  • WPF Application Slow Unresponsive when demonstrating using remote sharing software

    After spending 14 hours on this I think its time to share my woes and see if anyone has experienced this issue before. Ill describe the issue and tests I have done to rule out certain things. Ok so I have a WPF application which loads in data from an SQL database. I am using DevExpress Components for datagrids, ribbons etc.. and FluentNhibernate to provide a session for database operations. I am also using log4net to log events to a textfile. Using the application on my laptop with SQL Express 2008 works fine.. the application starts up, retrieves 1000 records and I can tab through the controls on the ribbon. Now, I decided to demo the application to a third party and used remote login/sharing software online to share my desktop with the other person so as I could load the application on my laptop and they could view me using the application. Now, the application takes approx 45 seconds to load... 30 seconds with a blank database where as, when im not sharing out my screen using the online software the application loads in about 7-10 seconds. As well as that, even using the controls in the application during the demo were very sticky, slow and unresponsive. During the sharing session though however I was able to use other applications without any problems.. everything else worked fine. But I cannot understand how my application works ok under normal conditions , even browsing the net at the same time etc... BUT totally fails to perform correctly when I am sharing a session with another user... the CPU usage shot up to 100% too at times when the application was trying to start up... Please see below a list of 3rd party dlls I am using as references in my project. DevExpress dlls FluidKit PixelLab.WPF PixelLab.Common Galasoft WPF Kit FluentNHibernate NHibernate Nhibernate.ByteCode.Castle Skype4ComLib TXTEXTControl log4net LinqKit All of these DLLs are in the output folder with the application dlls created from the class assemblys in the project.   • set current user in asp.net mvc

    Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the best way to do it, but I want to keep a user object alive during all requests of the current user. From reading several resources I learned that you should create your own IPrinciple which holds this. But I don't want to trigger the database every authentication request. Any recommendations on how to handle this? For example, it wants me to have Cache-control: no-cache="set-cookie" in addition to Cache-control: no-cache I have been setting the latter with the following line in my C# codebehind: Response.CacheControl = "no-cache"; Is there a special way to indicate both directives at once? Do I just separate them with a semicolon?

    From within the setup_app function (websetup.py) of a pylons i18n application, which is making use of a db, I was trying to initiate multilingual content to be inserted into the db.   • Hibernate error: cannot resolve table

    I'm trying to make work the example from hibernate reference. I've got simple table Pupil with id, name and age fields. I've created correct (as I think) java-class for it according to all java-beans rules. I've created configuration file - hibernate.cfg.xml, just like in the example from reference. I've created hibernate mapping for one class Pupil, and here is the error occured. <hibernate-mapping> <class name="Pupil" table="pupils"> ... </class> </hibernate-mapping> table="pupils" is red in my IDE and I see message "cannot resolve table pupils". I've also founded very strange note in reference which says that most users fail with the same problem trying to run the example. Ah.. I'm very angry with this example.. IMHO if authors know that there is such problem they should add some information about it. But, how should I fix it? I don't want to deal with Ant here and with other instruments used in example. I'm using MySql 5.0, but I think it doesn't matter.   • Isn't fb_sig_friends supposed to be there?

    According to the docs, Facebook is supposed to send both fb_sig_canvas_user and fb_sig_friends for a canvas application. Sadly, I only get fb_sig_canvas_user and NOT fb_sig_friends. Is there anything I have to do to get this parameter? Or is there any other way to retrieve the friends of the visiting (not-yet-authorized) user, without the need of a session key (API throws exception with message "Requires user session")? And yes, _fb_fromhash is present in the request (coming to the canvas app. from a user's application tab).

  • How to override j_security_check in glassfish?

    I'm currently using FORM based authentication in glassfish v2.1 to log users in and it works fine. I want to switch to ProgrammaticLogin and I want to be able to get the initially requested URL (i.e. before redirecting to login page) and use it in my programmatic login code so that the user is redirected back to the requested page after authentication. I've seen the source code for j_security_check - in my case that's FormAuthenticator (catalina codebase) and it saves the initial request in a SavedRequest object in the session but that session is a StandardSession rather than HttpSession so there's no direct way to access it. Or should I change the authentication mechanism from FORM to something else? Thanks!

    I'm having a hard time understanding how the CakePHP admin system works. Should all controllers who has an action which requires login include AuthComponent or just the one who handles the login/logout? Let's say I want to protect the add action of a controller. First I create admin_add() in the controller and then in the beforeFilter() method I check if $this->Session->check('Auth.User') is set a redirect based on this? Turns out it was better to just controll this with $this->Auth->allow() What is the easiest way to return to the URL the user was trying to access? Is there a better way than setting a session variable? Turns out it does this automagically :) If someone has a good tutorial for this I would happily read it :) I've already read this tutorial but I found it to be a little to basic and the CakePHP-docs are not that great on this topic either.

    This may be a long shot question.. I am working on an application that is based on JSP/Javascript only (without a Web framework!) Is there a way to have depencency injection for JSP beans? By jsp beans I mean beans defined like this <jsp:useBean id="cart" scope="session" class="session.Carts" /> Is there a way/library/hack to intercept the bean creation so that when "cart" is referenced for the first time, some some of injection takes place? Can I define somewhere a "listener" for JSP beans (like you can do for JSF beans for example)? I am free to do anything I want in the back-end, but I cannot add a web framework in the front-end (Don't ask!)

  • Fleunt NHibernate not working outside of nunit test fixtures

    Okay, here is my problem... I created a Data Layer using the RTM Fluent Nhibernate. My create session code looks like this: _session = Fluently.Configure(). Database(SQLiteConfiguration.Standard.UsingFile("Data.s3db")) .Mappings( m => { m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<ProductMap>(); m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<ProductLogMap>(); }) .ExposeConfiguration(BuildSchema) .BuildSessionFactory(); When I reference the module in a test project, then create a test fixture that looks something like this: [Test] public void CanAddProduct() { var product = new Product {Code = "9", Name = "Test 9"}; IProductRepository repository = new ProductRepository(); repository.AddProduct(product); using (ISession session = OrmHelper.OpenSession()) { var fromDb = session.Get<Product>(product.Id); Assert.IsNotNull(fromDb); Assert.AreNotSame(fromDb, product); Assert.AreEqual(fromDb.Id, product.Id); } My tests pass. When I open up the created SQLite DB, the new Product with Code 9 is in it. the tables for Product and ProductLog are there. Now, when I create a new console application, and reference the same library, do something like this: Product product = new Product() {Code = "10", Name = "Hello"}; IProductRepository repository = new ProductRepository(); repository.AddProduct(product); Console.WriteLine(product.Id); Console.ReadLine(); It doesn't work. I actually get pretty nasty exception chain. To save you lots of head aches, here is the summary: Top Level exception: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more detail.\r\n\r\n The PotentialReasons collection is empty The Inner exception: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. Ensure that the assembly System.Data.SQLite is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Both the unit test library and the console application reference the exact same version of System.Data.SQLite. Both projects have the exact same DLLs in the debug folder. I even tried copying SQLite DB the unit test library created into the debug directory of the console app, and removed the build schema lines and it still fails If anyone can help me figure out why this won't work outside of my unit tests it would be greatly appreciated. This crazy bug has me at a stand still.

Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) I tried open SQL Server 2008 Configuration Manager and enable SQL Server Browser service (Logon as:NT Authority/Local Service) but it stills error.
