    Like the title says. I would love to know how, with VimScript, I can do an if statement, that checks if %Y (for statusline) exists in the current file. This is what I have so far: if expand('%:Y') != "" let filetype=extend('%:Y') let filetype+= ",\ " else let filetype="" endif This is, of course, for my statusline, for which I don't want to show the filetype comma and space if the filetype doesn't exist.     I have two tables posts and comments. Table comments have post_id attribute. I need to get all posts with type "open", for which there are no comments with type "good" and created date MAY 1. Is it optimal to use such SQL-query: SELECT posts.* FROM posts WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT comments.id FROM comments WHERE comments.post_id = posts.id AND comments.comment_type = 'good' AND comments.created_at BETWEEN '2010-05-01 00:00:00' AND '2010-05-01 23:59:59') I'm not sure that NOT EXISTS is perfect construction in this situation.

    I had interesting conversation with the attendees of the my SQL Server Performance Tuning course. I was asked if LEFT JOIN can do the same task as RIGHT JOIN by reserving the order of the tables in join, why does RIGHT JOIN exists? The definitions are as following: Left Join – select all the records from the LEFT table and then pick up any matching records from the RIGHT table   Right Join – select all the records from the RIGHT table and then pick up any matching records from the LEFT table Most of us read from LEFT to RIGHT so we are using LEFT join. Do you have any explaination why RIGHT JOIN exists or can you come up with example, where RIGHT JOIN is absolutely required and the task can not be achieved with LEFT JOIN. How can I check if the file exists before trying to include it so that an error is not thrown? I'd like to avoid using inline Java. Something using one of the JSTL tags is the preferred approach.

    I was moving a lot of databases from one SQL Server to another, and my applications were giving me errors saying "Login failed for <user>". The user was already in the database with appropriate rights to allowed objects in the database. I tried mapping the user to the database and that's when I got this message: "User Already Exists in the Current Database"... I googled and found this very useful post about orphaned users when moving databases. These are the steps you should take to fix this issue: First, make sure that this is the problem. This will lists the orphaned users: EXEC sp_change_users_login 'Report' If you already have a login id and password for this user, fix it by doing: EXEC sp_change_users_login 'Auto_Fix', 'user' If you want to create a new login id and password for this user, fix it by doing: EXEC sp_change_users_login 'Auto_Fix', 'user', 'login', 'password'

    I am fairly new to java and I am trying to find if the file specified in the LINUX path exists. private void validateFilePath(String filePath) { File dir = new File(filePath); if(dir.exists()){ System.out.println("File exists in the path " + dir); setTARGET_IMG_DIR("filePath"); return; }else{ System.out.println("File does not exists in the path: " + dir); return; } } The dir.exists works fine if I give a absolute path from my root like this /Users/yv/Documents/Eclipse-workspace/InputParser/bin/test.txt but if I give a relative path like test.txt or /InputParser/bin/test.txt it says files does not exists. I am planing on creating a jar of this projects and hence this should work with both relative path(files in the same directory) and absolute path from the root. How can I handle this ? Is it possible to search for the absolute path of that file from the root and append it to the file name ?

I wish sometime to check have i placed it into the DOM before or it is still virtual. // check if elem is placed in the DOM (it's not) document.getElementByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(elem); // check - and it's finally in the document When use jquery i can write '$(elem).filter(':visible') or even $(elem).visible() if i remember correctly. But if it's based on the same javascript, then... All i want is to check does the element exist only virtually or it can be found in a document (and still may be not visible).

    i am writing a script to install a program with bash, i want to exit on error so i added "set -e" in the beginning of my script. the problem is that i have to check if a user exists inside of my script, to do this i am using "grep "^${USER}:" /etc/passwd", if the user exists, the script runs normally, but if the user doesn't exist, this command exists, and i don't want to exit on this case (i have to create the user and continue my installation). so what's the solution to make my script continue running ?? i tried to redirect the output of "grep" to a variable, but i still have the same problem :( thanks.

    I installed ZendStudio 5.5.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 and it runs well , no problem. Today, I download Ubuntu 12.10 and intalled it on my / but keep the /home partition. And now, I can't run the ZendStudio any more, it gives me this error: strings: '/lib/libc.so.6': No such file ./ZDE: 1714: exec: /home/william/Zend/ZendStudio-5.5.1/jre/bin/java: not found But the java file exist! What's wrong? Thanks!

  • HIB Games (Aquaria & Penumbra) cannot find libGL.so.1 even though it exists

    I'm try to play some Humble Indie Bundle (HIB) games, but I'm getting errors with Aquaria and Penumbra: Overture that are related to the libGL.so.1 file. Aquaria gives this error on launch: Message: SDL_GL_LoadLibrary Error: Failed loading libGL.so.1 And Penumbra: Overture gives this error on launch: ./penumbra.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I know that the file libGL.so.1 does exist (in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1). From past errors like this, I'm guessing that you need to symlink the library to another directory, but I can't figure out which one.

    I'm about to remove an old backup directory, but before doing so I'd like to make sure that all these files exist in a newer directory. Is there a tool for this? Or am I best off doing this "manually" using find, md5sum, sorting, comparing, etc? Clarification: If I have the following directory listings /path/to/old_backup/dir1/fileA /path/to/old_backup/dir1/fileB /path/to/old_backup/dir2/fileC and /path/to/new_backup/dir1/fileA /path/to/new_backup/dir2/fileB /path/to/new_backup/dir2/fileD then fileA and fileB exists in new_backup (fileA in its original directory, and fileB has moved from dir1 to dir2). fileC on the other hand is missing in new_backup and fileD has been created. In this situation I'd like the output to be something like fileC exists in old_backup, but not in new_backup.

    Sometimes when I want to delete a file (from within a script), I will just delete it rather than checking if it exists first. So I do this: $ rm "temp.txt" 2>/dev/null Instead of this: [ -f "temp.txt" ] && rm "temp.txt" I just feel it's a waste of time to go and check if the file exists and return an exit code. So, perhaps it's quicker to do it the first way, especially if most of the time, the file is likely to be present. Are there any other advantages (or downsides) to do it one way or the other? Am I wrong to think it will ever be quicker?
