    I've tried disabling it by inserting: into my HTML string, and a dozen variations of the above in the vain hope that I just screwed up the tag syntax... but nothing seems to stop UIWebView from scrolling horizontally. And yet there are apps that manage to do this (like MobileRSS), and presumably, since they haven't gotten rejected, they're not using private APIs.

This may sound easy, but I've been trying - in vain, apparently - to figure out how I can make a query with MySQL that checks if the value (string $haystack ;) ) in a certain column contains certain data ( $needle ;) ), like this: mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM `table` WHERE `column`.contains('{$needle}') "); In PHP, the function is called substr($haystack, $needle), so maybe: WHERE substr(`column`, '{$needle}')=1 Thanks in advance!

    Can anybody tell me how to persist long text using JPA (I use PostgreSQL)? Here's the way I defined a very long string in my class: @Lob private String body; However, this produces a field of type charactervarying(255) in the database. Furthermore, I've tried to use @Column annotation: @Column(columnDefinition="TEXT") private String body; But everything in vain. I would be gratefull for a helpfull comment on this problem.

    System restore just stopped working, when I needed it most. (tried diff restore points... same error). Now everytime I run system-restore, it fails with the above error message. I cleared the event logs and retried to isolate the relevant events. I see 5 warnings and 1 info event from VSS and 1 error from System Restore.   • Safari taking too long to load web-pages.

    I am running the latest and greatest Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have started to notice that Safari is taking too long to open properly most of the web-pages I routinely visit. Safari would first sit at "Connecting ..." status, and then on "Waiting ..." status, taking a lot of time to load the page. In contrast, Firefox (and Opera), for example, is loading pages quickly. I am not using any proxy settings on either. I have emptied the cache on Safari; also re-set Safari completely, but all in vain. I am now stumped about what I should try to locate what the problem is, and if possible, fix it. Any help from the community here will be very much appreciated!

  • Dual booting windows 8.1 and ubuntu

    I have a lenovo laptop with windows 8.1. I wanted to use ubuntu alongside windows. Hence, i downloaded the ubuntu 14.04 iso and created a live pendrive using Universal USB installer. I disabled secure boot and booted from the pendrive. All i get is the GNU GRUB command line version 2.X. I don't get a GUI for the GRUB and i don't know how to boot into ubuntu from the command line. I searched quite a few online forums but in vain. Can someone tell me how to proceed? Thanks in advance.

  • I tried changing my folder icon in windows XP and now whenever I click a folder it opens in a new wi

    On some random afternoon I figured I could do better than the boring yellow icon; After a vain attempt at trying to change it to no avail I realised that now whenever I open a folder it opens in a "search" window. This happened because when I go to the "(file folder)" type, the only option in there is "find" that is not supposed to be the default; upon saving this form XP tries to do me a favour and sets this as the new default. Now whenever I try to click a folder it opens the search window. great.

    My Windows 7 laptop can connect to our Wi-Fi signal, I can sign in on Yahoo! Messenger, but I can't go to any site. I can access the Net on other devices. The issue started a few weeks ago, so I've been troubleshooting since then in vain. There's no virus, and I already used System Restore. In Wireless Network Connection Status, the received activity is greater than the sent activity. I turned off Windows Firewall and still no Net access. My ping tests: How do I fix this?

  • Deploy Windows 7 Backup set to Windows 8

    Situation: We have a laptop here that's completely fubar. I.e: The hard drive is filled to the brim with bad sectors. Luckily, backups have been made using the built-in Windows 7 backup feature. This produces folders named Backup Set 2012-11-09 003009, containing folders like Backup Files 2012-11-09 003009, containing zip-files like Backup files 1, 2, 3,... Our brand new laptop comes with Windows 8. Now: Can we, using the standard back-up and restore feature in Windows 8, restore all the documents, music, etc. using the Windows 7 backup files? Thanks. (FYI: We also took a normal backup of all the documents just to be sure of course. I'm just curious what would happen. I would test it out, but the new laptop hasn't arrived yet and I wanted to make sure my efforts would not be in vain.)

    Code like on this page does not work in (my) Firefox 3.6 and also not in Fx4 (WinXPsp3) Works in IE8, Safari 5, Opera 11, Mozilla 1.7, Chrome 9 <meta http-equiv=refresh content="12; URL=meta2.htm"> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1; URL=http://fully_qualified_url.com/page2.html"> are completely ignored Not that I use such back-button killing things, but a LOT of sites do, possibly including my linux apache it seems when it wants to show a 503 error page... If I firebug or look at generated content, I do not see the refresh tag changed in any way so I am really curious what kind of plugin/addon could block me which is why I googled (in vain) for a known bug... In about:config I have accessibility.blockautorefresh; false so that is not it. I ran in safe mode and OH MY GOD, STACKEXCHANGE IS FULL OF ADS but no redirect

  • Windows 8 sleep, blank screen on resume

    I use a SONY VAIO laptop VPCS116FA that came pre-installed with Windows 7. I have upgraded to Windows 8. The experience has been good so far but I am facing a frustrating problem. Whenever, I put my computer to sleep, it won't wake up and I have to restart it. Note that this does not affect hibernation which works perfectly fine. However, it is not a perfect alternative to sleep option.     I am manage a group of VM and I need to setup all vm create a ssh tunnel to a specific host A. One way to do this is append public key of each VM to host's authorized_keys, but I guess I have to do the append each time i create a VM. So I am trying to config host A to accept pem or private key login without passowrd, just like EC2, client can use "ssh -i PEM" to login host A. But I have tried in vain for hours. I create a rsa public/private key and let VM use the private key to login, no matter what I do, host a still ask for password. Is there anything I missed ? Thanks.

  • How to make the Eclipse text editor background transparent?

    Is there a way to make the background of Eclipse IDE text editor transparent? I would like to adjust the alpha transparency of the background, but have the text still be opaque. Perhaps there is a plugin that accomplishes this? I haven't seen any options under preferences. And my search on Google has ended in vain thus far, although I did find some nice color themes. Example (Textmate): Note that the text is still solid. This is important, since making the whole window transparent could cause text to bleed into the desktop wallpaper (or whatever is under Eclipse). On another side note, I'm using the latest version of Eclipse (Helios), on both Windows 7 and Fedora 14.   • Error when starting update-manager

    Yesterday evening I ran an update. Apparently the python3-update-manager got updated. However, since today I get an error message when I started the update manager within Unity. A report was sent as proposed. Running an update from within the terminal seems to work normally. Uninstalling and re-installing from the ubuntu software centre didn't solve the problem. I tried throughout synaptic where I removed all related packages (3) and re-installed them after a restart..but in vain so far. I'm quite new to linux and ran out of ideas.   • Ubuntu 11.10 won't boot on Dell XPS 8300

    I have a brand new Dell Studio XPS 8300 desktop with 17-2600 cpu, H67 chipset, 8GB DDR3, 2 1TB HDDs in mirrored RAID, and AMD Radeon 6770. Dell doesn't support Ubuntu here in Australia so it came with Windows 7 and Windows software. Yes I had to pay for an O.S. and software I didn't want to get hardware I did want, all at a greatly inflated price. It's not all beer and skittles in the land of Oz. I changed boot priorities in the BIOS to DVD and ran Ubuntu 11.10 64bit from the ISO with NOMODESET. The installation reformatted all partitions to rid me of the dreaded Windows. All was well until until reboot. The BIOS does its thing, then its "The Black Screen of Death" with a blinking cursor; no boot screen, no Grub, no keyboard, no mouse. I've searched Dell and Ubuntu forums in vain. Can you help? I would be really grateful for any advice which can help turn my big expensive paperweight into a really useful machine.
