• Can't view order in magento

  Hi, I've been setting up a fresh magento 1.4.0.1 install, working great so far. I did some test orders just to see. Everything works fine, but when I click on "view order" under "my orders", I get a bunch of error messages: There has been an error processing your request Notice: iconv_substr() • Grails - Simple hasMany Problem - Using CheckBoxes rather than HTML Select in create.gsp

  My problem is this: I want to create a grails domain instance, defining the 'Many' instances of another domain that it has. I need a single form to allow a person to register but I want to normalise the data so that I can add more skills at a later time. If you think this should 'just work' then a link to a working example would be great. If I use the HTML Select then it works fine! With both style of form the Volunteer instance is created with the Skills correctly referenced in the 'Skills' variable. • "Launch Failed. Binary Not Found." Snow Leopard and Eclipse C/C++ IDE issue.

  Not a question, I've just scoured the internet in search of a solution for this problem and thought I'd share it with the good folks of SO. I'll put it in plain terms so that it's accessible to newbs. :) (Apologies if this is the wrong place -- just trying to be helpful.) This issue occurs with almost any user OS X Snow Leopard who tries to use the Eclipse C/C++ IDE, but is particularly annoying for the people (like me) who were using the Eclipse C/C++ IDE in Leopard, and were unable to work with Eclipse anymore when they upgraded. The issue occurs When users go to build/compile/link their software. They get the following error: Launch Failed. Binary Not Found. Further, the "binaries" branch in the project window on the left is simply nonexistent. THE PROBLEM: is that GCC 4.2 (the GNU Compiler Collection) that comes with Snow Leopard compiles binaries in 64-bit by default. Unfortunately, the linker that Eclipse uses does not understand 64-bit binaries; it reads 32-bit binaries. There may be other issues here, but in short, they culminate in no binary being generated, at least not one that Eclipse can read, which translates into Eclipse not finding the binaries. Hence the error. One solution is to add an -arch i686 flag when making the file, but manually making the file every time is annoying. Luckily for us, Snow Leopard also comes with GCC 4.0, which compiles in 32 bits by default. So one solution is merely to link this as the default compiler. This is the way I did it. THE SOLUTION: The GCCs are in /usr/bin, which is normally a hidden folder, so you can't see it in the Finder unless you explicitly tell the system that you want to see hidden folders. Anyway, what you want to do is go to the /usr/bin folder and delete the path that links the GCC command with GCC 4.2 and add a path that links the GCC command with GCC 4.0. In other words, when you or Eclipse try to access GCC, we want the command to go to the compiler that builds in 32 bits by default, so that the linker can read the files; we do not want it to go to the compiler that compiles in 64 bits. The best way to do this is to go to Applications/Utilities, and select the app called Terminal. A text prompt should come up. It should say something like "(Computer Name):~ (Username)$ " (with a space for you user input at the end). The way to accomplish the tasks above is to enter the following commands, entering each one in sequence VERBATIM, and pressing enter after each individual line. cd /usr/bin rm cc gcc c++ g++ ln -s gcc-4.0 cc ln -s gcc-4.0 gcc ln -s c++-4.0 c++ ln -s g++-4.0 g++ Like me, you will probably get an error that tells you you don't have permission to access these files. If so, try the following commands instead: cd /usr/bin sudo rm cc gcc c++ g++ sudo ln -s gcc-4.0 cc sudo ln -s gcc-4.0 gcc sudo ln -s c++-4.0 c++ sudo ln -s g++-4.0 g++ Sudo may prompt you for a password. If you've never used sudo before, try just pressing enter. If that doesn't work, try the password for your main admin account. OTHER POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS You may be able to enter build variables into Eclipse. I tried this, but I don't know enough about it. If you want to feel it out, the flag you will probably need is -arch i686. In earnest, GCC-4.0 worked for me all this time, and I don't see any reason to switch now. There may be a way to alter the default for the compiler itself, but once again, I don't know enough about it. Hope this has been helpful and informative. Good coding!

• Ivy resolve not working with dynamic artifact

  I've been using Ivy a bit but I seem to still have a lot to learn. I have two projects. One is a web app and the other is a library upon which the web app depends. The set up is that the library project is compiled to a jar file and published using Ivy to a directory within the project. In the web app build file, I have an ant target that calls the Ivy resolve ant task. What I'd like to do is have the web app using the dynamic resolve mode during development (on developer's local machines) and default resolve mode for test and production builds. Previously I was appending a time stamp to the library archive file so that Ivy would notice changes in file when the web app tried to resolve its dependency on it. Within Eclipse this is cumbersome because, in the web app, the project had to be refreshed and the build path tweaked every time a new library jar was published. Publishing a similarly named jar file every time would, I figure, only require developers to refresh the project. The problem is that the web app is unable to retrieve the dynamic jar file. • Problems with shutting down JBoss in Eclipse if I change JNDI port

  1st phase I have a problem shutting down my running JBoss instance under Eclipse since I changed the JNDI port of JBoss. Of course I can shut it down from the console view but not with the stop button (it still searches JNDI port at the default 1099 port). I'm looking forward to any solutions. Thank you! • Better Way To Use C++ Named Parameter Idiom?

  I've been developing a GUI library for Windows (as a personal side project, no aspirations of usefulness). For my main window class, I've set up a hierarchy of option classes (using the Named Parameter Idiom), because some options are shared and others are specific to particular types of windows (like dialogs). The way the Named Parameter Idiom works, the functions of the parameter class have to return the object they're called on. The problem is that, in the hierarchy, each one has to be a different class -- the createWindowOpts class for standard windows, the createDialogOpts class for dialogs, and the like. I've dealt with that by making all the option classes templates. • Inheriting XML files and modifying values

  This is a question about concept. I have an XML file, let's call it base: <base id="default"> <tags> <tag>tag_one</tag> <tag>tag_two</tag> <tag>tag_three</tag> </tags> <data> <data_a>blue</data_a> <data_b>3</data_b> </data> </base> What I want to do is to be able to extend this XML in another file, modifying individual properties. For example, I want to inherit that file and make a new one with a different data/data_a node: <base id="green" import="default"> <data> <data_a>green</data_a> </data> </base> So far it's pretty simple, it replaces the old data/data_a with the new one. I even can add a new node: <base id="ext" import="default"> <moredata> <data>extended version</data> </moredata> </base> And still it's pretty simple. The problem comes when I want to delete a node or deal with XML Lists (like the tags node). How should I reference a particular index on a list? I was thinking doing something like: <base id="diffList" import="default"> <tags> <tag index="1">this is not anymore tag_two</tag> </tags> </base> And for deleting a node / array index: <base id="deleting" import="default"> <tags> <tag index="2"/> </tags> <data/> </base> <!-- This will result in an XML containing these values: --> <base> <tag>tag_one</tag> <tag>tag_two</tag> </base> But I'm not happy with my solutions. I don't know anything about XSLT or other XML transformation tools, but I think someone must have done this before. The Question When editing a 'log item' at www.mydomain/log_items/edit I am presented with the view you would all suspect; namely the columns of the log_items table with the appropriate textfields/select boxes etc. I would also like to incorporate select boxes to choose the client, sub-client, project and sub-project in the 'log_items' edit view. Ideally the 'sub-client' select box should populate itself depending upon the 'client' chosen, the 'project' select box should also populate itself depending on the 'sub-client' selected etc, etc. I guess the way to go about populating the select boxes with relevant options is Ajax, but I am unsure of how to go about actually accessing a model from the child view of a indirectly related model, for example how to create a 'sub-client' select box in the 'log_items' edit view. However, I noticed in the database schema - which is downloadable from the site above link - that the database tables don't have any foreign keys, so now I'm wondering if I'm going about things in the correct manner.   Ok, this is downright bizarre. I am building a web application that relies on long held HTTP connection using COMET, and using this to stream data from the server to the application. Now, the problem is that this does not seem to go well with some anti-virus programs. We are now on beta, and some users are facing problems with the application when the anti-virus is enabled. It's not just one specific anti-virus either..   When I first started reading about Python, all of the tutorials have you use Python's Interactive Mode. It is difficult to save, write long programs, or edit your existing lines (for me at least). It seems like a far more difficult way of writing Python code than opening up a code.py file and running the interpreter on that file. python code.py I am coming from a Java background, so I have ingrained expectations of writing and compiling files for programs. I also know that a feature would not be so prominent in Python documentation if it were not somehow useful. So what am I missing?

There is a stale _cv.pyd in the site-packages directory, but no _cv.py anywhere. See step 5 below. MS Windows XP, VC++ 2008, Python 2.6, OpenCV 2.0 Here's what I have done. Downloaded and ran the MS Windows installer for OpenCV2.0. Downloaded and installed CMake Downloaded and installed SWIG Ran CMake. After unchecking "ENABLE_OPENMP" in the CMake GUI, I was able to build OpenCV using INSTALL.vcproj and BUILD_ALL.vcproj. I do not know what the difference is, so I built everything under both of those project files. The C example programs run fine. Copied contents of OpenCV2.0/Python2.6/lib/site-packages to my installed Python2.6/lib/site-packages directory. I notice that it contains an old _cv.pyd and an old libcv.dll.a.

  I am launching the gnome-terminal and I am working in a specific path For example: /home/user/programs/c/. Now I am opening another tab. When I am opening the new tab it is also in the same path. i.e. the new tab's pwd will be /home/user/programs/c/ But what I want is when I am opening a new tab its pwd should be /home/user. • Would Ruby on Rails be appropriate for this Foreign Language project?

  I'm a Spanish professor & computer groupie. About 15 years ago, I authored in HyperCard a series of verb conjugation programs that are now completely out of date with respect to System OS X. I would like to redo these programs myself because I had a lot of fun doing them last time (mostly I coded while my son played in Leaps and Bounds, you know, one of those places where parents take their kids & let them run wild through the tubes...). Colleagues have mentioned using Flash, Director, and various other solutions, but I saw a presentation on RoR at our SIDLIT conference today, and was inspired. I will be parsing and comparing strings (and there are other features on top of that, but that is the main one), "adding" strings relationally indexed in some kind of database(s). It will also have to handle various foreign characters (accents, upside down question marks, etc.). On top of the main process of the program, it will have to provide a practice vs. test mode, keep track of specific answers as well as totals right/wrong, and print a report. Would this be either easier and/or more efficiently done in RoR than in other languages. I am pretty sure that it will work on a Microsoft server, right? Because I think that is where most of our stuff is. I would be programming either on a Mac or a PC, whichever you think is easier. So, in summary, is RoR the way for me to go with this project? If I have some (little) experience programming in Hypercard and C, should I be able to pick RoR up fairly quickly? What things will I need to start (I already saw something called Redhills foreign key migration plugin, which I assume would be beneficial)? I still have my old scripts from hypercard, however what I would really like to do is to combine all six of my former tense-specific programs into one larger program. I figure that it wouldn't be too hard to reference the individual tenses in some way--could that be a class? Many thanks for any help you can give me on this forum.

  Hi, I have following this blog in setting Xvfb in my ubuntu environment: http://corpocrat.com/2008/08/19/how-to-install-xvfb-x11-server-in-linux-server/ So I did this: Xvfb :1 -screen 0 800x600x24& My question is does Xvfb only allocate memory during initialization? i.e. just enough for a display of 800x600x24? So as I have more and more programs (different programs or same program multiple times) display to the Xvfb , it does not allocate more memory? Thank you.

• Global WH_CBT hook DLL is loaded into some processes only

  The main program calls the function SetHook in the wi.dll to install global WH_CBT hook. bool WI_API SetHook() { if (!g_hHook) { g_hHook = SetWindowsHookEx(WH_CBT, (HOOKPROC) CBTProc, g_hInstDll, 0); } return g_hHook != NULL; } I presume after installing global hook, wi.dll should be loaded into each process' address space. However wi.dll is loaded in to some processes only. For example, if I start Skype, MS Word I can see that wi.dll is loaded into these processes as well (using Process Explorer), however if I run Firefox, uTorrent, Adobe Reader then wi.dll is not loaded into these processes. I'm using W7 64-bit, main program and wi.dll is 32-bit, all programs mentioned here is 32-bit programs as well. Any ideas why that happens? Thanks in advance.

  In my Cocoa program, I want to examine what programs are registered to run at startup and modify that list as I feel appropriate. In order to be compatible with Tiger it seems like I need to work through AppleScript.
