  • C++ Vector of vectors is messing with me

    - by xbonez
If I put this code in a .cpp file and run it, it runs just fine: #include <iostream> #include <vector> #include <string> using namespace std; typedef vector<int> row; typedef vector<row> myMatrix; void main() { //cout << endl << "test" << endl; myMatrix mat(2,2); mat[0][1] = 2; cout << endl << mat[0][1] << endl; } But, if I make a .h and a .cpp file with the .h file like this, it gives me boatloads of errors. #ifndef _grid_ #define _grid_ #include<iostream> #include<vector> #include<string> using namespace std; typedef vector<int> row; typedef vector<row> myMatrix; class grid { public: grid(); ~grid(); int getElement(unsigned int ri, unsigned int ci); bool setElement(unsigned int ri, unsigned int ci, unsigned int value); private: myMatrix sudoku_(9,9); }; #endif These are some of the errors I get: warning C4091: 'typedef ' : ignored on left of 'int' when no variable is declared error C4430: missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int

  • Using NumPy arrays as 2D mathematical vectors?

    - by CorundumGames
Right now I'm using lists as position, velocity, and acceleration vectors in my game. Is that a better option than using NumPy's arrays (not the standard library's) as vectors (with float data types)? I'm frequently adding vectors and changing their values directly, then placing the values in these vectors into a Pygame Rect. The vector is used for position (because Rects can't hold floats, so we can't go "between" pixels), and the Rect is used for rendering (because Pygame will only take in Rects for rendering positions).

  • C++ Directx 11 D3DXVECTOR3 doesn't allow me to devide it

    - by Miguel P
If i have a simple vector3 like this: D3DXVECTOR3 inversevector = D3DXVECTOR3( (pos+lookat_pos)); It works perfect! But let's say i wanted to multiply it by: Speed*(float) timeHandler.GetDelta() So: D3DXVECTOR3 inversevector = D3DXVECTOR3( (pos+lookat_pos) * Speed*(float) timeHandler.GetDelta()); Now this fails completely, i've used this snippet before, but for some wierd reason it simply won't work( The vector somehow leads x,y,z to 0 or almost, no idea why). Do you have any idea why?

  • Eclipse Juno: Can't find fast view panel

    - by otakun85
Version: Eclipse 4.2 Codename: Juno I don't see a fast view bar in eclipse 4.2. I can't rightclick on a view and enable fast view. The fast view options under General - Perspectives does nothing. Was the fast view feature removed or am I missing something? I've looked up at http://help.eclipse.org/juno/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.platform.doc.user%2Ftasks%2Ftasks-9b.htm , but that didn't helped either.

  • Strange problem with vectors.

    - by Catalin Dumitru
    I have a really strange problem with stl vectors in which the wrong destructor is called for the right object when I call the erase method if that makes any sense. My code looks something like this: for(vector<Category>::iterator iter = this->children.begin(); iter != this->children.end(); iter++) { if((*iter).item == item) { this->children.erase(iter); return; } ------------------------- } It's just a simple function that finds the element in the vector which has some item to be searched, and removes said element from the vector. My problem is than when the erase function is called, and thus the object which the iterator is pointing at is being destroyed, the wrong destructor is being called. More specific the destructor of the last element in the vector is being called, and not of the actual object being removed. Thus the memory is being removed from the wrong object, which will still be an element in the vector, and the actual object which is removed from the vector, still has all of it's memory intact. The costructor of the object looks like this: Category::Category(const Category &from) { this->name = from.name; for(vector<Category>::const_iterator iter = from.children.begin(); iter != from.children.end(); iter++) this->children.push_back((*iter)); this->item = new QTreeWidgetItem; } And the destructor Category::~Category() { this->children.clear(); if(this->item != NULL) { QTreeWidgetItem* parent = this->item->parent(); if(parent != NULL) parent->removeChild(this->item); delete this->item; } }

  • Routing protocols, distance vector vs link state

    - by Artem Barger
I'm trying to figure out the differences(pros/cons) between two routing protocols approach and I would be great-full for any help, advice and explanation. As far I can say that it seems like distance vector is more static and more local based routing, since it doesn't know the network state whereas link state is more aware of current states therefore it seems more natural to use it over distance-vector, but I have a feeling like I'm missing something. And I would be glad to here about more aspects and different issues I have to consider while choosing one of them.

Hi, Need Advice which sharing hosting will run Magento Community fast or some other not expensive solution. This website will not have a lot of users, I only need that it will run fast for 100-20 users in same time. The problem with magento is database design that make this system very slow , also other staff not the best. I had hostmonster.com and justhost.com for previous website but it wasn't fast enough for single user that not located in USA (my customer areas: Asia, Africa). each action that involve database takes a lot of time. • "Fast link detected" warning in GP management console

    - by ???????? ??????
There is a message that is shown in every report i make in Group Policy Results section of Group Policy Management Console, saying that "A fast link is detected". I followed the link in the waring, but after I read the page several times, I concluded, that I can ignore the warning. However, I noticed that the group policies are not applied when security filtering is used untl "gpupdate /sync" is executed... Is this related to the fast sync? In general, can somebody explain me the consequences of fast links briefly?

  • Blazing fast performance with RadGridView for Silverlight 4, RadDataPager and WCF RIA Services

In my previous post I’ve used almost 2 million records to the check the grid performance in WPF and I’ve decided to do the same for Silverlight 4 using WCF RIA Services. The grid again is bound completely codelessly using DomainDataSource and RadDataPager: <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <riaControls:DomainDataSource Name="orderDomainDataSource" QueryName="GetOrdersAndOrderDetails"> <riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> <my:NorthwindDomainContext /> </riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> </riaControls:DomainDataSource> <telerik:RadGridView Name="RadGridView1" IsReadOnly="True" AutoExpandGroups="True" ItemsSource="{Binding Data, ElementName=orderDomainDataSource}" /> <telerik:RadDataPager Grid.Row="1" PageSize="10" Source="{Binding Data, ElementName=orderDomainDataSource}" DisplayMode="All" /> </Grid> And the query again will return join between Northwind Orders and Order_Details: … public IQueryable<OrdersAndOrderDetails> GetOrdersAndOrderDetails() ...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • PonyEdit: It’s really fast

    - by Gary Pendergast
Over the past few months, a friend and I have been hard at work on a new breed of text editor that we call PonyEdit. If you’ve ever found yourself cursing over the lag of working on remote cloud servers, this is the editor for you. It’s not just another SFTP editor…Reading and writing files over SFTP is nothing new; dozens of text editors can do it. But it’s always slow, clunky and feels like the feature was bolted on as an afterthought. You’ll find yourself using separate shortcuts to open files locally vs remotely, and dealing with sometimes painful save times with every edit, no matter how minor.PonyEdit gets rid of this terribly slow method of working by connecting over SSH, and using edit streaming to push changes to the server in the background as-you-type.Head on over to PonyEdit.com to download a free trial, and let me know what you think! Oh, and…Stand by to have your mind blown.

  • Windows Azure Use Case: Fast Acquisitions

    - by BuckWoody
This is one in a series of posts on when and where to use a distributed architecture design in your organization's computing needs. You can find the main post here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/buckwoody/archive/2011/01/18/windows-azure-and-sql-azure-use-cases.aspx  Description: Many organizations absorb, take over or merge with other organizations. In these cases, one of the most difficult parts of the process is the merging or changing of the IT systems that the employees use to do their work, process payments, and even get paid. Normally this means that the two companies have disparate systems, and several approaches can be used to have the two organizations use technology between them. An organization may choose to retain both systems, and manage them separately. The advantage here is speed, and keeping the profit/loss sheets separate. Another choice is to slowly “sunset” or stop using one organization’s system, and cutting to the other system immediately or at a later date. Although a popular choice, one of the most difficult methods is to extract data and processes from one system and import it into the other. Employees at the transitioning system have to be trained on the new one, the data must be examined and cleansed, and there is inevitable disruption when this happens. Still another option is to integrate the systems. This may prove to be as much work as a transitional strategy, but may have less impact on the users or the balance sheet. Implementation: A distributed computing paradigm can be a good strategic solution to most of these strategies. Retaining both systems is made more simple by allowing the users at the second organization immediate access to the new system, because security accounts can be created quickly inside an application. There is no need to set up a VPN or any other connections than just to the Internet. Having the users stop using one system and start with the other is also simple in Windows Azure for the same reason. Extracting data to Azure holds the same limitations as an on-premise system, and may even be more problematic because of the large data transfers that might be required. In a distributed environment, you pay for the data transfer, so a mixed migration strategy is not recommended. However, if the data is slowly migrated over time with a defined cutover, this can be an effective strategy. If done properly, an integration strategy works very well for a distributed computing environment like Windows Azure. If the Azure code is architected as a series of services, then endpoints can expose the service into and out of not only the Azure platform, but internally as well. This is a form of the Hybrid Application use-case documented here. • VG.net 8.5 Released

    - by Frank Hileman
We have released version 8.5 of the VG.net vector graphics system. This release supports Visual Studio 2013. Companies who purchased a VG.net license after October 1, 2013, are eligible for a free upgrade. We will be sending you an email. There is one cosmetic problem which wasted our time, as we could not find a work around. It occurs when your display is set to a high DPI. You can see the problem in the image of the toolbox below, which uses a DPI of 125%, on Windows 7: The ToolboxItem class accepts only Bitmaps with a size of 16x16. We tried many sizes and many bitmap formats. As you can see, this tiny Bitmap is then scaled by the toolbox, and the scaling algorithm adds artifacts. This is an "improvement" Microsoft recently added to Visual Studio 2013.

  • Strategies for very fast delivery of webpages.

    - by Cherian
I run a website Cucumbertown with an initial pay load of nearly 9KB zipped. All my js is delayed loaded with requirejs and modernizer is the only exception. Now all my webpages are Nginx cached and only 10-15% hits go to the backend proxy. And the cache is invalidated by logged in users as proxy_cache_bypass. So for an anonymous user its nearly always a cache hit. I have some basic OS tuning with default via ip dev eth0 initcwnd 15 net.ipv4.tcp_slow_start_after_idle 0 Despite an all cache & large initcwnd my pages still take 2.5 – 3 seconds. I have a yslow score of And page speed at Are there strategies that can help deliver webpages even faster than this? Deliver pages at 1+ second time for 10KB payload? Notes: My servers run of a fairly good data center from Linode at Fremont.

  • Blazing fast performance with RadGridView for WPF 4.0 and Entity Framework 4.0

Just before our upcoming release of Q1 2010 SP1 (early next week), Ive decided to check how RadGridView for WPF will handle complex Entity Framework 4.0 query with almost 2 million records: public class MyDataContext{    IQueryable _Data;    public IQueryable Data    {        get        {            if (_Data == null)            {                var northwindEntities = new NorthwindEntities();                var queryable = from o in northwindEntities.Orders                               from od in northwindEntities.Order_Details                                select new                                {                                    od.OrderID,                                    od.ProductID,                                    od.UnitPrice,                                    od.Quantity,                                    od.Discount,                                    o.CustomerID,                                    o.EmployeeID,                                    o.OrderDate                                };                _Data = queryable.OrderBy(i => i.OrderID);            }             return _Data;        }    }} The grid is bound completely codeless in XAML using RadDataPager with PageSize set to 50: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:telerik="http://schemas.telerik.com/2008/xaml/presentation" Title="MainWindow" mc...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • wordpress sites are slow on shared hosting but plain html/css sites are fast

    - by sam
ive got a shared hosting account, unlimited sites, unlimited gb, unlimited bandwidth ect ect. Of course because its shared and a cheap one at that theres too many sites on each server and it all runs slow due to lack of ram. What ive found is that my plain html/css/js sites run an awful lot faster than my wordpress sites on this hosting and i was trying to work out why. Im not exactly sure how a browser sends a request for a page and the full process of request and delivery, but are my html sites running faster as they are just serving code to the browser, where as the wordpress sites are having to make calculations from the database to make each page before its delivered .. is that correct, or am i completly off course ?

  • Slow in the app, fast in SSMS

    - by DavidWimbush
Users complain about a timeout but when you run the exact same query in SSMS it runs in a flash. Sounds familiar? I've been baffled by this before. I worked out that I was getting a different query plan in SSMS because of different SET OPTIONS but, having dealt with that, I was then stuck with parameter sniffing as the cause of the timeout. I've read about that but still didn't really understand how to fix it. Erland Sommarskorg has published an excellent article (http://www.sommarskog.se/query-plan-mysteries.html) in which he clearly explains what's going on and provides tools and techniques to fix it. Highly recommended reading. Thanks, Erland.

  • ODI 12c - Getting up and running fast

    - by David Allan
Here's a quick A-B-C to show you how to quickly get up and running with ODI 12c, from getting the software to creating a repository via wizard or the command line, then installing an agent for running load plans and the like. A. Get the software from OTN and install studio. Check out this viewlet here for quickly doing this. B. Create a repository using the RCU, check out this viewlet here which uses the FMW Repository Creation Utility.  You can also silently create (and drop) a repository using the command line, this is really easy. .\rcu -silent -createRepository -connectString yourhost:1521:orcl.st-users.us.oracle.com -dbUser sys -dbRole sysdba -useSamePasswordForAllSchemaUsers true -schemaPrefix X -component ODI -component IAU  -component IAU_APPEND  -component IAU_VIEWER -component OPSS < passwords.txt where the passwords file contains info such as; sysdba_passwd newschema_passwd odi_user_passwd D workreposname workrepos_passwd  You can find details about the silent use of RCU here in the FMW documentation. C. Quickly create an agent for executing load plans and the like -  there is a great OBE for this, check it out here. If you are on your laptop and just wanting as minimal an agent as possible then this link is a must. With these three steps you are ready to get to the fun stuff! Check out more OBEs here - keep on the lookout for more!

  • Fast programmatic compare of "timetable" data

    - by Brendan Green
Consider train timetable data, where each service (or "run") has a data structure as such: public class TimeTable { public int Id {get;set;} public List<Run> Runs {get;set;} } public class Run { public List<Stop> Stops {get;set;} public int RunId {get;set;} } public class Stop { public int StationId {get;set;} public TimeSpan? StopTime {get;set;} public bool IsStop {get;set;} } We have a list of runs that operate against a particular line (the TimeTable class). Further, whilst we have a set collection of stations that are on a line, not all runs stop at all stations (that is, IsStop would be false, and StopTime would be null). Now, imagine that we have received the initial timetable, processed it, and loaded it into the above data structure. Once the initial load is complete, it is persisted into a database - the data structure is used only to load the timetable from its source and to persist it to the database. We are now receiving an updated timetable. The updated timetable may or may not have any changes to it - we don't know and are not told whether any changes are present. What I would like to do is perform a compare for each run in an efficient manner. I don't want to simply replace each run. Instead, I want to have a background task that runs periodically that downloads the updated timetable dataset, and then compares it to the current timetable. If differences are found, some action (not relevant to the question) will take place. I was initially thinking of some sort of checksum process, where I could, for example, load both runs (that is, the one from the new timetable received and the one that has been persisted to the database) into the data structure and then add up all the hour components of the StopTime, and all the minute components of the StopTime and compare the results (i.e. both the sum of Hours and sum of Minutes would be the same, and differences introduced if a stop time is changed, a stop deleted or a new stop added). Would that be a valid way to check for differences, or is there a better way to approach this problem? I can see a problem that, for example, one stop is changed to be 2 minutes earlier, and another changed to be 2 minutes later would have a net zero change. Or am I over thinking this, and would it just be simpler to brute check all stops to ensure that The updated run stops at the same stations; and Each stop is at the same time
