• Software to report internet traffic for home user

  I need a freeware to monitor my internet activity, especially upload and download amounts over time. For instance, I like to see a graph or table that shows the downloaded and uploaded amounts per day, week or month and in total for a selected period. OS: Windows XP, Vista, 7 Edit: I don't need to see the traffic program by program. I'm not interested in which program accesses the internet, but I'm interested in monitoring my incoming and outgoing data amounts using a light-weight freeware.

  In XP, I could go ToolsOptionsFile Types and modify descriptions, icons and actions. Does this still exist in Windows 7? I'm not finding anything explicitly saying so, but there are lots of recommendations to download assorted random software to do it. There must be a way to change this without having to use third party stuff?

• Hosted file is downloaded damaged by IE

  I have a ZIP file hosted via Apache with Akamai as CDN, the problem is when trying to download it with IE (and just IE) it is damaged and I'm unable to open it. Since the problem occurs in other computers in different locations I've discarded network settings (firewall, proxy, etc). I don't even know where start to look? What would be a possible cause for this to happen? UPDATE I'm trying to solve the problem in the server (or CDN), I've verified it's not a client error

  I've looked into mobile 3G, but the download limits seem to be very low; the best I've seen is 10GB (from Orange). Ideally, I could go for something like ADSL, but the problem is that I'd need BT land-line, and isn't the minimum contract 12 months? Are there any other options I haven't considered?   i have windows 7 x64 and ubuntu 10.04 installed on my machine. while i download at ~15 MiB/sec in ubuntu (reaches almost at an instant), it takes almost a minute or two for win7 to reach that speed while downloading -say- a film. also the connection becomes unresponsive for some time periods in win7. i experienced this in several win7 installations (x64 prof. always, same version).

  i have a server i save a lot of files, i wonder how i use webdav with netbeans. eg. import a webdav folder edit the php files and save it the new changes apply immediately on the web server (cause the webdav folder is the same as the apache web root folder) i think this is a very smart solution so that you can change the website immediately, without having to download, change and upload. anyone that knows how to accomplish this?   Dell computer with Windows 7 and Outlook 2003. I recently added a smart card reader to my computer for the National Guard so that I can access some military sites that require a smart card to log in. Now, every time Outlook attempts to download any mail from my civilian AT&T account (a pop e-mail server), I get a message asking me to "Insert a smart card". I've traced it to the send/receive feature (specifically receiving e-mails) but can find no reason that Outlook should be looking for a smart card.

• Problems downloading Full Magento install via purely FTP on shared server

  I'm currently trying to download a full magneto install from a ftp server. The connection keeps failing, it seems as if there are too many files and folders to scan through? Can anyone shed any light on how to resolve this? The shared platform seems to b e a standard platform based on Plesk 8.6. As this is a shared server, there is no option for me to really do anything, apart from contact the hosting company (who have offered to zip up all the files for me, but this is not ideal)
