• How to marshal structs with unknown length string fields in C#

  Hi all, I get an array of bytes, I need to unmarshal it to C# struct. I know the type of the struct, it has some strings fields. The strings in the byte array appears as so: two first bytes are the length of the string, then the string itself. I don;t know the length of the strings. I do know that its Unicode! • how have defined connection within function for pdo communication with DB

  hey guys I just started trying to convert my query structure to PDO and I have come across a weird problem. When I call a pdo query connection within a function and the connection is included outside the function, the connection becomes undefined. Anyone know what I am doing wrong here? • jQuery Ajax form submit, to call php login script

  Thanks for checking out my problem... I'm having trouble submitting a login form via Ajax for a php script to run and return a new set of html items which will be replacing the HTML in #userlinks.... heres what I have so far $("#login_form").submit(function() { return false; }); $('#login_button').click(function(event) { $form = $(this).parent("form"); $.post($form.attr("action"), $form.serialize(), function(data){ $('#userlinks').html(data); }); }); The php script checks for post data of username && password, yet all I'm getting is a page refresh and no changes. Nothing returns unless I turn login_button into a link and change the script a bit... Any help would be appreciated!

  Hi guys! I need some help with user settings mechanism for my Yii-based application. I've created the following db structure to store user settings: table user with the following fields id | username | email | etc. table settingslist (to store a list of all possible settings with descriptions) with the following fields id | code | name | description table settings (to store all user settings) with the following fields id | userid | settingslistcode | value Now I'm stuck with the form which allows user to change his settings. I had to deal before with the regular models (i.e. for posts, comments, etc.) where every new model had only one row in the database (Post model - id | title | body |) with the certain amount of attributes (fields of the table). But now I need to store user settings in 10-15 rows and I don't know how to apply Yii model mechanism to work with this, so I can retrieve those settings in a single form (so user could change his preferences). Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm trying to move from using SQL Reporting Services to a Crystal Reports Web App. I've gotten some reports to design properly because they are simple cross-tab reports that require nothing special. I'm running into a little problem of a user matrix report. Here's how the report looks on SQL Reporting Services: group1 group2 group3 username1 first1 last1 title1 X X username2 first2 last2 title2 X X 2 1 1 Normally in VS2008 with a SQL rdl, I would right click on the row and Insert Column. However, i don't see a way to do this in Crystal Reports. I've tried setting up multiple row groups, but that adds mutliple groupings like: group1 Total ... Username Total ... first Total ... last ...

• WCF Web Services - Multiple Hop impersonation on the same server

  Hi Folks I have 3 web services, all located on the same server. My Client calls Service A, which impersonates the client to call Service B, and all is well. Now, I want to impersonate the caller of service B (which is my username) to call Service C. When I use the same technique as before (AllowedImpersonationLevel = Impersonate, user.Impersonate()), The user doesnt get passed to service C. Instead, Service C sees the user as the user I am running it under in IIS. Is there anything special I need to do to get this working? Is this a delegation issue? • git global config issue

  Somehow, my global git (msysgit) settings for user.name and user.email (and god knows what else) are set to a recent ex-colleague's details. When I try and change them i get could not commit to u://.gitconfig If I try and create u://.gitconfig through git bash then i get permission denied. C:\Users\<My Username>\ contains no references to git. I've tried uninstalling, searching the registry and my file system for all references to git and I can't find any (windows file search is crap though). What the hell is going on? Why even after reinstalling are this guys details still the global settings??? Thanks

  Hello I am working on internal PHP application where users login only from our network (we are on dedicated IP and application is checking $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] and if is match our IP go thru if not - Bye However how I can identify from which station user is login ? Using cookie not gonna work - those are windows station working under control MS StedyState and all cookies are deleted every login I don't need nothing fancy like full MAC address just any unique ID (can not be application username - because users use different stations) Any ideas ? Maybe Javascript is able to grab some Unique detail from station's browser (IE 8) and pass this as hidden input? bensiu

  i want to make my threads content searchable with full text search engines like solr. but i wonder one thing. should i index just the thread.title, thread.body and post.body or should i index username, created date, nr of posts, views, country, region and city too that belongs to thread? i mean when an user search for a thread he will get hits returned containing thread title, 2 lines of body, which user has posted it, creation date, tags, and so on. should i index all this information too? but then it would be pretty much the whole database. or should i just index the 3 first columns i mentioned for full text search. and another question. when an user post a new thread, then i have to immidiately tell solr to add that row? if im not, how would it be searchable?

  For example, I always generate an auto-increment field for the users table, but I also specify a UNIQUE index on their usernames. There are situations that I first need to get the userId for a given username and then execute the desired query, or use a JOIN in the desired query. It's 2 trips to the database or a JOIN vs. a varchar index. Should I use integer primary IDs? Is there a real performance benefit on INT over small VARCHAR indexes?

• Calling an svn update from a php script via a browser is not working

  Hey guys, I have two scripts. running an update and calling shell_exec('svn update') and shell_exec('svn st') running a mysqldump shell_exec('mysqldump params') The svn script is not running the update command, the svn st is printing results but not the svn update I tried to declare parameters when calling svn update eg 'svn update ' . dir . ' --username myuser --password mypasswd --non-interactive'; -- still nothing Played with most of the params If this is something related to binaries/permissions/groups, I don't see it. The mysqldump command works fine and is producing a file, so why isn't the svn updating the filesystem? Please do not advise using core SVN classes in PHP. This is not an option, I don't have complete control over the server and the module is not available. Thanks for your help, -hbt PS: important thing to mention here. The scripts works when called via the command line. It only fails when called via a web browser.

  Hi, I've been recently trying to connect to a hosted MySQL using Java but can't get it to work. I can connect to a local MySQL with localhost using: connect = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/lego?" + "user=******&password=*******"); (Replacing the astrisks withmy username and password) I can connect to the hosted MySQL database fine with PHP using: mysql_connect('mysql.hosts.co.uk','******','**********'); mysql_select_db('test'); My problem is, I cannot connect via Java. I have an Exception which is caught if the connection doesn't work and this is always printed out. Any ideas why it isn't working? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your time, InfinitiFizz

What I would like is basically a table full of checkboxes sort of like this: Login Editor Admin Alice ¦ ¦ ¦ Bob ¦ ? ? Carol ¦ ¦ ? [Apply] Generating the table isn't too much of a deal, but I am very unsure how to handle it when it comes to how to name all the checkboxes and especially how to read and update the database in a not too clumsy way. Does anyone have any good advice or pointers on how to do this in a mostly clean way? I'm using the Kohana 3 framework, if there is anything there that can make this even easier, but I of course welcome any answer.

For message transfer I am using hash data structure, Ex: { api => POST, username => sganesh, pass => "pass", message => "hai", time => "current_time", } I want to generate unique id using this hash. I have tried some of the ways, MD5 and freeze but this give unreadable id. I want some meaningful or readable unique id. I have thought we can use micro seconds to differentiate the id but here the problem is multiple clients. In any situation my id should be unique. Can anyone help me out of this problem? Below is how I imagine it should work: db.mycollection.update({"uid":"ABCDEF"}, {$set:{"rows.$.status_id":1}},false,true) However I get the error: can't append to array using string field name [$] I have tried for quite a while with no luck. Any pointers?
