    I removed nginx from startup by running: $ sudo update-rc.d -f nginx disable I get the below output: update-rc.d: using dependency based boot sequencing insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (empty) of script `nginx' overrides LSB defaults (2 3 4 5). insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 1 2 3 4 5 6) of script `nginx' overrides LSB defaults (0 1 6). Are these harmless warnings or is there something I should do?

    I find that the 2 buttoms menu from the evince v3.10.0 are not really useful. Why did ubuntu NOT re add an menubar?. It would have been looking better in unity ! The unity top panel has enough space for an normal program menu. Here is an screenshot of what i mean: (The program works already in ubuntu 13.10 with unity or cinnamon fine. Some little compiler warnings but nothing more) Example in Cinnamon or in unity

    I'm having a lot of problems uploading my showdown project to a PPA. I've setup correctly PGP keys and my public ssh key to launchpad.     I added a FB Like button to my Wordpress template, and when I click Like, I receive an error, which pops up and says: There was an error liking the page. If you are the page owner, please try running your page through the linter on the Facebook devsite (https://developers.facebook.com/tools/lint/) and fixing any errors. The Lint Checker (now) gives no Error or Warnings, after I removed a duplicate og:description tag. Why is it not working?

  • Turn off "unknown publisher" message for older Windows application?

    Anyone know how to turn off or suppress the "unknown publisher" message for a specific application? The application is a legacy version of Delphi that we use to update a LOB application. I thought clicking, run as administrator would fix this and I don't want to turn off UAC entirely for security safety reasons. Anyone know how to tell Windows 7 that Borland or at least delphi.exe is a trusted application?

    i have a web site for download mobile files and there many users in my web site. sometimes i have the error below : HTTP Error 503 - Service is unavailable 1-so why this error happens and what is that mean? 2-as i know appache free up itself when it's oveloaded, but what about iis? how can i put some limitations in my server (i have remote access to my server) for prevent this error happening? a.is limitation of dowload's speed efficient for prevent that error's occur? how can i do that? is squid useful for this job or i can do that with another iis extension. b.is limitation of download's Bandwidth efficient for prevent that error's occur? how can i do that (with iis or another extension)? in right side of iis - configure area - i found some limits. what do those limits mean and can i use them for keep my server alive all the time?   • apache pointing to the wrong version of python on ubuntu how do I change?

    I am setting up a flask application on and Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS EC2 instance and everything seemed to be working well (i.e. I could get to the webpage via the publicly available url) until I tried to import a module (e.g. numpy) and realised the apache python differs from the one I used to compile the mod_wsgi and also the one I am using I am running apache2. The apache2 logs show the warnings (specifically the last line shows the path hasnt changed): [warn] mod_wsgi: Compiled for Python/2.7.5. [warn] mod_wsgi: Runtime using Python/2.7.3.   • puppet master --compile logs errors to stdout

    I see a bug about this that was accepted and then closed a year ago: http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/3670 but I'm using puppet 2.7.14 and am getting the same issue. I'm trying to use "puppet solo" (i.e. just running puppet apply on each server to be configured) as I only have 2 or 3 servers in this project and adding another server as a puppetmaster would be completely overkill. Unless I'm mistaken, the best way to apply a node manually to a server is to do: puppet master --compile=mynode > catalog.json puppet apply --catalog catalog.json But the puppet master command outputs a couple of warnings and notices to stdout, mixed in with the desired json content. And it uses colored output so I can't just pipe it through egrep -v '^warning:' EDIT: I guess it's not too big of a deal to use grep - since puppet 2.7 pretty-prints the actual content and the warnings don't ever start with spaces, piping the output through egrep '^( |{|})' works So my questions are basically: Is there a better way than this to apply a puppet node without using a puppetmaster? I can't really find any good references online to using puppet without a puppetmaster, even though that seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do for a small project. Is there a setting or flag that I'm missing that will get puppet master to stop being an asshole and send its errors to stderr instead of stdout? Or do I really have to turn off color logging, then grep to exclude warning: and notice: lines?

  • Service Unavailable - App Pool disabled error...anyone know why?

    Hi guys A small number of our sites intermediately experience an error that is a mystery to us. Our set up is: Windows Server 2003 IIS6 .NET 3.5 We have about 35 Websites running on IIS Each site has it's own App Pool Each App Pool has the identity: Network Service The symptom is: The Application Pool for a site stops, and when you browse to the site, you only see: SERVICE UNAVAILABLE In the Event Logs, we have one Error, that looks like this: Application pool 'AppPool1' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool. And we have several Warnings leading up to the error, that look like this (note: the warnings look the same, except for the process id): A process serving application pool 'AppPool1' suffered a fatal communication error with the World Wide Web Publishing Service. The process id was '292'. The data field contains the error number. What's causing this? As I said, it doeasn't happen very often....the last time was about 6 months ago...and it usually happens with the same site/App pool. Any ideas? cheers!

  • Why does "commit" appear in the mysql slow query log?

    In our MySQL slow query logs I often see lines that just say "COMMIT". What causes a commit to take time? Another way to ask this question is: "How can I reproduce getting a slow commit; statement with some test queries?" From my investigation so far I have found that if there is a slow query within a transaction, then it is the slow query that gets output into the slow log, not the commit itself. Testing In mysql command line client: mysql begin; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql UPDATE members SET myfield=benchmark(9999999, md5('This is to slow down the update')) WHERE id = 21560; Query OK, 0 rows affected (2.32 sec) Rows matched: 1 Changed: 0 Warnings: 0 At this point (before the commit) the UPDATE is already in the slow log. mysql commit; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.01 sec) The commit happens fast, it never appeared in the slow log. I also tried a UPDATE which changes a large amount of data but again it was the UPDATE that was slow not the COMMIT. However, I can reproduce a slow ROLLBACK that takes 46s and gets output to the slow log: mysql begin; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql UPDATE members SET myfield=CONCAT(myfield,'TEST'); Query OK, 481446 rows affected (53.31 sec) Rows matched: 481446 Changed: 481446 Warnings: 0 mysql rollback; Query OK, 0 rows affected (46.09 sec) I understand why rollback has a lot of work to do and therefore takes some time. But I'm still struggling to understand the COMMIT situation - i.e. why it might take a while.

  • Installing Silverstripe on 000webhost.com (free web host)

    Hi I'm trying to learn how to work Silverstripe so I extracted the tar file to my free hosting account. I then went on install.php and edited the permissions to meet the requirements set out in install.php but I still get two warnings from the 'webserver configuration' section: I can't tell what webserver you are running. Without Apache I can't tell if mod_rewrite is enabled. I can't tell whether mod_rewrite is running. You may need to configure a rewriting rule yourself. I looked in phpinfo() and mod_rewrite appears to be installed. I contacted the web host and they said it was to do with virtual directory paths, and I should add 'RewriteBase /' to the top of my .htaccess file in the public_html directory. However I did this and still had the same problem. The install.php script says that I can install it even with these warnings but when I press 'install' it just refreshes the install.php page. It doesn't even overwrite the .htaccess file. 000webhost.com says they have successfully installed Silverstripe on their user accounts without much configuration but I can't seem to find out how. EDIT: I managed to get to the next page but now there is another warning which is stopping it installing: Friendly URLs are not working. This is most likely because mod_rewrite isn't configuredcorrectly on your site.   • Driver issue for 7850 HD Diamond Windows 7

    I have an issue with windows 7 implementing the drivers ati provides for my 7850 HD Diamond video card. The video card is plugged in correctly to the PCIE 2.0 slots of my motherboard (p6t asus) with more then enough power. Fortunately the card works as I have my monitor plugged into the card itself and I can see just fine. However windows 7 does not replace the standard vga default microsoft driver with catalyst drivers that I've tried installing from online as well as the CD. Every time I install the drivers using Catalyst Install manager it always finishes with "Install complete(Warnings occured)". I then see the warnings it has which it instead reports that it successfully installed the SDK, Catalyst Install Manager, and HDMI/AUDIO packages. When I check my device manager after that, the display adapter still shows as standard vga and that its still using microsoft default display adapter. Now this current card is replacing an old card of mine which is the ATI 4890 HD which works beautifully. In fact for the old card to work, all I need to do is go to device manager and right click on standard vga - click update driver and windows 7 magically finds the correct driver to install and everything is good. Not so with the new card. I've even went into my regedits and uninstalled every bit of ati driver software before reinstalling my new card. Nothing's worked thus far. I've already exchanged my card out once and talked to customer support from my motherboard, microsoft, and ati all blaming the other. Please help me out!!

  • Does Windows 7 Authenticate Cached Credentials on Startup

    Problem I have a Windows domain user account that gets automatically locked-out semi-regularly. Troubleshooting Thus Far The only rule on the domain that should automatically lock an account is too many failed login attempts. I do not think anyone nefarious is trying to access my account. The problem started occurring after changing my password so I think it's a stored credential problem. Further to that, in the Event Viewer's System log I found Warnings from Security-Kerberos that says: The password stored in Credential Manager is invalid. This might be caused by the user changing the password from this computer or a different computer. To resolve this error, open Credential Manager in Control Panel, and reenter the password for the credential mydomain\myuser. I checked the Credential Manager and all it has are a few TERMSRV/servername credentials stored by Remote Desktop. I know which stored credential was incorrect, but it was stored for Remote Desktop access to a specific machine and was not being used (at least not by me) at the time of the warnings. The Security-Kerberos warning appears when the system was starting up (after a Windows Update reboot) and also appeared earlier this morning when nobody was logged into the machine. Clarification after SnOrfus answer: There was 1 set of invalid credentials that was stored for a terminal server. The rest of the credentials are known to be valid (used often & recently without issues). I logged on to the domain this morning without issue. I then ran windows update which rebooted the computer. After the restart, I couldn't log in (due to account being locked out). After unlocking & logging on to the domain, I checked Event Viewer which showed a problem with credentials after restarting. Since the only stored credentials (according to Credential Manager) are for terminal servers, why would there be a Credential problem on restart when remote desktop was not being used? Question Does anyone know if Windows 7 "randomly" checks the authentication of cached credentials?

It seems fairly obvious that there is a difference in the buffer size between Linux and OS X, but I don't know how to set it OS X (or what the possible negative side effects might be).

    I found a GPL-ed SIP client for Mac, Blink. I'd like to build it from source since the binaries are only available as paid download. Just FYI i'm studying programming at university but have no experience in building complex application from source. After downloading the content of the repository i opened the Xcode project and tried to build on OS X 10.7, Xcode 4.2.1. Unfortunately the build fail with 1 error and many warnings Most of the warnings are like this: Attribute Unavailable: Custom Identifiers in Interface Builder versions prior to 3.2 The error message is: Apple Mach-O Linker (ld) Error Command /Developer/usr/bin/clang failed with exit code 1 preceded by the warning Apple Mach-O Linker (ld) Warning directory not found for option '-L/Users/Sergio/Downloads/Blink/devel.ag-projects.com/repositories/public/blink-cocoa/Distribution/Frameworks' I notice that in the list of required files i have this files missing: Dependencies/Frameworks libgcrypt.11.6.0.dylib libgcrypt.11.dylib libgnutls-extra.26.dylib libgnutls.26.dylib libgpg-error.0.dylib libintl.8.dylib liblzo.1.dylib libtasn1.3.dylib Dependencies/Resources lib Frameworks/Linked Frameworks Sparkle.framework Products Blink.app It should be possible to download these files somewhere. Unfortunately googling did not help. There's no documentation on the project site.

It seems fairly obvious that there is a difference in the buffer size between Linux and OS X, but I don't know how to set it OS X (or what the possible negative side effects might be).
