  • Trouble Shoot JavaScript Function in IE

    So this function works fine in geko and webkit browsers, but not IE7. I've busted my brain trying to spot the issue. Anything stick out for you? Basic premise is you pass in a data object (in this case a response from jQuery's $.getJSON) we check for a response code, set the notification's class, append a layer and show it to the user.   • Playing around with Eclipse features - Project files are now hidden?

    I don't even remember how, but somehow I managed to make all of my project's source files hidden in Eclipse's Package and Project Explorer panels. Go figure. 'Show Filtered Children (alt+click)' temporarily reveals the files, and only in Package Explorer can I double-click to reopen them from this view. They go back into hiding after I select another item, though. Plus, now I'm getting other annoyances, such as all of the folded non-hidden trees altogether expanding when I click on any item, and the entire file folder tree of my project now being shown in these panels (including my .svn subversion folders... which shouldn't be any of Eclipse's business, presently). Long story short, my Package/Project Explorers' just blew up on me, and I want to know how to fix this. Thanks in advance. P.S. What's a good guide I can use to learn my way around this silly contraption, anyway?

  • Running bundle install fails trying to remote fetch from rubygems.org/quick/Marshal...

    I'm getting a strange error when doing bundle install: $ bundle install Fetching source index for http://rubygems.org/ rvm/rubies/ree-1.8.7-2010.02/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/remote_fetcher.rb:304 :in `open_uri_or_path': bad response Not Found 404 (http://rubygems.org/quick/Marshal.4.8/resque-scheduler-1.09.7.gemspec.rz) (Gem::RemoteFetcher::FetchError) I've tried bundle update, gem source -c, gem update --system, gem cleanup, etc etc. Nothing seems to solve this. I notice that the URL beginning with http://rubygems.org/quick does seem to be a 404 -- I don't think that's any problem with my network, though if that's reachable for anyone else then that would be a simple explanation for my problem.   • unexpected margin with very simple html

    I have a very simple html. The red div is inside the blue div and has a 10 px top margin. On non-ie browsers, the blue box is 10 px apart from the top of viewport and the red div is at the very top of the blue div. What I expect is the ie behavior: red div must be 10 px apart from the top of the blue div. Why does non-ie browsers render like this? (I suppose the wrong behavior is the IE's but why?)   • Howto troubleshoot vb6 dll 800a01ad error in c# application

    I have a dll that I created from a VB6 project that I am now using in a c# project. This has worked before but now when I try to return to the c# project to fix a bug, the program get a COMException stating roughly translated: Could not create an instance of COM-component with CLSID {085E3494-9F78-47D5-B0E6-FA460FD3CBED} from IClassFactory because of the following error: 800a01ad. So I try to create a new empty c# project with only one line in the main function: OurNamespace.OurClass foo = new OurNamespace.OurClass(); Which fails with the same error. I have registered the dll but that did not change the outcome of the problem. The problem only occurs on the machine I am currently at, still I'm interested to understand the problem so that I know how to fix it if it occurs on a customers computer.

  • Setting up java configurations in eclipse. multiple .param files

    I'm going to be using ECJ for doing genetic programming and I haven't touched java in years. I'm working on setting up the eclipse environment and I'm catching a few snags. The ECJ source has several packages, and several sample programs come along with it. I ran one sample program (called tutorial1) by going to the run configurations and adding -file pathToParamsFile to the program arguments. This made it point to the params file of that tutorial and run that sample. In a new example I am testing (from the package gui) there are TWO params files. I tried pointing to just one param file and a program ran in the console, but there was supposed to be a GUI which did not load. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greaaatly appreciated.

  • Help! I got a runaway PHP script. My server is down.

    I got a PHP script that is looping and will continue to do so for about another hour. How do I stop it. The script explicitly overrides the time out and the memory buffer. It's on a shared hosting server with cPanel installed. The entire website is down until the script completes. I had added a usleep(100000) statement, but it doesn't appear to work.

  • How do you fix issues with the debugger for the Android plug-in for Eclipse not attaching?

    I have been trying to program something for the Android mobile phone, using Eclipse and the Android plug-in for that IDE, and my debugger used to attach just fine. But then it has suddenly started having consistent issues attaching. I just get that message about how the process is waiting for the debugger attach, and then it just won't. What determines whether the attachment glitches so seems to have something to do with what the code is that I'm trying to debug, as it seems to be drastically more of an issue with some versions of my code than with others (on the same app). How do I fix this? Now before you answer, please understand that I have researched this issue already. I have found a couple of solutions that have worked with other people, but which do not work for me. One of which is setting the debuggable property in the main manifest file as true, and the other is going into Dev Tools and into some settings menu, and from there selecting the process and essentially saying to the fake phone, "Debug this process". Neither has really worked. Any other ideas? And just in case...I've run into one blasted technical issue like this after another trying to program for that stupid phone. And I'm not the only one who's having these issues; when I go online to research these issues, it is always very easy for me to find many people who have the same issues, and who are having to use the shottiest, sloppiest, most "ghetto" solutions to work around these issues. I know that many people have created good applications for that phone, but I don't see how I'm supposed to do that when the SDK and the plug-in just don't work half the time. Does anybody know how I may put all this trash behind me, once and for all? Thanks for your answers to either question!

  • Scapy install issues. Nothing seems to actually be installed?

    I have an apple computer running Leopard with python 2.6. I downloaded the latest version of scapy and ran "python setup.py install". All went according to plan. Now, when I try to run it in interactive mode by just typing "scapy", it throws a bunch of errors. What gives! Just in case, here is the FULL error message..   • SQL query duration is longer for smaller dataset?

    I received reports that a my report generating application was not working. After my initial investigation, I found that the SQL transaction was timing out. I'm mystified as to why the query for a smaller selection of items would take so much longer to return results. Quick query (averages 4 seconds to return): SELECT * FROM Payroll WHERE LINEDATE >= '04-17-2010'AND LINEDATE <= '04-24-2010' ORDER BY 'EMPLYEE_NUM' ASC, 'OP_CODE' ASC, 'LINEDATE' ASC Long query (averages 1 minute 20 seconds to return): SELECT * FROM Payroll WHERE LINEDATE >= '04-18-2010'AND LINEDATE <= '04-24-2010' ORDER BY 'EMPLYEE_NUM' ASC, 'OP_CODE' ASC, 'LINEDATE' ASC I could simply increase the timeout on the SqlCommand, but it doesn't change the fact the query is taking longer than it should. Why would requesting a subset of the items take longer than the query that returns more data? How can I optimize this query?

  • Very strange client/browser issue

    One of our clients has logged a very strange issue with us- We launched a preview for their website, but when it's viewed on their main PC, peculiar things start to happen... At first, the stylesheet wasn't being found, and so accessing any page resulted in one void of all styles. We sent them a direct link to the stylesheet, which was viewable from all our computers in the office - but gave a "File Not Found" error on their side. I then deleted the file, and replaced it with a new blank file, which he could then access. Copy-pasted screen.css contents into this file, and he could then view it fine, and stylesheets magically worked on the site again. Now, he can view styles, but not the referenced header images. The strange thing is that this problem doesn't exist on any other PC we've tested, or on any other site on the problem computer, but obviously we'd like our client's site to work for them. The strange thing is, they can view other sites of ours, hosted on the same server, built on top of the same CMS (and so most of the files are the same) without problem - but are getting 404s for files that most definitely do exist. Stylesheets are not turned off, nor is anything specifically deactivated on their browser (as other sites are fine) Reloading with CTRL+F5 doesn't help The client is using the latest version of firefox Any ideas here on what to try / how to narrow the problem down?

  • Running an RMI registry on one computer and connecting to it from another

    Hello. I am doing a student assignment, using java RMI. I've programmed a simple RMI-server application that provides method which return some strings to the client. When I start the server on localhost and connect to it by client on the same computer, everything goes well. However, I am not able to do this between two computers on home network. The computers both have no trouble of connecting by a simple C program with similar functionality, so I guess the problem is with JVM here. I am binding the class to rmiregistry with try{ ComputeImpl R = new ComputeImpl(); Naming.rebind("rmi://localhost/ComputeService",R); } catch(Exception e){ System.out.println("Trouble: " +e); } And I'm doing the lookup for RMI registry in the client application with providing the argument while launching the application: StringBuffer rmi_address = new StringBuffer(); rmi_address.append("rmi://").append(args[1]).append("/ComputeService"); Compute R = (Compute) Naming.lookup(rmi_address.toString()); Is the problem with my code or with JVM?   • jQuery code not executing when DOM is ready

    I have written a simple jQuery script that changes the hash tag of a link. I do this because I am using IntenseDebate comments in Wordpress but the comment link still links replaced id of the old comments. I'm using jQuery so that if javascript is enabled, the user can click on the comments link and it will take them to the IntenseDebate comments. If its not enabled it will take them to the traditional comments (because IntenseDebate requires javascript to function). The issue I'm having lies in this script to change the hash tag at the end of the link. Currently the URL "someurl.com/#respond" but I need the script to change it to "someurl.com/#comments". What is happening is that the script doesn't work, however I believe my syntax is correct so I decided to try copying and pasting the code into Firebug's console and the code executed perfectly. I could see that the link I was trying to change was now correct, and I could click on it and it worked as I desired. So what I don't understand is why the code is not executing when it is supposed to. I am using $(document).ready() and I have other jQuery on the page that executes just fine. I even tested it on a simple HTML page away from all the problems that might be caused by Wordpress and I received the same result. Does anyone know why this might be happening?     I am having trouble getting the Bake console. I am on windows running xampp. I'm doing the IBM cakphp tutorial. Here is my directory: C:\\ xampp htdocs ibm2(a test project--orginally called cakephp) app cake vendors (etc) It says to To use Bake, cd into the /webroot/app directory and launch the Cake Console: ../cake/console/cake bake. You should be presented with a screen that looks like Figure 2. So I write in my command prompt till I am at: C:\xampp\htdocs\ibm2\app Then I type ../cake/console/cake bake but I get this error: '..' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. What am I doing wrong? I use the window's command prompt

  • Can you tell me why my webpage displays differently in IE and how to fix it.

    I've been browsing through all of the CSS related cross-browser questions trying to troubleshoot my IE styling issues with no luck. Can anyone tell me how to fix my homepage styles so that it displays the same in IE as it currently does in Firefox? I've used Firebug (probably why it looks good in Firefox) but I can't find any tools for IE that will let me change the stylesheet real time. I'm just as interested in the process of figuring out this answer as I am in the answer itself so posting the steps you took to figure it out would be beneficial. (want to be able to do this myself next time!!!) Website is AppQandA.com. Scroll down to the bottom in IE and notice the footer. It's not like this on every page.....just the main page and the questions page.

  • ftp connects but files aren't visible browsing

    Hello If this should be on that other site, please don't shoot me, as I can't remember the name or the url. I have an ftp account in Dreamweaver that connects to the remote site and appears to be uploading files as normal. But when I browse to the location I can't see any new files or changes to the index page. (I've uploaded index.php and connect.php). I'm getting a 404 page. I suspect the host directory is wrong, but looking at the file tree, I can't see the folder I'm supposed to be using, so I'm uploading to the apparent site root. Any guidance on this?

  • the '.htaccess' file won't work on my apache server

    Hi, I have an Apache server installed on my windows machine using XAMPP. Now I'm trying to use a premade .htaccess file for one of my projects, but it doesn't seem to be seeing it. The project just totally ignores it, even though I've enabled mod_rewrite. Any idea how I can troubleshoot this? I can't fix it if it just doesn't work and doesn't show me any errors. Appreciate your help.

    I'm trying to edit a legacy wss3 sharepoint site. Messing around with a 700+ code lines aspx page I got a "The server tag is not well formed." error on sharepoint and The ?content=1 trick does not work. Anyone has a tip on how to get to the line that's causing the problem? I'm expecting something like the aspnet ysod, at least that's usefull. If it's worth something, I have access to the actual server.
