    - by Didi
    The code below is from the book Beginning iPhone 3 Development, chapter 15, using the accelerometer to control a ball. I want to use a label instead of the ball, and only move in the x direction. However, I donno how to revise the code to achieve this goal. Can anyone please help me? THX so much!!!! (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)coder { if (self = [super initWithCoder:coder]) { self.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"ball.png"]; self.currentPoint = CGPointMake((self.bounds.size.width / 2.0f) + (image.size.width / 2.0f), (self.bounds.size.height / 2.0f) + (image.size.height / 2.0f)); ballXVelocity = 0.0f; ballYVelocity = 0.0f; } return self; } (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { // Initialization code } return self; } (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code [image drawAtPoint:currentPoint]; } (void)dealloc { [image release]; [acceleration release]; [super dealloc]; } //#pragma mark - - (CGPoint)currentPoint { return currentPoint; } - (void)setCurrentPoint:(CGPoint)newPoint { previousPoint = currentPoint; currentPoint = newPoint; if (currentPoint.x < 0) { currentPoint.x = 0; //ballXVelocity = 0; ballXVelocity = - (ballXVelocity / 2.0); } if (currentPoint.y < 0){ currentPoint.y = 0; //ballYVelocity = 0; ballYVelocity = - (ballYVelocity / 2.0); } if (currentPoint.x > self.bounds.size.width - image.size.width) { currentPoint.x = self.bounds.size.width - image.size.width; //ballXVelocity = 0; ballXVelocity = - (ballXVelocity / 2.0); } if (currentPoint.y > self.bounds.size.height - image.size.height) { currentPoint.y = self.bounds.size.height - image.size.height; //ballYVelocity = 0; ballYVelocity = - (ballYVelocity / 2.0); } CGRect currentImageRect = CGRectMake(currentPoint.x, currentPoint.y, currentPoint.x + image.size.width, currentPoint.y + image.size.height); CGRect previousImageRect = CGRectMake(previousPoint.x, previousPoint.y, previousPoint.x + image.size.width, currentPoint.y + image.size.width); [self setNeedsDisplayInRect:CGRectUnion(currentImageRect, previousImageRect)]; } (void)draw { static NSDate *lastDrawTime; if (lastDrawTime != nil) { NSTimeInterval secondsSinceLastDraw = -([lastDrawTime timeIntervalSinceNow]); ballYVelocity = ballYVelocity + -(acceleration.y * secondsSinceLastDraw); ballXVelocity = ballXVelocity + acceleration.x * secondsSinceLastDraw; CGFloat xAcceleration = secondsSinceLastDraw * ballXVelocity * 500; CGFloat yAcceleration = secondsSinceLastDraw * ballYVelocity * 500; self.currentPoint = CGPointMake(self.currentPoint.x + xAcceleration, self.currentPoint.y +yAcceleration); } // Update last time with current time [lastDrawTime release]; lastDrawTime = [[NSDate alloc] init]; }

  • How to change the size of NSImageView control from within program?

    - by Adam
    The following line of code displays an image on my application window, within an NSImageView control named outputImageView. I used Interface Builder to put the NSImageView control onto the window, initially (then bound it to outputImageView). How do I change the size of the NSImageView control within my program, so that it matches the size of the actual image I am displaying (which may change, periodically)? And what if I wanted to change the anchor point for the image (i.e., centered, left edge, bottom right, or whatever? Thanks in advance! [outputImageView setImage: outputImage];

  • How do I animate a UIButton in a UITableView?

    - by Ryan Lopez
    I currently have a UITableView with each cell containing four UIButtons. I am placing an image for each button with a downloaded picture from online. I'd like to have the button fade in when the image is finished downloading. I know I can animate in the viewDidLoad, but I assign the image in the cellForRowAtIndex function. How do I go about animating just the UIButton at a later point in time when I update the UIButton with the image?

  • EGODatabase does not retain inserted record

    - by user135775
    Hi Guy! I'm using EGODatabase to process my data. When I tried to insert data into the database which I created with Base and attached to the project, the data that was inserted programmatically will not show up when I restart my app.However the data inserted manually using Base will show up just fine. Following is the code for inserting data into the database: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"Database" ofType:@"db"]; db = [EGODatabase databaseWithPath:path]; if ([db open]) { NSLog(@"Database is opened successfully!"); } else { NSLog(@"Database is failed to open!"); } NSArray *params = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[aFeed feedID], [aFeed title], nil]; [db executeUpdate:@"Insert INTO Feed (FeedID, Title) VALUES (?, ?)" parameters:params]; EGODatabaseResult *results = [db executeQuery:@"SELECT * FROM Feed"]; for ( EGODatabaseRow * row in results) { NSLog(@"ID: %@ Title: %@", [row stringForColumn:@"FeedID"], [row stringForColumn:@"Title"]); } I appreciate if anyone can share me a working sample code for EGODatabase. I'm using EGODatabase because I might have multi-threading code that write to the database. Thank in advance.

  • UITableViewCell: how to verify the kind of accessoryType in all cells?

    - by R31n4ld0_
    Hello, Guys. I have a UITableView in that some cells are marked with UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark at the initialization of the view. When the user selects another row, I have to check if the maximum number of selected rows was achieved before. To do that, I used the code bellow: - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfSelectedRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section{ NSInteger numberOfRows = [self tableView:tableView numberOfRowsInSection:section]; NSInteger numberOfSelectedRows = 0; for (int i = 0; i < numberOfRows; i++) { UITableViewCell *otherCell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:i inSection:section]]; if (otherCell.accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark) { numberOfSelectedRows++; } } return numberOfSelectedRows; } If my number of rows is, as example, 20, the variable numberOfRows is setted correctly with 20. Lets say that 13 rows already are marked with UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark. So, numberOfSelectedRows should be 13 after the loop, but only the marked and VISIBLE cells are considered. So, if I have 9 cells showed and 7 are marked, the numberOfSelectedRows returns 7 instead of 13 (but the for iterate 20 times, as expected). Is this a correct behavior of UITableView or it is a bug of iPhone simulator? Thanks in advance.

  • Clear button at uisearchbar not working at all

    - by kevin.ng
    I created a search bar programmatically and added to my view using the codes below: - (void)viewDidLoad { searchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(xPositionForSearchBar, yPositionForSearchBar, widthForSearchBar, heightForSearchBar)]; UIView *bg = [[searchBar subviews] objectAtIndex:0]; searchBar.delegate = self; searchBar.placeholder = @"Search record"; for(UIView *view in searchBar.subviews){ if([view isKindOfClass:[UITextField class]]){ UITextField *tf = (UITextField *)view; tf.delegate = self; break; } } [bg removeFromSuperview]; [self.view addSubview: searchBar]; } The code is implemented with UISearchBarDelegate and UITextFieldDelegate. I have tried using - (void)searchBarCancelButtonClicked:(UISearchBar *)aSearchBar { NSLog(@"cancel clicked"); searchBar.text = @""; [aSearchBar resignFirstResponder]; } - (BOOL)textFieldShouldClear:(UITextField *)textField { NSLog(@"clear"); [self performSelector:@selector(searchBarCancelButtonClicked:) withObject:searchBar afterDelay: 0.1]; return YES; } and yet, the text inside the searchBar is not cleared at all when i click on the "clear button" - a circle with a "X" inside. The clear button works when I implemented it in IB. Wonder why? Kindly advice, many thanks.

  • NSRegularExpression for stripping HTML Tag

    - by Prazi
    I am developing a ebook reader app. I have the .ePUB file for the entire ebook where in each topic of the ebook is a html file. I want to implement the search functionality in the app. I am using NSRegularExpression class for searching. Please consider the following html code: <temp> I am temp in tempo with temptation </temp> Say for example in the above html code I just want to search for the word temp. Now in above code temp is appearing 5 times - <temp> </temp> temp tempo temptation. I am looking for a regular expression where I can only extract the whole word "temp". I don't want to consider the word temp in the html tags <temp> </temp>. I also don't want the word tempo and temptation to be considered. Thanks in advance

  • Implementations details of drag and drop of file path in cocoa.

    - by foo
    Hi, I'm trying to get a part of my window to react to drag and drop. In this case to copy the file path to the file being dropped on the view. I have looked over some documentation but I still have some problems to see exactly where I should implement my methods for drag and drop. I have seen some examples but almost all of them assumes that I want to drop an image on the view. I'm pretty new to cocoa and Xcode so, I have some problems with seeing the exact relation between interface builder and the generated code. I have created a subclass to NSView, called drop zone like this: #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface dropZone : NSView { } @end I then use an NSRect to color it grey like this: #import "dropZone.h" @implementation dropZone - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)rect { NSRect bounds = [self bounds]; [[NSColor grayColor] set]; [NSBezierPath fillRect:bounds]; } @end I then drag this class to my window in interface builder. But I will need to implement the registerForDraggingTypes method, but where? I have also seen a convenience method in the Apple docs for file paths like this: dragFile:fromRect:slideBack:event: that might work.

  • Find out when all processes in (void) is done?

    - by Emil
    Hey. I need to know how you can find out when all processes (loaded) from a - (void) are done, if it's possible. Why? I'm loading in data for a UITableView, and I need to know when a Loading... view can be replaced with the UITableView, and when I can start creating the cells. This is my code: - (void) reloadData { NSAutoreleasePool *releasePool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSLog(@"Reloading data."); NSURL *urlPosts = [NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", URL]]; NSError *lookupError = nil; NSString *data = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:urlPosts encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&lookupError]; postsData = [data componentsSeparatedByString:@"~"]; [data release], data = nil; urlPosts = nil; self.numberOfPosts = [[postsData objectAtIndex:0] intValue]; self.postsArrayID = [[postsData objectAtIndex:1] componentsSeparatedByString:@"#"]; self.postsArrayDate = [[postsData objectAtIndex:2] componentsSeparatedByString:@"#"]; self.postsArrayTitle = [[postsData objectAtIndex:3] componentsSeparatedByString:@"#"]; self.postsArrayComments = [[postsData objectAtIndex:4] componentsSeparatedByString:@"#"]; self.postsArrayImgSrc = [[postsData objectAtIndex:5] componentsSeparatedByString:@"#"]; NSMutableArray *writeToPlist = [NSMutableArray array]; NSMutableArray *writeToNoImagePlist = [NSMutableArray array]; NSMutableArray *imagesStored = [NSMutableArray arrayWithContentsOfFile:[rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"imagesStored.plist"]]; int loop = 0; for (NSString *postID in postsArrayID) { if ([imagesStored containsObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@.png", postID]]){ NSLog(@"Allready stored, jump to next. If image is empty, try one more time or use noImage.png, set in IB if (imageData == nil){ NSLog(@"imageData is empty before trying .jpeg"); // If image == nil, try to replace .jpg with .jpeg, and if that worked, set cellImage to that image. If that is also nil, use noImage.png, set in IB. imageData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[[postsArrayImgSrc objectAtIndex:loop] stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@".jpg" withString:@".jpeg"]]]; } if (imageData != nil){ NSLog(@"imageData is NOT empty when creating file"); [fileManager createFileAtPath:[rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"images/%@.png", postID]] contents:imageData attributes:nil]; [writeToPlist addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@.png", postID]]; } else { [writeToNoImagePlist addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", postID]]; } imageData = nil; loop++; NSLog(@"imagePlist: %@\nnoImagePlist: %@", writeToPlist, writeToNoImagePlist); } NSMutableArray *writeToAllPlist = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:writeToPlist]; [writeToPlist addObjectsFromArray:[NSArray arrayWithContentsOfFile:nowPlist]]; [writeToAllPlist addObjectsFromArray:[NSArray arrayWithContentsOfFile:[rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"imagesStored.plist"]]]; [writeToNoImagePlist addObjectsFromArray:[NSArray arrayWithContentsOfFile:[rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"noImage.plist"]]]; [writeToPlist writeToFile:nowPlist atomically:YES]; [writeToAllPlist writeToFile:[rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"imagesStored.plist"] atomically:YES]; [writeToNoImagePlist writeToFile:[rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"noImage.plist"] atomically:YES]; [releasePool release]; }

  • iPhone - nested views & controllers

    - by codemonkey
    Is it possible to have a single iPhone screen with its view loaded from a xib by that screen's UIViewController, but then another UIView within that screen with content loaded from a separate xib file? If so, is it possible to have that nested view's events handled by a separate custom UIViewController subclass from the rest of the screen? If both of these things are possible, are they also advisable?

  • Format textfield while typing Ios

    - by BBios
    Ive seen other examples and tried - (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I just started coding my first Iphone App This is what I am trying to do I have 4 textfields and each has a limit on number of letters while typing I have done this using the below code - (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string { int valid; NSString *cs2 = [textField.text stringByReplacingCharactersInRange:range withString:string]; // int charCount = [cs2 length]; if(textField == cvv){ valid = 4; }else if(textField == cardName) { valid=26; }else if(textField == expDate) { valid=5; // if (charCount == 2 ) { // textField.text = [cs2 stringByAppendingString:@"/"]; // textField.text = cs2; // return YES; // } }else if(textField == acNumber) { valid=19; } return !([cs2 length] > valid); Works fine till here, I have a textfield where the user enters Exp date and would like to format it as if I am entering 112 then it should display as 01/12 and if I enter 2 then it should display as 1122 I tried checking if the length of the textfield value is 2 then append a / but then that gives me when I enter 12 it gives 11/22

  • Making alarm clock with NSTimer

    - by Alex G
    I just went through trying to make an alarm clock app with local notifications but that didn't do the trick because I needed an alert to appear instead of it going into notification centre in iOS 5+ So far I've been struggling greatly with nstimer and its functions so I was wondering if anyone could help out. I want when the user selects a time (through UIDatePicker, only time) for an alert to be displayed at exactly this time. I have figured out how to get the time from UIDatePicker but I do not know how to properly set the firing function of nstimer. This is what I have attempted so far, if anyone could help... be much appreciated. Thank you Example (it keeps going into the function every second opposed to a certain time I told it too... not what I want): NSDate *timestamp; NSDateComponents *comps = [[[NSDateComponents alloc] init] autorelease]; [comps setHour:2]; [comps setMinute:8]; timestamp = [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] dateFromComponents:comps]; NSTimer *f = [[NSTimer alloc] initWithFireDate:timestamp interval:0 target:self selector:@selector(test) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; NSRunLoop *runner = [NSRunLoop currentRunLoop]; [runner addTimer:f forMode: NSDefaultRunLoopMode];
