• Hot to make COM ActiveX object work in IE 64 bit?

  Hi! I have a COM object embeded in ASP.NET page using <object classid="clsid:XXX...">. It works in IE 32 bit, but does not work in IE 64 bit - can't access its functions. There are no error messages, no event logs where I can get some information. The dll is in C#, includes COM visible class, compiled for Any CPU (though I also tried x86), and registered during client installation by executing regasm. This creates registry keys, well everything works fine except for IE 64. I searched internet about the issue or at least some guidlines and didn't find anything. I received an answer on another forum, something about _MERGE_PROXYSTUB (I guess it's preprocessor definition?) and ProxyStubClsid32 registry key, but not very detailed. Well, I searched again, didn't find much, and experimented: rebuilt with _MERGE_PROXYSTUB defined, created ProxyStubClsid32 keys everywhere, but with no result. What can be at least possible solutions or points to look at? Maybe there is a way at least to get the logs about why IE 64 can't access it?

  Hi All, ran into an issue, we are using webforms with a site with this dir structure: root: / secure : /securepages/ we only want users who are logged in to access /securepages/. currently we are using the login control, 3.5, forms auth, all is working ok but know we have thrown assl cert into the mix and the issue is that the login control is requesting WebResource.axd?d=XukT0PE1PS-iOKw3RT8Z6g2&t=633834231612265882 from the non secure url e.g. ht tp://www.mysite.com/WebResource.axd?d=XukT0PE1PS-iOKw3RT8Z6g2&t=633834231612265882 . This causes the browser to prompt the user to download unsecure content. I am using some redirecting in the global.asax to handle redirection to https://xx xxxlogin.aspx if login.aspx it requested from http://. thanks

• Cakephp doesn't write a cookie

  Hello! I have a problem with writing cookies in cakephp and even don't know how to debug it or where too look for a clue. I've inherited a project where cookie were only created using the Session component, of course i added 'Cookie' to $components array in app_controller and put this in beforeFilter: $this->Cookie->name = 'foo'; $this->Cookie->path = '/home/~nick'; $this->Cookie->domain = 'hostname'; $this->Cookie->secure = false; //i.e. only sent if using secure HTTPS $this->Cookie->key = 'some key'; and in some action i use: $this->Cookie->write('key', 'value'); I access page by http://hostname/home/~nick/foo and actually try to put even something so silly. I doesn't work. I would be really gratefully for any clue where to search problem. Thanks!

• Python Locking Implementation (with threading module)

  This is probably a rudimentary question, but I'm new to threaded programming in Python and am not entirely sure what the correct practice is. Should I be creating a single lock object (either globally or being passed around) and using that everywhere that I need to do locking? Or, should I be creating multiple lock instances in each of the classes where I will be employing them. Take these 2 rudimentary code samples, which direction is best to go? The main difference being that a single lock instance is used in both class A and B in the second, while multiple instances are used in the first. • Lazy non-modifiable list in Google Collections

  I was looking for a decent implementation of a generic lazy non-modifiable list implementation to wrap my search result entries. The unmodifiable part of the task is easy as it can be achieved by Collections.unmodifiableList() so I only need to sort out the the lazy part. Surprisingly, google-collections doesn't have anything to offer; while LazyList from Apache Commons Collections does not support generics. I have found an attempt to build something on top of google-collections but it seems to be incomplete (e.g. does not support size()), outdated (does not compile with 1.0 final) and requiring some external classes, but could be used as a good starting point to build my own class. Is anybody aware of any good implementation of a LazyList? If not, which option do you think is better: write my own implementation, based on google-collections ForwardingList, similar to what Peter Maas did; write my own wrapper around Commons Collections LazyList (the wrapper would only add generics so I don't have to cast everywhere but only in the wrapper itself); just write something on top of java.util.AbstractList; Any other suggestions are welcome.

• How can I extract URLs from plain text with Perl?

  I need the Perl regex to parse plain text input and convert all links to valid HTML HREF links. I've tried 10 different versions I found on the web but none of them seen to work correctly. I also tested other solutions posted on StackOverflow, none of which seem to work. The correct solution should be able to find any URL in the plain text input and convert it to: <a href="$1">$1</a> Some cases other regular expressions I tried didn't handle correctly include: URLs at the end of a line which are followed by returns URLs that included question marks URLs that start with 'https' I'm hoping that another Perl guy out there will already have a regular expression they are using for this that they can share. • Putting CAPTCHAs on their own page?

  We need to put a captcha image on our ASP.NET MVC 2 based website. We chose reCaptcha and built it in using the way described by Derik Whittaker. The idea there is baiscally to build some abstractions and all you need to do is decorate your Controller with a [ValidateCaptcha] attribute. This works all fine. However, we have a lot of form-widgets in different pages and I don't want to have the captcha floating around everywhere. So I'd like to implement it the way StackOverflow does: Submit a Form -> Challenge Captcha -> Submit Captcha -> Perform Action on original form data. Now, how do I redirect the user to the captcha page while keeping the originally submitted information? I thought of some very ugly hacks (hidden fields w/ base64 encoded form data, etc.) but I think I'm missing something obvious. On the other hand, this sounds as if I wanted to do something in a stateful manner, and I shouldn't?

• How Can I Find Out *HOW* My Site Was Hacked? How Do I Find Site Vulnerabilities?

  One of my custom developed ASP.NET sites was hacked today: "Hacked By Swan (Please Stop Wars !.. )" It is using ASP.NET and SQL Server 2005 and IIS 6.0 and Windows 2003 server. I am not using Ajax and I think I am using stored procedures everywhere I am connecting to the database so I dont think it is SQL injection. I have now removed the write permission on the folders. How can I find out what they did to hack the site and what to do to prevent it from happening again? The server is up to date with all Windows updates. What they have done is uploading 6 files (index.asp, index.html, index.htm,...) to the main directory for the website. What log files should I upload? I have log files for IIS from this folder: c:\winnt\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1. I am willing to show it to some of you but don't think it is good to post on the Internet. Anyone willing to take a look at it? I have already searched on Google but the only thing I find there are other sites that have been hacked - I haven't been able to see any discussion about it. I know this is not strictly related to programming but this is still an important thing for programmers and a lot of programmers have been hacked like this.

  I've installed the newest Android SDK using eclipse's software updates feature to hit the resource at https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/. After installing it, it seems like the SDK is integrated into Eclipse, but when I try to create a new project with a single blank activity in it, I get the following error: [2009-06-06 11:41:24 - TestProject] no classfiles specified [2009-06-06 11:41:24 - TestProject] Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 This is using eclipse version 3.4.2 running on top of Mac OS 10.5.7 on a 32 bit processor. "The specified Microsoft CRM server is not responding. This might happen if it is currently unavaliable, it is not a Microsoft CRM server, or you are not a valid user. Contact your sys-admin." This is a Microsoft CRM v3.0 / Microsoft SQL server 2005 box, Active directory is on a seperate box.. When I right click Microsoft CRM Worlkflow Service, properties, log on: it shows "crmtestuser" and a password. I did not RDP or try logging in as that crmtestuser, but I am Admin... Could this be a clue? What can I try?

• Phonegap: Slow response with vibrate notification

When testing the app with phone, I noticed that vibration effect, that I have used to indicate that user touches a button, comes after a delay of maybe 0,5 seconds. This is way too long delay and just confuses the user. Is this just the downside of using phonegap? Or is there any configuration or additional frameworks which could be used to make the app response and produce the vibration more quickly?   In one of my main data integration test harnesses I create and use Fluent NHibernate's SingleConnectionSessionSourceForSQLiteInMemoryTesting, to get a fresh session for each test. After each test, I close the connection, session, and session factory, and throw out the nested StructureMap container they came from. This works for almost any simple data integration test I can think, including ones that utilize Fluent NHib's PersistenceSpecification object. When I test the application's lengthy database bootstrapping process, which creates and saves thousands of domain objects, I start seeing issues. It's not that the setup and tear down fails, in fact, the test successfully bootstraps the in-memory database as the application would bootstrap the real database in the production environment. The problem occurs when the database bootstrapping occurs a second time on a new in-memory database, with a new session and session factory. The error is: NHibernate.StaleStateException : Unexpected row count: 0; expected: 1 The row count is indeed Unexpected, the row that the application under test is looking for should be in the session. You see, it's not that any data from the last integration test is sticking around, it's that for some reason the session just stops working mid-database-boostrap. And I've looked everywhere for a place I might be holding on to an old session and I can't find one. I've searched through the code for static singleton objects, but there are none anywhere near the code in question. I have a couple StructureMap InstanceScope singleton's but they are getting thrown out with each nested container that is lost after every test teardown. I've tried every possible variation on disposing and closing every object involved with each test teardown and it still fails on this lengthy database bootstrap. But non-bootstrap related database tests appear to work fine. I'm starting to run out of options and may have to surrender lengthy database integration tests in favor of WatiN-based acceptance tests. Can anyone give me any clue about how I can figure out why some of my SingleConnectionSessionSourceForSQLiteInMemoryTesting aren't repeatable? Any advice at all, about how to make an NHibernate SqlLite database integration test harness repeatable?

  Has anyone found a workaround yet for getting custom dictionary support working for the built in spellchecking on WPF TextBoxes/RichTextBoxes? We've been probing the spelling stuff with reflector hoping to find where the dictionary entries are coming from, but it's looking very much like it's going to be a COM object.... I know it's not currently supported and that Microsoft were looking into supporting it in a future release, but that was quite a while ago and I can't seem to find any recent news about it. • PostGIS - can't create spatially-enabled database

  I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, PostgreSQL 9.0 and PostGIS 1.5. I've installed PostGIS 1.5 from: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntugis/+archive/ubuntugis-unstable I used PPA first then the command: sudo apt-get install postgis to install postgis. I've been following these instructions to create a spatially-enabled database: http://ostgis.refractions.net/docs/ch02.html#id2630100 I got to the point where it's saying: Now load the PostGIS object and function definitions into your database by loading the postgis.sql definitions file (located in [prefix]/share/contrib as specified during the configuration step). psql -d [yourdatabase] -f postgis.sql Well, there is no postgis.sql on my server after the installation. I did an sudo updatedb to make sure I can find postgis.sql but it's not there. Any ideas? Thank you!

• Algorithm for evaluating nested logical expression

  I have a logical expression that I would like to evaluate. The expression can be nested and consists of T (True) or F (False) and parenthesis. The parenthesis "(" means "logical OR". Two terms TF beside each others (or any other two combinations beside each others), should be ANDED (Logical AND). For example, the expression: ((TFT)T) = true I need an algorithm for solving this problem. I thought of converting the expression first to disjunctive or conjunctive normal form and then I can easily evaluate the expression. However, I couldn't find an algorithm that normalizes the expression. Any suggestions? Thank you. • How can I find out why a website looks different when I upload it to IIS ?

  Good day... I've been working on a website project, that requires to be on a Microsoft IIS Web Server. It is HTML, pure HTML, with really nice CSS, web-standards, etc. I open this website using in my computer, using Firefox, IE 8.0, Safari, Google Chrome and it looks fine everywhere. But as I upload it to the Microsoft IIS server, it changes a few things. for example: the main menu, which is a navigation bar that has dropdowns, seems to change it's line-height for some reason, and it is bigger. Some <h3> or <h2> Alignment seems wrong as well... And the lines that are supposed to surround the photographs in the website (like a frame - dotted line) won't appear. But all the rest of the CSS is loading perfectly fine. I don't think it's a path problem as everything is loading fine. But this is making me look bad and it is very important to have this done as soon as possible. Can someone give me good suggestions on what to look at ? The IIS permissions seem fine. I'm not a big Microsoft fan...but I have to develop the website there. Also, I uploaded the site to my apache server and it worked wonders. I wish I could change the policies in this corporation, but I can't. Thank you so much for your kind help.

I've got to find a way to resolve the array of ints "{1,3,4,5,2}" into an array of T so that the rest of my code will work smoothly.

• How do I blur (ios7 style) a section of an image in a UITableViewCell?

  I've got a UIImageView that takes up the whole cell and shows an image. I'd like to blur the bottom third of the view in the iOS7 style (we're targeting iOS7). There will be a label over the blurred part. The issue seems to be that I can't "screenshot" the UIImageView right as I am setting up the cell in tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: as it hasn't loaded yet. Although i've even tried setting up a timer for a 0.1 second delay and that also doesn't work. I don't need dynamic updates. I've managed to get the following effect a few times but it has just tinted the view and hasn't actually blurred anything so I'm a bit confused.

  I have searched everywhere for this and I really want to resolve this. In the past I just end up using an SMTP service like SendGrid for PHP and a mailing plugin like SwiftMailer. However I want to use PHP. Basically my setup (I am new to server setup, and this is my personal setup following a tutorial) Nginx Rackspace Cloud PHP 5.3 PHP-FPM Ubuntu 11.04 My phpinfo() returns this about the Mail entries: mail.log no value mail.add_x_header On mail.force_extra_parameters no value sendmail_from no value sendmail_path /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i SMTP localhost smtp_port 25 Can someone help me to as why Mail() will not work - my script is working on all other sites, it is a normal mail command. Do I need to setup logs or enable some PHP port on the server?
