    The average Windows 8 user can only download apps that Microsoft has approved from the Windows Store. Windows 8 offers two ways to sideload unapproved apps, which are intended for developers and businesses with internal apps. These methods cannot be used by the average geek to install unapproved apps from the web. Windows 8’s new interface takes the Apple iOS approach of forbidding unapproved software, not the Android approach of allowing all users to enable sideloading. Note: This only applies to Modern apps in the new Windows 8 interface, not on the desktop. Windows desktop applications can be installed normally. (guides, how to's, status) Also, specifically, details on support for syncing music to iPhone's and iPod's with the latest OS version, as of writing iOS 5: Can you sync music to apple devices using iOS5? (iPhone & iPod) What applications allow you to do this and how? (guides, how to's, status) What has already been established is: Apple does not support Linux and has no plans to. libimobiledevice seems to provide some support but does not support syncing music with devices using iOS5. (I can't test libmobiledevice with anything other iOS5, so I can't provide details on how that works)

    I hire an Ubuntu server which I access remotely and I purchased a domain for my webpage. I am totally new to this server thing and to Ubuntu as well. What applications should I install on the server? I need to transfer files to the server, I guess I would use FileZilla the same way I use it to upload files to my free website. But to have a username and password should I install an ftp server and create a user on Ubuntu? My website will send automated messages to users, so do I need to install a mail server as well? What other software should I install on the server apart from a firewall and an anti-virus? Should I partition the hard drive (3TB) and how? How partitions should I create and in what size for what applications? Btw I use Windows 7 on my computer, so I am basically a windows user.

  • Ubuntu move fullscreen window to other monitor?

    I have been using Cinnamon with Ubuntu for quite some time now and here with full screen applications (games and the like) I could press META to bring up the "start menu/tray" then right-click that application and "move to monitor - monitor 1" - I see no such button when right-clicking applications from tray on Ubuntu with Unity. I'd prefer being able to do it that way since I am more used to it, is there some way to enable it for Unity? For reference this is how it is on Cinnamon: http://i.stack.imgur.com/PC1rA.png Edit: I have been looking around with Ubuntu Tweak Tool, dconf-editor and CCSM - though I can't seem to find anything there.

    I am a CS major. I've taken 2 courses in C (Intro to C and CS1) and 1 introductory course to OOP with Java. I really like Java and feel that I have a firm understanding of OOP concepts. I am really interested in web development and would like to learn a programming language that can be used to build dynamic web applications. My question is what language should I learn? I've narrowed it down to python or ruby. Also, I want to learn a programming language that will help me get a job upon graduating. So essentially, I will use this particular language to build applications that will help me get a job in the future.
