I'm using outlook 2010 with the kerio toolbar/add-in. Every time I install an update for Adobe (flash player, pdf reader), the kerio add-in gets disabled, which is quite annoying (more so since this is a customer computer and it is hard to get them install updates if these break add-ins they need). Is there a way either to get adobe update not to disable this, or maybe create a script which enables the add-in at user logon?

• Browser caching is generating hugo I/O to server

  Our users My Documents are stored on a Emc NAS. I have noticed huge traffic coming from users and I see that most of it is coming to cache directories of Internet Explorer and other browsers. One thing i suspect is Adobe Flash caching streams. We have various Windows clients and no restrictions on browsers. Is there any way to remove this traffic from our NAS by a group policy or whatever? Thanks Rime
