.NET Fingerprint SDK

I am looking for a comparison of Fingerprint reader SDKs available for .NET (we are using .Net 3.5). My requirements are 1. Associate more than one fingerprint with a person. 2. Store the fingerprints it self. (So I do not have to change the Database for my program.) 3. Work in both event and no-event mode. (Event Mode: Give notification if someone swipes a finger on the reader; No-Event mode: I activate the reader in synchronous mode). 4. Should provide API for either confirming a user or Identifying a user. (Confirm API: I send the person's ID/unique number and it confirms that it is the same person; Identifying API: The sdk sends the person's ID after it looks up the person using the fingerprint) I would also like to get a comparison of Fingerprint readers if anybody knows of one available on the internet. iPhone Safari does not auto scale back down on portrait->landscape->portrait

Hi, I have a very simple HTML page with this META tag for the iPhone: <meta name="viewport" content="height=device-height,width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no" /> When the page loads in portrait mode it looks fine and the width fits the screen. When I rotate the iPhone to landscape mode the web page is auto resized to fit the landscape width. Good, this is what I want. But when I rotate back to landscape, the page is not resized back to fit the portrait width like it was before. It remains in the landscape width. I want the iPhone to set it back to the right width automatically, just like it did for the landscape mode. I don't think this should involve orientation listeners because it is all done automatically and I don't have any special styling for the different modes. Why doesn't the iPhone resize the web page back in portrait mode? How do I fix this? Thanks! Tom.

Custom Installer class , rollback method never called.

The problem is that the RollBack method is not called. I don't see the expected entry in the event log. I want to mention that if i let the installation to complete , I do see the "Install" message in the event log and If i then uninstall , I see the "uninstall" message in the event log. But if stop the installtion process in the middle , by pressing the "cancel" button , I do see the progress bar going backward , but the rollback method is not called. what am I doing wrong ? thanks in advance for any help. Edit: Providing more details... The installer is an MSI package. The package is built in vs2009 using a setup project. The installer class is used as a custom action by the setup project. Since this is a MSI Package I have an option to run it in silent mode or in user-interactive more . When I wrote "Full GUI mode" , I ment User-Interactive mode.

How do I handle nils in views?

I have the following models set up: class Contact < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :band belongs_to :mode validates_presence_of :call, :mode validates_associated :mode, :band validates_presence_of :band, :if => :no_freq? validates_presence_of :freq, :if => :no_band? protected def no_freq? freq.nil? end def no_band? band.nil? end end class Band < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :logs end class Mode < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :logs end When I enter a frequency on my new view it allows for no band to be specified if a freq is entered. This creates a problem in my other views though because band is now nil. How do I allow for band not to be specified and just show up as empty on my index and show views, and then in the edit view allow one to be specified at a later point in time. I have been able to get my index to display a blank by doing: contact.band && contact.band.name But I'm not sure if this is a best approach, and I'm unsure of how to apply a similar solution to my other views. I tried to solve this by implementing IBindableTemplate to load the controls that are inside my user control, directly into the templates (just like I had entered them declaratively like in the code above). However, when calling UpdateItem in edit mode, the container that gets passed into the ExtractValues method of the template, does not contain the TextBox anymore. It did in view mode! I have found some questions on SO that relate to this problem but they are rather dated and they don't provide any answers that helped me solve this problem. How do you think I could solve this problem? It seems to be such a simple requirement but apparently it's more like opening a can of worms...

Remove clear button (grey x) to the right of UISearchBar when cancel button tapped

Right, to begin my question, here's some screenies of the problem already solved by the Spotify app: Spotify's Step 1: Standard UISearchBar not in editing mode. Spotify's Step 2: UISearchBar now in editing mode. Search term entered. Cancel button slides in from the right, and the clear button (grey x) appears. Spotify's Step 3: Cancel button pressed; keyboard slides out and the search bar is no longer in editing mode. Search term remains and the grey x button is now hidden. At present, the following code fires off when my cancel button is pressed: - (void)searchBarCancelButtonClicked:(UISearchBar *)searchBar { [searchBar resignFirstResponder]; [searchBar setShowsCancelButton:NO animated:YES]; } Which results in: My Step 3: Search bar now not in editing mode. Cancel button and keyboard has slid out. Search term remains but so does the grey x. So, my question is this: given that -resignFirstResponder (and -endEditing:, FYI) does not hide the grey x button when a search bar has had text entered into it, how does one hide it? Git Diff with Beyond Compare

I have succeeded in getting git to start Beyond Compare 3 as a diff tool however, when I do a diff, the file I am comparing against is not being loaded. Only the latest version of the file is loaded and nothing else, so there is nothing in the right pane of Beyond Compare. I am running git 1.6.3.1 with Cygwin with Beyond Compare 3. I have set up beyond compare as they suggest in the support part of their website with a script like such: #!/bin/sh # diff is called by git with 7 parameters: # path old-file old-hex old-mode new-file new-hex new-mode "path_to_bc3_executable" "$2" "$5" | cat Has anyone else encountered this problem and know a solution to this? Edit: I have followed the suggestions by VonC but I am still having exactly the same problem as before. I am kinda new to Git so perhaps I am not using the diff correctly. For example, I am trying to see the diff on a file with a command like such: git diff main.css Beyond Compare will then open and only display my current main.css in the left pane, there is nothing in the right pane. I would like the see my current main.css in the left pane compared to the HEAD, basically what I have last committed. Inactive area after device rotation

Hi all, I don't understand what's wrong in my very simple application with device rotation : I built my view with interface builder. (See screen capture here) I specified <key>UIInterfaceOrientation</key><string>UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight</string> in my info.plist file. I had a (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation {return YES;} in my root view controller. The area on the left (shown in red on the capture), around 20 pixel width, keeps inactive (nothing append if I hit a button in this area). In fact the full screen is active only in portrait mode, in landscape right mode there is this 20 pixels width inactive area, in landscape left mode this inactive area is on the right, in portrait upside down mode this area is on the bottom. I read lots of posts and documentation about UIView rotation, but I did not find anything to solve this problem (I tried to play with view.frame and view.bounds without any success). How to handle activity life cycle involving sockets in Android?

Hello all, I have an Android activity which in turn starts a thread. In the thread I open a persistent TCP socket connection. When the socket connects to the server dynamic data is downloaded. The thread sends messages using Handler-class to the activity when data has been received. Now if the user happens to switch from portrait to landscape mode the activity gets an onDestroy call. At this moment I close the socket and stop the thread. When Android has switched landscape mode it calls onCreate yet again and I have to do a socket re-connect. Also, all of the data the activity received needs to be downloaded once more because the server does not have the ability to know what has been sent before, i.e. there is no "resume" feature. Thus the problem is that there is alot of data which is resent all the time when landscape mode is changed. What are my options here? Should I create a service which handles the socket traffic towards the server thus I always got all the data which the server has sent in the service. Or should I disable landscape mode all together perhaps? Or would my best bet be to rewrite my server which is a VERY BIG job :-) All input is welcome :-) / Henrik

My question: how can I set an ActiveX object's property via JavaScript to an enum value found in a non-ActiveX DLL? Problem description: I am instantiating an ActiveX object with the following object tag: <object classid="clsid:F338193D-2491-4D7B-80CE-03487041A278" id="VideoCapture1" width="500" height="500"></object> (This is the guid for the 3rd party ActiveX I'm using, "VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.VFVideoCapture4X") I have example C# code for using this ActiveX, which I am porting to JavaScript. Code like this works just fine: VideoCapture1.Debug_Mode = true; var devcount = VideoCapture1.Video_CaptureDevices_GetCount(); var devs = []; for (var i =0; i < devcount; ++i) { devs[devs.length] = VideoCapture1.Video_CaptureDevices_GetItem(i); } ... etc ... However, VideoCapture1 has some settings which refer to a DLL enum, like so (C# code): VideoCapture1.Mode = VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.TxVFMode.Mode_Video_Preview; I can see in Visual Web Developer that TxVFMode.Mode_Video_Preview is value 1 in the enum. However, the following JS does not appear to set the Mode properly: VideoCapture1.Mode = 1; Does anyone know how I can set VideoCapture1.Mode to the enum value found in the TxVFMode? PS: In Visual Web Developer, when I "Go to definition" on TxVFMode, I get the Guid for the enum. I thought I could create an with this Guid or instantiate a VisioForge_Video_Capture_4.TxVFMode in JS, but neither gives me a usable object.

Where to Store ID Field In Silverlight

I am trying to use the MVVM pattern, and I am wondering where I place an ID value. Do I create a TextBlock that has its visibility property set to collapsed? Or is there a better place to store this kind of data? Asynchronous event loop design and issues.

Hello, I'm designing event loop for asynchronous socket IO using epoll/devpoll/kqueue/poll/select (including windows-select). I have two options of performing, IO operation: Non-blocking mode, poll on EAGAIN Set socket to non-blocking mode. Read/Write to socket. If operation succeeds, post completion notification to event loop. If I get EAGAIN, add socket to "select list" and poll socket. Polling mode: poll and then execute Add socket to select list and poll it. Wait for notification that it is readable writable read/write Post completion notification to event loop of sucseeds To me it looks like first would require less system calls when using in normal mode, especially for writing to socket (buffers are quite big). Also it looks like that it would be possible to reduce the overhead over number of "select" executions, especially it is nice when you do not have something that scales well as epoll/devpoll/kqueue. Questions: Are there any advantages of the second approach? Are there any portability issues with non-blocking operations on sockets/file descriptors over numerous operating systems: Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, MacOSX, Windows. Notes: Please do not suggest using existing event-loop/socket-api implementations

can I disable the "(Type e to repeat macro)" message in emacs?

Hi there, So, I've finally made the plunge, and have gotten to the state where I'm quite happy to have switched from vi and vim to emacs... I've been putting stuff in my .emacs file, learning how to evaluate things (not to mention becoming familiar with movement commands), etc. etc. etc. And now I have a problem with a require line in my .emacs file (a require statement*), which bombs out when I launch emacs (and generally fails to work). So, this lead me to the following situation: In the process of trying to debug the above situation, one of the steps I did was to open the file I was trying to require, and evaluate it bit by bit, using C-M-f and C-x C-e (and later just M-x eval-buffer), which all worked fine. But along the way of the section-by-section, I got tired of typing all those, and so I recorded a keyboard macro... C-x ( C-M-f C-x C-e C-x ) and then C-x e... which gave me a message in the minibuffer (I think I'm using the right name), saying (Type e to repeat macro). Which meant I could no longer see the resultant value of the evaluation of each section of code... which, while not critical in this case, I was liking having. Which leads me to the actual question: Is there a way to disable that message, and/or to cause the minibuffer to show multiple lines at once? I know about the *Messages* buffer, and that could have helped, I'm just wondering if there's a way to either disable that message, or otherwise make it coexist with other messages. Any suggestions? Thanks! lindes * - the problem at hand, which is not really my question, is that (require 'ruby-mode/ruby-mode) fails, even though emacs is definitely and successfully (per system call tracing) opening and reading the ruby-mode.el file. I presume this is because the provide line says just 'ruby-mode. I've found a solution for this, but if anyone can point me to any "best practices", I'd appreciate it.

Hi guys, I've a little problem with an Html.ListBox! I am developing a personal blog in ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and I created an adminpanel where I can add and edit a post! During this two operations, I can add also tags! I think of use an Html.ListBox() helper to list all tags, and so I can select multiple tags to add in a post! The problem isn't during the add mode, but in the edit mode, where I have to pre-select post's tags! I read that I have to use a MultiSelectList and so in its constructor pass, tags' list and tag's list(pre-selected value). But I don't know how to use this class! I post, some code: This is my models method that get all list tags in selectlist public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> GetTagsListBox() { return from t in db.Tags orderby t.IDTag descending select new SelectListItem { Text = t.TagName, Value = t.IDTag.ToString(), }; } So in Edit (Get and Post), Add(Get and Post) I use a ViewData to pass this list in Html.ListBox(). ViewData["Tags"] = tagdb.GetTagsListBox(); And in my view <%=Html.ListBox("Tags",ViewData["Tags"] as SelectList) %> So with this code it's ok in Add Mode! But in Edit Mode I need to pre-select those values! So Now, of course I have to create a method that get all tagsbypostid! and then in ViewData what Must I to pass? Any suggest?

NSOpenGLFullScreen and SetSystemUIMode freeze bug!?

Hi! I have a really strange problem which is perfectly re-producable using sample code! If I use Apple's NSOpenGLFullScreen sample I can click a button to enter fullscreen OpenGL mode. However if I click the mouse in the area where the menubar would be if I was running windowed mode, the entire program freezes because I really activate the menu-choice behind the OpenGL screen, so to speak. The solution I have found after some Googling is to use SetSystemUIMode to hide the menubar. Also I want to initiate the application to fullscreen at startup by adding a call to EnterFullScreen after initialization. Entering FullScreen works perfectly, BUT - if I add the call to SetSystemUIMode I get a really strange error! The entire screen hangs, the animation stops and no mouse coordinates seem to be reported. If I then exit the Fullscreen mode and press the FullScreen button again everything works and the menubar is gone.. What could be wrong here? I mean it obviously works to remove the menubar in that manner and it obviously works to enter fullscreen mode like that (using Cocoa), but why doesn't the combination work!? The move from IE6/XP to IE8/Win7 and its effect on ASP.NET applications

Hello, The company I work for is preparing for application testing in IE8. Previously we have been using IE6. Many of our web applications are written in .NET 1.0 and 1.1 with more recent apps written in 2.x and 3.x. I know IE8 has an IE7 compatibility mode and it says it has a quirks mode, but most of our apps were written for 6, which is not specifically mentioned. Compatibility is for 7, which had a compatibility for 6. I do not know if that is necessarily carried over to 8. In 6 quirks mode was to run 5.5 sites without a problem. With no deeper explanation on any of Microsoft's release notes does it mention quirks mode as 6 compliant or even 5.5, just a basis of what it is (specific DOCTYPEs or no DOCTYPEs). If anyone could shed some light on how sites and apps designed for IE6 should run in IE8 would be greatly appreciated. If anyone else has made a similar move how smooth was the transition? Thanks.

Problem writing a snippet containing Emacs Lisp code

Hi all, I've been trying to make use of a cool feature of YASnippet: write snippets containing embedded Emacs Lisp code. There is a snippet for rst-mode that surrounds the entered text with "=" that is as long as the text such as in ==== Text ==== Based on this snippet, I decided to slightly modify it (with Elisp) so that it comments out these three lines depending on the major mode you are in (I thought that such a snippet would be useful to organize the source code). So I wrote this: ${1:`(insert comment-start)`} ${2:$(make-string (string-width text) ?\-)} $1 ${2:Text} $1 ${2:$(make-string (string-width text) ?\-)} $0 This code works relatively well except for one problem: the indentation of these three lines gets mixed up, depending on the major mode I'm in (e.g., in emacs-lisp-mode, the second and the third lines move more to the right than the first line). I think the source of the problem might have something to do with what comes after the string ${1: on the first line. If I add a character, I have no problem (i.e., all three lines are correctly aligned at the end of the snippet expansion). If I add a single space after this string, the misalignment problem still continues though. So my question is: do you know of any way of rewriting this snippet so that this misalignment does not arise? Do you know what's the source of this behaviour? Cheers,

How do I display a view as if it's the front page via a module?

I have a simple view that feeds a home page. I have a custom module that registers some specific URLs in hook_menu that I pass into my module so I can pass them as arguments into the view. I can get the module to display the view all right, but it doesn't use the teaser/is_front view that outputs when I access the home page. I looked through the APIs but I can't seem to figure out how I can output the view via my module as if it's the front page, meaning $is_front is true and the teasers would appear. The reason I'm not passing in the arguments via the URL bar into the view itself is: My argument list is known and finite The argument order is mixed, meaning I will sometimes have /argument1, /argument1/argument2 or just /argument2. I only want to capture the first level URL as an argument for specific, known strings (e.g. I don't want to pass /admin into my view but I do want to pass in /los-angeles, which I register in the menu system via hook_menu in my module) Here are some examples to make this more clear: /admin - loads the admin page /user - loads the login page /boston - passes into the first argument of the view; shows in front/teaser mode / - shows view with no arguments /bread - passes into argument 2 of the view; shows in front/teaser mode /boston/bread - Passes into argument 1 and 2 of the view; shows in front/teaser mode Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way? iPhone --- 3DES Encryption returns "wrong" results?

Hello fellow developers, I have some serious trouble with a CommonCrypto function. There are two existing applications for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, both use Triple-DES encryption with ECB mode for data exchange. On either the encrypted results are the same. Now I want to implent the 3DES encryption into our iPhone application, so I went straight for CommonCrypto: http://www.opensource.apple.com/source/CommonCrypto/CommonCrypto-32207/CommonCrypto/CommonCryptor.h I get some results if I use CBC mode, but they do not correspond with the results of Java or C#. Anyway, I want to use ECB mode, but I don't get this working at all - there is a parameter error showing up... This is my call for the ECB mode... XSLT: Using a different way of processing within the current way of processing.

Below I'm trying to match certain nodes. <xsl:template match="nodes"> <element> <xsl:apply-templates select="nodes" mode="different" /> </element> </xsl:template> Now, there are multiple ways of processing for the same nodes. I want to use this different way of processing within the current way of processing. That's why I perform apply-templates on the same selection, which is nodes, however the mode is different now. Here's how the different mode could look like: <xsl:template match="nodes" mode="different">  </xsl:template> Now, this does not work. Only the first type of processing is processed and the apply-templates call is simply not applied. What am I doing wrong, how can I get what I want using XSLT? What could be another approach to solve this problem?
