  Got a simple scenario with two web servers for redundancy and to scale. But how do I make a two web-server setup fully redundant? I can think of two solutions; two web servers, one load balancer spreading the load. one extra machine for the load balancer. but how will the load balancer be redundant? two machines, each running the web server AND running a load balancer, spreading the load over. have a DNS entry point to both of the machines. no extra machines needed for load balancing. How do you guys normally solve this kind of problem?

  I have set up a new PC and installed cygwin on it. Its windows 7 pro. I have already done a lot of research on this problem. I have already uninstalled and installed cygwin more than 5 times. Done rebaseall everytime I installed it. Checked for possible BLODA, I had notron antivirus, which I have removed. As an aside, I tried posting this question to cygwin mailing list after subscribing to it. But my mail does not appear on the list. I suppose they want address to be munged and I have no clue how to do it. supposedly, they are treating it as a spam. Any idea how I can post to the mailing list there.

  I am trying to install MikTex 2.9.3927 on Windows 7 x64. Very early in the installation process, I get a MikTex setup wizard error saying: "Windows API Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified Details: C:...\somefile.tpm" The file that results in the error seems to be different every time I try. I have tried many different installation paths, with many different setup options. The same error occurs if I download the ~138MB "Basic MiKTeX 2.9" Installer or if I use the Net Installer to download the entire setup (~1GB). Note that this is a duplicate question - the other copy of this question is closed to users of under 10 rep. I have asked it so that I can provide an updated answer...

• can't open large rss remote files

  I'm setting up a rss feed in vbulletin to import the entries into the forum. The rss is very large (2000+ entries) and it is hosted on a different server (i have control on it). Problem is that i cannot add this feed into vBulletin, i am getting a weird error. If i edit the feed and remove half of the entries then it will work correctly, which makes me think it is because the file is too large. I suppose i have to change a setting in php.ini or something to allow bigger files to be opened, but what do i need to look for ? Thanks I'm on Debian.

  I know there's a lot of questions on SO similar to this, but I couldn't find one for this particular issue. A couple of points, first: I have no control over our Sharepoint server. I cannot tweak any IIS settings. I believe our IIS server version is IIS 7.0. Our Sharepoint Server is anticipating requests via NTLM. Our Sharepoint Server is on the same domain as my client computer. I am using .NET Framework 3.5, Visual Studio 2008 I am trying to write a simple console app to manipulate Sharepoint data using Sharepoint Web Services. Setting TokenImpersonationLevel for my client credentials using (var client = new ListsSoapClient()) { client.ClientCredentials.Windows.AllowedImpersonationLevel = TokenImpersonationLevel.Impersonation; client.GetListCollection(); } This produced the same error message. Using security mode=TransportCredentialOnly <security mode="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType="Ntlm" /> </security> This resulted in a different error message: The provided URI scheme 'https' is invalid; expected 'http'. Parameter name: via However, I need to use https, so I cannot change my URI scheme. I've tried some other combinations that I can't remember, but I'll post them when I do. I'm really at wits end here. I see a lot of links on Google that say "switch to Kerberos", but my server seems to only be accepting NTLM, not "Negotiate" (as it would say if it was looking for Kerberos), so that is unfortunately not an option. Any help out there, folks?

  Hi , It's 3 days I'm trying to install SqlServer 2005 under Windows 7 64 bit on my machine . First let me tell you what I've done and what I've got till now . 1-I Installed Windows 7 64 Bit on my computer 2-I tried to install SQl Server 2005 "Developer Edition" 2.1 But in "System Configuration Check" Page i recieved 2 warning , One for "IIS Feature Requirement" and another for "ASP.NET Version Registration Rquired" . 2.1.1 . I installed "Internet Information Services" from "Turn Windows features on or off" section in control panel 2.1.2 I Enabled reporting service 32 bit from "Inetpub= AdminScripts = adsutil.vbs 2.2 At this stage There was no waring in System Configuration Check 3- So I installed SQl Server 2005 Developer Edition By all default settings 4- I installed Sql Server 2005 Service Pack 3 64 bit Now when when i run "Management Studio" There is no name in "Server name" section . I typed my Computer name Or "." and i got this Error : A network -related instance-specific error occurred while establishinga connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (Provider: Named Pipes Provider , error :40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server ) ( Microsoft SQL Server , Error :2) . I googled some for this Error and some people said follow this instruction: Startsql server 2005Configuration toolsSql Server Surface Configuration AreaSurface Area Configuration for services and Connections But i got this Error : No SQl SErver 2005 Components were found on the specified computer . Either no components are installed , or you are not a administrator on this computer (SQLSAC) I'm really tired because of that , and i don't know what's wrong with this . Some more information : I have no additonal software on my computer , like Antivirus or Proxy I tried all step with "Standard Edition" either , but no difference My user is Administrator I tried more than 5 times all those steps including re-installing Windows 7 .   I have a WCF service which is hosted on IIS6 on a Win2003 SP2 machine. The WCF service is hosting correctly and is visible over HTTP giving the usual "To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service" message. However accessing the .svc?WSDL link causes the connection to be reset. I have looked into some of the other options - creating a separate WSDL manually and exposing it through the metadata properties (really don't want to do that due to the maintenance issues). If anyone can offer any thoughts on this or any other workarounds it would be greatly appreciated.

• How can I parse_url in PHP when there is a URL in a string variable?

  I am admittedly a PHP newbie, so I need some help. I am creating a self-designed affiliate program for my site and have the option for an affiliate to add a SubID to their link for tracking. Without having control over what is entered, I have been testing different scenarios and found a bug when a full URL is entered (i.e. "http://example.com"). In my PHP I can grab the variable from the string no problem. My problem comes from when I get the referring URL and parse it (since I need to parse the referring URL to get the host mane for other uses). Code below: $refURL = getenv("HTTP_REFERER"); $parseRefURL = parse_url($refURL); WORKS when incoming link is (for example): http://example.com/?ref=REFERRER'S-ID&sid=www.test.com ERROR when incoming link is (notice the addition of "http://" after "sid="): http://example.com/?ref=REFERRER'S-ID&sid=http://www.test.com Here is the warning message: Warning: parse_url(/?ref=REFERRER'S-ID&sid=http://www.test.com) [function.parse-url]: Unable to parse url in /home4/'directory'/public_html/hosterdoodle/header.php on line 28 Any ideas on how to keep the parse-url function from being thrown off when someone may decide to place a URL in a variable? (I actually tested this problem down to the point that it will throw the error with as little as ":/" in the variable)

  Hi there, Recently I was working with BizTalk Deployment Framework v5.0 for my BizTalk Sever 2009 projects and TFS 2010 Builds. I had followed all the steps mentioned in the BTDF documentation to create the build definition and also followed the steps to setup the Build Server with BTDF. After few hiccups I was stuck at this light.exe validation error. The detailed error is as below: light.exe : error LGHT0217: Error executing ICE action 'ICE06'. The most common cause of this kind of ICE failure is an incorrectly registered scripting engine. See http://wix.sourceforge.net/faq.html#Error217 for details and how to solve this problem. The following string format was not expected by the external UI message logger: "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." I found few blog posts and forum answers out there which had steps to resolve the error but all of them mentioned different things. Like: Some mentioned that disable the validation itself so that the VBScript would not be called. (I didn’t want to disable the validation.) Another said to put NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE in the local Administrators group but this is not recommended as it opens up network security holes. But what actually worked for me was: TFS Build Service Account was part of the Administrator group on the Build Server which is OK. But somehow it was also part of the IIS_IUSR Group. I removed the TFS Build Service Account from the IIS_IUSR group. Queued up my TFS Build but same error. Again after some digging, I found that I had not restarted the Visual Studio Team Build Service. In a Nutshell: Remove TFS Build Service Account from IIS_IUSR Group. Restart the Visual Studio Team Build Service, either from Services or TFS Console.   Hope this resolves the issue for someone and not waste bunch of hours.   Thanks, Vishal Mody

• Fixing NativeHR 0×80070002 Error When Retracting or Deploying SharePoint Apps from Visual Studio

  Sometimes when App deployment fails from Visual Studio you will get the following error when trying to retract or redeploy the app: <nativehr>0×80070002</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack> There seems to be some issue with the information in the content database.  To fix the problem I just deleted all of the information from the App tables in the content database.  We only have one app in testing at a time so this worked fine for me.  Doing this in a production environment or if you have multiple apps installed is not recommended, so if you are in either of those scenarios you will probably have to dig into those tables to find the offending entries.  You may also have to remove some of the App principal entries from the App Service Application database as well (I’ll try to update this post if we find that to be true).   I’m going to post the SQL to do the full deletion, but be careful when running this: DO NOT RUN THIS IN A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT: DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppDatabaseMetadata] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppInstallationProperty] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppInstallations] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppJobs] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppLifecycleErrors] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppPackages] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppPrincipalPerms] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppPrincipals] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppResources] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppRuntimeIcons] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppRuntimeMetadata] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppRuntimeSubstitutionDictionary] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppSourceInfo] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppSubscriptionCosts] DELETE FROM [dbo].[AppTaskDependencies]

• Error when starting update-manager

  Yesterday evening I ran an update. Apparently the python3-update-manager got updated. However, since today I get an error message when I started the update manager within Unity. A report was sent as proposed. Running an update from within the terminal seems to work normally. Uninstalling and re-installing from the ubuntu software centre didn't solve the problem. I tried throughout synaptic where I removed all related packages (3) and re-installed them after a restart..but in vain so far. I'm quite new to linux and ran out of ideas. SQL show errors Errors for PACKAGE BODY APPS.FND_TRACE: LINE/COL ERROR -------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- 235/6 PL/SQL: Statement ignored 235/6 PLS-00201: identifier 'DBMS_SYSTEM.SET_EV' must be declared .. By default, DBMS_SYSTEM package is accessible only from SYS schema. Also there is no public synonym created for this package. So, the solution is to create the public synonym and grant "execute" privilege on DBMS_SYSTEM package to all database users or a specific user. eg., SQL CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM dbms_system FOR dbms_system; Synonym created. SQL GRANT EXECUTE ON dbms_system TO APPS; Grant succeeded. - OR - SQL GRANT EXECUTE ON dbms_system TO PUBLIC; Grant succeeded. SQL alter package APPS.FND_TRACE compile body; Package body altered. Note that merely granting execute privilege is not enough -- creating the public synonym is as important to resolve this issue.

  I have a problem executing nautilus in root mode on a fresh installation. I just installed Ubuntu 12.04, and the first thing I did after first boot was run the command gksudo nautilus, I've got this error message: Nautilus could not create the required folder "/root/.config/nautilus". Before running Nautilus, please create the following folder, or set permissions such that Nautilus can create it. I am triple booting Windows 7, Fedora 17 and Ubuntu 12.04. My partition configuration is this: sda1 --> (ntfs) Windows 7 boot partition sda2 --> (ntfs) Windows 7 sda3 --> (ext4) Fedora 17 /boot partition sda4 --> Extended partition sda5 --> LVM Fedora 17, with 3 partitions inside (/, /home and swap) sda6 --> (ext4) Ubuntu 12.04 /boot partition sda7 --> (ext4) Ubuntu 12.04 swap partition sda8 --> (ext4) Ubuntu 12.04 / partition sda9 --> (ext4) Ubuntu 12.04 /home partition The MBR is using Windows, so is this one which is controlling the machine boot menu. Looks like Nautilus does not have permission to write in /root/.config, but it should right? I prefer asking before doing nothing wrong. Any ideas?

  I'm trying to get my java program to talk to a MySQL DB. So i did some reading and downloaded MySQL Connector/J. I've extracted it into my home directory ~.   Good evening. This problem occured when trying to update using the update manager. A problem occured so I cleared all the cache and tried to update once again this time in terminal, and it spat out: dpkg: error: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 6449 missing package name After opening up 'status' with gedit and going to line 6449, I found that nothing was on that line but the following was before and after it. This package contains the Mono System.Configuration library for CLI 4.0. Try to connect with an FTP user client and upload some files. With my setup, the above listed config works well at this point. Edit /etc/vsftpd.conf and set chroot_local_user= to YES. Make sure that chroot_list_enable= and/or chroot_list_file= are not set. Comment them out if they are. Save and exit. Run sudo restart vsftpd (or sudo service vsftpd restart if you like) in a terminal. Try to connect with an FTP user client. You should see a message more or less like this: GnuTLS error -15: An unexpected TLS packet was received. This is an issue for me, as I do not want FTP-sessions to be able to list files outside the user's home folder. I have checked with several client-side apps, and I get the same results with every one of them. Filezilla is not so good regarding cipher methods nowadays, but as I am able to make an FTP(e)s-connection over TLS (as long as chroot'ing is disabled and ssl_ciphers is set to HIGH) I have a feeling ciphers are not the issue this time, and that I won't find the answer by tweaking configs on the client side. My vsftpd.log stays empty, even though debug_ssl and log_ftp_protocol are enabled, so no info there either.

• file error /boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod trying to repair boot, live dvd install probleml

  I have seen that there are a lot of threads about this problem. I had Windows 8 installed on my series 3 samsung i5 computer and I tried to install ubuntu 13.04. This is what I did: Because of the secure boot I can't install ubuntu from the dvd. So I went in the bios and disabled secure boot and enabled ''CSM''. I went out of the bios and windows 8 couldn't boot more. So I follow a guide on this thread ( Installing on a Pre-Installed Windows 8 System (UEFI Supported) ) and on ubuntu I tried to repair the boot by inserting this code in the terminal: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install boot-repair Then I ran boot-repair and I follow all the steps. Then I reboot the sistem and saw the black screen that says: error: file '/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal mod' not found grub rescure> Now I saw a lot of guides about this problem but I can't understand how to reistall ubuntu trough the live dvd that I used to install it the first time... I put it in the computer but nothing appears.. so what should I do now? I'm a noob on ubuntu and I have read all the things about this grub 2 install and know where the problem comes from but how to start the dvd??

• Booting Ubuntu Failure : error: attempt to read or write outside of disk 'hd0'

  I have installed ubuntu 12.10 in a WD external harddrive (320GB). This is a complete installation, not live USB. When I plug it in my HP desktop I go to the BIOS settings and boot off the harddrive, everything work perfectly -as it should. Now this works on everysingle computer and laptop in my house (all HP) -except for ONE. My HP ProBook 4530s. When I select to boot of the USB I get the Message: error: attempt to read or write outside of disk 'hd0' Now, I have removed the hdd from my laptop and the external drive is the ONLY drive plugged in. Bellow is a picture of the screen. After the message I navigate to ls / (as shown below): After here I try to acces other folders under ls /, for example, I try to go to ls /boot to get to the grub folder. Then I get the same message as before: as shown by the image below: The only folders I can access without getting the message again are /home, /run and /usr. So how do I: Boot Ubuntu from GRUB2 (this screen) manually Set to automatically boot Ubuntu If possible an explanation for this problem Thanks!
