Car findById(long id); List findByModel(String model); Indeed, any developer who use this API won't need to look at the interface for knowing possible arguments of initial find() methods. So my question is more general : What is the benefit of using overloaded methods in code since it reduce readability?

  • Finding day of week in batch file? (Windows Server 2008)

    I have a process I run from a batch file, and i only want to run it on a certain day of the week. Is it possible to get the day of week? All the example I found, somehow rely on "date /t" to return "Friday, 12/11/2009", however, in my machine, "date /t" returns "12/11/2009". No weekday there. I've already checked the "regional settings" for my machine, and the long date format does include the weekday. The short date format doesn't, but i'd really rather not change that, since it'll affect a bunch of stuff I do. Any ideas here? Thanks! Daniel

My script goes like this. diskpart /s "abc.txt" where abc.txt is: sel disk 1 create part primary format FS=NTFS label=label2 quick compress My Problem here is I want to 'loop' the commands in abc.txt for the number of disks that exists. But I cannot send an argument like %1 to abc.txt file as it is a .txt file. and my diskpart /s can only take a .txt file as an argument. how to overcome this... could anybody please help?

  • Is there a way to submit a batch of commands to a Cisco router and have them execute from the router?

    I need to change the configuration of a remote (6 hours' drive) client's Cisco 871 (IOS 12.4.15T) from my location because of some new internet service at his location. To be more precise, I need to change the default route, ip address of the outside interface (Fa4) and disable the PPPoE setup there. Unfortunately, doing any of this will (obviously) break the connection to the router. I do not have an out-of-band management modem set up (I know, I know). Is there any way to enter the commands I need to have run and have them execute one after the other, from a file on flash:? I have never tried anything like that before. Essentially a DOS-style batch file is exactly what I need. Nothing like it seems to be out there except using kron to execute CLI commands, but that is specified here as only taking EXEC commands, not configuration ones. Is there hope, or do I travel?

    I'm look for either a free or paid-for (about 50$/40pounds) BATCH PDF to HTML converter to convert several PDF files at once. Needs to be able to handle vectored and bitmap images within the file, outputting both as jpegs referenced by the html pages. I've tried iorigsoft paid-for PDF to HTML - problems it seems to hang or just go idle, and the stuff it actually converts have broken links - the wrong name is used for constituent chapters as html. Also tried application from intrapdf.com but this crashes near the beginning of the conversion, consitently. Looked at opensource tools but they look equally flakey or use old PDF versions. Need it on Windows 7 32bit home. Thoughts?

    I have the following batch file which concatenates all of the files in a folder that have a .sql ending. set func=%~dp0%Stored Procedures\*.sql for %%i in (%func%) do type "%%i" >>InstallScript.sql We use SVN as our repository, and we're using branching. Currently the script concatenates all the .sql files, even the ones that haven't changed. I'd like to change it so it only concatenates files that have been modified and/or created after the branch was created. We can do that by looking at the datetime on the .svn folder in each folder(there's a Stored Procedure, View, Function subfolders). But I don't know how to do that with batch files. Ideally something like this(psuedo code): set func=%~dp0%Stored Procedures\*.sql set branchDateTime=GetDateTime(%~dp0%.svn) <- Gets the datetime when the .svn folder was created for %%i in (%func%) { if(%%i.LastModifiedOrCreated > branchDateTime) do type "%%i" >> InstallScript.sql }

    Like the title says, I need help creating a batch file to replace "." with "-", however I need to perserve the file extensions and it needs to work through the subfolders. I found another post on here that got the effect I wanted but it also swapped the . in my file extensions. I am a completely ignorant regarding shell script so please be detailed in your response. I have no idea what any of the switches mean or even how to specify the path for that matter. Thanks!

    Basically I want to create a file which will automatically install a bunch of files without having to manually install each of them (i.e. Flash, Adobe Reader, MS Office, etc.). I'm guessing the easiest way to do this would be to create a batch file but I don't have much experience with the scripting side of things. I remember seeing a website at one point that would do this sort of thing for you but I'm not sure if that could be used offline or not. Thanks in advance...just looking to make things a bit more streamlined on new builds without the costs associated with imaging software. Thanks!

    Hello, I need help writing a batch file to update templates on a database. Basically, all our clients have their own folder, with multiple templates inside. Due to the computer illiteracy of my office (sigh), there's no real better way to fix this. However, I need a way to update those templates in a batch. For instance \\SERVER\New Client Template Folder\Correspondence\Transmittal Letter.WPD is updated. I then need to copy it to: \\SERVER\Client Files\Client 1\Correspondence; \\SERVER\Client Files\Client 2\Correspondence; ...etc. Essentially, I need to copy to \\SERVER\Client Files\\*\\, and I need to make it a batch file that I can train someone else to use whenever I leave this job.     I'm attempting to write an ASCII null character (nul) to a file from a Windows batch script without success. I initially tried using echo like this: echo <Alt+2+5+6> which seems like it should work (typing <Alt+2+5+6> in the command window does write a null character - or ^@ as it appears), but echo then outputs: More? and hangs until I press <Return>. As an alternative I tried using: copy con tmp.txt >nul <Alt+2+5+6><Ctrl+Z> which does exactly what I need, but only if I type it manually in the command window. If I run it from a batch file it hangs until I press <Ctrl+Z> but even then the output file is created but remains empty. I really want the batch file to stand alone without requiring (for example) a separate file containing a null character which can be copied when needed.

    I have customer Pizza lists that i have saved into 5 seperate txt files from my database in this format: Filename = 25Percent.TXT "555-1211" "555-1212" "555-1223" ... ect Each list is a phone number in quotes and each list varies in length. Part 1: I have two sets of variables that i would like to replace with each quote in the 5 text files. The two variables would be like: Var A = < Discount Pizza price for phone number is " Var B = " 25 % So i would like to run a batch file that reads each line in the text file and writes into another text file the following, replacing the quotes with the variables: New Filename = 25Percentfinished.TXT < Discount Pizza price for phone number is "555-1211" 25 % < Discount Pizza price for phone number is "555-1212" 25 % < Discount Pizza price for phone number is "555-1223" 25 % Then I would repeat for 30percent.txt, then 35percent.txt, 40percent.txt, and then finally 50percent.txt file. Part II: I would also like to append the 5 new files together, with the append command? I am assuming that the SET Var command would also be used? Not sure what to do here.

The only glitch is with the framed index contents html - the graphics in the page do not display in the page in the frame - but if you open the frame only in a new tab then you can see them. That might be a browser glitch in chrome only. This solution is good enough for me - given that I've already spent the money (I had spent before I asked) but I can't accept my own answer as this does not work on Windows 7. Looked at opensource tools but they look equally flakey or use old PDF versions. Need it on Windows 7 32bit home. Thoughts?

    i'm new to both this platform and batch programming and i'm slowly but steadily driving crazy :-( I'm studying in Germany and just started on a bigger project that mainly consists of analyzing data and finding algorithms in order to maintain a certain function of a system. In order to get started i got a bunch of recorded data that, unfortunately, is not consistent when i comes to naming. Normally all files (all in one folder) should start with SPY.SPYNODE.SIDE and then go on with the specific names for each values or variables. However, the data logger messed it up a couple of times and gives weird names like SP0E1A~1.csv (all files are .csv-files). An that's when i figured in stead of renaming a couple of thousand files manually i could "easily" use a simple batch file to do that job for name. And that's exactly when I started to go crazy :-) So far i came up with the following: FOR /R %%i in (%CD%) DO ( set file1=%%i if not %file1%=="SPY.SPYNODE.SIDE" DO ( set /p "filename" < %file1% rename %file1% %filename% ) ) So what i want it to do is this (in pseudo) look through the whole folder and every file save the filename in variable file1 if file1 partially equals SPY.SPYNODE.SIDE open the file and save the first line (which contains the correct name of the file) in variable filename rename the file with the correct filename But so far it doesn't really work and i don't know why. Could anybody give me a hint or some advice how i should proceed? I really appreciate any kind of help!
