This device is designed mainly to be mapped as a network drive and through its own interface are configured users and policies.   • Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware

    The whole installation goes smoothly up to the point of "Completing installation ...". The monitor changes resolution, after which a standard dialog box pops up saying Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware Then, in a few seconds, the whole machine powers down. Trying to restart produces the message: STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} 0x00000000 (0xc0000001 0x00100448) OR it boots into Setup and comes up with the message: Windows Setup encountered an unexpected error... (This is not the actual error, just paraphrasing) I tried using the OEM restore instead of a regular install, but it fails with the same error. (Even though it worked before...) General specs: HP Pavilion Elite e9262f Intel Core i5-750 Processor ATI Radeon HD 4650 Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 ATA Device 6GB DDR3 RAM SuperMulti DVD Burner with LightScribe Some built-in Wi-Fi module http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01916917 I've tried disconnecting the wireless card and disabling the built-in Ethernet and Firewire via the BIOS, and replacing the wireless keyboard and mouse with wired USB ones. Didn't work. I've also tried changing the SATA controller settings in the BIOS to RAID, AHCI, and IDE, reinstalling each time I changed. Still not working. I think the reason why it is showing the Fatal System Error is because it didn't finish installing before it errored out and shut down, so the system is left in an inconsistent state. I've tried 3 different copies (including the OEM restore) of Windows 7 now, and they're all failing at the same point, with the same error message. I've tried to install Windows 7 maybe 10 times already, with the exact same error message at the exact same location. Hm... Interestingly, the 32-bit version of Windows 7 works, but the 64-bit version doesn't. Perhaps it was a badly burned disk? Reburning the 64-bit version still comes up with the same error.   • OS X wants to back up Macintosh HD to itself

    From time to time, OS X (10.6) will ask me if I want to perform a backup of my Macintosh HD, but the backup destination is obviously the HD itself. I have not plugged in any external device, nor is there a Time Capsule network share. A message like this will appear: Moreover, the Macintosh HD will suddenly have a Time Machine icon in Finder. Has somebody experienced the same and could help me identify how to stop OS X from using its own disk as the backup destination?

    When I copy some drawing in Illustrator, it stores it in clipboard in 3 formats: bitmap, device independent bitmap and enhanced meta-file. If drawing contains text, then meta-file version has no anti-aliasing. Below are examples in MS Word OneNote has no "Paste Special" so it always paste in EMF. Is it possible either to tell OneNote to paste not in EMF, or tell Illustrator to use anti-aliasing while storing picture with letters?

  • Configuring HP Proliant iLO using hponcfg

    I am configuring an iLO using hponcfg by logging into the machine remotely and running hponcfg with scripts Mod_Directory.xml and then with Mod_Network.xml. I am enabling the DHCP on the device. But after the above scripts are executed successfully and upon rebooting the iLO, it shows the IP address to be 0.0.0.0. What is missing here, so that the iLO gets an IP from DHCP automatically after configuration?

If I ping it from another server in same subnet, it's barely pinging, losing more than 90% packets. Firewall on the guest is completely off. Tried to set up network manually as well as via DHCP without success (BTW, DHCP set up network settings correctly). I suspect that is a kind of routing problem, but I spent whole day and still cannot figure it out. I would be appreciate for any help.

  • DVD ROM is not working

    (note: I don't know in which StackExchange site to put this question, I'll thank the moderator that will move it to a more appropriate place, if there is a S.E. available for my question). I have a DVD RW drive that is well listed in the bios, and if no CD is in, it is also present in the "My Computer" of my Fedora 16. But when I put a disc on it, the icon disapear from "My Computer", and I can not do anything with this ! (Like erasing a RW disc). I'd like to boot a Fedora 17 Live CD image. I burned it on an other computer but when I try to run it in bios, nothing is done and I'm redirected to Grub of my HD.   • How do I correct a directory incorrectly copied into itself?

    Given the following situation... <path>/mydir1/mydir2 ...where mydir2 should have overwritten mydir1, but was instead placed inside, and both directories actually have the same filename. How is that fixed? Attempting to do mv <path>/mydir/mydir/* <path>/mydir/ or mv <path>/mydir <path>/ results in: mv: cannot move `<path>/mydir/mydir` to a subdirectory of itself, `<path>/mydir` This seems stupidly simple, but it's late here and I can't figure it out. There are seventeen such directories to fix (path differs for each, but same mydir name). This appears to be working... except there's a lot of files (and dirs) - I don't want to confirm every one! Isn't the f there supposed to prevent this? Ok, so cp was aliased to cp -i (which I found out with type cp), and bypassed by using \cp -rf ./mydir/* ./ which seems to have worked. Although I've solved the problem of getting dirs/files from one place to another, I'm still curious as to what's going on with the mv stuff - is this really a deliberate feature as suggested by Warner?

  • Mavericks not booting after successful installation over Lion (10.7.5)

    On my 2012 MacBook Pro (15 inch, non retina, i7, 10GB RAM) after successful installation when Mavericks tried to boot, it is freezing there with "Still waiting for root device" (Seen Using CMD + V during boot). Someone please help. My Mac is not usable anymore. Boots in safe mode but freezes in safe mode too. From safe mode reinstalled Mavericks but failed again with same error. If it can't be fixed please let me know if it can be reverted.

    I'm trying to get to a local web site on my LAN at 192.168.1.10 with my Blackberry, but I'm getting a message saying the server did not respond. I know that some, if not all, internet traffic on a BES-connected blackberry goes through the BES. This is clear because I can access internal resources on my employers network via the mobile network. Is there any way for me to specify that the device should attempt to route directly over wifi before it tries to connect via the BES server at work?

    After I upgraded from kernel 2.6.18 to 3.5.3 modeswitch started not to work for me. Although lsusb shows my usb modem, usb_modeswitch does not switch it. My system information is like below.   • I can't get the Samsung PC Studio to work on Vista or Windows 7

    Has anyone got a solution to this problem have asked Samsung but no reply yet! The software installs OK and the drivers, it sees the Tocco Lite when connected but will not actually connect! error message can't change mode or can't connect as "no response from the device because it is in the initializing stage. Try again after the initialization has completed" but it never does. Please Help!!! Mike

I googled a lot and finally i found something called "Virtual Audio Cable", a tool to install virtual audio drivers ( http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html ). I tried many times but i couldn't get this driver work, so i'm asking if someone know a similar solution, i mean a virtual microphone or a way to make skype working without any microphone.     I'd like to broadcast audio from my Mac desktop to my Palm Pre, as the Pre is more portable and I can use it in the kitchen, or while I'm exercising, and so on. I can already capture the audio using Soundflower, but how might I create an MP3 stream out of the audio input device? For all intents and purposes, Soundflower can reduce this question down to, "How can I create an MP3 stream from the built-in microphone on my Mac?" as the answer can be applied equally well to iTunes output.
