• Problem loading Oracle client libraries when running in a NAnt build

  I am trying to use dbdeploy to manage Oracle schema changes. I can run it successfully from the command line to get it to generate my change scripts, but when I try to execute it via the dbdeploy NAnt task running through TeamCity, I get an error: System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater. I do have the Oracle 10.2.0.2 client software installed. It's the first entry in the system path, and the dbdeploy.exe app is able to successfully negotiate an Oracle connection. The dbdeploy code dynamically loads the System.Data.OracleClient assembly, which in-turn tries to use the Oracle client bits to talk to the database. This is what is failing in my NAnt environment. • Solr error; Anybody know what this means?

  I am installing solr on my VPS (Ubuntu 9.10) via PuTTY. First, I thought about installing Solr with Tomcat, but then after installing tomcat, I changed my mind and went for the Jetty which comes with Solr. Now that I have setup everything on my Server, and try to start the "start.jar" file, I get some errors... • HTTPS Redirect Causing Error "Server cannot append header after HTTP headers have been sent"

  I need to check that our visitors are using HTTPS. In BasePage I check if the request is coming via HTTPS. If it's not, I redirect back with HTTPS.   hi, I have this weird problem that I cannot handle myself. A class in the model of my mvp-project designed as singleton causes an InvalidCastException. The source of error is found in this code line where the deserialised object is assigned to the instance variable of the class: engineObject = (ENGINE)xSerializer.Deserialize(str); It occurs whenever I try to add one of my UserControls to a Form or to a different UC. All of my UCs have a special presenter that access the above mentioned instance variable of the singleton class. This is what I get when trying to add a UC somewhere: 'System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'MVP.Model.EngineData' threw an exception. ---- System.InvalidCastException: [A]Engine cannot be cast to [B]Engine. • Rails: Single Table Inheritance and models subdirectories

  I have a card-game application which makes use of Single Table Inheritance. I have a class Card, and a database table cards with column type, and a number of subclasses of Card (including class Foo < Card and class Bar < Card, for the sake of argument). As it happens, Foo is a card from the original printing of the game, which Bar is a card from an expansion. In an attempt to rationalise my models, I have created a directory structure like so: app/ + models/ + card.rb + base_game/ + foo.rb + expansion/ + bar.rb And modified environment.rb to contain: Rails::Initializer.run do |config| config.load_paths += Dir["#{RAILS_ROOT}/app/models/**"] end However, when my reads a card from the database, Rails throws the following exception: ActiveRecord::SubclassNotFound (The single-table inheritance mechanism failed to locate the subclass: 'Foo'. This error is raised because the column 'type' is reserved for storing the class in case of inheritance. Please rename this column if you didn't intend it to be used for storing the inheritance class or overwrite Card.inheritance_column to use another column for that information.) Is it possible to make this work, or am I doomed to a flat directory structure?

• AVFoundation: Video to OpenGL texture working - How to play and sync audio?

  I've managed to load a video-track of a movie frame by frame into a OpenGL texture with AVFoundation. I followed the steps described in the answer here: iOS4: how do I use video file as an OpenGL texture? and took some code from the GLVideoFrame sample from WWDC2010 which can be downloaded here: http://bit.ly/cEf0rM How do I play the audio-track of the movie synchronously to the video. I think it would not be a good idea to play it in a separate player, but to use the audio-track of the same AVAsset. AVAssetTrack* audioTrack = [[asset tracksWithMediaType:AVMediaTypeAudio] objectAtIndex:0]; I retrieve a videoframe and it's timestamp in the CADisplayLink-callback via CMSampleBufferRef sampleBuffer = [self.readerOutput copyNextSampleBuffer]; CMTime timestamp = CMSampleBufferGetPresentationTimeStamp( sampleBuffer ); where readerOutput is of type AVAssetReaderTrackOutput* How to get the corresponding audio-samples? And how to play them? Edit: I've looked around a bit and I think, best would be to use AudioQueue from the AudioToolbox.framework using the approach described here: AVAssetReader and Audio Queue streaming problem There is also an audio-player in the AVFoundation: AVAudioPlayer. But I don't know exactly how I should pass data to it's initWithData-initializer which expects NSData. Furthermore I don't think it's the best choice for my case because a new AVAudioPlayer-instance would have to be created for every new chunk of audio samples, as I understand it. Any other suggestions? What's the best way to play the raw audio samples which i get from the AVAssetReaderTrackOutput?

  I'm able to load and access resx files in Simulator builds of my iPhone app built using MonoTouch.   In the imageviewer example, QPainter and QPrintDialog objects are defined and used as following: #ifndef QT_NO_PRINTER QPrinter printer; #endif and QPrintDialog dialog(&printer, this); A QPainter object is then initialized with QPrinter (printer). When I tried to use the same code in my function, it looks like: void imageviewer::print() { ... #ifdef QT_NO_PRINTER QPrinter printer(this); //ERROR 1 QPrintDialog dialog(&printer, this);//ERROR 2 and 3 if (dialog.exec()) //ERROR 4 { //do the painting } #endif } The errors are: 1. variable 'QPrinter printer' has initializer but incomplete type 2. 'QPrintDialog' was not declared in this scope 3. Expected ';' before 'dialog' 4. 'dialog' was not declared in this scope What I am notable to understand is why are these errors arising when I am using them in my code, but not in the example. As a friend pointed out, I made sure that I used the right #include files and made sure that 'printer' and 'dialog' were not touched anywhere else in the example.

Now what am i doing is that i get the uninstall string of the specific application from the registry and use System.Diagnostics.Process to run UninstallString. Dim proc As New Process() proc.StartInfo.FileName =UninstallString proc.Start() proc.WaitForExit() proc.Close() latter i found that it only work for straight file paths only, i mean with no command line argument like: C:\program files\someApp\uninstall.exe I make a list of list of all UninstallStrings of all application installed on my machine. i found few things like application installed using MSI, some were with rundll32 and few were with straight file path with some command argument like: My Silverlight SDK UninstallString, MSI Example MsiExec.exe /X{2012098D-EEE9-4769-8DD3-B038050854D4} My JetAudio UninstallString, RunDll32 Example RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll,LaunchSetup "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information{91F34319-08DE-457A-99C0-0BCDFAC145B9}\Setup.exe" -l0x9 My Google Chrome UninstallString, straight file path with command argument example "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\5.0.375.55\Installer\setup.exe" -uninstall The code i mentioned above does not work for these. i did some string parsing, separate two thing from UninstallString one is Filename and other is Arguments. like for MSI, filename is MSIEXEC.EXE and argument will be rest of the string, same for RunDLL32, same for straight file path with command argument. Now what am i facing is that, after every 2 or 3 days i come to know that this type of unistallstring is also not working. and why is that not working because it is a new type maybe abc C:\program files\someapp.exe -ddd so parse it too. is there any better way of doing that rather then parsing the string.

• How to create a rails staging environment in engineyard?

  I have a production instance in engineyard up and running well. I would like to create a new staging instance for internal testing. I cloned the existing production instance, changed Framework Environment to staging. I can deploy all the code to staging instance from Github. Engineyard reported the server is fully configured and ready. I have subdomain-fu in my Rails app, as I have some subdomain handling in my app. I set the subdomain initializer like this.... SubdomainFu.tld_sizes = {:development => 1, :test => 0, :production => 1, :staging => 2} As the production instance is using the domain xxxxx.com, I would like my staging instance use the domain staging.xxxxx.com. But I got an error when open this domain. Seems the app use xxxxx.com as domain but not the staging.xxxxx.com. I checked the engineyard database.yml. It use xxxxx_production database, I supposed it should be xxxxx_staging. Seems the engineyard instance is not set to staging environment, but just clone all the setting from production server. Does anyone have experience with this and can show me the way on how to fix it? Thanks. :)

• Generic allocator class without variadic templates?

  I am trying to write a generic allocator class that does not really release an object's memory when it is free()'d but holds it in a queue and returns a previously allocated object if a new one is requested. Now, what I can't wrap my head around is how to pass arguments to the object's constructor when using my allocator (at least without resorting to variadic templates, that is). The alloc() function i came up with looks like this: template <typename... T> inline T *alloc(const &T... args) { T *p; if (_free.empty()) { p = new T(args...); } else { p = _free.front(); _free.pop(); // to call the ctor of T, we need to first call its DTor p->~T(); p = new( p ) T(args...); } return p; } Still, I need the code to be compatible with today's C++ (and older versions of GCC that do not support variadic templates). Is there any other way to go about passing an arbitrary amount of arguments to the objects constructor?
