  • Problems downloading Full Magento install via purely FTP on shared server

    I'm currently trying to download a full magneto install from a ftp server. The connection keeps failing, it seems as if there are too many files and folders to scan through? Can anyone shed any light on how to resolve this? The shared platform seems to b e a standard platform based on Plesk 8.6. As this is a shared server, there is no option for me to really do anything, apart from contact the hosting company (who have offered to zip up all the files for me, but this is not ideal)

I originally bought the dlink router mainly because it is fast, much faster than any other consumer router I have tried. The only router which is capable of real 10MB/s d download speed. I need a switch which will not cause a bottle neck to the router. The switch will connect the to the server and the dlink router.

    This has been bugging me for a while. We have our Servers set to download only windows updates to stage them to be installed during one of our bi-monthly patch windows. I have looked high and low for a way to trigger the installation remotely on the servers during this time so that I don't have to log into a hundred or more servers and click on the "Install Updates Now" balloon. Anyone know of a way to trigger the update installations remotely?

    I need to download an SSL certificate of a remote server (not HTTPS, but the SSL handshake should be the same as Google Chrome / IE / wget and curl all give certificate check fail errors) and add the certificate as trusted in my laptops Windows' certificate store since I am not able to get my IT guys to give me the CA cert. this is for office commnunicator so I cannot really use the actual client to get the cert. How do I do this, I have Windows 7 and a pile of Linuxes handy so any tool / scripting language is fine.

  • How do I uninstall IE9 if it is half-installed and not on the uninstall programs list?

    Today I started to install Internet Explorer 9, but then before the auto-install can complete I forced it to quit. Now I am in an install neverland - it won't let me install because it says it is already there, and it won't let me uninstall from the Uninstall Programs menu because it doesn't doesn't show up in the list. Can anyone give me a backend way of deleting what has been installed so that I can re-run the install process? (Incidentally, I can launch IE9 but for some reason it doesn't download things correctly)

    I found a list of versions and their Solaris release numbers http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19253-01/819-5461/appendixa-1/index.html I know that you can grow a pool by replacing drives with larger ones or adding new drives or mirrors to the pool. I heard that ZFS did not yet support shrinking pools by removing drives/mirrors. But that has probably been changed. Which version (if any) released the ability to shrink a pool?

    I've decided I want to use FLAC for my music library, but I'm not sure what I should be using to encode the FLAC files. The latest release on flac.sourceforge.net is 5 years old, as are all of the other applications shown on the download page. Googling for updated encoders has just led me back to the same 5 year old apps. Is there a more up-to-date FLAC encoder, either a Windows GUI or Windows CLI app?

  • Ubuntu 9.10 upgraded with Internet connection fail

    I am pretty sure that the latest Ubuntu release does not support my wireless internet card. Everything was working fine in 9.04 and since upgrading my browser will load web pages. I can see and connect to my wep encrypted network. I can ping google.com and lose no packets. I am at the end of my tether, what else can I try? Is it possible to download a driver to re-enable my wireless?

    I have Windows XP 32-bit installed on this computer. I just purchased a Windows 7 64-bit as an ISO download upgrade version which I promptly burned to DVD and attempted to perform an upgrade installation. Here is the error message I am getting: Firstly, where are these "Setup log files" located? Second, does this mean I need to find compatible (64-bit?) drivers for the Mainboard and put them on floppy?

On Mac there's usually a "Check for Updates" menu item, but I don't see one on the Windows version.     I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) on a Windows Vista SP2 box. Every day in the 4 PM hour MSE updates itself: The green fortress icon in the notification area displays an animated download arrow, and my computer becomes unusably sluggish for five minutes (or more). I'm generally forced to take a coffee break or read a magazine. How can I control the time of day when this update occurs? Sometime after 9 PM would be ideal. Thanks.

    I currently have Google Chrome dev version installed, however visting http://www.soundstep.com/blog/experiments/jsdetection/, it said I needed to install Google Chrome Beta. Isn't dev higher than beta? I thought there was these versions of Google Chrome, from lowest to highest version: Stable Beta Dev Canary (Chromium) Is the detection of my browser failing on the website, or have Google Chrome changed their versioning system?   • Three formats? Why?

    I needed to download the Ruby Source recently from here and it says, "available in three formats" which are .tar.bz2, .tar.gz and .zip. Is there any reason that we need all three formats? At least on Linux and OSX I can do any of the three easily. On Windows, only zip is built-in, I think. Is there anything behind these preferences or is this just a religious battle?
