• Domain redirection to port on Windows Server 2008

  I have a Windows server running IIS. I wish to run a piece of software that hosts a web interface on a non-standard HTTP port (let's say, port 9999). I have static DNS entries on my router for two FQDNs, both of which direct to the Windows server. I wish to have requests to 'website1' to continue to go to the IIS website on port 80, but requests for 'website2' to instead go to port 9999 to be handled by the other application. How can I accomplish this? Right now I can get to the application by going to 'website1:9999' or 'website2:9999'.

  I am trying to install a package that depends on python-keybinder and hence on libkeybinder. When I run makepkg for libkeybinder, it starts and after sometime I get the following error: checking for XkbQueryExtension... no configure: error: Could not find XKB ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). Aborting... ==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build libkeybinder. I tried checking the pkgbuild but wasn't able to find anything. :( Is there a workaround?

• Can Squid 2.7 proxy gzipped content

  We have a forward proxy for our network which is Squid 2.7. This is managed for us by a third party. We noticed recently that http requests going from our network to the web were having the Accept-Encoding header removed. This was resulting in all web traffic across our network (approx 8000+ PCs) being uncompressed even though the browsers and server on each end were capable. We have asked the third party to look into this and they have said it is because Squid 2.7 does not support compression. I understand this to be true but I was under the impression that the compression happened on the webserver rather than the proxy. So... Can Squid 2.7 proxy and/or cache content that is gzipped? If it can, how/why might it be configured such that the Accept-Encoding header is being removed?

• Setting up a simple proxy

  I'm going to China for a week, and I'd prefer to be able to watch YouTube while I'm there. Since it's blocked, I presume I'm going to need a proxy. I have a Mac and a Linux box at home that I can use, but I'm not sure how complicated setting up a proxy is. From what I understand, I should be able to do it with a browser that supports HTTP 1.1 CONNECT if I connect to my machine at home. Can I do this, and if so, what browser can I use, or if I have misunderstood something, do I have any other simple solutions?

  I've setup Redmine 2.1 on my Debian Squeeze server following this Tutorial HowTo configure Redmine for advanced git integration (I tried to use the grack path). Redmine server is running properly, but I have a problem granting users access to git repositories. When I try to clone a repository it says: error: The requested URL returned error: 500 while accessing The apache error.log shows this entry: [Fri Sep 28 15:50:56 2012] [crit] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] configuration error: couldn't check user. Check your authn provider!: /repo.git/info/refs It also asks me for user and password when cloning, but it shouldn't if I understand the tutorial right.   Sometimes I get the error from MYSQL server: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 0 I cannot find the cause, since most of the time it works, but every week for some hours I get this error. I googled, but there seem to be only users which have this error permanently. But in this case, it only occurs sometimes. I checked hosts.allow and hosts.deny, but the host is allowed and not denied. Also sometimes I get the error: File './database/table.MYD' not found (Errcode: 24) It occurs very rarely. But it occurs for some hours once a week, sometimes on multiple days, but suddenly the problem disappears again. I have checked the open files limit. It's 2048 and should be absolutely enough. I also tried to increase the number of open files nevertheless, but no effect. I thought, perhaps the process does not close some tables. But this is impossible, because after a while everythings o.k. again and the process opens maximum 100 tables at once. I also checked the MySQL-runtime-environment, and there were 930 opened files. I cannot explain that. After a while it's 129. I am running a MySQL-Server on a SUSE-Linux machine. I connect to the MySQL-Server from another host by the command line tool "mysql" and by MySQL-C-connector. The MySQL-Server is version 5.0.67.

  When coping a file greater than 64kB from an Ubuntu server to a CIFS mounted windows share, most of the data is copied, but it seems the last chunk doesn't get copied. The size doesn't match, and the md5 check sums don't match. I have plenty of file space, but then I use cp, I get the following... cp: closing `cloudBackup/asdf.txt': No space left on device Using rsync, I get the following... rsync: close failed on "/home/fluffy/cloudBackup/.asdf.txt.qrBWe6": No space left on device (28) rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(752) [receiver=3.0.8] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (29 bytes received so far) [sender] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) [sender=3.0.8] I have full read/write permissions on the mounted share. • How to filter Varnish logs based on XID?

  I'm running into infrequent 503 errors which appear hard to pinpoint. Varnishlog is driving me mad, since I can't seem to get the information I want out of it. I'd like to see both the client- and backend-communications as seen by Varnish. I thought the XID number, which is logged on Varnish's default error page, would allow me to filter the exact request out of the logging buffer. However, no combination of varnishlog parameters gives me the output I need. The following only shows the client-side communication: varnishlog -d -c -m ReqStart:1427305652 while this only shows the resulting backend communication: varnishlog -d -b -m TxHeader:1427305652 Is there a one-liner to show the entire request?

• xp stop error 50 page fault in non paged area

  I have a laptop that fails to boot with the BSOD error: "page_fault_in_non_paged_area" STOP: 0x00000050 (0xEC6B738D, 0x00000000, 0x8649308C, 0x00000000) The laptop has 2 memory DIMMs. I removed each DIMM one at a time and the error remained with just one DIMM installed. I have run spinrite 6.0 on the hard drive no errors found. Booted to recovery mode and ran CHKDSK /R, it found and fixed errors but still gets the stop error. Any other suggestions to try?

• Window 7 image in vmware will allow network connection out but not http

  I am currently trying to create a set of images to deploy on my network, but I've run in to a snag. When I create my own Windows 7 image I can successfully use NAT for connecting to the network but whenever I try to access a webpage I get nothing. To be more specific, All firewalls/iptables are disabled on my host machine, my virtual machine, and my network. I can do lookups and all addresses respond correctly (i'm even using Google's DNS). On the host OS i have full connectivity. On the virtual machine I can ping any device I want and all addresses resolve correctly. Within a browser I cannot reach any page via hostname or IP. I feel almost like port 80 is being blocked but i can't find any reason this would be the case. If anyone has had this occur before, I would love some insight to the problem. I initially asked this on stackoverflow and now my eyes are now opened up to superuser. Thank you for any help you can provide.

• Issue with aborted MySQL connections (error code: 4)

  Some of the connections between my application server (Ubuntu, Apache, PHP) and my DB server (Ubuntu, MySQL) are failing with error code 4. According to the documentation error code 4 is: OS error code 4: Interrupted system call At first I thought that maybe the issue is that the DB server has too many connections and fails because there are too much open files. But it seems not to be the case because: Too many open files has different error code (24). I've checked and during peak time the server had 497 files open (checked using lsof command) while the maximum is 1024. The TCP settings were already checked (see prior question). Any ideas what this can be or what should I check?

  Computer: Windows 7 x64 Enterprise. Office 2010 with Outlook 2010. Exchange account and a couple of IMAP accounts connected to the Outlook profile. Error: When attempting to share the calendar with anyone (selected from the address book) by click on "Calendar Permissions" seen here You can add or remove people without issue, except that no matter what, even if nothing is done, just opening the sharing window and closing it, you get an error message that says "An error occurred when setting schedule permissions" Verified that the issue doesnt actually effect the sharing, or the general setting of permissions. The error however is disconcerting to my user, and I would like to alleviate the problem if possible. Thanks!

• Mouse Error Code 24. Windows 7

  I've had the same mouse for a while, and it's been working fine until one day, it started giving me a message about a device not working properly. I tried updating the drivers, and re-installing, I even deleted old drivers in case my computer should be a little confused. It never made a difference, and my mouse seemed to be working just fine despite getting the permanent error in my device manager, I looked it up several times online, but I never found anything I could actually use, when I go to official websites, I always get the same response "plug in so so into a different place - drivers - install silverlight before you can watch this tutorial, try it on a different machine". so I gave up on that. But now is where I have a real problem, lately, my little strange error evolved into a fullblown Error 24, and my mouse is starting to turn on and off randomely, especially when it is being used, but I do hear it go "badum..dadum" when I'm off doing something else. when I looked up error code 24, I really didn't find much other than it meaning: Code 24 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24) Cause The device is installed incorrectly. The problem could be a hardware failure, or a new driver might be needed. Devices stay in this state if they have been prepared for removal. After you remove the device, this error disappears. But, I have tried uninstalling the device entirely several times, and it'll go right back to its previous state with error 24, and turning on and off randomely. what do I do? I cannot afford taking it to a repair place, I can't really afford a new mouse either, I refuse to buy cheap ones as I am a gamer, in need of more than 3 buttons, and a good grip is important. Could there possibly be some confusion in the registry? I do remember having gotten some early problems after I converted my vista to windows7. But I hardly dare going in there unless I'm 100% certain of what I'm going for, and I can honestly say I am at a loss here. Edit: it is a USB mouse we're talking about here. It should add those headers to any HTTP Response that does NOT have those extensions. But it's not working, it's adding them to any Response. I also need to create another directive to add Header set Cache-Control "max-age=3600, public" to Responses of files that DOES have them. Could anybody help me make proper fileMatch regexes?

• HTTP transfer speeds start fast then slows to a crawl

  We just got a new dedicated 1 gigabit server running IIS. The CPU is 15% or less, the RAM (4 GB total) has 3 GB unused... We are pushing 110 mbits per second... Speeds are really slow.. And, if fact, here's how it happens: We connect, and then the speeds are really fast, and quickly decline to 40 kBps or less. What's going on? It seems the server just wont go above 120 mbits per second. The files are all very large. 50 MB to 500 MB... Could this be a factor? Again, CPU, RAM, UI responsiveness when accessing remotely all seem fine.

  Maybe this is a to generic question, but since we have this issue for quite a while now, I give it a shot. We have some applications which use HTTP for the connection between the client (website or fat-client) and the server. The Computer who runs this applications is in a Network behind a firewall and a proxy, the server isn't inside the same network. The problem is that every now and then the https Request times out and depending on the Client the Application "hangs" or does some other funky stuff. The problem is definitely inside our network, because if i try the applications outside our network it works fine. Can you give me a hint where i can most likely find the problem?

• Safari 7 SSL error if using IP-adress

  I have created my own CA for internal usage and set the root certificate to trustworthy on my machines. With this CA I signed the SSL-certificates for my internal servers. I only address them with their IP and so I used the servers' IP as certificate name. If i connect to the Servers with Chrome or mobile Safari it works without problems, but if I use Safari 7 under Mavericks (on the same machine with the same keychain) i get the following error: "The certificate is not valid (host name mismatch)". I double checked that I entered the correct IP ("https://192.168.2.130"), but I always get the same error. Do I need to enter a different name for the certificate or is it just that Safari doesn't support SSL certificates for IPs? • ASP Fails with 500 Error

  We have a server setup as an IIS box and have some static pages with a few asp pages that handle the form submissions. The asp is really vbscript that sends a CDO message. When moving these pages to the new server the form will not submit, it gives a 500 error and the following shows in Event Viewer: Error: The Template Persistent Cache initialization failed for Application Pool 'DefaultAppPool' because of the following error: Could not create a Disk Cache Sub-directory for the Application Pool. The data may have additional error codes.. I can't seem to find any info on this anywhere... I was thinking it may have something to do with the fact that we created this server from an image of another server. Thanks for your help in advance... Vince
