• Setting up Zend Framework 2 on GoDaddy

  I tried setting up ZF2 on the GoDaddy shared servers, though it doesn't work. I tried to download it directly, and using the git composer (which I managed to install successfully on the server). • Effects of HTTP/TCP connection handshakes and server performance

  When running apache bench on the same server as the website like: ab -n 1000 -c 10 localhost:8080/ I am most probably not getting accurate results when compared to users hitting the server from various locations. I'm trying to understand how or rather why this will effect real world performance since a user in china will have different latency issues when compared to someone in the same state/country. Say my web server has a maximum thread limit of 100. Can someone explain in detail how end user latency can/will effect server performance. I'm assuming here that each request will be computed equally at say 10ms. What I'm not understand is how external factors can effect overal server performance, specifically internet connections (location, or even device like mobile) and http/tcp handshakes etc.

• RDP from domain workstation to non-domain workstation via VPN

  I am trying to RDP from a domain computer to a non-domain computer over a VPN. I created a rdp profile for a specified user (for example user name: USERX) with the option to save the password. I am able to establish the connection the first time by entering in the password. However, from that point on, whenever the RDP link is reestablished, it would state that my login details were incorrect and ask me re-type the password for COMP\USERX. Problem is, I don't have a domain called COMP and the password would fail even if reentered. The only way I can reestablish the connection is by choosing the option to login as another user.

• Gmail page works but won't stop loading

  When I open the GMail page in Chrome (9.0.597.102) on OS X (10.6.4), the page works fine and is functional, but it often remains in a "Loading" state, with the loading icon active, for extremely long periods of time. Functionally, there is no problem, since everything is accessible, and the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it immediately completes loading, other times it will claim to be "loading" for hours. My date is correct (as set with time.*.apple.com), and I don't have any Google Labs enabled. Does anyone else have this problem, or know the cause and solution?

• Squid traffic tunneled through VPN

  So what I'm trying to do is have a Squid Proxy run on 1 machine along side a VPN connection. What I want to happen is all traffic running though the Squad Proxy would run though the VPN for its outbound. ie Desktop - (Squid Proxy - VPN) The goal is to allow my desktop selective tunneling through the VPN. So that Instant Messaging and the like that do not need to run through the VPN can go through my normal traffic. Typically I would go though a SSH Proxy but currently am forced to use VPN to gain entry into the office, and a Squid proxy seemed like it might work out the easiest for what I am needing. EDIT Realize I forgot to actually state what problem I'm running into. I have the Squid setup and verified it works, but once I connect to the VPN. All requests to Squid get accepted but Squid is unable to make the request over the VPN. So the client ends up just sitting there.

• IP6tables blocks INPUT? can't connect with youtube API

  I thought to have a simple ipv6 firewall, but it turned out to be hell. Somehow I really can't connect with any ipv6 from my machine unless I set INPUT Policy to ACCEPT. • LSI RAID-on-chip with RAID6 over two SAS links goes red when HDD enclosure is powered cycled; how to recover?

  I have a RAID6 array managed by LSI 9286-8e card. I also have Sans Digital 24-bay NexentaSTOR JBOD enclosure with SAS extender built-in. They are connected to separate UPS devices. Normally, I'd shut down the PC, leaving RAID6 in healthy state. But today the power to JBOD enclosure was cut but PC kept running. After restarting the PC, all disks in RAID6 have lit up RED, and the only option in LSI MegaRAID manager app was to reset each disk to unassigned, thereby loosing all data on RAID6 array. Thankfully, I am only testing, but how would I recover if this were to happen in production?

What can I do to get this installed?

  Earlier, I tried to install package via apt-get (cython), but it failed with the Errors were encountered while processing: message, and since then, apt is refusing to install anything. apt-get check output below: root@dix:~# apt-get check Reading package lists... • MS SQL Server not running on Win7

  I have installed available all components of "MS_SQL_05" as give named instance on Win-7. I had a default instance running of MSSQL08. While Installing MSSQL05 Instance I choose to use windows authentication. But now I got a problem and my database engine is not running, actually no components are working except I am just able to login to Integration service. I think there is some Username issue, coz It using UsrNm :'Anas-PC\Anas' which seems incorrect. • Scanner Installation: Epson Perfection 3170 Photo, Windows 7 & Adobe Acrobat

  I installed the Driver v3.04A from Epson's Web site -- epson12180.exe that is supposedly for Windows 7. Now, the scanner works by itself, i.e. if I hit the scan button I get a dialog menu and can scan with one of the options there but not with Adobe Acrobat. What I need is to have it working from Adobe Acrobat when I go File - Create PDF - From Scanner - Custom Scan... The current state is that I see Scanner: "Please select a device" and no other available devices. I remember I used to see at least 2 other like "WIA Epson Perfection" and smth like "Epson Perfection". "WIA Epson Perfection" is the option that I am hoping to see to move on. • Unable to ping local machines by name in Windows 7

  I'm having a strange (and persistent!) problem with pinging local machines on my network by name. I believe my machine (Windows 7 64-bit) is the only one having this issue. This is over a wireless connection. As an example, consider a device on my network by the name of WDTVLiveHub. It's a Western Digital Live Hub (surprise!). If I go to my router's DHCP Client Table in the browser (my router is a WRT400N), I see this entry: WDTVLiveHub 192.168.1.101 Great. So I try to ping that IP address: ping 192.168.1.101 Pinging 192.168.1.101 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.101: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=64 Ping statistics for 192.168.1.101: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 9ms, Maximum = 16ms, Average = 14ms OK, still looking good. Now I try to ping it by name: ping WDTVLiveHub Ping request could not find host WDTVLiveHub. Please check the name and try again. From what I've read, this implies a problem with DNS servers and host name lookups. Interestingly, if I type the following: pathping 192.168.1.101 I get this output: Tracing route to WDTVLIVEHUB [192.168.1.101] over a maximum of 30 hops: 0 Scotty [192.168.1.103] 1 WDTVLIVEHUB [192.168.1.101] Computing statistics for 25 seconds... Scotty is obviously the name of my local machine. So it's able to find the name somehow when I do that approach... ipconfig /all shows the following under DNS servers: DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 ***.***.***.*** ***.***.***.*** Where the * represents the same DNS servers that show up in my router under DNS 1 and DNS 2 through the Internet. The biggest problem is that my mapped network drives have to be done by IP, and then any time the router assigns new IP addresses to those devices, all of my network shares break again. Stinks! Would love some assistance on possible solutions. I've tried all of this netsh catalog resetting and that didn't seem to fix anything at all. Would love an explanation of what's going wrong, too, rather than blindly resetting things! Thanks!

• TIME_WAIT connections not being cleaned up after timeout period expires

  I am stress testing one of my servers by hitting it with a constant stream of new network connections, the tcp_fin_timeout is set to 60, so if I send a constant stream of something like 100 requests per second, I would expect to see a rolling average of 6000 (60 * 100) connections in a TIME_WAIT state, this is happening, but looking in netstat (using -o) to see the timers, I see connections like: TIME_WAIT timewait (0.00/0/0) where their timeout has expired but the connection is still hanging around, I then eventually run out of connections. Anyone know why these connections don't get cleaned up? If I stop creating new connections they do eventually disappear but while I am constantly creating new connections they don't, seems like the kernel isn't getting chance to clean them up? Is there some other config options I need to set to remove the connections as soon as they have expired? The server is running Ubuntu and my web server is nginx. Also it has iptables with connection tracking, not sure if that would cause these TIME_WAIT connections to live on. Thanks Mark.

• kvm memory changes via virsh not propagating to vm

  Hi I just started using kvm on rhel6 and after creating a vm I tried to increase the memory but the changes I amde in the xml file do not propogate to vm, even after bouncing vm and restarting libvert?   Despite what old SE questions state, the PDF software Okular can now write annotations directly to the PDF. This makes it very useful in conjunction with Docear for annotating academic literature. However, Docear imports annotations from the comments, rather than importing from highlighted text. In Okular, when you highlight text it can then be clicked to reveal a comments bubble, which is empty by default. Copying the highlighted text into the resulting bubble allows it to be imported into Docear, but this is laborious. How can I modify the highlight tool to automatically copy the highlighted text into the resulting comment bubble?

• Fixing corrupt AVG vault? All files in USB drive are locked out.

  I was doing a virus scan on an external USB drive and while AVG was scanning my system got locked up and required a reboot. Since that time all data on the external drive is no longer accessible. I can see all the files in the root and directorys but I cannot browse into any of them as Windows 7 gives an error stating they are corrupt. If I show hidden files there is a hidden AVG directory that I know was not there to begin with and I am assuming it is some type of vault to protect files while being scanned. Well not the entire drives contents are unaccessible because I think whatever does the managing of the scan failed during the roobt and left the headers or something in a corrupt state. Does anyone know how to 'unlock' or recover this data? Luckily I can recover this data from other sources as a last resort but I would like to fix this if possible. Any help would be appreciated. • PowerConnect 2848 , vlan configuration with AP

  I need to configure two vlan on an AP connected with a Dell PowerConnect 2848. The first one is up and running (let's say vlan x) , the second one is a completely different network (vlan y) , provided by a Gateway-DHCP wich i have no access, directely Patched (via patch panel) at a secondo AP device. So i cannot just plug this Gateway device on my switch without tagging traffic before, for DHCP collion . I have to solve this problem. I was thinking about tagging the traffic at the port wich I will connect the gateway device with vlan y and then set as trunk (vlanx+y) the AP port. In this way I hope to limit the vlan y traffic ONLY for the ports I selected avoiding the spread of unwanted dhcp calls. But all other ports are Unassigned , so I am not sure they won't forward dhcp (vlan y) traffic. I cannot change the Unassigned state for the vlan x ports cause vlanx is native.

• Re-deploy Reports from SCOM 2007 R2 Management Packs

  I've migrated Reporting Services on a SCOM 2007 R2 install, and noticed that the reports have not being copied. I can create a new report, but the ones I've had because of the management packs are gone. I've tried re-applying the Management Packs however it doesn't re-deploy them and when I try to access for example: Monitoring - Microsoft Windows Print Server - Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003 Print Services - State View - select any item and click Alerts on the right menu. • How can I make Amazon SES the default method of sending mail from my server?

  I'd like to start using Amazon SES for all emails from our server. We have a few freelance designers with PHP hosting, some Django/Python web apps and also some system utilities which send emails. So I'd like to have PHP's mail function, the command line mail command and our python apps all be able to use it, preferably without having to set them all up in their own way. I think what I need is to have something like Postfix running on localhost and using SES for it's delivery but I don't know how to do that. Amazon's docs state I need to setup my mail transfer agent (MTA) so that it invokes the ses-send-email.pl script. I have the script but I'm not sure how to achieve this. Am I on the right track? If so, how can I configure Postfix to use that script?

• Virtualizor + VPS Backup (Bare Metal Restore capable) Using rSync 3

  I am using virtualizor to manage 3 XEN VPS. Hardware node and each VPS run CentOS 5.x. My backup needs are as follows: 1) I need to be able to bare metal restore the entire hardware node, excluding the VPSes (which would be restored via #2 below) 2) I need to have a complete backup of each VPS, ideally a backup that can be deployed on any other host that uses Xen, if the need arises. Naturally, I would also need to use this backup to restore an entire VPS to an earlier state within the same host. Which folders rSync needs to keep backed up in order to accomplish the above? The rSync specialists aren't sure of it either. Thanks

  I want to deploy a new DC + Fileserver using Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Standard Edition on a Dell PowerEdge R410 and iSCSI storage for a small business (~30 people). Should I install the system native on the server or use a virt layer? I don't have a budget for virtualization so i gotta go with something free... What's a better working routine, taking snapshots of vm's or taking backups (Acronis/CloneZilla) of systems? If I use a virt system, I need a GUI for some people in the business to reset the system to a earlier state in emergency situations.
