Writing lambda functions in Scala

Python 2.7 creating a multidimensional list

I don't know why I am having so much trouble creating a 3 dimensional list. I need the program to create an empty n by n list. So for n = 4: x = [[[],[],[],[]],[[],[],[],[]],[[],[],[],[]],[[],[],[],[]]] I've tried using: y = [n*[n*[]]] y = [[[]]* n for i in range(n)] Which both appear to be creating copies of a reference. I've also tried naieve application of the list builder with little success: y = [[[]* n for i in range(n)]* n for i in range(n)] y = [[[]* n for i in range(1)]* n for i in range(n)] I've also tried building up the array iteratively using loops, with no success. In my rapid flurry of attempts to not post something stupidly easy to SO, I came upon a solution: y = [] for i in range(0,n): y.append([[]*n for i in range(n)]) Is there an easier/ more intuitive way of doing this?

Make array from $_POST values

Let's start telling that I'm passing an x amount of variables via post from a form. Let's name them menu_category_1, menu_category_2, ..., menu_category_x, plus, maybe, menu_category_new (I'm using an if empty to check this last one variable). To make things easier I'm also sending the parameter $key (amount of variables starting from 0). Now I need to set them into a new variable $menu_category (array), which is going to be imploded and then update my database. How do I set up that new $menu_category variable to be an array containing all my variables named in the beginning? I was thinking of using a for loop but I can't come up with something useful. php calling classes functions in separate pages

I've worked with J2EE recently and like the idea of struts.xml where I can handle the redirection to pages based on return string from action classes. In PHP, in my new under-development site, I am trying to follow the MVC standards without an MVC framework used from the internet. So I create the controllers, models and views (empty now). The only thing I am really stuck at is when I submit the form in view (insert_product.php) then I will need to create another php page to handle the post data and pass them to controllers. Anyway of avoiding creating those pages and maybe having something like struts.xml? Even if I can post data directly to controller class, that would be good. Thanks,

Hi i encountered this problem whereby when i initialized my String[], there seems to be a null in the String[] before i do anything. How do i initialized the String[] to be completely empty,i.e. without the null at the start? The following jQuery Javascript code is included on an otherwise empty page. $(function() { for (var i = 0; i < 10; i++) { element = $('<div>' + i + '</div>'); element.click(function() { alert(i); }); $('body').append(element); } }); The desired behavior is that this code should generate 10 div elements numbered from 0 to 9. When you click on a div element, an alert popup will show the number of the div element you clicked on (i.e. if a user clicks on the div element labeled '4', the alert popup should show the number 4). The alert popup instead shows the number 10 regardless of which div element is clicked on. How can I modify this code to make it behave in the desired way?

Hello All, I want to merge two or more DataTables Colum by Column. I am developing C# Windows Application. My use case is below: I have empty data grid in my application. user will drag and drop one column from available column list box into data grid. The data grid will start displaying data for that column. Now, I will drag another column into data grid and now grid should get populated data of two columns. This will repeat till user feels that he has dropped all necessary columns. What is best way to do this? Is there any performance hits with large number of rows typically 1 million? Please help. How can I "undelete" a set of documents in CouchDB?

I have a large set of documents in a CouchDB database that were just accidentally bulk deleted using _deleted:true. I also have a backup for this set of data that includes their last known good revision and metadata. I need to maintain the same _id, so simple restore with a new _id is not an option. Compaction has not been run and I can access any of these documents via the &rev= url parameter as well as their attachments (which are needed). What I need to do is "restore" these documents to the revision I have on file. Surprisingly, I have come up empty with any queries on how to achieve this. Tips or hacks appreciated.

Problem: scrolling a tableview and then select the searchbar (iphone)

Hello everyone, I've been stuck with this problem for hours and I can't see the light. Please give me a hand with this: I have a tableview and a searchbar. The searchbar is situated in the navigationbar. When I do a fast scroll of the tableview, if I select the searchbar while the tableview is still decelerating, a exception raises: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: ' -[NSMutableArray objectAtIndex:]: index 31 beyond bounds for empty array' How can I stop programmatically the deceleration of the tableview? Clone submodule into directory

I'm having an issue with creating a submodule in my project. If I create the submodule directly in the repository root, everything works fine. If the submodule is any deeper, the repository does not get cloned. For example, this works as expected: git submodule add git://someproject.com/.git someproject However, when I run the following command, the project is added to .gitmodules and an empty repository is created, but no code is pulled down (even after a git submodule update --init). The command does not produce any output. git submodule add git://someproject.com/.git lib/someproject

Multiple sessions or one?

I am using a security token for a form, the form is dynamically built depending on selection through jquery. So the form is called quite a lot and different tokens created every-time. So.. if the same user calls the form 3 times the session would be rewritten? Would it help at all to check if the token exists and not create one unless its empty? or perhaps someone knows of a good way to work with form tokens? If 3 users are on then the token is created 3 times with different values, right? If I check for the token and 3 users are on then the session is created 3 times with the same values?

insert into select from other table

I need to add multiple records based on data from another table where the event is the same. I've found on this forum insert into table2(id,name) select "001",first_name from table1 where table1.id="001" as possible solution for my question. So I thought this should be the following syntax: insert into reservations(event,seat) select "99",id from seats where seats.id>0 to add all seats to event 99. However when I run this query mysql gives the message 'MySQL returned an empty resultset (0 rows). (query 0.0028 sec)' and no records were added. I translated the message so could be sligthly different. When I only use the "select "99",id from seats where seats.id0" query, it returns me 1080 rows.

What is the memoy size of a Java object array after it has been created?

This probably doesn't even need asking, but I want to make sure I'm right on this. When you create an array of any object in Java like so: Object[] objArr = new Object[10]; The variable objArr is located in stack memory, and it points to a location in the heap where the array object is located. The size of that array in the heap is equal to a 12 byte object header + 4 (or 8, depending on the reference size) bytes * the number of entries in the array. Is this accurate? My question, then, is as follows. Since the array above is empty, does it take up 12 + 4*10 = 52 bytes of memory in the heap immediately after the execution of that line of code? Or does the JVM wait until you start putting things into the array before it instantiates it? Do the null references in the array take up space?

writing terminal output to file

On my machine, I have some software which takes commands in the terminal and returns a list of values. To run it, I have to type something like: pdv -t filename I am trying to run it as part of a python programme. When I run the following: os.system('pdv -t %s' % (epoch_name)) then I get the values that I desire returned to my terminal (where epoch_name is the variable name for the filename). But when I try to write the result to a file: os.system('pdv -t %s % "(epoch_name)" > 123.txt') the file 123.txt is produced but it is empty. I know that I am misplacing the " and/or ' characters, but I can't figure out where they should go. Any help would be gratefully received!

I have a project where I need to select only the users that answered to some questions in a certain way (based on a filter). The filter table (filter) looks like this question | answer Q1 | A Q2 | B The user table (answers) looks like this user | question | answer 1 | Q1 | A 1 | Q2 | D 2 | Q1 | A 2 | Q2 | B How can I select from the user table only the user(s) that match the filter? I tried "SELECT user FROM answers WHERE (question = Q1 AND answer = A) AND (question = Q2 AND answer = B)" and it doesn't work -- I get an empty result. Thank you.
